  1. Right, so at the moment I'm trying to hammer down the last few of my pairs that I'm working on. - Maribelle x Libra / Ricken - Miriel x Stahl / Lon'qu - Cordelia x Stahl / Lon'qu Maybe Laurent likes Ricken as a dad, but I'd rather allocate him to Owain or Brady. What are the pros and cons of each of these prospective pairings? I recall from my last question session that Libra!Owain acts as a sweeper while Ricken!Owain is more of a striker, but I'm trying to weigh my options on Brady (and the other two) before I make the decisions.
  2. In that case, I almost wonder if maybe Dark Knight shouldn't be dropped to D by grounds of being outclassed in all its roles. Heck Darkfliers can get Bowbreaker/Aegis/Iote's Shield to deal with arrows and sort of negate that downside of using them, too.
  3. Gaius, I don't think it's necessarily contradictory for Cool^3 to point those things out in the contexts that he did. When he was talking about the skills, he was referring to my A-rank description (in which the mention was admittedly unnecessary and redundant). In the case of Bow Knights, I think it's fair to say that it's relevant to bring up Bowfaire. Incidentally the aforementioned A-tier description has been reworded slightly. Sorry about that. Any other reasons why GL shouldn't be dropped to D? Also, can a similar case be made for Grandmaster VS Dark Knight? If the Paladin outclasses the GL presumably due to movement, doesn't the Grandmaster suffer a similar problem?
  4. Think of the timeline like a railroad with a fork in it. Chrom and co are in a train hurtling down the tracks; on the left side of the track split is the future where Grima destroys everything, while the right split is the future where Grima is defeated. Railroads usually have that lever that changes which fork the train goes down, right? Lucina came from the left track, Grima's future, and turned the lever to change the tracks from her future to the good future. Now, her future still exists, but the course of events has been changed so that the current timeline doesn't proceed to those events. It's an oversimplification, but that basically sums it up. Of course in actuality timelines have infinitlely-branching paths, like how the Avatar can have any number of different appearances or spouses, and generally you only ever see one-- in the case of Awakening, we see at least two. (My knowledge about Future of Despair / Future Past is deliberately lacking, as I haven't played it yet and am avoiding spoilers sorry.)
  5. zlCfzRopJwUcT6gEoc (it doesn't seem to want to let me post the picture.) Limited and rather lackluster as the male customization options are, I like to imagine him with a different hairdo (bangs parted in the front like… uhh… Erk I suppose?) and like to pretend he has an Ike-esque headband bcuz why not. (also I couldn't think of a good quote for him to say OTL) EDIT: Headcanon appearance Aside from the part where he's stupid and ugly because I'm bad at drawing I don't really consider him to be a Robin-esque character either so much as just me in the game, like AC said of his. Marries Tiki and is generally a bit more stressed-out and careworn than Robin usually seems to be (because Hard mode is embarassingly difficult right now). Like I shared in the headcanon thread, his deal is that he's the same tactician as my one for Lyn in FE7, and after the events of that game, he somehow got sucked into the Outrealms or something, where he was then dumped into Ylisse. Validar then finds him and story-related Grima business ensues. I… I haven't really gotten the details straight yet. And yes, I know it's incredibly dumb. I also have a rather more… tailored, shall we say? Backstory for his daughter, who I'm saying is named Nubrya instead of Morgan because reasons.
  6. I gather you'd argue the same thing for Grandmaster VS Dark Knight?
  7. Good to know, but regardless I realized that bringing up Amatsu was a terrible point anyway.... haha.... Guess the tiers are finished for now, then. This is now a semi-worthy resource, I hope. Maybe I'll go back in and add spoiler tags explaining why each class is tiered as such.
  8. Done-- that just about finishes it up, then. I don't know that there's much else to discuss, but I suppose I'll leave it open for debate, since these are hardly what I'd call set in stone. Incidentally, is the Dancer / Olivia perhaps worth bumping to S-rank for her unique niche? …the lack of offensive capability probably not worth it, huh
  9. True point ._. I feel so ashamed /)m(\ Errrm, well, here's my list of pairings that I've recently decided on / been advised on for my new game: MU x Lucina / Noire Chrom x Olivia Lissa x Libra / Ricken Sully x Donnel Miriel x Lon'qu / Stahl Sumia x Henry Maribelle x Ricken / Libra Panne x Frederick Nowi x Vaike Cordelia x Stahl / Lon'qu Tharja x Gaius Cherche x Gregor > > Kellam and Virion remain unmarried. The first slash is the choice I'm leaning towards on pairings that have more than one of them.
  10. Right. I don't know how good the descriptions actually are, but I've gone ahead and done the tier descriptions. Incidentally, all the units have been currently tiered except the Swordmaster, who's still in Limbo between C and D. I can't help but wonder if maybe the Swordmaster deserves C for access to the niche Myrmidon-class weapons like Amatsu for ranged attacks that don't rely on the Magic stat. (EDIT: Just remembered Ragnell exists too making this point kind of moot) If the SM in question can get access to Lancebreaker, then maybe the Sword-lock isn't COMPLETELY terrible either…? EDIT @ below: yep I see that. I realized after the Ragnell thing that there wasn't much they can actually lay claim to, so I'll add them to D.
  11. How do you know Lucina didn't chest-bind herself under her outfit to better impersonate a man?
  12. It's sounding to me like Manaketes are okay in C. I suppose that 'units that aren't as good as the others but still have a unique niche' is a pretty appropriate description for anyone in the C-rank tier, where D-rank is just units that are usable, but still 100% hard outclassed by other things. Sometimes it's harder to define what fits in the middling tiers, so it's good to get that ironed out, I suppose. Would it help if I added tier qualifications/descriptions to the OP?
  13. I also like to pretend that Owain's FE-referencing attack names correspond to specific proc skills. - Binding Blade = Luna - Radiant Dawn = Sol - Sacred Stones = Astra - Shadow Dragon = Vengeance - Skyward Shield = Aegis
  14. Oh wow. And here I was thinking the magic thing was a significant advantage given that most things are weaker to it. Allright, sounds fine to me. Also, I'm bumping Snipers back up to B, since I generally see more people defending it than arguing against it. - Hero: B-rank -> A-rank - Sniper: Limbo -> B-rank - Paladin: (untiered) -> C-rank - Wyvern Lord: (untiered) -> C-rank - Swordmaster: (untiered) -> C/D Limbo - General: (untiered) -> D-rank - Griffon Rider: (untiered) -> D-rank What are y'all's thoughts on Warrior and Bow Knight in C/D Limbo? EDIT: With Great Lord and Great Knight remaining untiered, I'll go ahead and tier the GL with Paladin since they're functionally quite similar, and Great Knight in D-tier for low movement and multiple weaknesses. - Great Lord: (untiered) -> C-rank - Great Knight: (untiered) -> D-rank
  15. Even though Manaketes all have the same character model in Awakening, I like to think that the leafy sea dragon-esque bubble-breathing design is a never-before-seen species of Water Dragon that just Nowi and any of her children are (Tiki being a fluffy/feathery Divine Dragon like in her other appearances).
  16. Does the difference in skill make Heroes significantly better than Dreadfighters? If not, I'm thinking probably B-rank for both. Thoughts?
  17. I never said streetpass wasn't a factor. Should I clarify that in the OP? The postgame tiers were for both DLC challenge maps and streetpass stuff.
  18. But again, you're overlooking the fact that Warriors/Assassins/any other bow unit other than snipers can't utilize Longbows / the Double Bow to prevent counterattacks. If the flier in question has VV, then other bow units are at a distinct disadvantage, no? Besides, all Bow units are unable to counterattack after killing something with a bow, unless they have Galeforce to switch to a partner unit or different weapon. That was one weakness of the Sniper you pointed out that applies to the others as well, and the Sniper is almost as capable of rectifying it as the others simply via Galeforce and Pair up.
  19. I was assuming that the general use is to have a Galeforce Sniper paired with a VV tank or something that you can switch with after sniping somebody. (Also, some can get Counter to punish things that attack them close-range, but I don't know how effective that's considered to be.) There's also that bows aren't affected by the weapon triangle, and preventing an enemy counterattack is pretty good if you have the activatable abilities to secure a kill; presumably, it can be used to counter the VV strategy and stuff. But, I'm just speaking out of theory here, I haven't actually done any competitive stuff. Squeaky wheel gets the grease, then. - Sniper: B rank -> Limbo (B/C) I'm not dropping it all the way to C unless we get enough call for it. PS: Gonna try to keep out of the discussions from now on, especially since I really don't know what I'm talking about... I'll try to stick to being the mediator and thread custodian instead.
  20. You pretty much hit the nail on the head. General consensus is that that's their niche, and it's worth using them for. I've heard enough people defending it to warrant it going in B, but if you want to make a case for C, I'm all ears. Sounds good to me. I knew Heroes were pretty good but wasn't sure where to put them, and I've actually heard almost nothing at all about Assassins. I'll put Warrior and BK in Limbo with the Trickster for now. - Hero: (untiered) -> B-rank - Assassin: (untiered) -> B-rank - Warrior: D-rank -> Limbo (C/D) - Bow Knight: D-rank -> Limbo (C/D) - Trickster: Limbo -> D-rank War Monks and Tricksters seem pretty similar; TBH I can't see them functioning much differently than War Monks beyond their skill set. EDIT: I'm gonna go ahead and add the following in as well: - Grandmaster: (untiered) -> C-rank bcuz they're pretty much same as Dark Knights, right? - Dreadfighter: (untiered) -> B-rank) - Bride: (untiered) -> B-rank) Still untiered: Greatlord, Paladin, Great Knight, General, Swordmaster, Wyvern Lord, Griffon Rider
  21. Jesus christ I can't believe how long the grinding VS abuse discussion went on. Just move on, you guys, seriously. I would like to know what is/are a good class/some good classes for Gaius!Noire. I know Sniper is pretty unimaginative, but she gets Pass and Counter from Gaius at least, for what that's worth. Is it better to go the Magic route with her, like a pegasus-class or something? BK's bowbreaker would work pretty well for that.
  22. So Trickster is basically a worse Bride-- especially if the Bride gets the Trickster's skills that make it relevant. Incidentally, Acrobat DOES seem like a decent support ability, especially when paired with Deliverer. EDIT: Are any classes outside of Villager and Taguel considered to be complete garbage-tier? I'm assuming practically everyone else is at least sort of usable (IE, D-tier).
  23. I'm hearing Dark Knights and Tricksters for ~C-Rank. Any objections? EDIT: I'm gonna go ahead and add the following to the list based on my general impressions: - Falcoknight: (untiered) -> A-rank - Darkflier: (untiered) -> A-rank - Valkyrie: (untiered) -> A-rank - Dancer (untiered) -> A-rank - Berserker: (untiered) -> B-rank - Sniper: (untiered) -> B-rank - Dark Knight: (untiered) -> C-rank - Sorcerer (untiered) -> C-rank - Manakete (untiered) -> C-rank - Trickster: (untiered) -> Limbo between C and D - Warrior (untiered) -> D-rank - War Monk: (untiered) -> D-rank - Bow Knight: (untiered) -> D-rank I'd like to get some more discussion on the Trickster before we definitively tier it. Feel free to discuss any changes/additions to my choices. I'm trying to be impartial here, but again, I'm not the most knowledgeable on the subject.
  24. HBD, Yarne! Have a Kneader and massage some of those stressed-out muskles.
