I dreamt about Fire Emblem

Recommended Posts

Well, no footage appeared in my mind. Instead, I dreamed I was having a conversation about a new kind of hard mode in one of the Fire Emblem games. I was explaining to him that a new mechanic had been introduced where, when an enemy died, its str and mag scores were redistributed to all the other enemies on the map. CRAZY. I then told him that redistributed scores were not redistributed again when an enemy died. Still, totally WTF.

That would make for interesting strategies. Like trying to kill a mage first so the physical units would have lower STR.

If I understand the opening post correctly, the STR stats of the other units wouldn't be reduced. It would increase by a fraction of the dead unit's STR. So as you keep killing more and more units, the remaining enemies will find their STR and MAG stats increasing with each kill. Which would be crazy because the boss would probably cap Str by the time you reach him/her, unless you decide to spare plenty of enemy lives on the way. Which would reduce your EXP growth. Oh, yeah, this is really crazy...

It would DEFINITELY make an interesting mechanic, despite it would be a pain to program.

Sounds like a huuuge challenge but interesting. I'd get scared too though cause everyone I had would be dying by stronger and stronger enemies.

Maybe it'd be like they're rallying and getting stronger with every death because they want revenge. =o But the player team wouldn't have such enthusiasm lol.

*quotes*

He said the stats that were redistributed will not be redistributed again when another enemy dies. The stats that they had originally would still be redistributed over again, so it would constantly be accumulated.

Like, if someone has 15 Str dies, then the other 15 enemies get +1 Str. So another enemy goes from say, 12 Str, to 13 Str. If this enemy dies, only 12 points will be distributed, not 13. I think that's what he meant by "redistributed scores would not be redistributed again". It doesn't change the fact that the living enemies will KEEP seeing their STR rise as you kill their buddies.

Now that you mention it, it would kinda make sense. And it is SUPPOSED to be a special Hard Mode. It might seem like a huge challenge but they could always modify the starting stats (like, make them start off weaker) to make it manageable.

And besides, it's only STR and MGC. All I have to do is train those dodge machines so that they never get hit. Or the glass cannons to OHKO them before the counterattack

I had a dream involving some fire emblem characters. We were fighting Zombies on a cross between a pirate ship and my house. The only character i could remeber clearly was Zihark but im fairly sure Rolf was there too.

As a side note, I doubt this inspired the dream, but this reminds me of some of the enemies in the chronicles of Prydain. I think they are called the hunters of Arawn, their special ability is that they are fairly weak in large numbers but as they die, the remaining ones get significantly stronger (law of inverse ninjas).

You guys actually dream about FE stats and mechanics? Whoa, thats hardcore. I sometimes have that dream where im a pegasus knight.

I don't think I've missed a single Fire Emblem launch without dreaming about Fire Emblem to be honest. My first FE dream I remember the clearly was Thracia 776's chapter 4 strategy. I'll never forget how I dream the strategy to beat that stage.

Not sure that I dream about FE that much. =/

One time though I had a dream that I was an FE character (didn't really have a class I was just there) and I was with the Greil Mercenaries on a ship but it was sinking. D=

And another time it was also kinda like FE 9 or maybe 10 and I don't think I remember any of the characters that were in there, but we were in a swampy setting. I was, again, one of the characters and the water was not a hinderance to me (and probably not to anyone else either) with the only reason being that it was a dream. =D I think I had a sword that time though... Back then I liked swords most but now I think I like bows and lances most. =]

My dreams about Fire Emblem are usually nightmares, like Great Knights and Fire Dragons chasing me down. I also once dreamt of a Fire Emblem that was very similar to Final Fantasy II, in which units increase their stats based on their battle tactics. For example, if a unit is exposed to a lot of magic attacks, he has a better chance of getting Res next level up, or if he is consistently facing enemies with higher AS, he has a better chance of getting Spd next level up. Conversely, if the unit just fights a bunch of weak enemies his stats have a lower chance of increasing next level up.....

About the "remaining enemies get stronger as their buddies die" mechanic, there could be another mechanic to help the player. In Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume, there is an option to make one of your characters 10x stronger for one battle, but they die at the end of the map. Fire Emblem could implement something like this if the player were having trouble with the overpowered enemies. It would be like Shadow Dragon (where you sacrifice people to get sidequests) but this time around, sacrifices could do something useful and there would be a point to it, storyline wise.

The only dream that I've ever had about Fire Emblem is the time when I dreamt that I had to fill in the roles of Jagen in FE11.

Needless to say, it was the worst dream ever.

Except for the time I had a dream about High School of the Dead directing by a Michael Bay + Satan + George Romero - Fanservice + Some weird flashback involving someone taking a ruby which starts the outbreak Drugs are evidently bad for you kiddies, almost as much as High School of the Dead

This reminded me of my dream where I was in the shoes of an unpromoted mage, running around the woods until accidentally bumping into a bandit brigade which sends me running back into the woods, striking them from the shadows and hoping unexpected help arrives.

Since you mentioned FF, since I'm a crossover freak... Had an odd dream where mages of both worlds met, resulting to a rather big... meeting of magic-users.

Fire emblem dreams eh? I recall one after playing the entire Lyn playthrough for the first time in one night...more off a nightmare of being in Erk's place and having to escort Serra. I vaguely recalled getting so annoyed at how she resembled the worst of my sister that I end up abandoning her somewhere to bandits and went home to wake up in my own bed. >_>
