Ah, I see now. I'm excited. ^^

But it's stupid that you can only see the upcoming short film about Anna's birthday if you go see the dumb live action Cinderella in theaters. >_>

If the live action Cinderella takes a "Maleficence" style approach as in, a different take on a familiar story. I think i'll be ok with it.

I wasn't interested in Maleficent either, see. I just find these live action remakes pointless. Can't Disney go back to making new live action movies like Inspector Gadget or their Pirates of the Caribbean films? I don't want anything as creepy as the latter, but yeah. 101 Dalmatians did get a pretty decent live action take, but even its sequel was still completely new. 102 Dalmatians was pretty awesome as well.

Maleficent was actually quite the awesome movie, i'd highly recommend it. The whole thing is brilliant.

I've seen bits and pieces of it at work since they played it on the TVs in the electronics section constantly. It didn't impress me that much. The actress they chose to play Aurora is ugly as hell and the ending is STUPID. Maleficent isn't supposed to turn good, she's a villain and evil. It took what made the animated movie so good and butchered it. :(

Although, one part I found kind of cute was when little Aurora hugged her. :P

Tis just a re-imagining, I quite liked that they humanized her and I feel the actress they picked for Aurora played the role well and was cute.

The animated film is one of my absolute favorite Disney films too. Only behind my love of Robin Hood, Sword in the Stone and The Rescuers.

Well, I still don't think that Disney does as well with live action films as they do with animated ones. I loved Inspector Gadget and the National Treasure movies. And 102 Dalmatians. But none of the others I've seen impressed me that much at all, or in Pirates of the Caribbean's case, it was...too scary. xP

EDIT: Oh wait, I do love the Air Buddies series too. :P But I still love way more animated Disney films.

I don't like their take on Inspector Gadget very much, but I will agree with National Treasure, and I like Pirates quite a bit.

I don't get why so many people hated Inspector Gadget. I read that the main complaint was how violent it was. But what did people expect, it's a film about a robotic COP in live action. Plus, I felt that Matthew Broderick played Gadget himself perfectly. He kept to the guy's bumbling personality and was just as entertaining to watch, though without the obliviousness. But that was okay, because I'm not sure how the obliviousness would've fit in a live action film. They tried it in the sequel...and it sucked.

What's more, PIrates of the Caribbean shows violence and even dead bodies. Yet it did extremely well.

Incidentally, the really loud part of Let It Go always gave off a Fascist vibe to me. I don't know why. Probably has something to do with the way she stands a the end, yelling about empowerment. Ah, whatever.

One of my cousins is a huge fan of Frozen and she actually named her daughter Elsa in honor of Frozen. (Granted, the name's been popular where I live for nearly two decades.) She especially loves Let it Go.

I admit, Frozen isn't one of my favorite Disney movies, but I do like it. Let it Go is a great song, if a bit overrated.

Oh, I still think Let it Go is a good (if overdone) song. I just get Fascist vibes from it. It's a completely unnatural reaction.

Probably because you are reading way too much into it.

Am i the only one annoyed with these Disney live-action remakes? Cuz omg. Leik, come up with something original or gtfo. This is the laziest move Disney's done in hella days.

I'm sure Disney will tire of it eventually. Remember back in the late 90s and the 2000s when they constantly churned out sequels to their animated movies? (Granted I did like some of them, like the Lion King sequel and the Little Mermaid sequel, but I don't think it was necessary for Bambi or The Fox and the Hound to get sequels. Surprisingly they never made one for Sleeping Beauty, and yet in the original French version by Charles Perrault the princess and the prince's wedding is only the midpoint of the story!)

I wish The Great Mouse Detective had gotten a sequel, it was SO good. It was cute and gave me so many feels.

I agree that "Let it Go" is an amazing song! I might perform it at a talent show my work might be holding. I need to practice it a bit more though, as it's a tough one to do well, even though people tell me I have a good voice, and I can't seem to ever memorize this one line in it. And my memory is generally ace when it comes to song lyrics.

I believe that Frozen is a herald of things to come from Disney.

all things considered, and within the context of all animated feature films released, Frozen is not very exceptional. It's a decent film that honestly came completely out of left field (at the time, people were claiming that the Disney Princess lineup and animated musicals were dead) which is partly why became such a huge phenomenon.

however, Frozen has shaken the very foundations of the Disney Princess formula, and has proved that there still is a market for a well-constructed animated musical feature film. In this case, Frozen is akin to The Little Mermaid, which although also was a flawed movie, it helped kickstart the Disney Renaissance with a stream of successful films which lead to the complete domination of the box office by Disney.

as far as themes and plot structure goes, the film deviated largely from the standard Disney Princess formula, albeit a bit tongue-in-cheek at times, but I do see this attitude extending to future film productions. This movie proved to Disney that a Disney Princess film can be more than just princesses, knights in shining armor, and dragons, so they will be more willing to pursue other types of stories.

I might be a bit too harsh with it, but the only good thing I found on Frozen was its visual. I admit some of its songs are good while others became hardly bearable after listening for the first time (I'm quite tired of listening to people sing Let It Go). But that's all. Even under the standards of children movies, the story, characters and plot are stupid and shallow. Disney animations usually have a deeper meaning that the characters and plot proggression point to (A Bug's Life and Searching Nemo come into mind), whereas Frozen is dull on that department. I find it no better than a nonsensical eye candy.

*Finding Nemo

I don't see anything bad about Frozen's story and characters, I got feels from it, Olaf is so entertaining, and it deviates from Disney's usual Disney princess story formula. It's something a little different and more unique than past films about princesses. I honestly expected the ending to be the typical male love interest kisses the girl to save her, but no! I was pleasantly surprised when it was Elsa that saved Anna, not Kristoff! I was like "OH, so sweet and awesome! A classic love between sisters!" Forget Lilo & Stitch, this movie was a better sisters/family film. Imo, Lilo & Stitch was just plain weird and dull.

Problems with frozen:

1.Lack of characterization:Hans and Even Elsa suffer from lack of characterization for example in Elsa's case this is what I know about her character: I am a princess who got magic and I got locked down in my room for no good reason AND I CARE FOR MY SISTER who taunted me for years

2.Comic Relief Animals are fun!:THE DEER and Olaf are just used for comic relief for kids but humor is subjective but I was not entertained

3.Lack of clarification of Elsa's powers:What are they exactly we know its ice but how can ice bring snow to life TELL ME WHAT IT MEANS TELL ME WHAT IT MEANS

4.Lack of a colorful aesthetic: Frozen's actual strong point is its visuals who are really impressive but its really lacking in the color department because we are set in snow unlike tangled we wont usually get out of the colors blue white and light blue and lots of whiiiiiiiite

5.Trying to create a villain because disney cant deal without having a villain:Hans is useless ABSOLUTE useless he is the bad guy because disney needed one even if its not needed

The save was such b8 it wasn't even impressive because it didn't feel natural it felt shoe horned Kristoff as a character feels shoe horned so I was not suprised I thought it was just critic b8 like dieing in a movie

The process of my thought btw from the 1st watch: Oh Hans has to have some connection to the story but he wont save her he had little to do in the plot Kristoff? no they didn't really build what characters are left mabye elsa or if we really pushing it olaf?

Lilo and stitch has some of the greatest execution of all animation in portraying the Lilo and her sister relationship in the narrative but the stitch part of lilo and stitch is pretty meh and dull
