The disorganized smugglers quickly lost morale and fled, only for the the second wave of enemies to herd them back into formation. The leader this time seemed to be a wyvern rider with a wicked blade. Luckily, he dropped his weapon to clutch his face as first the new guy and Aneda the pegasus knight consecutively attacked him, the first stunning his foe and the second inflicting a moderate gash in his mount's side. There was his chance. Blake broke formation and rushed forward towards the beleaguered officer, sword in hand. With a leap, and mighty slashes of his blade, the swordsman struck down his target, and made a clean landing. Next.

Despite the incoming blast of wind, John and Gil held strong in midair, and were able to distract from attacking Raquel. Not that long did they routed them enough to send them hurrying back to their ship.

However, more of them went the opposite way, and the two groups merged and then another assault came. And so the fight resumed.

Fortunately for John, he was soon healed, and so proceeded to remain close and on guard. Blake managed to bring down the leader of this second group, though that left him as a preferable target to the others, so John ordered Gil to fly closer to him.

Slowly but surely, it seems that's how they'd move through the fight. Despite how well they were going, some of them still got injured. Sophia spotted the knight being heavily wounded by a fighter, and so headed over to her to heal her.

And again, everyone was rushing forward and fighting expertly. Norbert noted idly that healers were going around, too. And then he felt his head clearing up the rest of the way. In addition, the cut in his face he hadn't even noticed until now closed up, only leaving the blood that'd already leaked out as a sign of ever having been there. When he looked over to see who it was who'd just healed him, "AGH!!" he was so startled that he nearly fell off of Rizen's back. It was Chelsea. Though she did move on right after healing him, Norbert still hadn't been expecting to see her again, at least up close. Y-yeesh... She's still alive?!

ENEMY PHASE

The old one two three combination saw Motya defeated shortly after his squadron arrived. He was struck violently, twice, and then knocked right off of his wyvern by a third strike. "D-dammit ... no wonder Leonty ... went down ... uuuuurgh." were his last words. Motya's wingmen wouldn't be taking that lying down though, and they weren't about to fall back just yet. They had heads to take. They took off and swooped down on Chelsea and Aneda striking them both as quickly and as hard as they could, aiming to kill but falling just short of doing so. It was good enough and they prepared to move on to the next vulnerable targets. They would not be helplessly bullied like Leonty's men were.

The attacks persisted and John and Gytha were also attacked, though the former to no effect and the latter still remained standing. One of the clerics began treating a survivor of the previous wave. The battle was far from over.

Well, as Chelsea walked away and that thought crossed his mind, a wyvern rider swooped in and Norbert lost sight of Chelsea in the rush of wings. He was a little dumbfounded at the event for a moment, then... Well. Maybe she's not anymore...

Gytha's demand was met with obvious refusal as a sailor with an axe charged at the mariner. She narrowly escaped the blow, sidestepping and ducking while trying to complete the dodge, but it still managed to make a deep gash down her back. He jumped away as she slashed the air between them to make him back off. "Rrg... I could use some help..." she muttered to herself, taking a brief reprieve.

Actions

Once again Faatina had gotten herself hurt, but not badly enough to be taken out of the fight. He thought to heal her since she was the closest, but the enemy almost ran them back in one push, taking down Chelsea and almost getting Aneda as well. Gytha narrowly escaped an encounter. This was bad, but he could only heal one target at a time. Faatina was the closest, so instead of stalling, he ran over and healed her. Oh the frustration of doing healing runs instead of crushing the enemy. It was okay, though. His real target would show up, soon ... the Dark Utka's captain couldn't hide forever, a couple of hours maybe, but eventually! ... yeah, so healing now, killing later. He wasn't going to make it if everyone else got taken out in the meantime.

Their attack on the soldier was successful, and Shadrak was patching up Faatina's wounds from the ordeal. Mission accomplished for the moment. "Foinally. That guy was a pain in the ass. Davod got one of the wyverns out of the way, so Veronika decided to take an opportunity to cut through one of the robed women, impaling her cleanly through the chest.

Robin was starting to find her sealegs, but it seemed that, just as she started to do so, the sea gods started to favor the enemy immensely as several of them landed painful blows upon the party. That was VERY bad! Raising her bow up, she took aim at one of the enemy fighters, aiming for his chest to try and cripple him for the fight. If successful, she would avoid the vital organs and down him. She pulled back her bow, took a deep breath, and...

Another healing burst and Faatina was feeling back at full strength. Giving Shadrak a quick thank you, Faatina rushed at the nearby fighter, who seemed to be almost down himself. Sweeping at him in a wide arc, Faatina left a hearty gash in his leg, and knocked him down into the waters below.

"Hope for his sake he can swim..." Faatina noted, looking at the man flail about in the sea, before continuing forward and seeing a wyvern rider looking rather dazed after having taken a whipping from Davod.

"Looks like you are quite skilled with that whip, Davod. Perhaps you could teach me how it's done some time." She said to him, before taking a whack at the rider, feeling her lance thud against the man's armour without dealing much damage.

Seeing Veronika split off to take on a lone light magic user to good effect, Ranyin decided to make himself useful by approaching a downed wyvern rider. Before doing so, he released another burst of enhancing effect for his two comrades, hoping that it would help them in their tasks.

Drawing upon the dark magic again, Ranyin released the first strike with impressive force...and a second one that was meant to erupt in the face of his foe for good measure slaying the poor rider and mount together.

It happened again; the leader was cut down and their ranks began to fall apart. The same soldier spoke up, yet again. "WE'VE HAD IT!!! FALL ... BACK, DAMMIT!!! FALL BACK!!! WE CAN'T TAKE ANYMORE OF THIS!!! REGROUP ON THE MAIN DECK AND SOMEBODY GET NESTOR UP HERE!!!" The order made sense to them, so the entire group fell back keeping their weapons drawn and poised to make sure they weren't stabbed or shot in the back. It was a shameful retreat, but once aboard the Utka, they would have even more reinforcements, no doubt.

Raquel hesitated to give chase, but this was what they were really hired to do ... not defend the Leverager, but to attack the Dark Utka. It was risky, but the extra teams mentioned by Bogdan had already moved to flank Raquel's entire group. The captain was true to his word, and now that the main deck was secured, they had the group's back. If nothing else, it would be impossible to hit them on all sides. "Okay, let's finish patching ourselves up, and then go after them!" Raquel ordered.

When her back began to hurt less, Gytha took it as a good sign she was getting healed. Unfortunately, she could also tell that the back of her tunic had a large, narrow hole in it now. Well, fighting now, cosmetics later. Her back was still somewhat injured, but it wasn't as bad as before. She felt confidant enough to attack again. Though again, the enemy was backing off. Good. Clearing the way so that they could take the ship was a good use of time, though Gytha didn't want to give the enemy much time to prepare. It was time to move. Going alone wasn't going to be any good, though.

"Come on!" she called over her shoulder to the rest of Raquel's forces as she charged over the bridges to continue in their fight against the Dark Utka.

We're going after them already? Well, fine. Norbert rode over to Ranyin as the enemies were driven off. "Time to fly," he informed as he reached down, picked up the short mage and seated him behind him, "hold on." With that, Rizen began galloping forward a short ways before flying up into the air and flying over the bridges to give chase to the Dark Utka crewmen.

Robin took a moment to steady herself. Things were going surprisingly well. She was still unhurt and unwounded. "Thank you Mirelle." she said, trying to smile as best she could as she knocked another arrow to use and set her mind to focusing to try and make this next one down a foe.

The tides had turned once more. The enemies were on the retreat once more, and it looked like this time they would be boarding the Utka. Despite some already starting to head over, it was ideal to take this chance to prepare for it.

On the other hand, the enemies had manage to land some heavy blows. Sophia looked around, and saw the pegasus rider from before was now attacked by one of the wyvern riders. She headed over and healed her.

As Chelsea finished healing Norbert and tried to make her way out of the battlefield, she was surprised by an attack from a Wyvern knight... you can guess how this turned out.

A couple of seconds later Chelsea was lying on the ground, a slash wound visible on her clothes, and blood was pouring out of her stomach.

"GAAAAAAH"- she yelled as pain surged throughout her body, sending her into spasmic shocks. It seemed as though the wound she received at the mansion had not yet healed. The slash wound was too great.

"GAAAAH- Fuuu-- I have to get outta here. Can't take much more!!"- Chelsea reached for her healing staff to try and patch the wound herself, but to no avail as she could not reach for it. Swearing loudly, she painfully decided to do something that everyone might hate her later on for, but honestly she couldn't give a damn right now. She was too weak right now, and no one was gonna care. She wouldn't be surprised if no one noticed. Flopping herself on her back, which earned her a painful yelp, she slowly crawled back to the Leverager. If she got herself to someone along the way, then better. She would just ask them for a heal staff.

Chelsea seems to be retreating.

Intermission

As Chelsea fell back from her allies, she nearly ran headlong into the reinforcement teams who were preparing to follow Raquel's people across. One of them grabbed her(gently) to help her keep her balance and said. "You're gonna be alright. Get to one of our medics." Shadrak noticed this and turned to head back and investigate, but the Leverager crewmen waved him off, urging him to stay with the group. Well that just sucked. He'd have to remember to be diligent next time. He'd make it up to her by killing the wyvern rider who did that to her, at least. That was the new plan, and with a reluctant nod toward the crewmen, he fell back in with the others and crossed over to the Utka's main deck.

And unsurprisingly, there were even more combatants waiting for them this time ...

"You people do not waste any time ... but now you die ... <you pathetic mercenary dogs!"> Nestor greeted them angrily.

"The real battle starts here. Attack!" Raquel ordered, partially out of fear, but also out of a desperate urge to win the battle, save their hides, and find out what in the blazes happened to Reign.

"Thank you, but you don't need to call the medic, just get me my staff and I'll just-" Chelsea stopped talking to see that enemy reinforcements had arrived yet again. Her eyes twitching, her mouth doing the same, she changed her expression to an severely pissed one. Then she started yelling in Kigen, which was new.

"<MOTHER OF MERCY WHAT IN THE NAME OF BLEEDING WRATH IS THIS CRAP!! WHAT IN TRUTH'S NAME MADE YOU GET EVEN MORE PEOPLE!! WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU GET OFF CALLING REINFORCEMENTS YOU BLOODY MAGGOTS!! SCREW THIS PAIN, THIS SH->" The troubadour blinked, pausing mid-rant to hear herself correctly.

Oh dear... She would have a field day with this. Settling for a frown, the young girl got out her tome of light and staggered her way across the battlefield, mumbling to herself "<No mercy for em.>"

Now they were on the deck of the Dark Utka. There was a sensation Gytha wasn't sure she'd felt before, though the unfamiliar part was largely masked with an old feeling. Back when her only constant ally was Maw, that feeling of fighting back pirates and following her captain's orders, diligently defending ship practically covered up the new sensation of being on the deck of the enemy in the effort to take their ship. There was something just right about it, and yet strange. Her focus wasn't on that particular feeling, however. Instead, for now, she simply felt like progress was being made and the need to keep pushing forward until the task was complete. And so, giving no quarter, Gytha rushed a bowman from the Dark Utka.

The bowman saw Gytha coming and fell back to try and avoid her sword, but the swing still managed to cut deeply into his arm. Even then, though, he was drawing back his bowstring.

"YARGH! Why'd ye have t' do that?" Gytha loudly complained as the arrow he shot stuck into Gytha's shoulder. The bowman really didn't know how to answer that.

After Norbert landed on the deck of the Dark Utka, he picked up the mage from his pegasus and set Ranyin down so his feet were on deck planks again. From there, he wondered what to do next. Ranyin could likely take care of himself, but he still sort of wanted to stay by him at least until Veronika showed up. Luckily, that very thing happened in short order, so that freed Norbert up to go smash something. Gytha was fighting an archer a bit of a ways away from where they were. She'd managed to hurt him but he was still fighting back and there was an arrow sticking out of her shoulder. That couldn't be good. Well, might as well start there. he decided before twisting to give a quick message to his teammates, "I'll be right back." Then, he rode Rizen across the deck to help out the mariner.

The archer heard hooves. That couldn't be good. When he looked up and saw a man on a pegasus galloping towards him, he tried to avoid the incoming blow, but the pegasus was simply faster and the last thing he felt before everything went black was something hard impacting the side of his head. After the blow, Norbert turned Rizen around so her side was facing Gytha. "Hey, are you alright?" the pegasus rider asked.

"Aye, I'm fine," she replied, "Just need someone t' take out this arrow. ... Actualla, never mind that." She just yanked it out herself.

"Hey, wait! By Truth, what's the matter with you?" Norbert asked, a little irritated. She'd acted before he could stop her.

"I just need someone t' heal me n' that arrow'd get in th' way if I'm attacked b'fore then. I can still fight."

"You're crazy."

"Maybe."

The enemy had retreated again, which allowed Veronika a chance to impale the fleeing cleric in the back, killing him instantly. Never even saw it coming...

Gytha seemed to be howling about a shot in the arm after charging into a bowman. And that's why I stick to healin' Nadya thought to herself, healing the mariner again. Gytha 8/21--> 20/21 +2 Nadya, Shadrak

Nadya soon joined the two and Gytha's back was fully healed in addition to most of the arrow wound. Her tunic was a bit bloodier now, though, and had a small hole in it from the arrow. "Thank ye," she thanked Nadya.

"Tch. You might not be lucky enough to have a healer around next time," Norbert mentioned before turning Riz about and heading back to Ranyin and Veronika, the latter of which had just killed another enemy. Looks like we're doing pretty well. "How are you two holding up?" he decided to ask.

Another big boss wannabe getting between them and the captain. This had to stop before attrition began to whittle down their fighting strength. Shadrak put away his healing staff and brandished his tome once again. It was time to send an enemy to a watery grave. "Hey you! Dark magic will always triumph over anima!" he proclaimed before blasting the mage in the chest and pushing him to the brink of death. He shot right back though but Shadrak's barrier dispersed a good deal of the energy. He was knocked back a meter, but remained standing and was ready to blast the mage again if no one had the common sense to flank them. He would get off a zippy one liner before that happened, though. "See? Dark magic is superior."

Faatina rushed onto the Ukta, and seeing Shadrak nearly take down a Mage on the lead team on the enemy, side, Faatina lunged towards him. The Sage was lined up behind him, if she aimed this right she could skewer the both of them.

The plan was a success, and as her lance pushed cleanly through the mage, feeling slight resistance at the defensive barrier it enshrouded him with, but still carrying enough force to jam itself deep into the Sage's gullet. It was too late to stop the spell he was casting, however, and the massive spell circle appearing behind the Sage.

"... Thoron."

The electric blast shot out well, like lightning, and engulfed Faatina in an instant. Every nerve in her body was rapidly spasming, the only constant was the ever increasing pain.

"G-gahhh!" Faatina let out a bloodcurdling scream with what little strength her body could muster, as she was fired backward onto the deck of the Ukta, clothing singed, armour sparking, and skin burned, the remnants of the powerful shock leaving her frame in naught but an unconscious spastic twitch.
