Hector Mode Casual Play

Sup, everyone. I wanted to do something different for a change on my usual runs. First off, this is my first time playing on Hector's mode, but I figured "Hey, why not record it?"

Lol, but seriously, there are three reasons why I'm recording it: 1) Because I pretty much promised in one of my descriptions of my Eliwood play that I'll do a recorded run for Hector and figured I should just get it over with >_> . 2) I'm not too good at descriptions of playthroughs with text-only. 3)Because you'll be making most of my choices like routes to take (Like Lloyd or Linus in CoD/FFO) and all that good stuff.

I'm not starting the playthrough immediately because I have another normal play for Eli's story that's still going on, but it's now on Ch. 28, so it's practically already done. But I'll be using the time in between it's completion to plan for the Hector run.

Anyway, here's how things are going to work:

- The mode will be played on Normal. I'd like to see how normal is before doing any hard mode runs on my own time. This is just for fun after all.

- Being a playthrough for fun and the fact that I've never seen the dialogue for Hector's story, animations will be On and scenes will occur. But for those who want to see the map battles only, I'll give you the exact time of the where the battles begins. So no worries.

- All Sidequest/Gaiden Chapters will be played.

- I've never cared at all for rankings as I'm not exactly your 'best player', but I'm going to put more effort into my strategizing than my other runs. I'll try to aim for an S or A. I'll be satisfied with either. :) I'll show the results screen for Hector's story at the very end of the playthrough, of course.

- You'll choose pretty much all my units throughout the entire playthrough that I'll put time and slots into to train. I'll be using 14 units, minus Hector. Though I'll have three slots reserved for Fiora, Raven, and Rebecca (Because if I'm aiming for a high rank at the end, I'd like to have at least a small portion of units I'm personally confident in). Besides them, all slots are free. You can give me anyone you want! Even though I basically need a thief, it's up to you if I shouldn't have one for full-time use. Besides that, units that aren't selected will not be used at all and will be taken out ASAP, minus the chapters they are forced.

- Lyn mode will be played depending the units that are chosen, though it'll not be recorded regardless. So don't be surprised to see units that already have experience and higher levels obviously.

- You will choose the alternate chapters I'll take. If you want me to fight Linus in Four-Fanged Offense, then I'll go that route...and so on. Though if the majority sticks me with Wallace or Geitz, I'll have no choice but to go with the route they are needed with the brothers.

--

That's all of it. I may add more or less along the way, so expect 'possible' edits of this OP. Also, for the 'choosing my units and routes', as well as anything else related, I'll pretty much take a majority vote that I'll keep count of myself, so just post away on who you want in and all (Even if it's a list!) and I'll take it from there. Remember, this is all for fun. cool.gif

Use Wil. I'm not trolling, he was fairly decent in my HHM run and he can make the game much more fun because you are using bad units. But seriously I like Wil probably as much as KoT.

I support the idea of using Rebecca, Raven and Fiora. You're going to want a decent healer, so go for Priscilla there. I'll give 5 units I'd personally go for, out of personal bias:

Priscilla (as mentioned, for healing)

Dart (Makes for a crazy Berserker)

Lucius (Awesome Mag, Spd and Res)

Lowen (7-move reliable tank on a horse)

Oswin (Best tank in the game)

I like tanks.

:smug:

Seriously, PEMN.

Wil is horrible.

Get Geitz/Rebecca/Louise for bows imo.

They can double w/o braves.

Wil does well enough in NM. Although that can be said for virtually all units.

I'd like to put Kent forward. Whilst he's not quite as explosively powerful as Sain, I find that he's usually reliable, and isn't quite as slow as Lowen.

All cavs are relible.

Sains the best

Kents the middle one

Lowens alright, even though his growths aren't as epic as Sain/Kent.

Lowen, does have several chapters before the other 2, and has 10 con for steel sword use w/o AS loss.

Also, Lowen can support with Marcus, Eliwood, Rebecca, Isadora, and Harken.

Rebecca offers FirexFire, which is awesome.

Eliwood offers AnimaxFire

Still awesome

Isadora offers Darkx Fire

Still decent

Marcus has IcexFire

Not that good, but it offers more def, to overkill Lowens durability.

Harken has FirexFire

But comes late.

Also, since you're using Rebecca, and may want to use Eliwood for Geitz.

And the rest (Isa, Marcus, Harken) are pretty good.

Lowen fits right in.

Hawkeye, is a nice unit all around.

Awesome bases.

A axes

Wtf Bulky

And with a speedwing+brave axe and killers.

He's golden.

He can lure Vaida in ch26 armoury, while peaklwalking.

And survive!

Isadora is Marcus lite.

She does need a robe, and a body ring or 2, but performs well when she has them.

Also, she's a palladin.

Which is insta-win in my book.

Also, if you kill Fiora, PKL and a bunch of others are going to Maul you. :smug:

I look forward to this.

I'm liking all of these suggestions so far. Keep 'em coming! And don't forget: you can pick more than one unit.

Yeah. If I get enough votes for Isadora to be in, she'll get the robe she comes with.

With a healer being necessary as Railgunz stated, I'll give the other robe to Priscilla in Night of Farewells that's able to be stolen, but I'm not sure if the enemy who has it is even there on Hector's mode, or has it in possession. Does anyone know if it's still there?

Also, if you kill Fiora, PKL and a bunch of others are going to Maul you. :smug:

Haha, I wouldn't dream of seeing my favorite PK die.

The bishop? Yeah, he's still there in HNM. And still annoying if you neglect to bring a restore staff.

So, I'll be able to start this up soon (A few more days if I upload the videos for my Eliwood play on YouTube right now). From the most prefered units after counting on how many users recommended them, these units are in so far, including my three units:

-Raven

-Rebecca

-Fiora

-Priscilla

-Dart

-Lowen

-Isadora

-Kent

-Rath

-Oswin

-Hawkeye

-Geitz

With Lyn and Eliwood basically being forced for quite a bit of the chapters, I might as well train them too. So those two are taking the last two places.

Even though Wil and Sain came first, Rath got one more vote over them both. And since there are only two Orion's Bolts and I might need the Earth Seal for Oswin (Since I'm not sure on how many Knight Crests are available), I couldn't put them in, unless someone corrects me on the number of available promotional items.

But since you guys can still ask for more units to be in for now until I actually start this thing, the units that are in now can of course change. Just thought I'd post something right now as an update. Then if nothing changes over the time, I can just start immediately.

But don't let this stop you from more suggestions of units. Keep them coming if you have more. =)

If you're playing Hector's normal mode, I believe there are three knight's crests that can be obtained. First one's in the chest in chapter 17; the second one you get automatically from an enemy unit in chapter 22 (whatever the unit carrying the crest is, it should charge you so you don't have to go out of your way); the third one is held by a cavalier in chapter 26, and you have to steal it with a thief. So if you use an Earth Seal for the last one, you should be able to use all of Lowen, Kent, Oswin, and Sain. There's also a second Earth seal in chapter 31, but that's probably too long to wait and to be promoting someone ...

So my Eliwood YT playthrough is finally finished (Uploading the videos now). That means I'll be starting this playthrough some time tomorrow...but I have to go through Lyn Mode first. If I turn animations off for her, I can start Hector in no time.

Anyway, today's the last day to request units, as well as deciding on who I will face in Four-Fanged Offense and Cog of Destiny (Seeing as I haven't received any suggestions on those). That way, I can determine whether or not I'll allow Eliwood and Lyn to level up along with everyone else.

Hmm ... I'd suggest that you face Linus first, then Lloyd. Because if you face Lloyd first, you get an annoying fog of war. So on Four-Fanged Offense, fight Linus, and on Cog of Destiny, fight Lloyd.

All right, so it seems like that's all for suggestions. I edited the unit list on the OP, as Sain was replaced with Lucius, so I didn't have to worry about going through LHM for the crest. Last night, I began recording after rushing the hell out of Lyn's mode...and Part 1 is now complete.

Chapter 11:

You can skip to around 5:53 for the map battle.

Since this chapter doesn't seem to affect ranking, I took my time and tried to have Hector gain some levels while fooling around. Nothing too special here other than kicking Wire's ass.

Chapter 12 is still uploading.

Vaida, even if just for Victory or Death.

I guess I can make an exception for her for the later chapters, minus Final Chapter. Wouldn't hurt to have a late-game flier.

Chapter 12:

(3:00 is the battle)

I managed to finish in 6 turns (I believe it was 9 turns minimum for *5 Tactics), which is good. I avoided using the armory for now. I'm just going to take weapons off of characters who aren't in use. I'll only use shops for emergencies. Need to keep a high funds ranking, as I suffer there the most when playing this game.

Chapter 13:

(Around 2:48 is where the battle begin)

I wasn't paying too much attention to my turn count, but I'm pretty sure I made it for 5 starts in tactics again. I still have 18 uses on the Killing Edge, so I'll give that to Raven when he arrives.
