Florete
Exactly what it says on the tin. In this draft we will test to see how powerful Haar truly is and determine whether or not he needs to be banned in future RD drafts. IMPORTANT: This is an experiment draft. There are two qualifications to sign up for this: 1. Be a fairly competent player, both in drafting and playing. I don't need you to be a perfect strategist, but if you're the kind of player who lets common mistakes pass and often ends up with higher-than-average turn counts, or just isn't very competitive in general for drafts, then I will have to ask you not to sign up. The best way to know is to compare your draft scores to what others have gotten. If you've never entered a draft, you'll need to show me some samples of your skill in another way. I don't want to scare people away from signing up, but the logic here is that we can only make accurate judgments if the samples are of similarly high quality. In addition, and this should go without saying, I'll need those who do sign up to take this one very seriously. 2. Finish it! We need as many samples as we can get, so if you plan to sign up, make absolutely sure you can finish in a timely manner. A month or two is a good time frame. [spoiler=Rules]1. 7 Participants will each draft nine units to use in a Normal mode playthrough. The goal is to be the one with the lowest turncount at the end. 2. The following units are free for everyone: Ike, Micaiah, Sothe, Geoffrey, the Herons, the Black Knight and Lehran. 3. Undrafted units may only: recruit characters, trade with units and shove/rescue other undrafted units and NPCs. Everything else incurs a 4 turn penalty. Note that, although they are allowed to Move and Wait, they may not give out any sort of stat bonus, including but not limited to support, Bond, and Dragon skills. 4. Other and Ally units may do as they please without penalty. 5. RNG and Battle Save abuse to your heart's content. Yeah, I'm serious. I want to encourage people to stretch the limits of what units can do to see how fast they can complete maps. Although, try not to make wins be based on a strong of 1% crits. 6. Drafting order is snake style with a reverse on the last round. The undrafted unit remaining will be banned from use. [spoiler=Exceptions to Rule 5]1. One of Edward or Nolan is free in each of 1-P, 1-1, and 1-2 (you don't have to use the same one in each chapter). 2. Volug if free in 1-5. 3. Elincia, Marcia and Nealuchi are free for 2-P. 4. Brom and Nephenee are free for 2-1. 5. One undrafted, non-Lucia unit is free for 2-2. 6. One undrafted, seven-move unit is free for 3-1 7. One undrafted, six-move unit is free for 3-3. Sothe ended up going west while Nolan and Micaiah took east. Nolan wasn't strong enough to handle too much and it prolonged the map. Got the 3,000 Gold, but missed the Robe. Took a bit of doing but was easy in the end. Sothe Rescued Micaiah on turn 2 and gave her to Nolan on turn 3. Nolan dropped her two spaces away from the Armor, whom she killed. Sothe then killed the Longbow Archer, Micaiah moved, and Nolan Shoved Micaiah. Sothe was just able to weaken the boss enough for Nolan to get in a OHKO and let Micaiah Seize. MVP: Nolan Unit Level HP Str Mag Skl Spd Lck Def Res Support Micaiah 12 20 6 18 13 16 20 7 14 A Sothe Sothe 5 36 22 5 23 22 19 16 12 A Micaiah Nolan 3 44 21 5 23 23 14 17 11 1-8: 4/48 Skills: Micaiah - Resolve Sothe - (Guard), Adept, Cancel Nolan - (Nihil), Savior, Celerity Rafiel - (Blessing), Paragon Sothe took east, Micaiah took south, Nolan took west. I don't need to draft those LEAs to make use of them. Vika and Muarim were used to Rescue NPCs in need and Tormod, with Nailah and Volug, moved in such a way so that that stupid Dracoknight would end up in a position where he could attack Micaiah at the end and not any of the Prisoners, causing a suicide. Unfortunately Nolan needed Celerity to get the west area done (Rafiel with Celerity did not work), so he could not use Paragon. I was expecting 8 at best, 9 realistically, so this 7 turns I think is pretty awesome. Ironically, the Black Knight didn't even do much; he just couldn't keep up. Rafiel got the team advancing fast and Sothe, Micaiah, and Nolan ran up killing everything. Watching Micaiah single-handedly clear out all the enemies that came up to her at the top was pretty satisfying, and she made it to level 20. Micaiah needed a Shove (given by BK) on the last turn for the Seize and Sothe and Nolan teamed up for the Jarod kill, though either could have killed him alone, Sothe with an Adept proc (for an exact 3HKO) and Nolan with a powerful Steel forge. MVP: Marcia Unit Level HP Str Mag Skl Spd Lck Def Res Support Marcia 7 36 18 6 19 22 13 16 15 2-1: 5/13 My plan was ruined by...Nephenee critting the first Armor with her 3 crit. As such, I was able to get through quite fast. Nephenee went to recruit Heather while Brom chipped away at Yeardley until Yeardley was defeated on the turn Heather was recruited. I'm pretty sure I also managed to get all the Volunteer BEXP. MVP: Nephenee Unit Level HP Str Mag Skl Spd Lck Def Res Support Brom 3 37 20 4 18 17 14 22 9 2-2: 6/19 I love using non-drafted units in ways that don't get a penalty! My free unit was Heather for Pass and ability to usually combine with Lethe/Brom for KOs. Brom and Lethe did most of the fighting while Lucia defended Leanne from enemies with her aura. Took some figuring out to get 6 turns, but taking advantage of enemy AI (specifically, knowing when that Halberdier would run off to heal himself) got this done with very little luck manipulation. Lethe got the the boss kill. MVP: Lethe Unit Level HP Str Mag Skl Spd Lck Def Res Support Brom 4 38 21 4 18 18 15 22 10 Lethe 21 51 9 6 13 12 18 9 10 2-3: 5/24 Allies and Kieran escorted Astrid. How overrated. Once again I pull off the Marcia + Brom duo kill of Ludveck, this time one turn faster, courtesy of Leanne. Lethe got some BEXP so she could level up before the death blow. I wish Brom could have gotten more Str on his levels, though it is funny seeing him with 4 22s. The Speedwing from 2-3 was for him. Stupid AI reliant chapter. At least I got an extra level out of Mia for it. I tried so many different ways. Boyd went south to the armors, Mia went east, Ike went north and west. Everyone had their job done by turn 7, so the reinforcements didn't technically slow me down. That Warrior caused me a lot of problems and made me use exact positioning to be able to reveal him and have the remaining enemies suicide on Boyd. Lilmik11
I may not be an experienced draft player and my opinion probably doesn't really matter, but I do agree that Haar shouldn't be banned. He may give a great part 3, but he certainly doesn't give a good part 1 or part 4 all by himself.

Florete
Would someone mind explaining the history behind Haar in drafts/Haar's dominance? Thanks. Ironically, in RD drafts of the past, the people who get Haar are usually among those who don't finish. However, it's been determined by some - and added to the generic ruleset - that he's too powerful for drafting and is therefore banned. He is, without a doubt, the strongest part 3 unit a player can have, trivializing it almost entirely on his own. He also can clear 2-E fast, something most players end up needing to take a penalty for, and is a perfect unit for any part 4 route you send him to, especially the desert, which is often a problem but is a joke with Haar. Basically, he's a high availability machine that pretty much never slows down and is the best unit you can have until, like, 4-E-2, and even after that he's still pretty good to have. HF Makalov Fanboy Kai
to me haar seems perfectly fair due to his great part 2 and 3 preformance but his rather terrible endgame preformance, which ofcourse if you can't beat endgame then your fucked. yeah i can see why those who have haar on thier draft team never finish due to that...even if i've never drafted before
Lilmik11
It's funny, since the people who draft Haar ironically gets a bad team most of the time.
Fenrir
Haar is the best unit, if we ban him, down the road will we ban Titan? then Oscar? Are you going to be a part of the resistance against banning Haar? Sadly i can't do another draft, but i'll join this so called resistance. It's funny, since the people who draft Haar ironically gets a bad team most of the time. If you take away the best unit of any team it's not gonna look all that great. Wat. His Endgame Performance is great, just because he isn't doubling bosses doesn't mean he sucks. Also as much as i'd love to sign up, i can't as i haven't finished the other drafts and I don't want them to pile up.
Ring Wraith
First off, this draft will take priority for me over the others I'm currently doing (providing I haven't finished them by the time we start this, which is likely since I have a couple days off and nothing to do this week). Secondly, I'm for banning Haar. He's hands down above the rest, having great availability and great stats. I am, however, concerned with this: Haar is the best unit, if we ban him, down the road will we ban Titan? then Oscar? Comparing it with SS, which Seth is banned (and for good reasons), it has now been brought up that perhaps Franz should be banned. Haar certainly can't be free, but he seems too far above the rest (with the exception of perhaps Titania, but because she's on a horse she's a bit more limited in 3-4 and 3-7, and she also doesn't have the Part II availability Haar has) to have for a normal draft unit. I guess that's what we're trying to find out though.

Psych
I have one idea that may work, especially in HM, but I'm worried it could trivialize the whole future of the drafts. Make Haar free for all. It solves several problems on it's own, but makes a couple more. One unit ends up being undrafted, so making another free could solve that. Plus then it's not "Who's absolutly the best #1 draft?" since you can pick Titania for good part 3 or Edward/Nolan for part 1.
Florete
I suppose I will join. Sounds good. Need one more. That highly devalues every part 3 draftee. And even Elincia (for 2-E).
Psych
You could maybe ban him from Endgame or Part 4 and still have him free. Then you'd still have to raise a half decent team.
Radiant Dragon
Free for all privileges, in my opinion, should only be extended to: the main Lord (and Ephraim and Micaiah), Jeigan and Gotoh archtype units, and units that are necessary when they're around. Haar is none of these. As for the slippery slope argument, I don't believe banning Titania would be necessary, since even if she is the best draft, she's not so much better than everyone else that she's an auto-win pick. Jaybee
Making Haar free for everyone means that you only need to think about Part 1 and Part 4 draftees. You obviously don't have Haar in Part 1, in Part 2 there's only 2-2 to be worried about, and then for Part 3 you only take penalties on 3-1. Haar decimates every other part 3 map that has the GMs. Seriously, Psych, even for you that's a fucking stupid idea.
PKL
Waaat at haar being free. Thatd be so broken lol. The problem i find with haar in normal mode especially, is that he can eat all the part 2 bexp capping everything including his spd. The fact that with celerity he has 11 move plus flight plus canto. The fact that he can promote as early as 3-2. Trivializes 3-3. The fact that he cant die and thanks to bexp he 1rkos everything on top of it with 1-2 range no less. Hes also great in part 4 if u keep his spd up. Hes great in 4-P because he can reach the magic tile quickly and kill everyone there. 28 spd isnt too hard to reach by that time. Then comes the desert, he makes this way too easy if u give him a wing or have 30 spd naturally. Theres a sleep staff user but thats easily solved by having a bad res sothe get targeted instead and restore him with miccy or with pure water. The guy's just too good. At least jill has a slow start and bad bases :s. Oh and titania wouldnt need banning. Shes good but cant lol at every part 3 map with flight. Junkhead
The only part I find that worrysome is at 4-E-1, because of freaking Sleep staves. Otherwise, he can make good use of his Avo and Wardwood.
Radiant Dragon
i was refering to more of " hey nearly all the enemys in endgame have magic and will abuse the hell out of haar's terrible resistance stat". Who cares about Haar's performance in Endgame when he's already trivialized the rest of the game? Besides, Ike and Sothe will have even worse Resistance. Not to mention other units like Tigers, Gareth, etc. The only part I find that worrysome is at 4-E-1, because of freaking Sleep staves. Otherwise, he can make good use of his Avo and Wardwood. The Sleep staff users should be killed on turn 1, since Rafiel is free.
