Ahahaha

I am planning some really fun stuff for next linked Ironman level - if my needed units survive until the others reach the checkpoint - but i promise you, it's glorious. I usually don't cook that much during Ironmans (as ironmans really make me play in a more safe & wary way), but this i am willing to try.

Can't wait to show it and for it to blow in my face. Hopefully i don't forget it what i planned when next i play XD

Okay, now I remember why I avoided wars. Wars in Stellaris are very... clunky. No option for separate peace offers (so can't knock minor partners of an enemy alliance so they still count for warscore and stuff), and it seems quite complex/lengthy to get the enemy to accept your demands. Well, no more! I think I got enough of warfare in this run... maybe. Gotta mind the Endgame Crisis and Eldritch Horrors to be found. Well, enough Stellaris for today.

As an aside, it's kinda hilarious that my expansion ended being almost a straight line from Earth. It's like being a DC equivalent of expanding farther and farther from the capital which remains the capital. Then again, with Hyper Relays that is stopping to be a problem in terms of distance.

We avoided the bad timeline where Taion was white.

I'll see it over the weekend hopefully. I look forward to the scene where Godzilla uses his atomic breath to fly all the way from Egypt to Brazil while Kong rides on his back.

It's peak Showa honestly.

There's no ethical consumption under capitalism

Gonna amend the statement a but to say that there's no ethical consumption period. Capitalism, socialism, communism, anarchy, people will still suffer regardless.

I don't even think boycotts work these days, not against corporations at least. And if they actually cause a significant dent, the first people to go will be the minimum wage workers just trying to get by.

One thing I've tried asking myself though- does the developer have much a choice but to be based in China? Now I'm not talking Tencent and Netease, where it's pretty obvious I'm told that the authoritarian gov't has a strong hand. A small developer though? Should you not buy an honestly & lovingly-made game from them just because they have little practical choice (how expensive would it be for the entire dev team to move out their home country and rebase elsewhere?) but to live under the People's Bureaucracy Of Total Control and any restrictions it imposes? -Not sure if I'm right thinking this.

People =/= government. And the fact of the matter is that people in these oppressive governments tend to get demonized simply for being born there. Just look at the spike of xenophobia towards Russians in 2022. Putin doesn't care about all those sanctions but the people sure do, yet they can't do much about it without accidentally falling off the 30th floor.

Spoiler

When Riku told Shulk that "everyone close to you is here" referring to the sword, he was being literal lmao.

But nah the funnier part is "Malos is the Sword of the End"

"Why"

"Fuck if I know lol".

Respect.

Okay, decided to resume my XC2 playthrough. Since I did left quite the amount of stuff for "postgame", hahaha. It's fine. Eventually once I play through the entire series, I'll do NG+ runs, so this is to help set things up in advance. Way WAY in advance.

On the other hand, I was only getting increasingly aggressive in my recent ES2 runs. The last I did had me jump into the midgame conquering all the good parts of the half of the galaxy I started in, intentionally stopping short of the ownership threshold I needed to trigger an early win so that I could watch the fruits of my aggressiveness grow. Did it with a faction that is supposed to be pacifist (which ironically ended up being very good at taking the major disapproval hits from owning so much territory) and defensive.

I will say that Xenosaga feels much more consistent than Xenoblade story-wise.

Even the characters seem much more consistent in Saga (character growth seems much more important in Saga to me)

One was planned from the start, the other was made up as it went. But the former suffered from executive meddling while the latter had complete creative control.

*Is about to start up DW9 again, gets overwhelmed by despair-joy-anger-despair internal cycling before I can.* ...Not the best thing in the morning.

Did manage to play the first three Lu Bu story battles last night though. It wasn't a bad start to this odd bonus storyline built around a single hyped-up (yet pretty flat) character. Eunuch-murdering, protecting and then killing Dong Zhuo, not going off into total fantasyland at least to start.

...After that, I assume that at some point, Monolith will run out of reasonable room in the present Xeno-verse, and have to start another. To make that transparent when it happens they should change the name to Xenoshield or Xenospear, because swords are overrated.😝

I'm not sure exactly how I can respond to this. XC3 is still something I can't speak on. And for Xenosaga, well the way I experienced it was a tad bumpy, so I don't know if I can see what you can.

For Xenoblade though, it is self-contained stories, no characters returning over multiple games (the XC3 DLC aside, which again, I can't speak to and my fearful irrational gut reaction until I play it is that the unimaginable absolute worst case scenario unfolded totally ruining everyone who came back), Xenosaga was episodic. Significant difference.

Also on Xenosaga... did MOMO get any character growth in Episode III? Maybe a pinch for the peach biorobot if that? Did KOS-MOS and Shion get that much in Episodes I&II? I'm not sure. Was Jr. the only character to get significant development in all three games? Did chaos get any real development ever? Or being what he is, was chaos pretty much developed completely from the very start?

Fine fine fine fine fine! I've no desire to be spoiled on XC3.😀

But go ahead and alert me if you find the buried-sealed-invisible-translated-into-Harappan filing cabinet where the ending to X2 is gloriously detailed. Because dangit TELL ME ALREADY!

Man, I woke up early and stuff thinking I would have to go out for something I thought started at 8AM... turns out it was 8PM. Somehow my mind never registered that despite it being on the message. Welp.

So, much earlier I got the Brain Slug event, and invited them in, thus my POP's having the Brain Slug Host trait.

Somehow, this trait did not disappeared when gaining the Synth trait.

...

How does that even work!? Is the slug now residing in the artificial brain? Is the slug also a synth now? It baffles me...

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire

the-skar-king-skar-king.gif

Spoiler

I was quite impressed by how much screentime Kong and Diddy Kong Suko got without any humans. An issue I had with GvK was that Kong didn't really get any solo wins despite defeating Mechagodzilla, and this movie amends that by having him win several fights without any help.

Godzilla also got a good showing and Skar King and Shimo were cool (pun unintended) villains, even if Shimo isn't actually evil. If I had a nickel for every movie released this month that had "Empire" in its name and an icy antagonist, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

Why do the lore explanations just make things more confusing? Monolith betrayed us!

I wouldn't mind if next game was entirely disconnected from the rest (Xenoblade Chronicles X2 aside), especially since basically nothing about XC3's plot aside from Future Redeemed required for it to be a sequel.

Let's hit these plot points in order.

Spoiler

The Fog King was apparently just a random Guldo that wandered into Shulk's dimension, which is something I thought was the case ofter XC3 released (prior to that, I assumed it was just a reused asset). In an instance of non-XC3 related information, they also debunked the theory that the Infernal Guldo is Galea.

Most of this enhances my opinion that the writers didn't think some things through all that much. How does Origin work? I dunno, it just works. Why is Malos in N's sword? I dunno, he just is. (Same for Pyra and Mythra.) Why is Fiora a sword? It's the best way for her to help the world, apparently. There are rumors that you can faintly hear "You can't have a rainbow without Reyn, baby" when you stand next to a shard of Origin metal. Nopon are probably eldritch beings at this point, so them being immortal in Aionois is on track. I respect Takahashi for not bringing up The Picture since half of the poll responses were probably about it.

Kojima: Is it alright for Noah to throw Fiora into the ocean at the end of the game?

Takahashi: *goes on a loosely related tangent that basically says "don't worry about it too much"*

Takahashi said he can't talk about some answers yet, but that probably means that he needs more time to come up with explanations. I'll give credit for Moebius being cartoonishly evil because it's realistic that way, can't argue with that logic.
