Gonzawez
Hey I'm just about to finally start Berwick Saga after months of waiting and wanted to say thank you so much for all the time you've put into this translation!
Dirtfall
Just discovered this project was happening, want to throw another thank you your way! I remember looking into this game many years ago and lamenting that English only speakers would likely never get to experience it. Thanks for putting in the time and effort (and probably tears) that will allow a whole new region of people to enjoy this game.

It's been a long time coming, but I'm finally up to the end of Chapter 8 with the release of Version 30 (download here)! Not only does this include the new maps, but it also has many fixes for typos and missed lines of dialogue in city events. Hope you enjoy! trpg fan
Thanks for your great work translating this! I never heard of it before recently but it's probably going to be one of my favorite tactics games. Eagerly looking forward to future patches. Saint Rubenio
I have been silently following this for a while. Suffice to say, I miiiiiight just be looking forward to this a bit more than Three Houses. Okay, more than "a bit" more. I love Tear Ring, but Berwick seems like it's on an entirely different level (in more ways than one), and I cannot wait to be able to play it. You're doing God's work here, my friend! Heck, I might just give it a shot as is when I finish my current FE12 run. I usually try to stay away from incomplete projects, but 24 translated maps seems like a very solid amount of text, and with translated menus it should be easy to continue from there, even if I'd miss out on the story (gotta say tho, 60 hours of gameplay sounds overwhelming... but so tempting). If I could just figure out how PCSX2 works... I wish you best of luck completing this project!
John Cena
Thank you Aethin. I've really enjoyed the Tear Ring Saga translation and I'm glad you exist. Keep up the great work! AMADOU~!
pnt
Bless you, Aethin! P.S. I've developed Stockholm syndrome with my captor Ruby and relentlessly trying to raise her shield level, and I hold you personally accountable ;)
Saint Rubenio
Well, I couldn't resist the temptation, in the end. I have now finished the translated portion of the game. It has been an absolute joy to play through half this masterpiece, and I am sure it'll be a joy to play through the rest of it, in due time. Even this being an early version, the quality of the translation is top-notch, just like the TRS one. My highest regards to you, Aethin. You're great at this. Now that I've flattered you a bit, could you hurry up and release the full translation soon? Pretty please...? The finished version cannot come soon enough. Goodness, it's going to be agonizing to wait these remaining months out. But I will not finish the game yet. I want to experience the stories of my characters fully, so that in my next run, I can safely focus on the characters I didn't bother with / lost (R.I.P. Leon, I didn't know Guard didn't guard from arrows. R.I.P. Axel, you gave your life to ensure our victory in chapter 4. R.I.P. Daoud... actually, he didn't die, some NPCs did though). I just hope the saves will be compatible... Now, if you're interested, Aethin, I'll leave here all the typos and other small grievances that I found throughout the game. No doubt you know of at least some of these, and none of them are game-breaking or anything, but still, I'd like to help, even if it's just a tiny bit. It'll be rather long (mostly since I'll be posting screenshots of the things), so I'll put it all in spoilers. Here it is: Spoiler - These text boxes (I don't know what to call them) have minor graphical glitches, like letters that are too wide, characters that blend together, etc. Battle text also has some minor issues here and there. This might be the emulator, but I switched plugins (and even versions of PCSX2!) and the glitches remained (albeit they did become far less common and noticeable when I switched to PCSX2 1.5). Nothing big, it's just ugly. Also, can I just say that Muerthen is very obviously just Ward with a helmet? Because he totally is Ward with a Helmet. - The text that comes up when Gomez is killed in Chapter 8's sidequest "Situation in the Armory" is not translated. Of course, that part of the game's supposedly fully translated already, so I'm thinking perhaps you forgot about this little snippet of dialogue. - The epitaphs of the fallen units' gravestones are not translated either. I suppose you weren't expecting anybody to continue after someone died in this game. Hah! You underestimate my stupidity. Though, I never did it again after Axel... - The game still tells you to "talk to Tianna" to perform hostage trading in chapter 7, when she's supposed to be temporarily replaced by Rosalie. Not sure if this can be changed or not, just thought I'd report it. - On a related note, this is probably a mistake of the game itself (heck, might not even be a mistake, but just a funny coincidence), but in chapter 7, I raised Sylvys's level to 10 and unlocked Hero of the Sea. In that chapter, Tianna was doing her usual job instead of Rosalie. Fair, I suppose, you could get that chapter at any point, I was just unfortunate to get it just when Tianna was off being plot-absent. When I was done with that, Tianna was back in the office instead of Rosalie. No questions were made about her sudden return. Does that normally happen, or did Hero of the Sea screw things up? - This is just a personal opinion, but the name of the option to extend contracts with mercenaries before advancing chapters is rather weird. "I'm not finished talking yet"? Sounds really strange, if you ask me. Again, just personal opinion. Take this with a grain of salt. It's nothing serious, anyway. - THE TYPO ZONE! These are all the typos I found in the game. Took a screenshot of all the ones I caught. Weird grammar from Czene there. Pretty sure this was Czene's 2nd event. Double commas. Barselphon's request. Piece of crap, I knew it, I knew there was something rotten about him from the start! Sorry, Theo... next time I play this game, I'll take care not to do this request. Double "now"s. Man, what's Barselphon's problem? On top of being an asshole, he can't speak. Pretty sure it should be just "Is something the matter?". This is from the food sidequest. Sadly, I didn't screenshot the screen leading to this one, but Alex said something along the lines of "Lady Tianna here works as a secretary for the army of Sinon", which does not naturally lead into "you are?!", I think. It's one of the civilian requests from chapter 7, the one where you're asked to get a costume from a house. Priest be Gonzales. Ophilia and Sherlock 1. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that first "out" shouldn't be there, should it? Hero of the Sea outro. Dallas isn't just a psycopath, he also doesn't like the word "to". What did it do to him, I wonder? All the escorts in the prison camps sidequest are labelled "Allied POW" in battle dialogue. Even the ones who aren't carrying Allied POWs. Lynette made a small mistake in the second paragraph. It's her letter from chapter 8. The safety "of" the people, actually. One of the requests from chapter 8. I'm not a native english speaker, so I admit this one's most certainly just me, but that second sentence does not sound natural to me. I'll leave it here, just in case, but yeah, probably my own limited understanding of this language. Folmer stuttering a bit in the intro sequence of "the veterans". ...confer with Lord Reese's what? Don't think that " 's " should be there. Same scene as before. The fact that Pisaro's underlings were called Ali Baba and fucking Pedro of all things was irrationally funny to me. No mistakes here, I loved that. Probably because I had a teacher called Pedro once. Ignore this, it's just me being dumb. And lastly... Failed Poet has to be the best class name in the history of the world. I miss TRS's gender box, I thought this was a really ugly chick for the longest time... Nothing else! Thank you again for your hard work. This is looking to take my top 3 of FE games by storm (both top 3s, in fact, it's not just the brilliant gameplay, the story's damn great too), and I, for one, am okay with that. Once again, I wish you good luck finishing the project! When the full translation comes out, could someone be kind enough to remind me to have Christine swap horses with Elbert? Gave her his Sinon Stallion for healing purposes at the end of chapter 8. Appreciate it! Unlike the FE games, I never know how many people are even aware of TRS or BWS or that they have translations, so it's a treat to come back here to Serenes every now and again to see your messages. Dirtfall
Outside interest in the game is certainly ramping up, especially as people begin to see how good it is (and those of us who have played it keep shouting about how good it is). Some of that may have to do with Vestaria Saga as well, as people who get exposed to that game start looking into Kaga's back catalog (which inevitably leads them to you). Aethin, I saw in one of these posts on here or on your blog that you've started teaching in Japan. If those students give you any trouble, just let them know you've got an army of nerds on the internet at your command! Respect for Aethin-sama! Interdimensional Observer
Take. Your. Time. There is absolutely no need to rush this wonderful free gift you're providing us with. There is no competition, rushing only invites errors big and small. And at the least, you might finish before the official Vestaria translators get done (for unfortunate reasons).
Saint Rubenio
I've no use for these contentless minnows... Give me update that will sate my Berwicklust... I hunger! Jokes aside, I agree with @Interdimensional Observer. There is no need to rush this. Sooner or later, but the important thing is that this comes out. It'd be a flying shame if you overworked yourself when you're so close to the end! Not to mention, if somebody cannot wait, you've completed the menus and everything, so the game itself is perfectly playable from start to finish. It's just those of us who want to experience the game's awesome story in full that will patiently wait until the end. I'm a little preoccupied with Thracia right now, but for Berwick I'd jump off a train into another train, so I'll make sure to nab the update and give you a status report, as I usually do. ...man, Project Exile has been released, TearRing has been out for a while, this is progressing steadily... if there ever was a time for FE fans to explore the work of the series' creator, that would have to be now. Now if you'll excuse me, I've missed watching Elbert destroy maps. You'll hear from me in a couple days!
david.nguyen
Awesome Aethin, keep up the good work and take your time! Currently I have some grief on some Fire Emblem translation, namely Project Naga and Exile. Maybe I am incorrect since I can't read japanese but these translation don't seem to be accurate with the original japanese script. A good translation should stay faithful to the original script and not add stuff or rewrite sentence (which seems to be the case of project Naga and Exile). For example if a sentence is ambiguous in japanese then it should stay ambiguous in the translation (of course if that is possible!). But it seems you don't follow that trend(!?) In any case Thank you for your hard work! Edited June 6, 2019 by david.nguyen
