What five games have you put the most time into?

I'm gonna be a rebel, sort of. . .

1. Beatmania IIDX - I have no idea how much money I spent on this game over the years, but it took me a long time to get where I am, and will take me a long time to get to where I want to be. On one home version alone, I played one song 100 times to pass it once.

2. Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald - I started a game of Sapphire, got my cartridge jacked, got another one, got Pokerus, and the rest is history. That lone save file has over 500 hours on it. I played through Emerald, too~!

3. Fire Emblem (all of them) - I didn't differentiate which of the 19 IIDX mixes I played the most, so I'm not gonna be picky here. I draft, and have played through the various games numerous times.

4. Yu-Gi-Oh! - Lots of dueling, and mostly for lulz.

5. Yggdra Union - Played through the game until I figured out the card system, then played through it some more to break it in creative ways.

I started a new playthrough every year, though I still need to go back and see some of the stuff that I've missed (notably Lucia's "hidden" spells).

Huh, I didn't know Lucia had "hidden" spells...looking at the wiki, I'm pretty sure I've seen atomic burn #2 before. Neat.

>Valkyrie Profile

oh shi that reminds me I have VP2 still waiting for me to play it...

I can only check TWEWY's time, everything else... I don't know. In no particular order:

1. The World Ends With You - 148 hours

I LOVE this game! I've pretty much got everything, I think. I could play more and try to up my rank or get a good time for that boss thing, but nah. I was actually going to try and get 9x every item/clothing but that's a bit over the top, huh?

2. Pokemon Sapphire - 120+

To be honest, I got bored of Pokemon. I guess it's just not my kind of game. But I spent a lot of time on it, somehow.

Oh, I haven't checked how much time I spent on Red or Silver...

Now here is long RPGs. I haven't exactly replayed many games, these are here because it took that many hours to finish. :P:

3. Persona 3 - If I include FES and Portable here together, then probably 180+?

I only managed to do 1 playthrough for each game though. In the future, I'll probably play P3P again and max all s-links.

4. Rogue Galaxy - 100+?

It was a good game! Fun.

5. Star Ocean: Til the End of Time - ?

I just remember this was a long game as well. It was very good :)

Oh wait, Skies of Arcadia was pretty long too. Hmm.... Well, I loved that game as well!

I don't have the patience or attention span to replaaaaaaaaay (unless they are short games)

And I do NOT want to know how much time I spent on MapleStory. Hopefully, not much.

1. Sengoku Rance

I have no clue, probably 300+ hours. The tactical aspects of this game is really underrated.

2. Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn

200+ hours.

My favorite FE game.

3. Wii Sport Resort

70~ hours.

Don't ask me why.

4. Mario Kart 64

?? Hours.

Just a guess on the position here, I don't actually know how many hours I played it. It used to be the favourite after school past time for me and my friends in my high school years.

5. Final Fantasy IX

~60 hours

I did three playthroughs over the years.

I lot of the games I really like are not the replayability type though.

Seeing as how this topic was created by the Magnificent Wist von Manlius Valorous, I feel obliged to post a post of posts.

A foreword in my post of posts, however: there are probably a bunch of fighting games and the likes that I have spent much time on, that I have not actually recorded. Those will be, unfortunately, not included. Here I have only included games that I have actually clocked...vaguely, at least.

1 - Monster Hunter Tri

I have nearly 300 hours clocked on this, though many insane fellows will tell you that they have over a thousand hours clocked, or something to that effect. Still, considering my habit of blazing through games like a Blue Falcon, this is the most impressive amount of hours I have achieved. If something like this could be called impressive, but I digress. At any rate, this game is very well made and was so full of great content that I could not simply stop playing at any given moment and had to go through it, see all there is to see and do all there is to do. I have been 90% successful with this...yes, there is still some left.

2 - Digimon World Dawn

Unlike many of the peoples in the world, I have never been able to get into Pokemon games. This could be because they weren't a part of my childhood and I find it difficult to become interested at this point (I even tried to play Blue, and it wasn't bad, but I couldn't really keep interest). Digimon, however, manages to keep my interest, despite [this particular game] not being much different, perhaps even inferior when some mechanics are taken into account. By far, this game is not a favourite of mine, but I did enjoy my time with it, and I have approximately 190 hours clocked on it.

I did always prefer Digimon anyway.

From this point onwards, it becomes hazy. There are many games I spent many hours on (if you count separate playthroughs, which I presume are accounted for...ha ha), so I'll try and see if I can recall which one I've spent more time on.

3 - Either Breath of Fire III or Chrono Trigger

With the previous comment in mind, all separate playthroughs of both of these games exceed 100 hours. I cannot exactly tell, in my mind of minds, which one I spent more time playing, but that doesn't matter. They are both excellent RPGs (and somewhat similar in a few aspects), complete in every aspect (mechanics, story, music, visuals, etc.) and I can still play them over and over again, given that I have enough time between playthroughs to gather significant interest once more.

4 - Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey

I think many hours of playing comes with the territory of SMT, so it was inevitable that the only SMT game I truly invested in would show up on this list. Strange Journey was an amazing game in most aspects, and the bestiary of demons, plus the superb soundtrack and atmosphere, had me hooked on this game. This one also exceeds 100 hours, but not by much.

5 - Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn

I ran out of games I've played a lot, but I think Radiant Dawn, with a few playthroughs of 30-40 hours each, can rightfully have the fifth place. Needless to say, I love this game and Ike-Mike aka Big_Boss is just WRONG and should be ashamed of himself forever.

Honourable mentions:

Symphony of the Night

God Hand

Demon's Souls

And a bunch of other games I can't remember

I hope this post has been satisfactory.

Bah

1. World of Warcraft, I haven't played this in a year and it will still be on the top of my list for the rest of my life

2. Disgaea series, if you're familiar with these games then this is probably self-explanatory

3. Zelda series; Wind Waker, Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time are all kind of tied

4. Suikoden series, I've kind of made it my goal to get 108 stars in every game, and I'm getting there. I've done it in 1-3 and 5, just gotta play 4 and Tierkreis.

5. Devil May Cry series I guess, I'm pretty terrible at them but I have played them a hell of a lot

Games I wish were on this list: Dark/Demon Souls, Valkyrie Profile, Street Fighter--I don't really have patience for hard games but I do love them and wish I could stand to play them :T

These lists are cool though some of you guys are badasses

These oversights must be rectified immediately!

3. Wii Sport Resort

70~ hours.

Don't ask me why.

This is really, really tough....

It is my firm belief that Ike-Mike aka Big_Boss dislikes Radiant Dawn simply because it's not as NOCH NIE DAGEWESENEN ACTION IN EXTREM AUSSERGEWÖHNLICHEN UMGEBUNGEN or ACTION-PORNO DER SUPERLATIVE as other games.

Recently, it´s been Fire Emblem: PoR (cleared it twice, went through about halfway again until memory card died, going through again), Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean <damm that name is long> (beat it once, in about 60 hours, going through again), Monster Hunter Tri (DAMN, how much time have i put into it? Last i checked, my main file has aprox.150 hours, with another profile <which for some reason, i named Veigue> with about 3 hours), and... uh... can´t think of anything else... maybe Chrono Trigger, and the TOUHOU PROJECT games. So yeah

Mm. Let's see...

Fire Emblem 4: Its replayability is very high because of the pairing choices, so I always found it fun to mess with Gen 2. Also, it was the most difficult FE I had played at that time, and I still find the story to be the best of the series.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2: My first game ever, it made my childhood. I remember I used to play it every afternoon or so.

Earthbound: One of the best games of all time imo. It has low replayability, but I took my time exploring every nook and cranny because I wanted to complete it in every way.

Soul Calibur III: One of the best fighting series I've played, but I never got to face Night Terror (mainly because my PS2 broke and now I suck too hard at it). Bonus points because of its Fire Emblem-esque Chronicles of the Sword mode. It's replayability is high, so I took my time playing with almost every char and getting all the extra weapons.

Megaman X4: My first game of the MMX series, so I kind of expected that. It has a lot of replayability, imo: Beating the game normally as X; beating the game without Life Ups/Boss Weapons as X; beating the game without anything but X's Fourth Armor; beating the game as Zero without using his Special Techniques or any Life Ups etc.

Well, I don't know the exact order but here goes nothing.

Skyrim: My main character has over 150 hours logged in. I have 7 characters in total. i have put a lot of hours into this game.

Radiant Dawn: I've played through the game like...10 or so times I guess. And I'm anything but a fast/low turn FE player so yeah, definitely racked up the hours on that game.

Pokemon(not a certain one in particular)- Again, Have played through at least one game of each set multiple times and I put way above average hours into every pokemon playthough lol.

Okami- Lets see, i have played through this game I think around 6 times with anywhere from 40-60 hours per playthrough, so that is definitely a lot.

Guild Wars: What can I say? Its an MMO, its gonna take a little time. Spent tons on tons on tons of time in this game. Can't wait to eventually get the second one.

  • 8 months later...

10. Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones

9. Zelda: Wind Waker

8. Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

7. Pokemon: Fire Red

6. Halo: Reach

5. Zelda: Twilight Princess

4. Pokemon Emerald

3. Super Smash Bros. Brawl

2. Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn

1. Pokemon Heart Gold

However, if you count total time leaving the game on doing nothing, and letting it sit overnight, #1 becomes Endless Ocean: Blue World, at over 300 hours, only rivaled by SSBB's 200 (Don't ask)

These are approximations off the top of my head.

I think MGS2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, SSBM, Custom Robo, Super Mario Sunshine, the rest of the Fire Emblem series, Pokemon Red Rescue Team, and a bunch more are up there too, perhaps should actually be on the list.

Oh, and Kirby SuperStar Ultra

God, my memory of this is terrible. I'll try to list 5 but I may edit this later if something comes up. My memory just kinda does what it wants.

"Hey, you remember that time when you were little and tried to jump rope a gym bag, fell, and your bottom teeth went into your lip?"

Okay, where did that come from?

Moving on...

Super Mario Bros. 3: Played this game everyday when I was a kid. It's Mario 3, what else do I say?

Pokemon Gold: Played it tons back in the day. I remember falling asleep on the couch fighting a Graveler (or however you spell it) late at night. Good times. Until my idiot step cousin erased my file with all the legendaries, most notably two Mewtwos. What a dick.

Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door: Played this game so much. I've made Bonetail (the optional ultimate boss) my bitch. I'm a pro at the super action command (press B and the enemy takes damage instead of you). Also I have a level 70 ish Mario in one file. Obsess much?

The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess: Played this a lot back in the early days of the Wii. I just love it.

Super Mario 64: What can I say, I love Mario. This one was my first 3D game and I was mesmerized by it. Hadn't seen anything like it before. Also my fear of deep water may stem from the eel in Jolly Rogers Bay. I WAS A KID NINTENDO! WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?

Actually I had to include this last one. Going above and beyond.

Super Smash Bros. Melee: Best in the series hands down. I've never been that into fighting games. I could never be asked to learn all those moves. Smash bros. combines simplicity of control with the depth of a fighter and adds its unique twists. Love it.

Honorable mentions

Mario Party 2 (best of the series)

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga

Dark Souls

Monster Hunter 3

Paper Mario

Marios 1, 2, world
