[FE8 RR] First Draft

Guys, whenever you see this:

In FE8, the forced promotion seems to be automated to the Great Lord classes rather than promoting the class (like in FE6/7 where Karel/Athos automatically went to their "proper" class). So we could

A. Ban the Ch. 16 autopromotions

B. Let people do it because Sieglinde Knoll

I am thinking about modifying the Juna Fruit to a promotion item that only works for Pupils and having Saleh start with one.

Edit: nvm Heaven Seal is still in the data (albeit with the name and description DUMMY) so I just used that. It works now. I'm gonna see if I can add Brigand to the Ocean Seal since I bet it's not on there or something.

Prologue: Okay, Knoll sucks. He is doubled by the boss, has single digit Avoid, and faces crit against everything. However, he does a metric ton of damage and will Luna Crit on Turn 1, so Syrene can then switch him out to Flux (since he gets doubled by the generics with Luna) and fly away. On turn 2, finish the Fighter off. On turn 3 we can heal up as we run away from the boss, attack him on Turn 4, and finish him with a counter on enemy phase.

Chapter 1: If the Solders proc enough Speed, Knoll won't be able to double them unless he also procced Speed. Anyway, I basically had Rennac do most of the heavy lifting while Knoll took kills. Knoll with +Speed at some point doubles the boss for an "easy" ORKO (as far as that goes when you have 60 display). I think Duessel or Rennac should be free for this chapter because LOLRAVEN AND REFA ARE FUCKED.

Chapter 3: Knoll is actually able to OHKO the Thief in this chapter, which is pretty cool. Cormag can fly into the room before Bazba with no fear since his Defense is bonkers, then let Rennac and Knoll cleanup. Rennac handles the boss easily.

Chapter 4: Cormag flies down near Gerik's village to kill the enemies there, then flies over to the boss. Rennac takes out the reinforcements from behind and Knoll takes out the east side (barely).

Chapter 5: Rennac used the Goddess Icon for some extra avoid. Cormag nabs the Dragonshield as Rennac baits Amelia on Turn 1. Turn 2, we recruit Amelia, have Cormag take her nice lance and use the shield, then get danced to get near the boss. Amelia takes Innes and runs off as Knoll and Rennac kill some dudes. On Turn 3, Cormag attacks the boss, gets a level up on enemy phase for +Str/Spd (finally got some speed jesus) to give him the speed to double the boss when he attacks.

Chapter 6: Cormag picked up Rennac, Tethys Danced him, and he flew over and dropped Rennac to get vision of the boss and take some enemy phase pressure off him. Turn 2 he swooped over and introduced the boss to his killer lance. Knoll durdled.

Chapter 7: This could have gone a lot faster but Cormag's hit on the boss was pretty shaky and I couldn't drop Knoll on Turn 1 because he just dies. I did get the Energy Ring though.

Chapter 8: Kyle isn't as good at avoiding penalties as Ephraim due to lack of Reginleif, but I managed. I quickly moved north, since Cormag ORKOs the Knights in the Angelic Robe room with Steel. The boss was a bit annoying since I only had a 50% hit rate with Cormag. Fortunately, doubling and killer weapons are amazing things. Took Knoll route.

Chapter 15: Rennac takes Audhulma and heads off with an Elixir to go solo Caellach and friends and pick up Warp. Forde kills the Zerker to the east and sticks around for reinforcements, as Cormag goes to get the Master Seal to promote and everyone else heads trecks through the desert. Forde promotes to Great Knight on Turn 2 or so. Had Rennac pick up the Body Ring too.

Run up near the boss. Throw guys at him til he dies. Most of my team couldn't survive a round of combat with him which was pretty sad so I don't have stats for... Myrrh or Neimi or Rennac but they didn't gain any EXP in Final anyway.

Unit thoughts

Knoll: Despite starting out ORKO'd by just about everything and not really ever improving much in that department, summons are hax and his offense is pretty nice. Can Nosferatu tank like a boss unfortunately you don't get one til Ch. 17 ;_;

Kyle: Kind of sucked. Mine was too slow to ever really do much other than OHKO monsters with Siegmund

Cormag: Cormag is a monster and the only thing stopping me from saying he should be banned is that getting an Elysian Whip costs turns meaning he cannot promote until partway through Ch. 15

Rennac: Was a lot more useful than I expected him to be. The only unit on my team that really had better offense was Cormag and sometimes Knoll. I am pretty sure mine was noticeably above average but still, with Audhulma he did some work.

Natasha: LOLWARP. Probably a good idea to have her be a Valk since as a Bishop she'd wreck the monster chapters even harder and have more mobility in the desert

Neimi: Sucks, but at least ORKOs monsters with Beacon Bow/Nidhogg and flyers with whatever

Forde: Isn't great but is still a decent combat unit with a horse.

Seth: Pretty underwhelming unless you want to Triangle Attack the demon king. Then again most late picks are.

Chapter 7 - 6/40 turns

Duessel got danced once and Saleh protected Tethys behind, Dozla slowly crossed the river and helped out.

Chapter 8 - 4/44 turns

Knoll purewatered on turn 1, and he had to dodge a steel lance on turn 3 (one of two). Duessel ORKO'd fucknugget with the armourslayer.

oh yeah duessel promoted at level 14 or 16 can't remember

Chapter 9 - 7/51 turns

Duessel so broken

Tana dropped him down south, and he killed everything, while Saleh, Dozla, Knoll and Tethys took out the rest of the map. Tana ORKO'd Joshua with a slim lance lol.

This chapter annoyed the hell out of me- I feel like I could've shaved a turn somewhere, but it just wasn't working for some reason (Paperblade tell me your secrets). It requires Kyle to crit some random enemies and hit a whole myriad of them, while being able to double them and all that shit. ie it's not reliable in the slightest.

I rushed everyone north. Tethys is the reason why I managed to get this 3 turn, because she danced Ewan and Gerik whenever I needed her to; Ewan got the boss kill (4HKO with Thunder at like 70% displayed, not too bad).

Charged the right side etc, I had to rig a bunch of misses onto Knoll (well not "a bunch" but at least 1-2 a turn) so that he wouldn't die along the way. Also, Ewan/Gerik combined for the boss kill, and Innes/Marisa suck.

No mounts really screwed me here, and Ewan 5HKO's the boss reliably so that was nice. Used the Goddess Icon on Knoll after this chapter. I had everyone rush north, and Ewan took care of the armors, the boss, and half the people in the throne room (had to rig one 60% shot to miss on Knoll in order for him to survive against the other half of enemies). Ephraim and Kyle got the southwest done pretty well (Kyle hit Level 10 so he can be max level when he gets back), and Gerik got Innes another level up. Marisa killed enough enemies to get 2 level ups here (haha!) which is also cool.

Promotion for Ewan occurred on Turn 6; I had Tethys dance him so he could get 30 EXP in the Arena.

Promotion for Gerik and Knoll happened during Preparations of Chapter 11, so I decided to record their stats.

I just rushed people east while Lute/Artur tried to survive. Having Natasha as a physic staffer was nice.

Aside from that, short of a million criticals and dodges with a Phantom, there's no way to clear this in less than 8 turns with my massive team >_> On the bright side, I did clear it in 8 turns. And Knoll gained a level. Ephraim hung back, Knoll/Marisa/Lute took the middle, and eventually Lute made her way upwards while Innes/Ewan/Gerik took the north. Innes was pretty effective with a Steel Sword.

Had Moulder use the Energy Ring after the chapter. Hopefully I can get something good out of Warp.

I could've finished it on Turn 9, but I wanted to get the secret shop. It gave me a Guiding Ring that I could give to Lute next chapter. Other than that, I went through the right, had some characters kill off enemies in the left (because there wasn't much need for offense). I recruited Gilliam in the end, just for that Member Card.

Kyle was promoted after Chapter 15's end, Lute was promoted in chapter. I gave Knoll the Swiftsoles.

I actually don't remember what level I made Lute use a Guiding Ring, but I had it done in-chapter because I wanted Lute to reach the other end of hte desert before she became a Mage Knight. I had Moulder staff like crazy so I could promote him and have him have good Magic in time for the later parts of the game, especially for Warp.

Gerik/Lute/Kyle/Ephraim killed off everyone down south, Knoll took care of the Pegs (and Innes with his Longbow killed off some other ones), Marisa went and got the village. Ewan/Innes/Marisa killed off everyone in the northwest corner, and Ewan killed Caellach. Gerik killed Valter.

tana can eat a ballista and it has shitty hit on her, she needs to dodge one of two shots

rescue drop duessel turn 1, rescue give knoll turn 2 to duessel, drop knoll somewhere safe turn 3, kill boss turn 4.

I had to do this in 3 turns because I don't have Rennac so I can't use a Torch, and I don't have a Torch staff either. I basically had to charge my way through, and then I warped Gerik on the very last turn so he could kill Riev with a Brave Axe.

Chapter 20: 3/126

Forgot to get stats

Had to rush Moulder, Gerik, and Knoll over as fast as I possibly could. Myrrh feasted on some enemies to the left with her Dragonstone (she OHKO'd like everything) while I did all of this. Moulder Warped both Knoll and Gerik over, and I had to rig either a critical on Morva or a miss since Gerik too way too much damage from Riev, but either way I got it done and Knoll seized Turn 3. Myrrh finished off Riev.

Well fuck this chapter, I had Moulder rescue Myrrh and Myrrh just went up and solo'd the fuck out of the north. It took her 5 turns to do this because of random enemies blocking her and she had no 1-2 range, otherwise she'd be done in 3 turns. She had to get a 20% critical on Lyon twice on EP in order for this strategy to work (since he has 100 hit on her so I couldn't do this on PP).

Phase 2 took only 1 turn, I had Myrrh and Gerik march up to the demon king and cockslap him with Dragonstone and Garm (28x2) respectively. I think that did all but 22 HP, so luckily Knoll had *just enough* to kill him with a 30% Luna hit.

So I counted correctly!

And there it is. Character analysis;

Knoll - Knoll became very useful after I gave him my second guiding ring, but until then he was absolute shit. Early on he is some shit, but later on he is one of your most useful units, doing a lot of damage and being able to summon, as well as Heal occassionally (though Summoner Knoll was still at E Staffs).

Innes - I had to baby him to make him marginally useful, thankfully he didn't cost turns to baby. He sorta blew, but having an extra mount is always nice, especially one that can chip from the back. His earlygame chip is nothing to write home about and is unreliable as shit. He's ok at best.

Tethys - Dancer blah blah blah

Ewan - this is my nigga right here, from the very first chapter he joined he killed shit like nothing else. He is ridiculously fast and powerful upon coming in and this aspect about him does not change at all. I gave him my first guiding ring without a second thought and it was a great decision. My MVP in my playthrough, he mowed through hordes of enemies like nothing else, and he dodge tanked like nothing else. Seriously, he is a very good first pick, because the reason why I had points where I caught up to Paperblade's TCs were because Ewan is that fucking powerful.

Marisa - She sucked so much, she barely did damage and she was made of paper. At least she doubled and had a Shamshir, but even then she had a ton of problems. Definitely a last pick, but if you're desperate for early game units I guess you can get some use out of her.

Gerik - My #2, he was a little shaky starting out but I got him there. He became one of my primary boss killers along with Ewan, and he could take on an army and still have like 35+ HP left. He was responsible for killing most of my bosses and his str/spd with Garm were absolutely incredible. I could see him going out on the second or third round. It's great for him that Hero Crests come so late, because that gives him so many more levels to work with.

Ephraim - Better pick than most units here, that's for sure. He's not bad by any stretch of the word, but he is better at what he does than Kyle is, so I'm glad I gave him the Great Lord promotion and not Kyle. It's a shame he promotes so late, but he is like vanilla Ephraim with lower base spd; durable and hits hard and fast, and it doesn't matter how shaky his start is when you have him in the chapter, because he kills Cavaliers like nothing else. A lot of his kills in my game were Cavaliers.

Lute - Nothing too special, she has very little durability and she costs a Guiding Ring (even though she comes with one). Her AS suffers at points before promotion, and making her a Mage Knight before Chapter 15 has a lot of drawbacks; she was key in Chapter 15 for me, but I had to be really careful and at times rig misses on her because she is that bad at staying alive. Lute's definitely not horrible, but I think Artur is more useful.

Moulder - Responsible for my endgame warping, if only I had a Hammerne. He's easy to build up, and you need to put a bunch of resources into him but he does not disappoint, since he comes at a time when you will need Warp to catch up with your competition. Getting him to Level 10 is a joke, and honestly I got way better levels with Moulder than any other unit on my team, so I can see him going before Ephraim and Gerik in future drafts.

Kyle - Not horrible, but his speed sucked for me and his availability sucks. I got him to Level 10 before he left though, so I'm happy that he was Level 15 when he came back and I could promote him to Paladin immediately. He's not horrible, but he could be better and I'm curious to see how he'd shape up in his own route.

Myrrh - Exactly the same as vanilla Myrrh.

Chapter 16 - 3/86 turns

If Saleh could warp this could have been 2 D:

but he silenced two dudes (the purge dude so i could get his tome especially) and killed Orson with excalibur. He also got the body ring.

Chapter 17 - 2/88 turns

GARM!ROSS left Lyon with 1 HP so Tana got the kill and i am perfectly ok with that

Tana rescued Saleh, and was danced by tethys. She was warped ahead by artur, and dropped Saleh down and right of Morva with excalibur equipped and canto's next to riev with vidofnir so wrinklypants can't hit saleh. on the EP, Saleh ORKO's Morva, and has enough HP (4) to live through the two evil eyes and everything else except Riev has shit hit on Tana. Artur warps Knoll, and Saleh rescues him, hitting A staves at the same time, and Knoll seizes.

Chapter Final Part 1 - 1/98 turns

Pure Water + dance + warp + attack + physic + EP attack

need one 16% in 4 attacks.

Chapter Final Part 2 - 1/99 turns

Duessel (18/120) + Knoll grab Vidofnir + Tana (35/120) + warp Myrrh attack (78/120) + warp + tethys + myrrh = gg (121/120)
