Yeah, besides maybe Hector, Ike is the only lord in the series that could be a heavyweight, isn't bishie, has unique skills (the first Aether guy ftw), even a unique sword. No other lord has a blade that's gold and shoots badass shockwaves. Though sadly, Smash has yet to give him those shockwaves. >.>

Sigurd could probably be heavyweight, he seems a pretty big guy. (He could even be on a horse!)

Of course they could have done something with Chrom. They might have even pulled out something surprisingly creative. But the fact is Robin is already a lot more interesting in terms of moveset and is ripe with potential for a creative moveset. Which why I'm so glad they made that choice.

I'd personally say Chrom is a pretty unique lord, as he's probably the only lord in the series (barring Sigurd maybe) who actually knows how to act and be a leader from the start of the game, every other lord learns gradually the responsibilities of leadership. (Is there no part of the forum where Awakening criticism doesn't eventually become a topic of discussion? I must refrain from speaking further)

His personality is less flat than the other lords too imo. He gives me a Hector vibe but like different.

Micaiah is slow in RD, surely she would be a heavyweight in Smash!

I know this post wasn't meant to be taken seriously but now I'm thinking about how she would play if Sakurai cared about her FE stats. Maybe she'd have slow startups.

I found Chrom to be more flat than the other lords, personally. He just doesn't seem to grow/develop much like Ike or, from what I've heard, Leif. And he makes some stupid decisions, imo. He's even hypocritical at times, saying in one conversation that one person's life means nothing compared to thousands, and then basically saying he'd rather save Emmeryn or Robin than save thousands of others.

But since I dislike him, I'm glad he never became playable in Smash. Believe it or not, I DID used to want him, but that was before he started getting less and less cool to me and the idea of Robin getting in instead became more and more awesome.

Chrom's a bro. He just suffered from the illness known as "bad writing".

Do we have confirmation or deconfirmation of a Japanese audio option being in the English game? I'm not thrilled by all the English taunts, especially Male Robin's, they just feel a little dull in my opinion.

That's because the writers were too busy making sure everyone worshipped Robin instead of developing the main character. But I guess that's the difference with Awakening. The self-insert is the main lord. It's a stark difference from say Mark who was treated more like a companion and occasionally thanked for helping, because Robin pretty much did everything and may as well have worn a halo. Wonder if that's gonna stick in FE14.

That's actually what kind of endeared me to him, he had a passion that I've never really seen in an FE lord yet. I didn't like him as much as Shadow Dragon Marth or Hector, but I like him a bit. Just my opinion.

On topic, what stages do you guys want in the Wii U version?

Alertrcircuit: Have you played PoR? Ike is so damn passionate that he yells at Sanaki, the EMPRESS of Begnion, for joking around with Elincia, risking the ENTIRE WAR in doing so. xP

Anyway, I want a Luigi's Mansion stage to stick around. I also wanted a Tellius stage for the Wii U version, but with Colosseum being there and Castle Siege returning from Brawl, that's probably unlikely now unless DLC is a thing. :(

Yeah I'm aware, it just didn't hit the right notes for me that some of Chrom's dialogue did.

The Luigi's mansion stage was cool, I hope Big Blue stays, that's a great stage for parties.

Oh, well, okay then. xP

I'd rather the Luigi's Mansion stage became Treacherous Mansion from Dark Moon and swapped between its various themed rooms a la Castle Siege. Dark Moon is a handheld game though, so...

I remember that bit, but Ike wasn't yelling at Sanaki for joking around. Sanaki was claiming that since no noble could vouch for Elincia, so there was no way that she could be proven to be the hidden Crimean princess. Ike said plainly that he would not sell his sword to a liar and that he believed that Elincia was telling the truth.

The boy really just isn't all that passionate ~o3o~

Uh, but he DID yell at her. In fact, now that I recall it, he yelled at EVERYONE in that room save for Elincia. He was like "you're all terrible people!" and stuff.

But to stay on topic, MAN I can't wait until I get out of work on Friday to pick up Smash 3DS! And I can't wait until Saturday to check out the GameStop tournament happening here. :D I may or may not enter, but I want to make some friends and play with some people there! I never have anyone to play with irl since my brother stopped playing games with me, so...

That's not being hypocritical, that's simply differentiating common people to your loved ones. If someone were to confront such situation it'd be natural to prefer 1000 lives dead instead of someone that's very dear to you to die, because that person is more valuable than thousands or even the whole world, and you would reject the idea of losing him/her.

It's not bad writing, it's the complexity of human nature.

No, Awakening genuinely has bad writing. Fantastic themes and concepts but still bad writing. Not their fault though. They were clearly putting the money into designing that sweet ass battle system and scenery porn.

Bad writing is opinionated, I could honestly say every fe has bad writing but that would be my opinion not an honest fact, SF members regards themselves as gods of writing knowledge and masters of the English language when the majority of the site probably hasn't done anything beyond an essay.

But Awakening isn't our topic this is smash brothers. Let's just go back to smash discussion and stop these non valid topics

This basically sums up why I DON'T like Robin. I like a lot of things about Awakening, but the main plot is basically indistinguishable from a Mary Sue story written by a thirteen-year-old on Fanfiction.net.

Edit: Well, this is what happens when I leave this sit for over an hour while I mess with the Universal Mary Sue Litmus Test to try to get a score for Robin, decide it's pointless (since the fact that I got a score of more than 200 for Robin where anything more than 50 is considered extremely, irredeemably Mary-Sueish won't change anyone's minds about him/her as a character), and just submit what I wrote without checking for new posts.

So, moving on, that Star Fox stage looks pretty cool.

I wasn't exactly referring to Awakening having a bad writing or not, I was pointing Ace Gamer's justification of Chrom being hypocritical (Ana's case) is not due to bad writing but due to human nature.

Sorry for going in depth with this Jed, but wanted to make this clear.

On another note, today's stage looks really fantastic. I can't wait for the Wii U version's release date be announced.

But Jedi, we all don't have to be master scholars to notice a fault. If something bad, its bad.

But on topic, how many hours do you guys think you'll have in this game?
