CLANNAD

I've watched this anime, and enjoyed it. I see it somewhat like Kanon, but with more funny parts, and not quite so serious.

I've watched all of the Clannad Series 1 episodes, as well as the movie, and the special episode called Another World, Tomoyo Chapter.

There is a new series called "After Story" currently airing in Japan. The 10th episode will be airing in Japan on the 5th December.

*Is waiting for it to be released with subs*

I watched the anime version soon after Raven suggested it (I watched it right after Kanon), it was a lot of fun even though the jumping between focal characters wasn't as seamless as it was in Kanon. The atmosphere of the overall story is really pleasant and attractive. The Tomoyo chapter was fun as well, but I didn't particularly enjoy the movie. I've watched the first two episodes of the After Story season but I haven't enjoyed it very much either, I'll give it another chance over Christmas break.

All the first season's already released and been subbed, but I can't give any news on any dubbed makes of it.

Watched First season as it was airing, same with AS. It's a Kyo Ani adaption of a Key Visual Novel, so I have to. :D

Movie I'm not even going to watch, because Visual Novels can rarely be adapted into Movies without being massively lowered in quality.

I love Clannad in general though, as it's of fairly high quality.

That it is... It's amazingly close to Kanon in quality. No surprise, since Kanon 2006 and Clannad are done by the same group, Key Visual. Ahh... I love them both.

Your forgot that KyoAni also animated both of them (and Air too, I love the trio :D). KyoAni is pretty awesome.

Yeah... There's Kyoto Animation which is responsible for the 2006 version, and there's Key which is responsible for the initial... games. .. :D

Uh huh. I love Clannad, and I actually (after seeing both Clannad and After Story up until now) prefer it over Kanon and Air, although I love them too. I think I just like Okazaki more as a male lead, and I quite like some of the other characters too. Plus, the fist fights (not the Tomoyo ones, the actual, gritty ones) really got me. And it just keeps getting better.

I finished it, and I loved it, but a few things disappointed me. Like, why does it seem like Kyou and Tomoyo didn't have their own arcs? They're in the opening theme after all. It was also annoying how Ryou apparently had a thing for Tomoya, but that idea was swept under the rug and forgotten.

Despite the problems, I enjoyed it a lot. It was hilarious and had a great story and good character development. I did not, however, enjoy it as much as Kanon or Shuffle!

?? That's part of the point, really. Kyou/Ryou's Arc (they're supposed to be together) progressed over the entire length of the show, and Tomoyo has an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT ALTERNATE ENDING EPISODE for her. :P Plus, you need to watch After Story. They are likely to expand a bit in it, because Clannad actually went far more slowly than they though it would. They're still yet to cover the whole game, so just wait and watch After Story. :D

Tomoyo and Tomoya had a special episode for them, named "Clannad: Another World, Tomoyo Chapter".

Also, Clannad ~After Story~ continues from the original series.

There's also a film which basically has all of Series 1 and Series 2 in a nutshell, focusing on just Tomoya and Nagisa. Like the Air movie did.

I'm aware of the extra episode for Tomoyo, but I don't feel like that's compensation as it was more like a fanfic than anything. Still, I guess I just have to watch After Story now.

I wanna ask, what is the genre of this anime?

Well the Tomoyo Episode was based on the game's Tomoyo Arc, and the sequel game Tomoyo After, so I dunno about it being a fanfic... :P But yeah, watch After Story, hopefully it will expand more, although we'll see. Clannad the game had a LOT of content in it, so I think it was a massive challenge to get it all in.

But yeah, I prefer Clannad over Kanon and Air (and Shuffle!, but that's in a totally different running. Shuffle! is funny and charming and all, but it's basically pornOK, not really :P) for a couple reasons. One of the main ones is probably that Clannad has its happier overall theme, and is more on the light side, as well as it's focus on the importance of family and people around you, the "silver lining" aspect (although this is done a lot more later), perseverance, and happiness in general. Plus, Tomoya has a lot more, well, character, than Yuuchi, or at least, Yuuichi is a lot less memorable. Both where the "player character" in Visual Novels, so character might be hardish to get, but I believe Tomoya got the better end of the stick. Plus I love Mag Mell. I love Kanon too though.

I've just watched episode 13, and

they've just registered to get married

.

It's following up the rear of the movie... Very close. Which makes me sad...
