Hades? 13 Sentinels? A surprise to be sure but a welcome one.

1 vs. 13 spirit battle let's gooooooooo

Also, Godzilla Minus One is getting a black and white screening (i.e. Godzilla Minus Color) for a week, and it will leave American theaters properly on February 1st if you'd like a last chance to see it. Naturally, the poster goes hard:

minus-color-us-poster.jpg

Minus One ended up becoming the highest grossing Japanese language film in the US (Pokémon: The First Movie being the highest grossing Japanese movie overall) and the highest grossing Japanese Godzilla movie, so it had an impressive run.

I hope that's not a typo because this is really funny.

I think it's something they do every time, just for the notoriety. They also did this in the 2020 elections. Lot's of jokes about Trump getting 0 votes somewhere (they all voted Biden).

While ending with the statement "This did not appear in the TV show, the details are unknown", the Mk. II's profile at least tried to invent an ingame explanation for its creation- a way to challenge and overcome Le Cain and his V-MAX Red.

I think that was also its original plan, before being scrapped from the OVA's.

Akimi and Fairey are waiting to go on patrol after Quattro and co. but they get noticed by Professor Plato, Meio's father, who I don't recall appearing in AP.

Yeah, he did not. Sometimes SRW will omit characters or even mechs if someone/something else can pull double-duty. Sometimes... it's not quite clear why. Like, A omits Ulube of G Gundam, since the Devil Gundam doesn't take over the Neo Japan colony... but then Wong survives his canon death at Lantau and is the one behind the Devil Gundam coming back and offers it to Giganos, hence taking over the Mobile Fortress. It's... certainly a unique take.

And like the turn after the Gandor, more southeastern enemies. Zeon, Rakan, the Purus (Judau had a special conversation with Puru but not Two -totally unnecessary for their eventual recruitment), and... "Desert Rommel"?🤨 Quattro strangely had a special convo with the turbaned man before OHKOing him with a crit from the 'Buster.

Well, it's more or less how it went in ZZ Gundam. Well, Puru Two took a while to show up, so Puru had long joined the crew. If I recall that's how it goes.

Dragonar-2 Custom keeps the Supply Module in this game, it lost it in AP (probably because of A).

That was a curious decision. So good to know it keeps it here. Don't know how it goes in MX with that, though.

7 hours ago, Interdimensional Observer said:

It's not what they used in 30 and AP, I think?

No, this one is also seldom used. Zeta Gundam, at least in the old games, would usually use this one:

But as it stands, it has varied throughout its appearances.

And then you had the cases where Kamille would get a different BGM when using Waverider Crash. Or Alpha giving Mizu no Hoshi to Four... and then to Waverider Crash in Alpha Gaiden. And stuff like that.

Okay, so... gotta start the Job Level grind. Preferably with the Black Belt, so then I can go pummel those dragons in the ??? Dungeon. I don't know if my team level is enough, but I hope so, since else it'd mean returning to the Crystal Tower or Eureka to EXP grind.

Damn you really can just auto-battle the Fell Xenolouge huh.

Now that my Ryza journey is over (mostly, i'll chip away at the DLC story), i'm gonna resume my Engage run.

I think I'll do 20 Job Levels per day. Will still be a lot, but it could be manageable this way. Though for the Jobs requiring more actions per level I might have to cut down to 15 per day or even 10 per day.

Still, at some point I have to go grind levels, to fight the Iron Giant. Though I looked up a workable strategy only needing to level up to the high 70's, so I can try that once I do the Job Level grind.

Now, the question is... what to play now. I still have my in-progress Omori playthrough... hmm...

Sub-Episode 34

  • Kamille + China = Four. He bumps into her, she gives her name, he thinks it odd, she comments on the softness of his. He sees she is in a Federation uniform, she says she is. Kamille escorts her to the place she was going.
  • A battle happens against a leaderless mass of Metal Armors and Mobile Suits, Kamille deploys, we’re tasked with defending the base. After like the first turn, Four takes notice of Kamille in the Zeta and one or two turns later she enters the battlefield as an ally. Four joins in a Re-GZ BWS, which makes it the first unit from Char’s Counterattack to show up.
  • For this battle, I decided to play casually and sent out all the Snipers plus the Dolls, for maximum part-breaking efficiency. I took all four Gouf Customs and two of the Kampfers. The latter can be converted into Dustproofs it turns out, I had gone for them because I thought Bernie might like it.
  • After the battle, Four gets introduced into the heroes. Fa is a tad suspicious of Kamille’s relations with her. Alan details how Four is a Cyber-Newtype, saved from Murasame Labs (Chris says they knew the organization), which was a mark of radicalism and corruption within the Federation, although the company is now defunct with its leaders arrested. Four’s iffy mental state isn’t suited for a regular military unit, so she has been placed on the White Base now. Quattro is concerned about that, and asks Lalah for a psyche scan, to which she says Four’s will is not being forced to do anything by anyone, Quattro relieved thanks Lalah for this.
  • Unlike every other sub-scenario, you have to complete 34 a second time if you want all the secrets this game has. And I do, so I do.
    • The only text blurb at the start this time is a very short one between the Dragonar trio about a letter and the nature of life in general. The battle itself was exactly the same, so four more Bio Sensors and two Dustproofs it was.
    • Afterwards Prof. Plato gives the Dragonar trio three Dragoons just in case of an emergency. EWAC is neat, kinda compensates for their low firepower -but only the Dragonar boys can use them and they have their titular units, so they're pretty useless.

Episode 35

  • Some Gradosians talk behind Le Caine's back against his policies thinking Earthlings equal to Gradosians, they consider mutiny. Le Caine walks in on their protests, they try to deny having said anything, Le Caine kills them all on the spot. Le Caine then returns to Julia, she asks if he has killed again. Le Caine rants sounding like an insecure mad king to Julia, desperately with ...ellipses... commanding her to pray for his father and he the patricidal son.
    • I forget if it was Le Caine or the lackeys but it is stated that a replacement for Le Caine is being sent to Earth. He clearly doesn't want to give up his position, so he has been destroying all the Station Satellites to sever the link to Grados.
  • Julia, having been allowed to leave, goes to console the common people and ends up among some resistance members. General Kabuto discovers this and begins indiscriminate killing of those around the Holy Maiden of Cusco to draw out more people, but leaves her alive for that reason.
    • Sometime during the fight, General Kabuto insists that it be him that captures the Maiden to restore his reputation, not Grados. Who arrive in the form of first some Terminator Police and then the Demon Death Squad.
  • The SPT trio arrives and so does Daltanious since it is the Zarl Empire being fought. Turn 2 lets me choose which of the two battleships I wish to field, though Bright is doing the talking regardless. Alan tells Eiji to rescue the Holy Maiden of Cusco, but he doesn't realize who it is until he sees her, and when he does, well there isn't time to talk right now, he just gets her to the battleship.
  • I chose to deploy the Dragonars here, they all exchange banter with their ladies and Prof. Plato about how the Custom upgrades feel. (Strangely, the Lifter versions had S Air, which is gone now.) I also fielded Kamille and Judau, and they have their own little conversation with others about how Kamille is always serious and Judau is always relaxed.
  • Sometime during the above Le Caine gets told by Ro' about what is happening, disgusted by the barbarity of Kabuto. Le Caine desires to go personally, but Ro' disapproves of that idea, for if the Maiden dies he may get blamed, strengthening anti-Grados resistance. Le Caine sends the Demon Death Squad again when Gosterro charges in, yearning for the chance to kill Julia, despite his repeated failures, Le Caine will give Gosterro one last chance.
    • I'm honestly not sure if I killed the Demon Death Squad here. No dramatic death dialogue.
  • After the fight, on the villains' side-
    • Le Caine was bewildered after the battle that the Demon Death Squad was annihilated. He demands the Earthling resistors obliterated.
    • Kloppen of the Zarl Empire lambasts Kabuto and Voider for their failures, general Nesia will take over. The Zarl Empire has suffered losses beyond recovery on Earth according to Roanne. And Le Caine's maddened destruction of the Station Satellites is harming the Interstellar Alliance's cause.
    • Ondoron of the Robot Empire ponders why the Robot Empire is helping Zarl, and expects to be criticized, but he isn't. He says robot production on the Moon is going well, his superior Zakron praises him for that and yet is told to return home. The Extradimensional Union appears to be making moves that would take the war beyond Earth to the Interstellar Alliance itself, defenses must be strengthened on the home front.
  • For the heroes, people get told who the Holy Maiden of Cusco is including her being Eiji's sister. Alone together Julia forgives Eiji for Gale, she explains her path of nonresistance, and what she has been doing and how she has found purpose in life. Eiji takes in her sister's worldview alongside his own, and tells him they need to go to Cusco.
  • Julia, before Captain Bright, Quattro, and Alan, gives the full truth about the Gradosians to them and Eiji. A long time ago, the draconic ancestors of modern Gradosians were having reproduction problems. They searched the cosmos for a similar lifeform, found planet Earth and used the vitality of the ancestors of modern Earthlings to create new Gradosians and fix the infertility issue. They then created the Seal of Grados, buried in Cusco, to separate Earthlings from Gradosians until the two sibling tribes both reached maturity.
    • Use of the Seal of Grados could possibly help end the war. Alan reports Interstellar Alliance searches of South American ruins. Bright gives the OK to set sail and investigate Cusco. Akimi and Fairey in their own room discuss if the Seal of Grados is a C.U.B.E..

Oh, how quickly things seem to be changing.

FE4 is very cozy to play compared to most Fire Emblem games I feel. I don't know, I like managing a bigger army in this context and planning out routes on a big map.

"Oh he's trying to retake the capital? Fucking finally, we can use that as an excuse to annex the entire place then."

A female captain of a pirate band? That's spicy even for modern Fire Emblem.

Not that I expect this game to be particularly interesting with it...

Fire_Emblem_4_-_Seisen_no_Keifu_J186.png

Pfft!

I'm just imagining a very polite boyish voice going "Please kindly fuck off"

Fire_Emblem_4_-_Seisen_no_Keifu_J187.png

I mean considering on average this gal can deal more damage to the average foe than most of our team I feel like all we need to do is give her a horse and have Arden take care of Seliph or something.

It's a curious move to have secrets depend on replaying a map more than once, I'd say.

It's only this one that does. And it sounds like the ones you could fail (such as recruiting Bernie) must be done on the first play of the sub-scenario.

BTW, while the Seal of Grados reeks of pure SRW invention, how much does the GC version of the Truth About Gradosians & Earthlings align with the original SPT Layzner's?

I think it's just about right. Don't remember if the fertility thing was also there, but it's true the Gradosians we see are humans taken there by the original Gradosians, and who then forgot they ever came from Earth.

The Seal is not a SRW invention, actually. It does show up in the OVA's and its purpose... well, you'll see, possibly.

As the fact I slipped the utterly-false word "draconic" in there indicates, as I read that ingame, I couldn't help but think of a certain franchise.😏

Well, what do you know.

The part of the apology I expressed concerns about might have been a complete lie.

There are only two possible scenarios here:

1. She's lying through her teeth. However, it would be an extremely easy lie to disprove - Chugga just has to post screenshots of the DMs where they solved the issue.

2. He lied through his teeth. Y'know, in the middle of his "really mature and earnest" apology. Oh dear.

While I don't doubt that the convo with the friend happened and that he stopped harrassing her afterwards, "she sent a mutual friend to tell me to stop because I wouldn't listen to her and she was afraid of me" is wildly different from "she told me to stop and I listened." And considering that part was what made most people accuse her of being a cancelling clout-chaser, well... you can see how this casts doubt on the sincerity of his entire apology.

Also, a number of content creators have begun to pop up echoing her sentiments. From what I've gathered (since, again, I didn't watch Chugga and I don't think I ever will) the most damning of them is this woman who had appeared in his videos in the past. But there's a whole bunch.

If he does post those DMs I'll take my words back, but until then, it's looking pretty damn bad. And people will still make up a bunch of bullshittery to defend him, of course, but at least now it's out in the open. He cannot just keep it under wraps anymore.

..the ice map?

Why?

It's just Conquest finale without inevitable end, and more fun all around!

And you have Engage+ to hard counter it as well!

but we do differ on Conquest late game, and Engage does follow on the same design principles on Conquest late game

Definitely gave me Conquest lategame flashbacks. Which is not a good thing, as you say.

Chapter 22 was really the culprit, though. Chapter 22 left me so burned out that I struggled to continue. Still beat chapter 23 because chapter 23 is extremely easy. Then chapter 24 came around and I just couldn't keep going. I was having no fun anymore watching my units be completely useless and having to rely on Zelkov and a couple others killing everything before everything could 2-shot me.

Still feeling it now, too. Though at this point there's also the "every platform to play the game has disadvantages" issue. I don't know when I'll be able to comfortably replay this game, but it's looking to be a really long time. Shame...

That i can't relate to however. Enemy units are extremly strong yes, but you have all the Emblems in your hands, the enemy only Marth + Dragon Veins..

You also get Engage+.

I remember someone else having also alot of trouble with the map, then i pointed him to Engage+ and he was able to figure it out. It's a super powerful tool with alot of anti-corrupt stuff, and powerful auras.

I think the best part about Ultimate is that the devs were all "we don't want this game to be like Melee." Only for the game to end up... just like it in the end.

Super tight techs? Check. One note ways to play characters? Check. Awfully balanced cast? Check. lmao
