Junkhead
About Smash Corrin, The original frills are still there: What does it mean? ~('' )~ (Well, the frills are on the render posted earlier too) I noticed she was covered there, but I was kind of wondering how they would deal with that one part. Pretty glad they did, considering Smash's ability to move the camera around and look under...there. She looks a lot more modest by that simple detail. That's... expected. If this was a different time, I would have assumed that after they not only went through all that trouble and consequential financial investment to animate Camilla's body partsI think they should've thought about that before taking FE in that direction. Right, this isn't even like 1/64th of the game, but Camilla's not the only one with that kind of revealing attire. Again, I also love this one little detail: V-lines are so sexy, aren't they? But wait, if I like it, why would I complain about it? I mean, if you like it, wouldn't it make sense that you should further support it? Yeaaaaahno. See, here's one of the things about FE that I've always loved about it. It's...relatively innocent. At least in that one aspect. FE girls have always been gorgeous without having to dress like sluts. I'd expect this kind of stuff from games like DoA or Soul Calibur (I mean, they always had those, they didn't introduce it as some cheap strategy to bring more people over 10 games later). I don't have anything against porn (or whatever term one prefers to use for a piece of media which thinks that providing jerk-off material is more important then captivating stories, fascinating worlds and engaging characters, a description which obviously applies to Fates seeing how Camilla is the player avatar's sister and all), but considering how this series still claims the Fire Emblem name for itself, this state of affairs continues to be depressing.Things like these is what tends to take away a little of seriousness in things. I won't make that mistake, though. Like, I understand what you say. I made this exact same mistake with Awakening prior to it's release. Then I ended up falling for the game and the things it had to offer. I think I'm still a little bitter at how FE sold a part of their soul just to please the general audience. They made our beloved series into a Waifu Simulator, and now this. I'm exaggerating on the latter, I admit.
Book of Ereshkigal
Hey, in Charlotte's defense, the dudes wear the, relatively speaking, same clothing in the fighter class. :p Yes, you can see their ass just like on the girl fighter, lol. (...don't get me wrong, it looks stupid on both sexes.) Edited December 18, 2015 by L95
Junkhead
Like, the FE14 Fighter class a whole wear that?
Zerosabers
Like, the FE14 Fighter class a whole wear that? It's incredibly similar, I'll see if I can find an image. Edit: This might actually be the berserker outfit, though it's the same classline now. Edited December 18, 2015 by Zerosabers
Junkhead
Gawd, that looks freakimg hilariously horrible. Xd My guess is that the chicken came before the egg (aka, Charlotte) and they just needed an excuse to make this seem anywhere close to something that makes sense. SalShich10N
I don't think it's frustrating that it sells at all, there's room for all sorts of designs and appeals in all media. What's more frustrating (well maybe amusing) is the fact there are a lot of people who generally still don't (or rather, refuse to) acknowledge the difference in pretenses this game's characters are operating under compared to older titles even when developers themselves express such attitudes. Then again, they didn't accept it when Nintendo advertised a groping minigame where characters say things like "It is an honor to be touched by you" as a selling point so... Reminds me of the people off reddit who got mad about Delphi complaining Cordelia's boob size woes being stupid, and responded to his criticisms by insisting that they were a neccessary and important part of her character, in line with the traditional (their words not mine) "strife, character interaction and development of very human, fictional characters." that the series is known for. Wooooo reality warping. Well japan is very different. This year's most sold pornographic game in japan was mostly about head-patting a little girl and sex was optional. Head-patting seems to be an important part of the japanese culture nowadays. Anyways, I wouldn't worry if I were you about the MyRoom minigame. I seriously doubt Treehouse, as it is right now, will leave that untouched. I find it kinda cute comparing Camilla to a dairy cow, though. Moo. NekoKnight
Wait, what's that abot comparing Camilla to a cow. I doubt you'll find anything of the sort considering the jokes they were cracking on it. Even the devs regard Camilla as Madame Cowtits. SalShich10N
That's... expected. If this was a different time, I would have assumed that after they not only went through all that trouble and consequential financial investment to animate Camilla's body parts but also accepted a higher rating just for this one scene, that this cutscene which shows Camilla shaking her tits and ass in front of her own brother (with added fourth wall breaking camera angles) would somehow be vital for the story and it's themes, despite of how unlikely it might seem. And somehow, I still want to believe that, even though I know better by now. Well, time to try and track down a translation for those pages, in the hopes that they also talk about the significance of this scene towards their creative vision and hopefully not just whine about the rating board being such a bunch of meanies or whatever. I've been giving this some though, and I believe it was made to make her more of a Villain in that route, as that is her entrance as a boss. It's not uncommon for japanese anime and videogames that female villains are sexy, seductive and assertive (along with purple hair), mostly to contrast female heroines which are usually cutesy, sometimes timid or shy, and more conservative. This is mostly a 90's anime thing, though, but I think it still applies. In short, I think they wanted to give her a more menacing and imposing outlook, and her proportions certainly do reach that effect. It's kind of as if the bad guy would start off by hitting on the female heroine or love interest. That effect might be lost since Japanese culture is very open with sexuality, unlike others like the American culture which is more prude and would just take it as obscene. Now that you mention it, I'm reminded that my early impression of Camilla brought to mind that sexy female anime villain type you mention - not a trope I'm overly familiar with, not having seen a lot of 90s anime, but she had that sort of look to me. It wouldn't surprise me if the developers had something like that in mind when designing her, especially since I've always thought of Leon as the type who'd stumble across a magic notebook and decide it's his job to purge the world of evil... It's odd for me to think that Camilla's cutscene alone bumped up the game to a C rating, though, knowing the stereotype that America is the country that's supposed to be far more concerned about sexuality than violence. It seems that's not true when it comes to both country's game ratings boards, at least.

Well thing is that Nohr is the classic villain empire of the Fire Emblem, so with the exception of Elise all of the Nohr siblings remind of common villain archetypes without quite reaching them. Leon being the cold bishie, Camilla being the sultry seductress, Marx being the classic Camus archetype of every game, and so on. It's not uncommon that you'd find characters from Nohr being common villain archetypes, it's only a surprise none of the playable party memebers in Nohr are ugly (it's as standard for Fire Emblem that all villains are ugly and all recruitable enemies are handsome). Japanese CERO rating board is far stricter than the north american ESRB. In fact, Smash Bros version of smash is censored compared to the worldwide so that they could keep the CERO A (Palutena's stockings are longer, stuff like that). Hell if anything, the fact that Fem Kamui's model in smash still has frills on her thigh window might indicate that she won't be censored in the worldwide release, if that doesn't warrant a T rating. I'm not sure this is correct like that. The CERO's A rating would be for all ages and the B rating would be 12+. So one could say that they basically don't have the equivalent of the E10+ rating that Smash 4 got. And even then, Brawl used to be rated T anyway as did Melee. So if the Japanese version has more censorship, it's because NoJ aims for a lower age rating then NoA is, not because the rating system is more strict. Take a read at this http://www.sourcegaming.info/2015/09/18/cero-and-palutenas-censorship/ Then again, Tharja as a trophy had to be removed because that would've bumped up the rating to T as well. Heck, I was thinking to link this exchange myself in order to show that NoJ or Sakurai want to avoid a 12+ rating for Smash. Like I said, there is nothing between 0+ and 12+ in CERO's rating system, like the ESRB's E10+ rating that Smash 4 got this time around. Isn't Benoit meant to be the ugly one? Or... something similar. I've seen his appearance described as "fearsome", anyway; he's no generic bandit, but I can imagine him being a minor boss in another game. He doesn't look like the friendliest person. Loki Laufeyson
Benoit is supposed to be really scary and intimidating, yeah. Kinda like Brady or Gregor. Benoit is supposed to put people off first, but not be unattractive. Because hes such a cinnamon roll, they gotta make him at least appealing in some way. And it worked. Because hes gonna be a husbando of mine. :B
