  1. Is this what you'd call showing her butt...? I mean, I guess it's pointing out towards us? But... it's not like it's super prominently featured or anything... I dunno, I agree with the spirit of what you guys are saying (that it's not necessary to sexualize FE characters), but I don't think it really applies to Tiki, personally. The guys in the chat back me up on this one. Anyway, I don't want to devolve into a huge discourse on the official Awakening art, so I'll agree to disagree if you guys will. n00srac, they don't fill you in much on Maribelle's better qualities through the in-game script, you sort of need to dig through her supports to find them. One is her first support with Ricken, where she uplifts Rick for being bold and brave enough to do the right thing, and says that she considers him and his family equals to hers even though Rick's fam is basically broke and hers is still wealthy. She values equality and stuff, it's pretty legit.
  2. ...Nowi seriously can't swim? Ahh, I feel like I've heard that somewhere before, but I can't recall where. That's funny, though. Yeah, I agree with what people (Loki in particular) are saying about how Tharja's relationship with Noire should have been written better. The only possible explanation I can think of for her behavior is the saying that abusive mothers were probably abused as a child themselves, which would explain a lot about Tharja's behavior, but it's little more than a fan-theory (it's pretty weak that they didn't explain stuff like that better). Well, I can't help but like them both ~__~ *shrug* One thing I like about Chrom is his occasional snark that I feel like a lot of the other Lords didn't have. He's pretty serious business most of the time, a lot like pretty much every lord ever, but it's fun when he mutters sasses under his breath or is blatantly thick-skulled about women in the wash tent and whatnot. Maybe I'm a little biased here, so I'll request that other people back me up if I'm not spouting total BS on this. I don't think Tiki was THAT bad, or really sexualized that much; the in-game portrait was really the only thing that did it, it's not like her official art tried to sexualize her or anything (like... *ahem* Tharja). I dunno, it's hard to explain, but she just doesn't seem like a sexualized character. Nothing about the way she acts or says ever implies anything sexual (*looks at Tharja again*). I guess they did go a bit overboard with the portrait, but it's not like they made her... erm... assets huge or anything. Either way, I question that that's sufficient reason to hate her, y'know? But yeah, she is pretty adorable in Shadow Dragon and such. (TBH I almost think I could make a case for her SD official art being more sexualized than her official art in awakening, although I doubt many if any would agree...)
  3. THANK you! :3 I'm glad someone else can see Tharja's good qualities. OMG, Maribelle. That gal has to be the one who had the biggest turnaround for me. I HATED Maribelle when I first encountered her, just... everything about her-- her looks, her attitude, everything. But you know? She actually turns out to be quite the stand-up gal, and an astoundingly brave and gutsy person. I still don't find her attractive in the least, but she's A-OK in my book, haha. Eeee, Tiki~ >w< Itotallyagree...
  4. Airship canon will recommend you marry second gen, though as for who, I couldn't guess myself. Pairing with a non-Galeforce dude might be good, but don't quote me on that. I hear most people advise pairing Panne with Frederick, since Yarne doesn't really care about getting passed much, he mostly has a good amount of stuff work with from Panne, apparently; then it's probably Cordelia x Stahl and Cherche x Gregor. People will probably recommend that you change a few of your pairings, like Nowi x Donnel, but I'll leave that to someone else.
  5. Meh, it never much seemed like the right type of song for Smash to me. The K64 boss theme was so energetic and intense that I feel it works way better than a lot of those 'final boss' themes... I didn't like Marx either TBH, but Drawcia would be a good one. In any case, I was personally sad not to hear K64 Boss theme in Brawl's Boss Theme Medley, but I think it also has enough length to it that it could be its own song as well. *shrug* Oh well, either way. PS I think Sakurai picked a crappy song from Kirby 64 because he didn't work on that one lol.... ~___~; Ooh, another really good final boss theme I like is Nightmare's Theme from Kirby's Dreamland/Nightmare in Dreamland. Give it some kind of techno or orchestral mix, and it'd be bloody fantastic. I agree with you, but I haven't played many DK games so I don't know any, if at all, of the good tracks from it.... .w.' Except the DK Rap of course~
  6. Heh, Owain is probably my favorite gen 2 character for just those reasons. I'm pretty sure he's also supposed to be like a parody of like the standard hot-blooded shonen archetype, which I find absolutely hilarious. He's just wonderfully Quixotic most of the time, hah. No worries, I realize it wasn't that clear before... :3 I'm also guilty of a quip or two about Anna myself before that point, so let's just be positive from now on. ^.^;
  7. Blazing Sword. /thread No but in all seriousness, Rollertoaster pretty much hit the nail on the head. I h'ain't played FE7 in a while, so I don't know that I could analyze what exactly makes it so balanced, but I just know that it is. I just... know.
  8. Holy shit, these are great. I'm gonna watch the FUCK out of you now.
  9. I also really like the black and green color scheme of neutral-oriented Dark Knights. It'd totally do that if it were possible. I'm a little sad that Awakening didn't have like a customization setting for picking a color that you could set as the color scheme of all your outfits. *shrug* Also, I like being a Grandmaster. When I give GM MU Eliwood's Blade he looks like some kind of classy sea admiral, hahaha. As far as things that bug me, basically any impractical sexualization of the female versions of certain outfits. Wyvern ladies, fem Dark Mages, and fem GKs all wear less armor and/or have skin showing in place of armor on the guys. In particular I notice that they typically have their thighs bare, which seems EXCEEDINGLY impractical for anyone with a mount. I really don't want to drill them on the character design too much, because I like that they were bold enough to tread new territory (like the mages, making them look like typical FF black mages...?) ...in most respects... It's a bit hit or miss, but I like that they didn't pull the New Super Mario crap of just bringing back old stuff exactly the way we remember it. Actual effort went into the designs, and I appreciate that.
  10. Those are both pretty good. I'm sure it wasn't malicious on his part though, there's a lot of shit from the Fire Emblem series, and he basically has to leave most of it out since FE historically isn't super popular. I wouldn't actually expect to see anything too recent in the next Smash, though, since it's already the better part of the way through its development, you know? At this point in time all the assets of the game are probably ready on a basic level, and Sakurai is just letting the info slowly trickle out. Because of how long the development process takes, I wouldn't expect to see stuff from any games that also came out around the time that Smash 3U comes out. Still, as long as they don't remix it, I suppose just adding music tracks in isn't so difficult.
  11. Well either way it's an excessively small nitpick in an otherwise-solid fan theory.
  12. *whispers* Simon replacing ZSS may or may not have been a completely desired side effect of his hypothetical inclusion... >3> Same with Balloon Fighter & Jigglypuff but Villager has a BF move so that's not happening Naui, you have a lot of great song choices there. Here are a few little pickies of my own: Kirby: Pokemon: Megaman: TBH I have a feeling there won't be much from the MMX series, though hopefully it gets a little representation. Cannonball is indeed really cool but I doubt we'll see much from the Battle Network / Zero / other MM spinoff series... Sakurai DOES want to represent the classic NES Megaman here, and spinoff games rarely get much attention in SSB outside of the Mario series. Metroid: I've also heard of one from F-Zero called Like a Snake that was originally supposed to play on Port Town Aero Dive that's pretty good.
  13. The editing and humor in this video was all right. Better than I expected, at least, unlike the reasoning, sadly... I guess that's why this is a wishlist and not a prediction, though. - Waluigi: Wario's playable and he isn't because Wario has had innumerable more of his OWN games that he actually starred in and was a playable character in. Waluigi has only ever been playable in the minigame get-togethers (Party/Kart/Sports etc). That Waluigi mod is pretty cool and he looks like he's got some unique moves, but there's a reason why he's considered not significant enough to get in. - Lucina: Hell, no objections here. I'm all for increasing the vaj-to-peen ratio of SSB, and Lucina and Chrom are basically functionally identical. The only problem I can think of with Lucina is that she dresses like Marth, so having Chrom instead is more likely due to his more distinct look. I wouldn't mind being wrong, though! - T Ganon: Nehhhh. Redundant with normal Ganondorf especially considering they're the same guy (unlike Link / Toon Link, the latter of whom isn't even a descendant of OoT Link like the other Links are said to be) The problem with including Agnes and Geno in this list is that it violates the one rule that was established for this countdown. Square is way too tightfisted with their IPs to allow such a thing. Why do you think Geno's been discluded this long? Sorry internet, he's not happening. Blame Squeenix. There are some pretty good suggestions in the rest of this thread, though. Although some of them are pretty bad silly. I guess mine (discounting confirmed/returning/impossible characters) would be: 1) Ridley (probably deconfirmed as a stage hazard in Pyrosphere) 2) Chrom or Lucina (as good as confirmed given the Arena Ferox stage) 3) Saki Amiyama / Isa or whoever from Sin & Punishment 4) Ray 01 / Custom Robo 5) Balloon Fighter (effectively deconfirmed by the fact that Villager has a Balloon Fighter move) Honorable mentions: - King K. Rool - Isaac from Golden Sun - Shulk from Xenoblade - Takamaru from what was his game called again? - Chibi Robo (didn't consider him previously, but he's well-known so why not) This is probably my favorite desired-characters-countdown for SSB4 I've seen. It's pointless to speculate on what moves characters would have, and the guy wastes a lot of time on that, but despite that I think his doing so makes a pretty good case for a lot of these guys. I'd never want Ghirahim playable, but he makes a great case for him, for instance. Also, he successfully predicted Megaman and Little Mac lol.
  14. One piece of advice I might offer, though unrelated to the question posed, is to settle down and take it easy, allow yourself to enjoy a playthrough or two before you get TOO serious about the pairings and stuff. If you have at least one extra file available, you can just do a casual playthrough on Normal to feel out the story and pair who you like without worrying about all the inheritance nonsense. That's what I'd recommend, anyway, but it sounds like you're very into the competitive stuff.
  15. Simon is legit pretty cool. I think the deal with the leather is that he's supposed to be like a barbarian or something, but either way, it's not that bad. Simon may not be the most prestigious or powerful of the Belmonts, but he's certainly the most iconic. I'm a fan of this theme for Simon and the Castlevania franchise in general, meself... Castlevania has some very good music. S'it weird that I want Castlevania characters for that reason, hah? Ah, but I digress. Smash series, Brawl in particular has a great soundtrack history as well. Are there any tracks you guys particularly want, from existing or new franchises? I have a huge laundry list of necessary Megaman songs I want.
  16. That's not bad at all, and would explain a lot of the highly biologically-incorrect plot holes that the game's generational system has, yeah. I can buy that.
  17. Er, wait, did I miss something? Why is Simon impossible? Was there a one-3rd-party-character-per-company guest star restriction that I missed somewhere...? If Sakurai DOES decide to put Simon in (which I don't think he will, but for different reasons), I don't think the fact that they're both Konami would affect anything.... unless I missed something.... o___o
  18. My GF picked the tallest (read: bustiest) female character model for her MU, so we pretend that that's why he calls her that. >3> (As for MaMU your guess is as good as mine I mean jeez)
  19. Probably my personal biased favorite pick for 3rd party characters who will definitely NOT get in would be Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden (and we have those dumb Xbox reboot games / Dead or Alive series to thank for that...). On a more nonbiased level I'd want to see Simon Belmont. Castlevania is definitely a name that people associate with retro Nintendo. (However I don't think his chances are too good either seeing as most CV games are on Xbox/PS at the moment)
  20. Whether or not Sakurai can make a moveset for Pacman has nothing to do with it; he's shown that he can easily make just about anybody work. I just don't think that Pacman's likelihood of appearing is anywhere in the considerable range. He's one of the most iconic characters in video games, true, but SSB isn't about the most iconic characters in video game history-- it's about the most iconic characters in Nintendo's history. Pacman's been on Nintendo consoles before, but that doesn't necessarily make him relevant to them. Hell, even Pacman's only crossover with Nintendo characters-- his guest appearance on Mario Kart-- was an arcade-only deal. However, I will admit that there were more Pacman appearances on Nintendo systems than I remembered, so maybe his chances aren't so complete nil as I thought before. Still, I highly, highly doubt it. (As for a source on why PCs have to be primarily console characters, it's pretty self-evident by looking at the entire playable cast of any/all Smash games. A few like Mario and such started out on arcades, and some have had modern arcade appearances like Pokemon and F-zero, but remain primarily known for their console releases.)
  21. (EDIT: Yay for no defensive Fred waifu murder .w. Those are some good points though, I didn't really think about that.) I'd like to take this opportunity to remind everyone to check your negativity at the door. I thought that was apparent from the OP, but I guess I need to make it even more obvious, so I'll make mention of it there. I can't argue with you about the fanservice thing, and in fact I'd rather that wasn't the case, but it's not true at all that she has no character. And as to her looks, well... that's subjective. Personally, I think goth girls are hot. You could toss Tharja into a set of the super-concealing GBA Druid robes and I'd still find her sexy. Gaius has fantastic dialogue, probably some of the best in the game. It's impossible not to love that smarmy sunnovabitch. (He seems like the type who'd find goth girls hot too, behehehehe)
  22. Again, Pac-man has no reason to be included. Again, just because Bandai/Namco is co-developing it doesn't necessarily mean one of their characters will be in. If we WERE going to get a Namco character, I'd put my money on Lloyd from Tales of Symphonia since he's kind of a cult fan-favorite, but on the other hand he's not so well known outside of the Tales fanbase, so I don't know how good his chances actually are. (also I don't know how many Tales games were on Nintendo consoles or how important they're considered to be to Nintendo's history; I see it as more of a PS franchise myself) Personally, I'm pretty skeptical that we'll see another 3rd party character outside of MM / Snake / Sonic. It really seems like Sakurai only wants to include 3rd party characters if they're particularly significant; he won't add them just for the sake of adding them due to the complications with getting the rights to these characters. (Hell, do you have any idea how much of a hassle it must be to compile the rights for all the Nintendo IPs in the game in the first place? I'm sure there's a reason certain games are never really mentioned in trophies and such, like SMRPG for instance.)
  23. Shadowgift / Waste / Mire is/are a fun gimmick if you're into that sort of thing (which I totally am LOL). But yeah, for practical purposes it's not great unless you can get some kind of acc boost skills on there as well. /has contributed basically nothing with this post OTL
  24. Emerald Ink, Faye, please remember that this is about the characters that you DO like. There's another topic to discuss characters you don't, right? ~3~ Yeah, Kellam's backstory makes him pretty interesting as well. For me, Frederick is fun just because of how ridiculous he can be with the tidying up and such. I hate to say it, but I feel like he's almost better as a joke character most of the time. /)w(\ (which believe me, I mean in the best possible way). I also love how Frederick is the absolute hero of anyone whose first FE game is Awakening, haha. plzdon'tkillmeanacybele
  25. Johnnyboy, I'm havin' a bit trouble comprehending what you're asking (I'm unfortunately a bit dyslexic when it comes to reading incorrect spelling/grammar but I'm trying here). Are there any pairs that you're particularly attached to, or are you REALLY looking to optimize your stuff the best possible? Hair colors and stuff are subjective and mainly up to you, so we're probably better off just helping you with things that you're not as sure about unless you want to go for like the best possible units for challenge DLC maps and such.
