Raven
http://www.dailymail...itch-Skype.html MSN was my first messenger service, and that was all I'd used for about 3 years until I started using Skype more often, then I'd be using both side-by-side. It was fun while it lasted.
Zanarkin
No :(. Actually i rarely use it, its just a convenient way to know when to check my email. I do keep a few people on it that i talk to once in a while, but i suppose skype will do. And a quick glance at the article says that i can just import my contacts to skype apparently so its all good. MSN has served me greatly, it will always be remembered as that thing i got to talk to friends but was rarely used for that. Darros
NO! NO! NOOOOOOOOOOO!!! They had BETTER change their mind, this is just fucking wrong! :sob: How exactly is it wrong? MSN isn't very popular nowadays anyway. It's probably just a sinkhole for resources (money) in Microsoft's eyes. MSN is lame compared to skype anyway. CrashGordon94
lol Crash just get skype I already have it bitch, that's not a valid point! How exactly is it wrong? MSN isn't very popular nowadays anyway. It's probably just a sinkhole for resources (money) in Microsoft's eyes. MSN is lame compared to skype anyway. MSN is awesome and people still use it! And Skype is way worse, it eats memory like candy, is laggy as all hell and has a far inferior interface. If you don't want to do stupid video and voice shit, MSN is way better in every way. Darros
MSN is awesome and people still use it! Subjective, not nearly as many as skype. And Skype is way worse, it eats memory like candy false , is laggy as all hell Maybe if your computer sucks? and has a far inferior interface. subjective If you don't want to do stupid video and voice shit, MSN is way better in every way. "stupid video and voice shit", eh? Well to each their own, but some people actually like to use those things, you know? Also subjective again. Neither is better per se, but it makes no sense to keep putting resources into something with less features and less users.

CrashGordon94
wow way to call seph a bitch over nothing Nothing, being continuously insulting and cruel to someone for no reason except your own sick please is nothing? Subjective, not nearly as many as skype. Still plenty of people! false Fucking true Maybe if your computer sucks? It's super laggy on mine, which does NOT suck AND can handle MSN perfectly. Gee, I wonder what that means... "stupid video and voice shit", eh? Well to each their own, but some people actually like to use those things, you know? Like pervs? Also subjective again. Neither is better per se, but it makes no sense to keep putting resources into something with less features and less users. Yes, it's redundant. So they shouldn't have wasted their money buying Skype!

Darros
Still plenty of people! It's a money loss to have two services open that do almost the same thing and one caters to far less people than the other. Fucking true Skype takes less memory on my computer than Firefox, and only slightly more than Steam. It's super laggy on mine, which does NOT suck AND can handle MSN perfectly. Gee, I wonder what that means... Maybe your skype is outdated or something. But it doesn't lag on my computer, which definitely isn't a top of the line one. Like pervs? Skype isn't chatroulette. Yes, it's redundant. So they shouldn't have wasted their money buying Skype! Skype would offer more profit in the long run. Businesses are about profit, that's common knowledge. Zanarkin
Nothing, being continuously insulting and cruel to someone for no reason except your own sick please is nothing? Err, in his post, in this topic, he is nowhere close to being mean, insulting, or cruel to you. Plus messenger and skype are very similar anyway, except you are more likely to find people active on skype than on msn. CrashGordon94
Are they getting rid of Hotmail as well? Who knows! They probably will, along with Outlook, Office, Xbox Live and Bill Gates. It's a money loss to have two services open that do almost the same thing and one caters to far less people than the other. SO THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE BOUGHT A REDUNDANT SERVICE DUH Skype isn't chatroulette. Oh really now? I find that hard to believe.
Xinnidy
So much for MSN. :c Tbh it was pretty annoying nowadays because I don't even remember half the people I have there, it's actually kind of a sore to me now. I won't deny it had it uses, but it was not for me. Farewell, MSN. Can Facebook be the next to die plz And are people seriously arguing about Skype vs MSN here lol. Skype and MSN both have its charm for people, this is silly.

I thought you said you had skype. On skype you don't just hook up with random strangers and porn it up. You actually have to send/accept contact requests. Tangerine
MSN still had over 100 million users. Microsoft is doing this because MSN and Skype eat eachother's userbases - note that they are trying to merge the old msn users with skype. They picked Skype because it's more popular now. Either way, MSN is a better IM service than Skype for me and plenty of other users. Hence why I would rather switch to Yahoo with an MSN skin than use Skype as my main messenger - which I already have, and still do not want as my main messenger. But you know what, I give up! I'm going to be forced to drop a perfectly good program for stupid reasons and people won't even hear me out, fuck this! The question is how many of them are active. I have MSN, and I only ever have like 4 contacts on ever out the 200 or so I have. Just a local example, but MSN is basically dead in my society. Bringing it up is like bringing up MySpace. It's ancient. And I do get that some people prefer MSN, but I think that's no reason to slander Skype. Video chat and calls aren't "stupid video and voice shit" as Crash is painting them to be, I like these services very much, and I prefer Skype as a chat thing to (I like its group interface more). I know that my Skype preference is a subjective thing, and neither Skype or MSN are objectively bad, but MSN is getting smaller and smaller while Skype just keeps on growing. MSN being cut was inevitable anyway.

It had 300 million active users in 2007, it just dropped over the years as more IM programs started to steal market share and new ones came out. And I have 10+ contacts on at any time, even late at night. I only have about 30 friends that I actually let have my MSN. Anacybele
This stinks, I love MSN. :( And Skype is better? LOL. I used Skype for a couple years after not being able to log into MSN for awhile and I highly prefer MSN. Skype was too laggy and glitchy for me. Sorry about that then. I still kind of think my point stands though with the "MSN is ancient" thing.
