  1. Simple, my units could kill anything in one round but only Byleth and Edelgard could survive enemy phase. Ferdinand is useful for avoiding damage, El will tank it, and I'm pretty sure Byleth was immortal because if somehow he failed to dodge on the 5-10% hit the avg enemy had, he vantage one round crit them anyway and healing focus back the damage on player phase. So I was fine as long as I didn't end up with too many enemies that required three units to kill, like demonic beasts (three health bars, barrier immune to magic, 1/3 of my group were magic damage.) when I realized the beasts by discount!ferdinand would never move, the map became insultingly easy.
  2. I'm avoiding spoilers for routes I haven't completed but so far Edelgard gives the impression of being ideologically fixed and a knight Templar personality.I haven't much to go on to see how she'd be convinced not to salt the earth wherever the church had taken route.
  3. She's saying that even as he stood stoically by as she suffered his fingers dug into his hands causing them to bleed and his eyes showed his real concern. Essentially she understood he hated all that happened to her even if he was powerless to stop it. I think, it's been a while since I went through it. Just a really flowery way of saying it, maybe due to translation.
  4. Given thread topic, a gold ending in the truest sense is kind of impossible because Edelgard and church elements will never work together. That there is some character death and tears already. I guess you could make an independent route where Byleth sets all his students in timeout but I've only gone halfway through GD and completed CF so I can't comment much beyond that.
  5. You have the right to complain, not the right to have those complaints validated. I'd accept the argument that you simply want it, don't try to push as if it's an improvement to quality or tapping into a sizable market, I'm sorry but it really isn't. I don't think I can say this any nicer and still maintain my message.
  6. Personally I quite enjoyed Edlgards ability to speak candidly with Dimitry of her intent to burn his country to the ground and his dogged refusal to pick up on it or at least get she was serious.
  7. Well by gameplay, yes. By story you'd be fine theoretically if you stepped aside. For myself personally I was convinced I was fucked if Rhea figured out I may have maybe killed her god. I actually thought that was going to end up the context for the battle. as it was most of my units sans Byleth and Ferdinand were underleveled and under skilled because I misunderstood how to properly get professor levels and thus could barely do battles so even in gameplay it was basically only Byleth that was going against her. Warp stride right up to her get a nice bit of dialogue showing she's got some regret.. (honestly what tipped the scale for me) i was predisposed towards Edelgard, had max support rank for timeline, goddess tower, etc. I REALLY wasn't in the mood for killing her and meanwhile rhea did some science on my body and might execute me for deicide. Since my loyalty was to my students first and foremost, I chose the answer that had me save all of them. Of course I was a. If dummy and didn't pay enough attention to flayns supports so I lost my dancer right around the same time I realized why I thought her eyes were so damn creepy and that she was probably a dragon too. so I was really feeling like the bad guy when I started burning down the monastery and punted flaunt through a wall but at least I could console myself that rhea turned into a massive dragon and was probably evil. ill neaten this out later and make it slightly less rambling, I'm on my phone for the best 5 hours or so. Suffice to say I stumbled through possibly the smoothest possible entry into her route.
  8. Hard to say, the choices if made up to that point hadn't created a lot of love with rhea (Jerald didn't trust so I kept being evasive, I also stumbled through some of her affairs mitt down choices) I also kept high relations with Edelgard, did attempt an alliance with the Phoenix emperor and Byleth always shows a certain devotion to his students. Could go either way, depending on wether Edelgard or Rhea comes off as the bigger threat to your students.
  9. There isn't there's just a split off if you go with the church.
  10. We at the very least got an end game cutscene and such, decent one too but I'd certain not appreciate a patch to bring the route up to the others. It's a unique enough alt to the standard fe fare and the extra effort to get in means I have a special appreciation for it. Just wish it didn't feel so comparatively sparse.
  11. I quite enjoyed it for what it was, just don't seem to see why everyone was complaining about it having unfair amounts of content when it seems comparatively lacking. Maybe there's more with the church route but it seems that much of the content is scavenged from other routes, would rather have simply automated the choice and given the route more love. I mean you roll over the alliance in two chapters, might be realistic since you're the dark empire, but come on give us something.
  12. Incidentally, I have a question about part 2 all routes. While I find it actively impossible not to make Byleth a walking apocalypse in this game, I've found that the damage output of everyone else (barring lords, usually) drops significantly compared to even the part 1 finale and doesn't really pick up even with 3 battles a week to xp grind and master classes. Can't tell if I'm getting stat screwed or fundamentally mistaken in my builds. I'm playing Hard classic.
  13. Well, having finally started on Golden Deer part 2, I can say that complaints of Edelgard/black eagles getting undue favoritism are not only completely unfounded, it's more the opposite. Seriously I was happy to get a few CGs and a cutscene for the end, Golden Deer ends part 1 with a cutscene and opens part 2 with another, as well as the fact that Blue lions and Golden Deer get far more maps to begin with, and a proper warm up map, ect... What the fuck mate, what were you guys complaining about exactly?
  14. I did check this, El will put him down regardless of who scores the kill, I'd say I feel bad but Felix really poisoned the well with Dimitry so I didn't exactly feel bad about his demise, having not played Blue lions yet.
  15. Edelgard, felt like I was always building towards it and she had more exposure than the non lord students so I had more time to grow fond of her. Nevermind that the design and personality hits all the right vibes in what I like for a character.
  16. Here's how they work: put healers on Byleth and your Lord, get a heal ring, never die, win forever.
  17. What route? I had the option to let him go and he just up and left said, "good game, have fun fighting the psycho king!" Maybe because I fought him specifically with Byleth?
  18. So been playing through he game, (forked out the money for a switch and collector's preorder despite disliking consoles) and found myself going down the Black Eagles path. Now I snagged a few thematic followers form the other houses at the last moment, Ignatz begged me that Thought he wanted to see the goddess chamber and not that I'd actually accidentally met his requirements. Regardless, I got Felix, interesting fellow. Edgy, but in a pleasurable way. Unfortunately he was the only Blue Lion I got. He was also very easy to make a decent unit despite the late grab. Am I a bad person for making him kill literally all his childhood friends and father personally? Also what other character deaths really hit the spot in the tragedy/feels department for your own playthroughs?
  19. What did the va do that was so bad? oh, right above me. huh, at least he's admitting to it rather than some third party blowing it open. Makes him honestly f nothing else.
  20. Keeping Byleth alive wasn't an issue, keeping him from slaughtering half the map on hard classic was. Basically I had to go out of my way to keep my units leveled without Byleth and Edelgard killing everything with their 6 stat ups a turn and the gravy train of approx 120,000 gold allowance. The rest of my units were distressingly frail even if they hit like a truck.
  21. Went Fighter > Thief > Merc > Swordmaster > Enlightened one. Get to enjoy the latter half of the game where no one really gets above 50 to hit and many sit comfortably around 5 to hit and an infinite use 50% heal combat art. Hard classic, Game is basically whether or not I can complete the objective with Byleth before my equally leveled units die to the horde.
  22. Pretty much, for me, this mindset helps me to choose my choices carefully because it creates a sense of "finality" even if I go back to see the other options.
  23. Oh where was this? I've only followed off and on so I'd like to here what the requirements are or how that will work. I consider my first playthrough for any game with choices to be my "true" run, so even if I get a golden ending later I'll only see it as a "what if" rather than how things went down. for this reason I don't really mind, so long as its not a "choose the good ending" like in awakening or "buy the good ending" like in fates. Unlike the previous two, I've got the feeling Three Houses might actually get me invested in the characters, the latest trailer really did bump up Claude for me. I feel that will have some pretty good investment when before I was feeling Edelgard since she seemed to know what was going on, had that mysterious vibe, and seemed to have a unique relationship with the teacher (since she was the favored trailer student, it seems.)
  24. As a young, handsome, self-assured straight man, I must say. wasn't feeling the Claude brigade at the beginning but damn he went from daddy to daddy and I've totally developed one heck of a man crush on him. Also enjoying Edelgard's older look, think the new voice actress works for her but the original fits better for the young!Edelgard, see how it sounds on launch. Not sure for Dimitry, I believed the leaks and was happy to see my faith rewarded, might be nice to see golden boy turn edgy boy but I still lack the spark for his house. I disagree, it's just... you don't do that. I know it's a long shot but I assumed they're supposed to be stand alone. If what Thani said was true about the fourth true path being a golden ending, I'll be annoyed. and since it's most likely true, replace that by 'I'm very annoyed by that' I'm fine with a "golden ending" so long as it has its own drawbacks, or at least is difficult enough that I have to earn it, problem with Fates is the fact that the investment required was the $$$ rather than good choices or hard work. If I have to do some funky map tricks or even make some actual real choices in a fire emblem game, I'll be a happy camper for that golden ending.
  25. I'm half tempted to make Edelgard and her entire house some form of bandit army with her as the bandit queen. They're already an empire so with my leadership and teaching I'll have them a Fire Emblem cliche in no time.
