Which is why I'm using a level 1 Jeorge in the gauntlet so that I can get the flags from the mission (and funnily enough, I always get carried by a level 40). I'm in team Lucina and I barely got any feathers from round one since I didn't rank high at all. That might change in the last round since I have 900 flags to burn though.
