Samias
I'm a animation student, though right now I don't have any school and am kind of winding back for the few months I have off. I link to my DA in my signature but I realized I haven't posted any samples of my art, plus I want to show off some things that aren't a part of my deviantart. My less-frequently updated blog - There are some things here that are not featured on my DA, though, mostly to do with my layout work. I draw a lot of human characters, and I'm kind of a low-detail sort of person. I was heavily inspired by Inuyasha, Fire Emblem, Golden Sun, and Zelda growing up, so you can probably see those influences in my work even today. Strawman
AH, those drawings on your blog and those 2 characters here are awesome. Those two characters specifically make me think of the character design styles in like Atlantis, The Iron Giant, and that space movie made by the same people. I forget what animation studio that is, but your work reminds me of them. Its nice! I could definitely see the 2nd one being a character in like a legit movie. Mercakete
Wow, I really like your art style. Excellent job on the shading and how the clothes lay on the characters. :
Samias
Thanks for the many comments. It's greatly appreciated. Right now I am kind of broke so I'd like to take commissions, so I'll probably drum up some details soon.

Samias
I was lazy all summer, but the other night I actually sat down and sketched some new things. They are not great but me and my tablet at home don't get along so well sometimes.

Mercakete
Those are pretty. :3 And You're pretty great at posing and anatomy. I'm really impressed with the sleeping girl's legs. They bend where they're supposed to and how they're supposed to. It works very well. Though I think her right arm/hand might be a bit small. Could be wrong, though. Samias
Sorry for the late reply, I just didn't want to be spammy in case I had a quick update of sorts. With the sleeping girl, there's a few anatomy problems that I didn't catch as I was shading it. Her arm is probably a bit too short, but I think it was mostly because her upper portion of her chest, where the neck is meeting, is too short. it could also be the failings of bad foreshortening! I drafted it out many times but I never did pick out all the problems. Anyway, I love constructive criticisms, since I obviously want to put my work at a more "professional' level. I feel like I'm not *quite* there yet and it may be in no part a failing of my summertime laziness. Speaking of lazy, I usually only bother with drawing portraits on my home tablet because the resolution means I can't just draw everything at once the way I like to do on paper/on the computers I use at school. I drew his hat too low and it makes his whole head wonky. Oh well. I try to work with both a cel-shaded and painted look depending on my mood, though I think I'm much better at cel-shading. Mew
I like this portrait, I don't think the hat makes his head terribly wonky :V it'd be a pretty easy fix to just redraw the back part of his hat that touches his head to conform more with the shape of his head. I'm kind of in the same boat too with like, being super desperate for any critique ever because I feel like I'm getting closer to where I should be I don't think the mix between cell-shading and painted is bad either, it only looks flat imo because you only seem to be taking a darker shade of each color to create value instead of using different colors. I think if you used, you know, some like purple shadows and yellow highlights or different kinda complements it would make your coloring a little more vibrant (and potentially fun to do?) Anyways though, I like your style a whole lot, it's like cartoony with a fantastic understanding of human anatomy. And depending on the rigor of your program and how many classes you're taking, you totally deserve to be lazy over the summer
Samias
We have colour theory next year, so my colouring will PROBABLY get better, but I love getting colour advice because that's really my weakest point. As far as anatomy goes, during the school year I have life drawing anywhere from 2-3 times a week. Last semester it could go up to 4 sessions a week. I have probably murdered many trees with the amount of newsprint I go through with tons of anatomical gesture drawings. I'm glad all that work kinda shows through in my artwork. I swear this will be one of the last boring portraits I do! Summer's almost over and I can't wait to use the school computers again. My 6x4 tablet makes me so sad. Phoenix
She is beautiful ... and sort of reminds me of no less than eight other characters(some of them being my own) Sooo tempted to make a request after seeing that one and looking back over the thread, but I'm not sure if should ... do you even do requests?
Samias
I do want to do requests to get back in the shape of things before September, so fire away! I was sketching stuff on the bus so I figured I would throw in a pencil sketch here (fixed!) I fussed over this way more than how it looks. Go figure. Sariya
First time checking out this section, and I happen to stumble upon such an awesome artist, haha. I love your style of drawing, and your sense of scale and anatomy (especially in the first two) is pretty impressive; especially considering I've been working on both fields myself just recently. Totally watching you on DevArt. : )
Samias
I'm working on a bunch of pictures at the same time. I smeared this out in about an hour and I'm pretty happy with the result in an hour.
Samias
I just got set up at school! I am in the midst of wrestling with my Cintiq and also reinstalling stuff. Dropbox was being finicky with user permissions so I worked on what was meant to be a quick sketch... ahaha... well I suppose I didn't spend time on cleanup. Or perspective. Samias
So like, I moderate a tiny forum where I RP, and I just finished one that I obsessed over for like 2 whole years. So in the middle of a lecture I started doodling most of the cast as their opposite sex twin. BEHOLD. GIANT PICTURES REMOVED FOR SANITY. Samias
This is another doodle. I made this one character long ago with really great hair. She used bows and thus I decided to make her somewhat like an FE archer in appearance. Her feet are laaazy.
buttmuncher.ops
cute! i can't decide if her hair's auburn or red though
Samias
I definitely made her hair a very odd shade between orange, brown, and highlights done in scarlet red. Ginger but not too ginger :Da This time, I'll post something done by hand! Sort of. I shaded it on the computer but the lineart is just a bunch of fineliners. I was thinking of colouring it with marker but that may come later.
