Damn this is cool.

Some of the angles in the face are kinda conflicting, I think, the chin is kinda sloping too far to the right. Looks this way because the left cheek is full-ish and the right cheek is hollow-ish, or at least the bottom of the chin on the right is. I feel like the hair kind of hides this issue a bit but it's worth addressing

The hair is awesome but it isn't reading super well at actual size, looks almost pillowy? It read much better before you made it detailed. Maybe add some more contrast, use more border color or more of the light color, IDK, and only use the detai in some areas rather than all over? Also, is it tied back or behind her shoulders? I think it would be nice to leave a piece of it or two hanging out or in front of her body, it's very isolated to her head at the moment.

Also the shading on the blue part on the hat doesn't make a lot of sense, and the cloak is a little weird on the right shoulder

If you're on skype later today I can try to help more '3' I'm tabletless currently or else I woulda done some sort of edit

It looks like he doesn't have much of a jaw. Try giving him more of a jawline and also move in his mouth a bit from the right (our POV). His ear is a bit pointy and his nose needs to be brought down at least a pixel or too, 'cause right now it's too high. I can give you a quick ref if you want.

Alright, I whipped this up real quick, hopefully it'll help you get a better idea of what I was trying to say. And you can ignore the extra shading bits, I was playing around with it a bit too much. XD

The eyes look a bit wonky, and when I zoom in it almost looks like you copied and pasted them across and only minimally changed the shading

Maybe try something like this? (Fort and Village for perspective, they should be in the right place)

Best way to learn how to do mountains is to just blatantly copy soem of the FE ones and then make small changes (that's how I learned anyway). It also helps to learn which tiles go where or you'll spend half you time looking for on specific tile. :P

Something I forgot to say/didn't mention at all:

The mountain tiles have like... shades, I guess, of their own: http://gyazo.com/4c5f3b5ffa724436b6ae026f2f96c82e Left no shade, middle half shade, right all shade.

it's important to keep them in mind when you're making mountains, though you can basically get away with only using the "all shade tiles" XD.

In the upper left corner of your map you have a full shaded tile going towards a no shaded tile, so it looks wierd: http://gyazo.com/5fe7e1be3b7a5149bebc22c65084cf62

Also for learning to map, Prime's tutorial is a godsend, I'm pretty sure it's in the Spriter's Resource.

Well the water looks a little spammy, try using some of the lighter color tiles. Not obligatory, but maybe you could put some light gras somewhere?

Mountains:

- When you put peaks in the middle of the mountain I think, not sure, you're supposed to use this tile: http://gyazo.com/00420a8e00cc6a6c46d03ec46907d025 instead of this one http://gyazo.com/3f0622c4da0302b9c91edebbf13f3e1f

- Some of shadows are off, like here: http://gyazo.com/31741cf81923fe14ec21db86182ee3b2

- All the extra space on the left of the mountain looks a bit... well empty I guess, maybe trim some of it off or add some peaks there?
