xanatha
I've fallen in love with Norse Mythology these last days, and I'm wondering if any of you guys know of any good books about it. Like the Edda, is that a good one? :)
BK-201
Can't remember what the Edda is but I might know it. Norse mythology is interesting, though I didn't look into it that much.
Chalis
There's plenty of different books out there, so you might want to look in a library nearby and have at it. :> Oh hey, this is the book I read.
Icon of Sin
Play FE4. Lots of Norse mythology references there. You'll thank me later. Edited May 14, 2010 by Dio

Nightmare
The only thing I like about Norse mythology is that it spawned this:
xanatha
Thank you guys :) Reverse Trap, that link you posted was great! Thank you! Awesome video, Nightmare! XD Edited May 14, 2010 by xanatha
Esau of Isaac
Norse mythology happens to be my favorite mythological series of stories. I've read quite a bit regarding it.
Crysta
Norse is the most manly mythology. Giant deity wrestling match ftw.
Nightmare
It also has cross-dressing Thor.
Original Alear
Norse mythology is interesting. However, I'm convinced that you need to work much harder to find a good translation that preserves a great deal of the original complexity. I've read some "scholarly" translations that are balls-to-the-walls painfully bad.
riariadne
I know some things about it. Though the only thing I can remember off the top of my head is a bit about Ragnarok.
xanatha
Thanks for the tip, Severlan, but I think I'm good. I've read the first three chapters. It's painful at some points, but I haven't got any problems yet. :) Ooo I can't wait to read the rest!! I think I've fallen in love with Loki! XD
Fayt Zelpher
Well, I wouldn't consider it to be particularly enjoyable reading, but for a class I took this past semester, we read a story called 'The Saga of the Volsungs'. That's another book of Norse Mythology you might want to consider reading, though it focuses primarily on a single lineage of heroes instead of the gods proper (though Odin does make a number of appearances nonetheless, as would be expected). xanatha
Thanks for your tip, Fayt Zelpher, but I do prefere to read about the gods. But it was kind of you to mention it :)

If I find something relating to Norse mythology somewhere and can remember to do so, I'll make sure to let you know. :)
the_whistler
I used to read a little bit on Norse Mythology, but it's been awhile XD Nowadays I just abuse Wikipedia :D

Aleph
This was the coolest shit about 8 years ago. Since, I've managed to forget just about everything except how awesome the concept of Yggdrasill is. I don't even remember where the names of the days of the week came from except Thursday...

Wednesday = Odin's Day (or Wotan's Day) Friday = Frigg's Day (it might also be Frey - I can't remember). There's two more for you. And obviously, Sunday and Monday are the days of the Sun and the Moon, respectively.
xanatha
That's very easy in Swedish. Monday = Måndag Moon = Måne Tuesday = Tisdag Tyr = Tyr (At least I think it's Tyr's day ;) ) Wednesday = Onsdag Odin = Oden Thursday = Torsdag Thor = Tor Friday = Fredag Frey = Frej Saturday = Lördag ... sorry, no idea XD Sunday = Söndag Sun = Sol

xanatha
Saturday is of course the day of Saturn. I suppose you're right, but has that anything to do with Norse Mythology?
