Dat Rules (borrowed/stolen from Integrity)

- Ratings are assumed to be on Normal.

- Votes need some explanation regarding their gameplay performance to be counted. If somebody has already given good reason for a score +/- half a point from yours, you can decide not to explain your score, but I always encourage personal reasoning. Incredibly low scores or high scores without proper justification will not be counted. Don't put in some random text thinking it'd count as justification. Put in at least a little thought and give REAL reasoning.

+/- ≤1 point extra regarding personality/appearance is encouraged, but no more. If you exercise your bias privileges, please do so explicitly. Also, if your vote is already a 10/10 or greater than 9 and you give a full point of bias, The score may not exceed 10!

- Numerical votes out of 10, or something proportional to it. Make it easy to calculate for my sake.

- Every ranking phase ends from 2100 to 2200 EST. Every ranking phase starts from 2200 EST to 2300 EST. Do the math if you are in another timezone!

- I will insist you do not use the "Not X" reason on any character, where X is another unit. If you do, your vote will be thrown out.

- "Recruits X" or "takes you to X chapter" arguments are explicitly banned. C'mon, people, this shouldn't need to be a rule. That's not gameplay performance.

- Assume that the character in question is being recruited.

- Similar to the "Recruits X" rule, do not use "He Comes with a Free Weapon" as an argument.

- I withhold the privilege to tell you your rating is bogus and demand you revise it if it breaks any of the above. I will not throw out votes anonymously, you will be informed and given a chance to revise.

(I'm tempted to change the character names to the patch names)

For a prepromote he has some very mediocre bases: 4 base skill, 2 base speed, 1 base luck, 0 resistance. He makes this up by high base defense and strength. He does have very decent and well-rounded growths, however, except on luck. He'll be very useful during chapter 2 and 3 as he's one of the few people in Celica's team who can actually take a hit. In chapter 4 he will probably fall behind a bit as he simply lacks the movement that other promoted characters do have, especially your falcon knights who'll probably be pretty much mainly leading this party at that point, and when more enemies use magic attacks later on (and can warp) he'll also be in problems with his 0 resistance.

7/10. One of your most reliable units on Celica's team during chapter 2 and 3, after that he may fall behind a bit but I still recommend using him for being one of the few tanks in Celica's team.

I'd say that Valbo's decent, fills a major need for a tank on Celica's team but is nothing outstanding. Since he's prepromoted his bases fall under scrutiny: his HP, str and def are good for his team and starting point but still nothing impressive compared to Armours' class bases and his skill, speed, luck and res are poor so it's fair to say he's a specialised unit. His growths complement his bases and class well and will make him more rounded over time but he's still a unit specialised to do one job (tank) and isn't very versatile. He's also not helped by all the desert in chapter 3 and when endgame rolls around and you need to choose your team carefully his lack of versatility and movement starts to hurt.

6.5/10, a specialised unit but one who fills a niche and does it well

The desert slows all your non-magic and non-flying units to 1 space a turn I believe, so that's not even too much to his disadvantage ;)

Actually this is right and I was just being a twit earlier: all non-flying, non-magic units are slowed to 1 space per turn which actually works in Valbo's favour as he's now the same speed as everyone else

Make this my vote as well.

With a leathershield on him, I found him to be a great tank against the annoying chapter 3 Sniper and Demonfighter bosses and pretty decent filler otherwise. Unfortunately, his usefulness wanes in chapter 4 like most other characters, but at least he can help save some grinding in chapter 3. 6.5/10
