Emperor Hardin
I'm lazy so I'm not gonna write much. I just wanna hear everyone else's thoughts on this new class.
Rodykitty
Solder is not a new class. Only Halberder is when making Soldiers playable (again).
Emperor Hardin
Solder is not a new class. Only Halberder is when making Soldiers playable (again). I consider them new. True they showed up in Gaiden but they were just weaker armor knights then and in other games they're unplayable walking fodder.
Celice
I'd like one in the next game. One.
TheEnd
I consider them new. True they showed up in Gaiden but they were just weaker armor knights then and in other games they're unplayable walking fodder. Doesn't mean that they didn't exist. It's like saying that FE5 didn't have Berserkers just because they're unplayable.
luigi bros
Soldiers aren't new. They just got a MASSIVE upgrade in FEs 9 and 10. Halberdiers are new though. I like the class. Mainly because Nephenee uses it and I like Nephenee.
ShinKuma
That is a great class IMO. I mean generals are nice and all but I want a faster lance using foot soldier.
DragonBladeSniper
They're awesome since your only lance users who AREN'T on a mount are generals who have trouble catching up sometimes and other than that... Some lords and other uncommon class? Proof that it's an awesome class.
Ϲharlie
I thought Soldiers and Halberdiers were pretty underwhelming in Path of Radiance. They may have the "novelty" of being the only unmounted and unarmored lance wielding classes, but novelty alone does not a good class make. If I'm not mistaken, Halberdiers are one of the few classes in PoR that get nothing from upgrading. Just about every other class gets a secondary weapon or a boost to their crit when they promote. No comment on Radiant Dawn Soldiers/Halberdiers.
Remmé
The whole well rounded thing kind of conflicts with mercenaries, but given the amount of lords who use swords... I rather have soldiers playable more often.
Renall
I think their role is acceptable, as a foot unit that has a weapon restriction but balanced stats with a defensive emphasis. Lighter than Armor Knights but more balanced offensively. In response I'd rather see Heroes a bit more offensive, although they get Axes so that basically already happens. There just aren't any Heroes in PoR/RD to compare them with (Greil is unplayable, and Ike doesn't really count). I think the soldier archetype is actually closer to Devdan or Aran than Nephenee though, which is ironic because she's the only one anyone seems to care about. Actually I guess Devdan is the "offense" Halb, isn't he? Neph's more the "speed" one. Of course it doesn't fix armors, but eh.
Icon of Sin
No comment on Radiant Dawn Soldiers/Halberdiers. Just saying, but they do get a critical boost in this one. Funnily enough, last tier Fighters too. As for Soldiers, I liked that they went from "Str only" to "Balanced all around fighter" since it fits the nature of the lance better. I'd definitely like to see those again.
Emperor Hardin
They fit a good personality niche too. Most of them seem to have started out as common soldiers without royal blood and wealth. but rose up through their skills alone. Liz
i would like for them to be added, just to complete the "one weapon only critical hitters" thing. like in Archers/Snipers, Myrmidons/Swordmasters, and Pirates/Berzerkers. We need a lance one, methinks
Agro
I also thought they were a bit impractical, but the class is pretty cool.
Rodykitty
They should have given you generic soldiers in FEDS. Or use the new level 30 cap for a playable Soldier that comes from a Gaiden chapter.
Why-Fi
Having new classes is always cool. And I liked soldiers/halberdiers/sentinels in FE 10 so I'd like them to return as playable. Another thing that should return is 3rd tier, like in FE 10. And the promotion by "level 21" system (without the need of the rare promotion items). Why-Fi
Hmm, maybe that's why everyone things the Dawn Brigade chapters are difficult and the characters suck. Maybe it's because it's the only part that has 1st tiers (or at least most of them are 1st tiers)...
deleted35362
I always thought that soldiers should have been a playable and promotable class in GBA FEs.
Junkhead
I like them in FE2-9 & 10 obviously, the ones from the GBA series were really slow, some of them were even as slow as Knights, but the ones from FE9-10 were great, they were extreamly fast(Aran having average or below average speed) and having decent Def(Aran having great defense) and I guess the best was Nephenee in my opinion. CT075
I happen to like Soldiers/Halbs/Sentinels because Aran is one of them. JAVELIN MAN! Anyway, on a more serious note, I like them because Armor Knights are just eh and the only other non-mounted Lancers are Ephraim (>_>) and Amelia (Just... no.). Besides that, a crit boost class for each weapon type (Sniper, Berserker, Swordmaster) needs one for Lances. Also one for mages, but that can wait, since Mages hit res and Shamans get the almighty Luna.
