Parrhesia
Incidentally, if anyone's wondering which freak actually voted Geese? That would be me. Mostly because I don't believe I've ever seen him be used in a playthrough before. (Whether or not choosing Geese in NM is actually a freakish decision, I am yet to discover.) Anouleth
That's a pretty insane Bors you have there. above his strength, speed, skill, and defense averages by 4 points each. Would +4 defense make any difference whatsoever?
Smiley Jim
Chapter 10: The Resistance Forces Starting Units: Roy, Lilina, Alan, Lance, Bors, Dieck, Rutgar, Clarine, Thany, Saul, Chad, Shin New Units: Geese, Gonzales This chapter is rife with fighters and mercenaries, so sword users are recommended. There is a ballista on this map(and your first one); if Thany goes in that area, she is simply dead. The boss is a douche, but I'll get to him later. Also, my VBA is glitching up like Bugs Bunny with rabies and testicular torsion. I first started by plugging up any bridge chokepoints using my meatier units. While this is happening, Rutgar uses his hero crest and gains new power. Lilina and Shin decimated the things that Bors had previously weakened, while Alan, Lance, and Rutgar tore apart some fighters. Next enemy phase, Bors critkills two fighters, Dieck dodges another ballista bolt, and Roy dodges a 63 off the merc. Bors destroys the killing edge merc, while Lilina flame-broils the steel sword merc. Lance critkills the fighter. Next turn, Thany drops Lilina onto the swordreaver village, Bors plugs the bridge to lure in the 'zerker, and my other units stood by. Next turn, Shin critkilled the berserker, Dieck destroyed a fighter, Alan/Lance destroyed the wave's ranged dudes, and Bors, with nothing else to do, used his knight crest and promoted. Roy also talked to Geese to get him to join. Later, Shin killed the merc Alan left behind. On turn 7, Gonzo showed his face. Shin removed the ballista guy, while pirate reinforcements show up. While my sword users were beating on the pirates, Lilina talked to Gonzo. Roy and Shin try to destroy a pirate, but couldn't(it is funny how you need 13AS to double here.). I used this time to train Gonzo(and Shin/Lilina/Roy) Just after those guys were dead, fighters came out of the south forts. Again, Gonzo rushes in and chops people's heads off. As for the boss area, Shin 'feathered' the Nosferatu shaman. Speaking of that, the boss has it too. THIS is why he's such a douche. He heals back what you did to him, and there's just about nothing you can do about it, and considering he has 23Atk, all my units take heavy damage. Luckily Rutgar only faces 30 displayed hit and has 80 crit with his killing edge. I think you know what happens next. Rapes shit and doesn't afraid of anything. Thany is kind of useless from here on out. She doubles, but does so for like 4 damage per hit. And her durability is ass. Or maybe I just got unlucky. She WAS useful for those first 8 maps, so I have to give her credit for that. Looks like I definitely know where I'm heading off come Ch17. If you go enemy phase counter + player phase attack, you get 2 free attacks in (3 if you double) before the boss has a chance to restore his HP. Also, Geese is easier on the eyes too. Better skill, luck and resistance. Still, I think that most people would agree that HP, strength, and speed are more important. Typically, people find balenced people more than characters that kick ass in certain stats and is below average every where else. An example is that people are more inclined to use someone like Kent over Sain. The concept with Lilina and Gonzo is that she's playing the friend act on him, and she's quite compassinate towards hostile people.

Narga_Rocks
No, they're not. Sain has huge str and doesn't really lose to Kent elsewhere. And then there's my Sain, at least until he reached around level 15 and stopped gaining spd. He's still 1 above his average at 20/1, so that tells you a little something about how far above his average he was back at level 15 and before. Sain and Kent both decided to take parts from both the classic "Red" and the classic "Green" Cav. Sain took the high str from the red and the high spd from the green (and the high luck from whoever is supposed to have that, it's currently like 5 over average). Kent took the low str from the green and the low spd from the red. Way to go Kent.

Smiley Jim
Chapter 11: Hero of the West Starting Units: Roy, Lilina, Alan, Lance, Bors, Dieck, Thany, Clarine, Rutgar, Saul, Gonzo, Shin, Lalum New Units: Klein, Tate What a mess. Well, it's just all fighters, archers, and shamans. If you want to get all the items(which I sort of need, both for funds and for promoting people), you simply cannot fuck up on saving houses/keeping NPC units from committing suicide on the boss. If that happens, reset your VBA. It isn't worth it to let those houses/NPC's go. Also, your first prepromote who is actually kind of decent when trained. And he doesn't pack as much fail as Wolt and Dorothy. The other prepromote...not so much. But she's okay I guess. Alright, I decided to move my entire group to the south(because I didn't have any fucking time for that 100HP wall). Next turn, Gonzales killed the first fighter while Thany and Lalum did a rescue-dance maneuver to get Dieck across the wall. Next EP, a large amount of enemies came and attacked my wall, which didn't help much(Dieck got mugged by archers). They were killed easily next turn. I also decided to send Rutgar over the wall(since Dieck was having problems with getting swarmed.) The remaining enemies were dealt with by Shin, Alan, and Boris. Thany also decided to rescue-ferry Lalum over the fence. On turn 5, Klein's troops showed up. I boxed in Clarine so that she wouldn't die, and had Bors positioned to lure in Klein. On my next move, I did a very risky maneuver: I killed the enemies with Lance and Rutgar, then had Lalum dance for Thany to keep the bandit from burning the village and costing me my hero crest. I actually had to kill one of the archers so that Roy could talk to Klein(it's not like I need two Orion Bolts anyway). This next bit can be described as one big fuckfest. Tate's group showed up to the northwest after Alan removed the bandit. Next turn, Echidna came out of hiding and was promptly recruited. The turn after that, I was able to recruit Tate, but not without decimating her entire army. And the very next turn after that, a platoon of cavaliers spawned where Tate first appeared. I first tried to hide in the arena area, but that wouldn't have worked since bandits started spawning again. I just decided to block the chokepoint with Bors so that the cavaliers could only attack him(Dieck was also behind him just to get some last minute EXP). While this was happening, Roy, Gonzo, and Shin were dealing with the bandit reinforcements(there was a funny moment where Shin got hit on a 27 displayed). Eventually, the reinforcements calmed down and I was able to get to the boss without any resistance(except for the shaman). Dieck killed the last of the cavaliers, and Tate was busy getting the houses(I also bought a few killer axes at the shop and used the arena a bit.) The boss was Rutgar food, plain and simple. Also, if you went on Elphin and Bartre's route, Elphin must also not have been KO'd. This chapter marks the first appearance of a dragon. And I'm not talking about those dragon knights that are Shin food. And it's not Flaer either. Luckily, he's pathetic as anything since his AS is worse than whale shit, though he causes a LOT of damage to your units and can cause OHKO's to anything that is super squishy. Also making an introduction are sleep staves. Learn to hate those fuckers. And berserk staves, too. Your army is split in two groups. Bring two thieves and make sure that Chad is in Roy's group. I start to have my units advance, having Rutgar and Lily kill the two fighters and promoting Dieck. My other group moves forward, as well. Next turn, Chad and Astol open the doors, while at the same time, Rutgar, Shin, Gonzo, and Bors spent time killing shit. While Chad and Astol were getting stuff, my eastern group attacked a brick wall, while my western division dealt with the ranged attackers stalking this area. The silver bow guy was killed by Bors, and the western division made mincemeat out of the ranged units here(and Alan destroyed the Eclipse guy, not that he was a threat. lol21hit.) While some guys were whiffing on my units, Dieck destroyed an entire platoon of fighters with his new iron axe(fun fact: he can use a steel axe for only 1AS loss). Well, almost, since Lilina killed the fighter. Next turn, Cath appeared...again. This time, I blocked her every exit so she COULDN'T leave or steal shit. Chad recruited Ray, and a few turns later, Cath was recruited(well, right after Bors killed an 'innocent' priest for trying to sleep Chad for three turns in a row.) Next up came the reinforcements. I decided to put Ray to work here and get rid of them. Bors HAD to go with him since Ray is quite frail. Then fighters came out of the stairs, but they stood about as much of a chance against my sword users as Freddy does against fire. As for the boss, Lilina smoked him up a little before Dieck took the kill. Smiley Jim
Chapter 12x: The Axe of Lightning Starting Units: Roy, Lilina, Bors, Chad, Astol, Lalum, Saul, Ray This chapter has toxic vents; get hit by one and you'll get poisoned. Luckily, they are pretty easy to spot and are fairly easy to avoid. Also, bring a thief. Preferably, bring two and Lalum/Elphin. Also, my VBA is fucking up again. Firstly, I send Bors to destroy the first thief, then send Astol to get the chest. Ray took out a brigand with Chad's help. Next turn, Ray finished off the halberd brigand(Roy weakened it last EP), Bors kills a poison axe brigand, and Chad collects an Elixir. On the next EP, Chad gets mauled by the shaman, while Bors manages to hit a myrm twice with a hand axe(he misses the brigand). Roy kills off the shaman, while Astol and Bors kill off the brigand and archer, respectively. Roy critkills both the myrm and the brigand(looks like the Lilina support is starting to kick in, eh?). My eastern division then chases after the thieves to stop them from collecting all the items on this map. After dealing with the brigands, Lily grills the thief while Roy kills another bandit. As for my western division, Bors had done most of the killing, while Astol pilfered the chests(Saul did some healing). After clearing out the enemies on the southern half of the screen, it was time to face the throne room. The Eclipse druid met an untimely end by Bors, while Astol went for the NW chest. Chad and Astol clear the last of the chests while my offense units go out and destroy the boss's two lackeys. As for the boss, Lilina and Roy beat him to 10HP before Ray killed him in a sea of darkness. Smiley Jim
Chapter 13: Rescue Mission Starting Units: Roy, Lilina, Alan, Lance, Bors, Dieck, Rutgar, Gonzales, Shin, Ray, Saul, Clarine, Lalum, Chad New Units: Miredy Not Yet Joining: Percival This chapter isn't overly difficult unless you try to rush things. Also, there are promoted units on this map. Six of them! As usual, watch out for the ballistae, especially your Pegasus knights(which shouldn't be treading in that area anyway). Speaking of that, you will get a really good unit this map, and if you can hurry your ass over to the NE corner of the map, you will get another good unit. Best to wait until Ch15, because there's less shit between you and Percy in C15(and if playing on HM, he will only have his HM bonuses in Ch15.) I split my army into two equal groups: I sent Bors, Dieck, Ray, Saul, Gonzo, Chad, and Lalum north, while Roy, Lily, Alan, Lance, Shin, Rutgar, and Clarine moved to the east. On the EP, Rutgar gets mauled by two ballistae and a mage, and Bors nearly kills a cavalier. Next turn, Bors and Ray tag-team to off the paladin, while my eastern division destroys most of the enemy blockade to the east. Miredy joins the next turn, after Zephiel moved his ass off the throne. My northern divison finished off the first cavalry wave while my southern front fought their way past the ranged attackers. Next turn, my southern squad had removed the entire blockade, while my other squad headed across the bridge to take on the second cavalry wave. At this stage, Flaer had thrown a wave of dracoknights as cannon fodder towards us. Of course, they are jokes to Shin and Miredy. My northern squad was also attacked, but Bors, Dieck, and Ray made short work of the cavaliers, while Gonzo killed the lone dracoknight. Next turn, Percival fled, but another cavalry platoon took its place. My northern squad positioned themselves at a bottleneck near the arena, while the southern unit carefully lured in the mercenary squad. Meanwhile, Bors killed the killer lance guy and the paladin, then everyone else went for the kill. After that turn, another platoon of cavalry spawned from the SW corner of the map. I sent my south group back to unite with my northern group, dealing with the rest of that mercenary squad(Rutgar killed the hero, and the mercenary dodged 3 death blows before getting killed by Roy.). As for the remaining platoon, the paladin took a killer axe crit to the face, while the rest of his platoon died to Rutgar and Dieck(Alan and Miredy say hi, too). After buying more items and fighting in the arena for a bit, I killed Flaer with Dieck. Roy seized afterward. Your units' movement is severely hindered in desert, with the exception of magic users and fliers. Do not bring cavalry to this map, unless it's a nomad(they have the same move as foot units here.) Actually, don't bring armors here either; they only have one move here(and none of my flying units except Thany can carry Bors, stupid 16 con.) Also, to get the gaiden map, you need to get your ass over to the throne in 25 turns, WHILE keeping one of the worst units in the game alive(and I am NOT kidding on that statement. No, seriously. Sophia is utter crap.) Do not forget to bring thieves since this place has some nice swag. 'Tate is joining us this chapter, not that it means anything since she's only there to ferry people.' I shipped most of my units to the north, and Dieck/Rutgar/Saul to the south. Tate grabbed Astol and headed towards the speedwing square. Miredy uses a dracoshield and Shin uses an Orion bolt. Lilina then killed a mage on the EP and a merc the next turn. Chad claims the boots, while Tate drops Astol off where the speedwing is. Dieck destroys a mage while Rutgar moves out a bit further east. Next phase, Lilina zaps a dracoknight and a dragon master, while Cecilla eats a sleep staff hit. Lily and Miredy start heading for the silver card square; Tate is bringing Astol back. Next enemy phase, Rutgar brings in a dragon master, while Miredy dodges a potentially fatal Aircalibur strike. I then deal with the last of the douches in the northwest, while Dieck finishes off the remains of the dragon master(and finds a silence) and Rutgar moves further up(two dracoknights and a mage attack Rutgar on the enemy phase and Saul dodges the last sleep charge of the bishop.) Next move, Lily and Miredy tag-team the Mamkute; Rutgar removes the dracoknight and next turn, the mage. On turn 8, the two berserker faggots show up in the southwest. Astol gets the silver card, Miredy kills off a mercenary and lures in the killing edge hero, and Rutgar kills off a Mamkute. Over the next three turns, Rutgar and Dieck deal with a mercenary squad, while my northwestern squad finished off the hero and got out of the sand. Miredy grabbed Astol and took him to where the warp staff was. Meanwhile, Sophia found my second guiding ring. As for the boss, I just fed him to Shin. Same with the talisman; I can buy a whole mess of them in the secret shop anyway. Thank god I completed it in 15 turns. I didn't really want to deal with Maggie and Rose. That and my VBA was lagging. Narga_Rocks
(and none of my flying units can carry Bors, stupid 16 con.) http://www.serenesforest.net/fe6/char_base.html Thany has 20 - 4 = 16 Aid. Unless you killed her, she makes this map so much easier. Even at base stats. Just ask dondon. Not that I'm actually recommending using her to ferry Bors of all people, but still. Smiley Jim
Chapter 14x: The Infernal Element Starting Units: Roy, Lilina, Alan, Lance, Bors, Dieck, Miredy, Gonzales, Saul, Clarine This chapter has tiles that periodically disappear(similar to Night of Farewells). If your units get caught in the water, they won't be able to move until the tiles come back. This chapter introduces siege magic; it's like a ballista, only much worse since resistance is scarce in this game. Also, the chapter mostly has pirates and dracoknights, which don't care about water. I started to move all my units downward, having Bors consume my boots on my way down. Only on my second turn, Clarine nearly got one-shotted by the boss's Bolting(she dodged), and several tiles disappeared, trapping Clarine. I had Alan pick her up, and had Miredy and Bors cleave through the rest of the blockade. Next turn, Dieck, Bors, Alan, and Miredy formed a blockade against the pirate reinforcements while my other units were trying to safely get across the now one tile bridge. On my next move, while Bors, Alan, and Miredy were dealing with the blockade of archers and mercenaries, Dieck went back and destroyed the Devil axe berserker(he also killed an axereaver wyvern). Miredy then turns her ass back around and kills off the Eclipse druid, while Bors does the same to the Nosferatu guy. After I got half my units across to the third platform(and defeating the two dracoknights and swordreaver pirate with Lance and Miredy), all the tiles connecting plats 2 and 3 sank, causing all the units I had on those tiles to be stranded. I defeated the enemy wave that was coming from the center platform, while keeping out of range of Oats' Bolting(he 2HKO's everybody I have except Lilina). After the bridges connecting plats 2 and 3 rose up, I had Saul go into overtime healing, gaining a level, and next turn I promoted him. I had also killed the two pirates that had been stalkig me for the last 8 turns. Next turn, the bridges connecting plats 3 and 4 came back, so I had my units rush over there as fast as I humanly could(the center of the bridge sank next turn and I had to pick up Lilina, lest she get stranded). Once on plat 4, I lured in the dracoknight, and let Saul get his first taste of live combat. I then slowly got across to the next platform(Reason being is because the bridges linking rose in increments of 6X2.) Roy kills the mercenary on plat 5 and Saul lures in an archer on the center plat. Now I needed to deal with the boss. Ohtz hits Alan with the Bolting, then the platform disappears...again. Only Bors made it all the way to the throne room, and he killed the generic sage. As for the boss himself, I let him run out of Boltings, then once my units were able to get to his room, Dieck and Bors went for the kill. Parrhesia
Mmm...I think I might log my own first shot at FE6 (admittedly, NM. Definitely giving HM a shot immediately afterwards, though). Except I'll actually listen to what people say.
Smiley Jim
This guy's probably not even listening to you. I was admittedly wrong about some of the things I said before. It's just that I'm biased against pegs in the GBA games. That is all. I did some corrections to my logs(saying that pegs shouldn't go on the southern route unless the ballistae are out of commission and that Thany can pick up my 16 con general.)just to prove that I was listening.
