[FE7] HNM Caps and Predictions Draft

This is a terrible idea, but Jedi convinced me to go through with it. So here we go!

Drafting:

1. This draft is for 5 players.

2. Hector, Eliwood, Lyn, Marcus, Matthew, Ninian/Nils, and Athos are free for all to use.

3. Bartre and Karla will be drafted as one unit.

4. Geitz and Wallace will be drafted as one unit.

5. Marcus is banned after Chapter 17.

6. The game will be played on Hector Normal Mode, skipping Lyn Mode.

Rules:

1. Undrafted units may recruit characters, rescue undrafted units and NPCs, trade, visit Shops and Armories, and dig up items in the desert.

2. Undrafted units may not do anything not listed above, including but not limited to meatshielding, building Supports, opening Doors or Chests, talking to Fargus in Chapter 17x, or Seizing Castles in Chapter 25.

3. All Gaiden Chapters except 19xx, 23x and 28x are required to be visited. 23x and 28x may be visited at the player's discretion, and don't count towards the total turncount up to 20 turns taken per chapter.

4. Other units may do as they please without penalty.

5. Defend chapters count the last played Player Phase for turns if the timer is waited out.

6. Undrafted units will be banned.

7. If you draft one of Pent or Louise but not the other, they may not give each other support bonuses.

8. You may not use statboosters, aside from Boots and Body Rings.

Penalties:

1. Undrafted units have a 4 turn penalty, per unit per chapter.

Exceptions:

1. Meatshielding is allowed for Chapter 13x.

2. Kent, Sain and Wil are free for Chapter 16.

Explanation:

The drafting process will go as it normally does. However, once we all finish drafting, we each pick one unit and only one unit from each of the other competitors' teams. You may pick the same unit as another person. Let me provide an example.

Drafter 1 picks Lucius (2), Rath (3), Fiora (4), and Guy (5) from the other drafters' teams.

Drafter 2 picks Legault (1), Florina (3), Fiora (4), and Dorcas (5) from the other drafters' teams.

And so on and so forth.

Each drafter will predict what stats the units that they have chosen will cap. For example, Drafter 1 predicts that Lucius will cap magic, speed, and resistance but nothing else; Rath will cap strength but nothing else; Fiora and Guy will both cap skill and speed; and Eliwood will cap nothing. The other drafters will also make their predictions on each of the units they have picked. They all play through the game normally.

At the end of the game, the drafters will post their final stats. For each correct prediction, the guesser will subtract 2 points from his final turn count. But for each incorrect prediction, the guesser will add 2 points to his final turn count.

Once drafting is finished, participants will PM me their predictions, which I will keep confidential until all participants finish the draft.

I understand my explanation may not be the easiest thing to understand, so if further explanation is needed I'll elaborate.

Teams:

1. Sharpy: Florina, Lucius, Erk, Dorcas, Hawkeye, Nino

2. Xin Li: Heath, Rath, Canas, Guy, Louise, Legault

3. Callum of Iris: Fiora, Oswin, Pent, Isadora, Rebecca, Karel

4. Jedisupersonic: Farina, Lowen, Priscilla, Bartre/Karla, Raven, Jaffar

5. BigBangMeteor: Sain, Kent, Serra, Dart, Vaida, Harken

[spoiler=units remaining]Wil

Geitz/Wallace

"In regards to the guesser's own character, an incorrect prediction will only lead to +1 turns but a correct prediction will give -3 turns."

this seems abusable considering RNG manipulation

I agree, Paperblade, but I'm just going to have to trust people on this one. That, or get rid of the guessing on your own character part.

personally I would've just made it a smaller benefit than what you get for guessing other people instead of larger

or remove it, I guess

It works both ways though. If drafter 1 gets Guy and all of the other players predict he will cap SPD, drafter 1 could purposely make it so Guy doesnt cap SPD.

Also this type of thing requires everyone to finish. Jedi has like 20 drafts in his backlog. Hes worse than Sharpy/Harpoon/Joker.

Its a bad idea all around.

I may be abit overbooked on drafts, but I want to give this one a shot.

Also...

Lyn, Kent, Sain and Wil are free for Chapter 16.

Why is she free for chapter 16 if she's free for the entire game?

Riiight, how about round more 9, 10ish? and the fact I'm actually working on the majority of them and just haven't logged in a little bit when I have more to put? whatever. Plus I just finished one right this moment among like 3 others I did earlier this week

Whoops, forgot to remove that. I'll edit that out.

Look, I already know it's a pretty sketchy draft idea but I've already made the thread so what are you going to do?

Also, in regards to character caps and whatnot, before I left I figured out a way to hopefully remove RNG manipulation possibilities. I think I'll ban guessing on your own character. Also, someone who's not participating in the draft will receive all the participants' guesses and keep them private, until people start finishing. In that case, I'll give up my spot and just run the thing. Either way, I think I've got this somewhat figured out.

OK, so I had this wacky new idea.

What if instead of just picking on which stats to cap, we make it a little more interesting? Add some RISK to the whole thing. So I came up with this formula, have a look;

If you guess correctly, your reward is Cap - Average. So if you guessed that Dorcas would max Speed, you get a meaty 13 turns taken off of your final turncount! No reward for guessing Sain is going to max STR though (unless he wouldn't normally), you wimp, go for something a little less obvious!.

The penalty would be Cap - Average. If you incorrectly guess that Lyn would cap DEF, well that's 8 turns added to your final turncount! On the safe side, if you incorrectly guess that Sain will cap his STR, you lose no turns (provided he would in fact, have capped STR on average)!

...Is this a great idea or what? Don't tell me if it's terrible, though.

I don't mind the idea, Refa, but you'll have to do all that TC adding stuff yourself then.

I am a boring person!

Oh yeah, forgot to say; send all of your draft predictions to me, people! ANONYMITY.

Oh, and you only get points if you guess a stat to be capped.

Example If I guess Karla is going to cap skill and I am right/wrong, I get points/take a penalty. If I don't guess for the other ones (or say that she won't), then no points will be awarded/taken for those.

Please feel free to ask, my internal logic sometimes doesn't work for others!
