Really? I have a similar personal policy, except that I unconsciously put that person on my "Don't let this player into my games, because I put effort into them and don't want them ruined" list that I keep in my head.

EDIT: Yes, I do actually keep one of these lists.

Yeah, this is definitely a bad rule. Time limits put pressure on the players to do something before time runs out, instead of just taking their time.

Agreed; no time limit is horrible. 24 hours is bad because it doesn't leave a lot of time for people in far-flung timezones. 48 hours is ideal because it gives a deadline that is still in your face, but gives the aforementioned people time to do stuff.
