Meta Knight's sword and Amatsu

So I was playing SSBB with a friend, and he pointed out that Meta Knight's sword looks a lot like Amatsu, Yen'fay's sword in fire emblem awakening. Is this some kind of reference or just a coincidence?

They have the same color and the design with the prongs coming out of the side. Sure, the gem in Galaxia and the uneven look on Amatsu are different, but they sure look a lot alike.

It's probably just a coincidence. The design is based on the Seven-Branched Sword. Since Chon'sin has a culture reminiscent to Japan, it fits for Yen'fay to have a sword shaped that way. Not sure why Meta Knight wields a similar sword, but either way, they just share a sword design, nothing more, nothing less, that we know anyway.

I ain't no engineer, but I have a hard time believing the branches on Amatsu help improve its aerodynamics.

It uses them to scare the laws of physics into standing back.

I'd chalk it up to mere conicidence. That reminds me, the Dark Cloud games have a similar weapon called the 7 Branch Sword.

Many games have used the Seven Branched Sword's design. FE and Kirby aren't the only ones.

Castlevania, Phoenix Wright, Samurai Warriors, Soul Calibur, Demon Sword, Dark Cloud. Along with some others I cannot think of have used this

wiki says that the seven-branch sword was intended for ceremonial purposes, so it's just meant to look cool, apparently.

if you're using that sword to fight, you're dumb as a sack of rocks. probably why Ylisse defeated an alleged conqueror nation. Yen'fay was not very smart to use Amatsu.

but maybe he wanted to lose! Shyamalan plot twist right there!
