Sometimes, it makes me wonder why I should give a fuck about them when they do not even take the time to stand up for themselves. Even if it feels demoralizing, vote anyway. You're doing better than those that don't. Hawaii is going to go blue, full stop. At this point, it's a matter of whether or not anyone in the Republican party has a chance here. Like, at the very least, everyone should vote on the state propositions on the ballot where it is mostly about increasing or decreasing taxes to fund or unfund stuff. A half filled ballot is still better than no ballot.
Dr. Tarrasque
Trump is now looking to terminate Birthright citizenship, overriding Section 1 of the 14th amendment. It probably won't see any success but it's still rather irksome to see how little this turd understands what it means to be the President and how little regard he has for the constitution specially when pushing for Kavanaugh "because he's a constitutionalist". Tryhard
Well, you could go ahead and say that Latin America in general "likes" dictators. Left and Right don't hold much sway there - Bolsonaro praised Hugo Chavez, the socialist military guy. Generally, modern dictators don't seize power through coups - they are "elected" - even if by 'elected' it is a complete sham. Say what you want about Maduro, he is the same. Remember now--Obama was the one who either didn't understand or didn't respect the Constitution, and was abusing executive orders to push "radical change." (it doesn't take too much imagination here to envision what the reaction would have been if Obama woke up one day and decided he was going to use an executive order to terminate the right to bear arms, overriding the second amendment) ..but its perfectly OK when they do it... Hell. Its patriotic when they do it. Because...reasons... Edited October 30, 2018 by Shoblongoo

Trump could pull this off and I'm sure it's no coincidence that he is doing this so close to the migrant caravan's arrival. Any wrong moves made by the caravan could potentially be used to support Trump's executive order including the incident that occurred when they were entering Mexico. There are also 5,200 additional troops being sent to the border so hopefully the members of the caravan won't get restless while they are slowly filtered into the country. "Well its THEIR fault for breaking our laws. This about whether we're a nation of laws or a nation of open borders; if you don't support what our president is doing, you support lawlessness and criminality." UNLEASH IT
After what happened with Lula and Dilma, it couldn't have been any easier for Bolsonaro. I don't know why people are so surprised at how much support he had, Brazilians would've probably voted for the literal devil instead of the PT after those corruption charges (even though Bolsonaro could end up being quite corrupt himself). Nobody
it's not about corruption alone. Dilma's policies led the country to the worst recession in its history, but all PT can do is play the victim card, sabotage the rest of the left (such as Ciro Gomes or Marina Silva), and never admit their mistakes. Just as they lost the election, they went back to making speechs about how Lula has to be freed. Of course an actual fascist is much worse than them, I voted for Haddad on the second round without thinking twice. There were plenty of much better options than either the Fascist or PT on the first round, though. Edited October 31, 2018 by Nobody

We all have our opinions about Kanye but I don't think that excuses the worst of the behavior in response to his recent antics from the left and the right trying to use him to promote propaganda like Candace is doing. BrightBow
Then I guess a massacre is unavoidable. Like, even if those militia guys weren't an issue, Trump is basically saying that any provocation is grounds for lethal force, and how could you prove that someone didn't throw a rock or whatever? The red hats among the soldiers will most certainly interpret this as their actions not going to have any consequences. And once the first bullet is fired, things will spiral out of control. Shoblongoo
Last best hope would be that rank-and-file soldiers recognize any such orders handed down as illegal orders to massacre civilians, and refuse to commit the atrocity. The really fucked up part is if they actually do it--if they go full Einsatzgruppen Nazi deathsquad on a caravan of refugees and asylumseekers--Trump with all his bluster and machismo and cult-of-personality will almost certainly have ~40% of the country supporting the action + whipped up into a patriotic fenzy of thinking its "unamerican" to oppose it. ...This is what we're SUPPOSED to do to keep the country clean... ...This is American greatness on full display... ...You hate America and you want American workers to lose their job and you want American families to get raped and murdered if you're against this... ~40%. They'll be completely, unapologetically on board with that. _________ That to me is a stronger sign of national decline than any trade statistic or deficit figure. A nation cannot be great if its people are cruel and stupid. Edited November 2, 2018 by Shoblongoo
