QOTD IV!! 884: Who should be next QOTD master and why, or should it die?

rpgs like fire emblem and pokemon don't really count imo because the formula is almost exactly the same game-to-game.

yeah but UX can age really, really poorly.

I don't think games age, but rather, we age and start criticizing games that were bad to begin with.

while you sort of have a point, i think it's unfair to criticize games for not having innovations that didn't show up in their genre until after they were released. in hindsight, now that you've played a new game with those quality of life changes, it's hard to play the old without them, but at the time it didn't really drag down your experience because you didn't know what you weren't having.

like me with all of the fire emblems that don't have the danger zone button - it never once bothered me playing the GBA fire emblems for the first(/hundreth) time not being able to check every enemy's range at once, but since i played shadow dragon, going back to those games and not being able to do that drags the experience down for me and since i got used to awankening, not having it makes those games way less fun for me to play now.

anyway personally: warcraft 2. i played the hell out of it when it was new, and it still has a special place in my heart (evidenced by many conversations with parrhesia), but holy shit the experience just has not aged one bit. and that's not a good thing.

I agree with you and it's kind of weird considering how little I agree with cropped porn.

what

edit:

monkey emoji op

Personally I'd play the original games over the remakes. Specially if the battery wasn't such an issue.

seems like a waste to me, but your opinion man

master of magic (1994) is literally as resolution upgrade from being a relevant modern 4x game. it doesn't even need, like, a UI overhaul or anything.

QUESTION SIX HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-FOUR: Tell us of a game you like, but which really has not aged well at all.

paired questions are the best because i chug one out on a late morning and then the next day, an early morning, i just do the partner

Gee you know...hmmm...Secret of Mana is the first that really comes to mind. Its kinda clunky and glitchy af now, but i still love it.
