Faellin
I've noticed he has a rather low speed growth which is horrible for this class line, while having really good defense and high HP which is again out of place for the samurai line. I have a feeling he'll do well as a blacksmith or oni chieftan. Leaning more towards blacksmith for sword access though. I have a feeling he was built around the mercenery line. But since hoshido doesn't have those units, he was just thrown into the next closest thing.
Knight
Edward in Radiant Dawn is pretty much the same.
Pretty Cool Guy
I'd personally just keep him as a swordmaster. The Oni classes kill his speed too much. In Birthright, his base speed as a samurai with some speed tonics can keep him doubling for a while. Promotion only boosts it further. What I was actually planning on doing was getting him the darting blow skill so I don't have to worry to much about it. And i've seen someone actually running a blacksmith tank Hinata with wary fighter.

I'd argue that swordmaster Hinata tanks things just fine, but Blacksmith isn't a bad choice. If you do, he really appreciates the practice katana, unless you put wary fighter on him. Anomalocaris
I made him a Master of Arms, which worked out well for him.
Dark Sage
He's pretty much meant to be the Ogma of the game, only a Myrmidon since he's a Hoshido unit. His growth rates and bases are pretty comparable to Ogma's and Dieck's and his character design takes a surprisingly decent amount from them. He's a bases guy who doesn't need much to function and contribute to the team, much like Ogma or Dieck. Being similar to them also makes me like his design a lot too. Jedi
I compared him to Trewd from FE5, because he had oddly high HP for his Myrmidon class (and Hinata is kinda tanky), but I guess I see the Ogma similarities now.
Dark Sage
It also explains why he has Oni Savage as his reclass option since it gives him access to Blacksmith, which is almost identical to Hero.
Based Goomy
I gave my Hinata the Blacksmith class, and tbh I think it just looks weird. Good bonuses, and a somewhat powerful unit, but he's just not aesthetically pleasing as a Blacksmith. Edit: Give him Swordmaster until he gets Darting Blow, then reclass to Master of Arms. Avalanche
Darting Blow really helps him. I married Hinata to Hinoka on my first playthrough and it's what made him viable for me late game (his Growths tanked and the +5 Effective Speed kept him doubling with Steel Weapons)
soranauta
I promoted him to Master of Arms, but he's been quite one of my most useful units since I recruited him. That bulk of his really helps sometimes.
Book Bro
He was one of my best tanks which shocked me. I went Swordmaster for Astra then Master of Arms.
IceBrand
He's the exact opposite of Hana, Bulky and slow. I'd use him or Hana since she usually gets one shotted by most enemies.

Avalanche
Umm, even on my Normal mode playthrough, Hana was made of glass and that was with an S Support w/Baki. She's meant to be a player phase focused unit (to use Duelists's Blow to get enough evasion to never get touched) and is great at it, but she's frail enough to basically need HP Tonics/a Seraph Robe to take more than one Physical Hit she doesn't dodge. Hard Mode is pretty much the same deal.

Avalanche
Trust me, it's not uncommon for Hana to end up one shot if she's in a strong enough enemy's range. Ironically, it usually ends up being Axe users that hit her on Low Rates that take her out for me. I cannot stress enough that she shouldn't fight what she can't immediately obliterate in player phase. Giving her the Birthright Chapter 7 Seraph Robe is a big help. FluffyWarlock
Well, all we would need is to get him reclassed to Mercenary, I guess. But something tells me that you guys wouldn't recommend Selena as mother for Hisame.
Anomalocaris
In terms of both stats and personality, Hinata's basically Samurai Vaike. Gotta get back, back to Ylisse, Sam-ur-ai Vaike! (Vaike-Vaike-Vaike!)

Azure Sen
I'm not trying to argue she isn't frail. I'm trying to bust the bullcrap about she gets one-shotted. But she does? I used her in both my Birthright and Revelation playthroughs on Normal, and while she can hit hard and usually double everything, if anything so much as looks at her wrong she's gone. (It doesn't help that her base growths are very similar to Azura's, another one-shot magnet.) On the topic at hand, Hinata's weird growths are an example of the weird growths Hoshido seems to have in general. Hinata's part of the Weirdly Defensive Trio (him, 'Baki and Rinkah), which stands opposed to the Weirdly Offensive Trio (Azama, Sakura, Hana). And then there's Hinata, Saizo and Tsubaki's low speed growth for their starting classes, Azura's general situation (she's not exclusive to Birthright but she was raised in Hoshido), etc.
Pretty Cool Guy
It seems like a lot of Hoshido's units have growths that are completely opposite of what the norm is for their class
