Benice
69 turns. As for my least favorite maps? Chapters 1, 2 and 3 from FE4 2x in Thracia 8 in FE6 Mmm...Genesis and Value of Life in FE7, but there's a lot of garbo ones. Fort Rigwald in FE8 FE9. Everything in it. 4-4 in RD Undecided for FE11. Manuela/Hanneman paralogue, Ashe paralogue, Chapter 5 and Dorothea/Ingrid for FE16. Marcel's map in Berwick.

Yeah, Vestaria endgame is definitely an endurance test - I really liked it, but it took me over 6 hours to beat my first time, and that kind of length is not at all for everyone. Also, the route split was pretty alright - 16 is a really cool map that plays almost like FE4 with escort elements, but the unit you have to escort moves full move every time, putting the map on a really interesting timer where it grows in intensity as it goes. 17 is trash - cliffs, siege mages with multichance, annoying terrain, just no. 18 is a downright insane experience - for every 5 enemies you kill, one civilian in a cell in the bottom-left of the map will be killed. The opening area is full of Arbalestiers, so it becomes a game of decision-making about what amount of damage is sustainable, and which ones need to die so you can minimize the impact other groups of enemies will deal to you. Meanwhile, you have to protect an allied unit on a treacherous path on the right side while under the threat of reinforcements, and to top it all off, there's the threat of the Black Gauntlet showing up later - insanely powerful cavalier force which forces you to hurry up later. It's extremely chaotic and a really fun experience, imo. 19 is... interesting, to say the least, but having a screwed Cyltan and untrained Dune can make it a bit confusing. It's got cool ideas, and while they're not bad in execution, they could've used some tune-ups. It's a decent map overall. Definitely not as good as 16 or 18. Acacia Sgt
I'd say, I like somewhat gimmicky endgames. This applies more to SRW than FE, but I like the way some of their endgames are done. One gives you a ten turn time limit. Really ups the stakes. Another is also a Defend map, and the are is 5x5 tiles big right in the middle of the map with enemies coming at you from three directions. That's a fun one, if only because it's also a 5x5 tiles big area with HP and EN regeneration, and you get enough deploy slots to box the perimeter. This sounds like an alternate take on that one FE9 map where you have to spare the priests. But yeah, like I said, Cyltan's team was just vastly untrained for the most part so I was essentially sending his side to die. And then hearing about the endgame killed any chance of me going back to it.

Benice
1 minute ago, Armagon said: Really? That's a new one. For me, ambush spawns that aren't range triggered aren't too big of a problem most of the time, since I can use the internet to know when they're coming and what they'll be packing. The maps I dislike the most are boring-I can deal with frustrating, I can deal with too hard and I can deal with gimmicky, but boring is something that stops me. Chapter 8 of FE6 is super long and windy, with an annoying boss to boot. The only map in FE6 that approaches Ch. 8 is, to me, is 20x in Ilia. It's the same reason I dislike Fort Rigwald-a really long, winding map with nothing interesting about it. Heck, they both have canon waifu in trapped at the beginning of it! Also, I don't understand the hate around Henning. He's annoying, sure, but he's really not that bad. 9 minutes ago, Sooks said: Catherine is quaking. Having a paralogue requires being a character. Acacia Sgt
Want long windy path that can become supper annoying? Try Chapter 38 of SRW A. It's kinda like Ch21 of Awakening in that you'll be under siege by 3-11 range attacks. Though they stand in your path so you can deal with them. But the map is a rout anyway... SoV is more a collective slog, it’s not so bad at first but actually trying a full play through is so... dull. Besides I specifically pointed that out. I just went through listing all of the Awakening chapters that really grounded my gears because the bad ones their filled me with a burning, fiery rage. At least to the extent that video games can, anyway.

I would agree if the maps weren't insanely short. Like yeah, the maps are meme quality but I think considering the context that is SoV, the maps work fine. Wouldn't work in any other FE tho. Now you could say this about FE4 as well but the problem is FE4's maps last too long.
Acacia Sgt
Pft, hahahaha! When you're in a PvE meant for 12 players, but you it's just you and one other... then after like twenty minutes trying to take the boss down, the boss just... freezes in place. Don't know if some bug happened... or the game was just taking pity on us... Edited January 10, 2021 by Acacia Sgt
