  1. Notwithstanding the terribleness of Rock Smash in the actual Pokemon games, it's a very strong move in SSB. Besides, I have a very sentimental attachment to that move. Craig, great call on Charizard. Truthfully I kind of expected it too, but I didn't say it so I can't claim credit for it lol. ...Although, I'm not sure why you thought his Mega Evolution would be anything but a Final Smash. :0 That's kind of a weird guess/preference.
  2. Hehehehehe looks like I was way wrong on the Gen 6 Pokemon thing, huh? Y'know, I am absolutely okay with that. So... I notice I'm down to like 70 points or something. I still don't really care about winning or anything, but I'm legitimately a little confused as to how I lost points. Can someone explain that to me? Also, with Greninja's reveal I'm suddenly not feeling so strong about Takamaru as a possibility. (Two ninjas is good but three...?) I can change my prediction on him, right? (how does changing guesses work again...?) Also also, I say give Knight his points. He had the guts and the uncanny foresight to somehow guess Greninja; IMO that kind of crazy luck deserves SOME kind of prize, haha.
  3. Godammit. I just typed a f#$%ton of stuff after finally getting unbanned for the two days since the NDD came out... sigh... time to retype some shit... Allright f#$% the trivial reaction stuff I was doing; I loved everything, end of story. Moving on. ((also WTF how did you guys get so off-topic is this really what two days does to y'all?)) - I don't remember who it was that called the 3-Pikmin thing for Olimar, but I remembered instantly that someone on SF called it when I watched the Direct. Great call, whoever that was. - Anacybele, condolences on Keldeo being a Pokeballmon. At least he looks pretty cool, right....? - I notice that the Steel Diver item and Sheik's Clay Bomb attack seem to highly resemble Snake's Nikita missile (albeit without homing) and Grenade attacks respectively. Is this a hint that Snake might not be coming back...? I suspected it a bit before, but now my suspicions are back in full. - Did anyone catch the spiny blue koopa shell in one of the shots with Mario and Sonic fighting on the Halberd? I noticed that wasn't mentioned when Sakurai went over items, thought that might be interesting to note. Should be an interesting item. - A lot of people are saying Mega Lucario won't be Luke's final smash because he's never glowing at any point when he's shown onscreen... I don't think this is the case; Wario-man and Giga Bowser never glowed post-transformation, so he's probably sill the FS. Also, his texture looks pretty unpolished, so Mega Lucario is probably still in the works as far as graphics go. - Custom Movesets: First of all super cool. This has probably been pointed out already, but did anyone notice that only Special moves seem to be modifiable with this feature? That seems like a good balancing feature even if it's not allowed online. It's good to keep it in reasonable boundaries, eh. Can't wait to mess around with that feature. - Smash Run looks insanely fun. I loved City Trial in Kirby's Air Ride so I'm totally down wit dat And lastly, the subject of my greatest interest: Ridley. I don't know if you guys know this, but I'm actually a huge Ridley fan and was infamous for it on AllisBrawl.com for a while during the height of that site's popularity. Mostly I've been shutting up about it because of him being a stage hazard (which we knew already), but... there are some odd developments surrounding him that continue to baffle me. I detailed my theories and observations on this post on my tumblr. Easily the weirdest thing about what we're seeing about Ridley is the fact that Sakurai continues to dance around the obvious. Why? What's he trying to hide? Obviously it IS Ridley, there's no one else it could be-- you can even freeze the video at a certain point to see almost the full length of his Other M blade-tail in the shot. Is he just trying to keep people that don't know Metroid in the dark...? It's very strange. Also: LASER STRIPPER HEELS WAT That is all EDIT: Oh yeah Greninja was a thing too huh lol (fun fact: I actually literally screamed with delight) I can't even hold all these mains gack
  4. Asking for ROMs, Banny? Really? Did you even READ the rules or are you JUST THAT STUPID jeez it's no wonder they call you BANryu

    1. Randoman

      Randoman

Don't be too hard on yourself. It's an easy mistake, and I'm really glad you did a lot of regular forum posting first so the SF staff wouldn't give you an insta-ban like they do for people whose first post is asking for a ROM.

  5. Exactly what the title says. My waifu tried downloading this one from a place called CoolROM and it was making her comp freeze; she had one before on an older comp but can't remember which one it was. Are there any good reliable ROMs that you guys can recommend? English version please.
  6. On my first playthrough of FE7 I had trouble beating Kenneth's chapter (whichever number it was)... I only got through it by sacrificing my main man, Canas, to the hordes of (at the time seeemingly) endless foes. @~@ He was one of my strongest only good units then, too. I've always regretted that one. I think my all-time biggest blunder, though, was leaving all three of my lords underlevelled for the final boss in that playthrough. Needless to say, the final level was impossible for me with them all as weak as they were, and I completely started over. I improved a lot after that...
  7. Of all the franchises that need reps, I think Kirby is pretty low on the list, if not the bottom. Kirbs D3 and MK are just about everybody that a non-greedy Kirby fan could ask for from the series *cough* I don't think Waddle Dee (any of them) will be in for the same reason(s) that Toad won't be playable. Although, it'd be neat to see characters like Prince Fluff or Magolor as Assist Trophies. I always thought Kracko would have been a great boss in Brawl's SSE too (Cloudworld, hello), though I know we're not likely to get anything like that this time around lol.
  8. I'd say it's possible that Yoshi's moveset may be getting some kind of overhaul. I have no doubt that Yoshi's being saved for the release of Yoshi's New Island as advertising, but that's the only other reason I can think of to hold him back. (Then again, Bowser got overhauled and he was revealed right away, so maybe the opposite is true-- almost nothing is new about him, thus, no real reason to reveal him right away? *shrug*) Frankly, I'm tempted to break this just so you WILL make that your signature, behehehehehe~ EDIT: Derpril fools. EDIT: I've noticed something odd about Megaman. It seems like his standard jump is unusually high-- like, rivalling or doubling Brawl Falco's jump height, it almost seems like. As I wondered why that is, it occurred to me-- (and I've checked as many of the vids as I could find for footage to support this) Megaman doesn't ever seem to double-jump in any of the videos he's in. As such, I can't help but wonder if Megaman might be the first character not to have a second jump outside of his Up-Special. It's too soon for it to be anything more than a theory at this point, but... I think it's certainly possible. Sakurai has gone to great lengths to preserve Megaman's original game feel already. Nope nevermind he's seen double-jumping in this video at about 4:25 or so. Oh well it was an interesting theory for the all about two minutes it lasted for lol
  9. Dude I love that Luigi's packin' the ol' Poltergust this time around. If not a Down-Special to parallel the Fludd, this is about as good as I could have asked for. As hilarious and silly as Weegie's old FS was, I see this as an improvement. EDIT: BTW does Japan even HAVE April Fool's Day? :0
  10. Not been spending enough time with milady compared to SF, so I'll be less active for a while.

  11. Heh, I HATE Rebena te Ra as a level, but its stage theme is undeniably fantastic, even among the wonderful tunes of the FFCC soundtrack.
  12. Severa usually annoys me when I think about her, but then I actually get into the game and she says something adorable and makes her timid face and I just D'AWWWWWW
  13. I don't think ALL the Plegians were sacrificed to Grima there; there had to be some non-religious, non-Grimleal that were still around. Maybe Chapter 23 is a convenient way of wiping out any Grimleal that'd make trouble for peace and rebuilding after Grima is defeated. *shrug*
  14. I don't let people die. =3= I had enough of that when I let my favorite people die in my first playthrough of FE7 haha. But yeah, fair enough.
  15. My favorite already has a theme. ~3~ It's delightful. Also yeah, that one is pretty spot on for Kellam haha. As for other characters, this one always reminds me of Lyn, and to lesser extents this one of Eliwood and this one of Hector. Apart from them? Hmm, what kind of theme would Canas have...? This is about all I can imagine for him. Maybe it's too epic for a Druid what died in a snowstorm with his wife, but eh. The main reason Canas is interesting to me is the whole idea of Dark or 'elder black' magic in the first place, so I guess a scholar's grappling with that is what this evokes for me. *shrug* (On that note it probably works for any given Dark Mage, so Knoll and Etzel and such are probably interchangeable for this one.
  16. I always wondered that, too. My guess is that 1) the Avatar character attempts to take the throne and lead Plegia, since he/she is technically the next heir for Plegia's crown, or 2) Gangrel attempts to give it another shot (though his ending apparently refutes that, and the citizenry probably wouldn't remember him too fondly anyway). Either way, I like to think that Chrom learned something from all this and thought to follow Emmeryn's example of sowing relations of peace between the nations by having Ylisse assist in helping Plegia rebuild. But who can say, really?
  17. Sadly I have to agree, it was one of the main reasons I decided not to marry her on my first playthrough as well. Totally unromantic (if amusing) support, though Cherche is still an awesome character and one of my favorites.
  18. I've heard rumors that Bubbles from Clu Clu Land, Balloon Fighter, and even Banjo & Kazooie were being considered as playable fighters in the Smash roster, though B&K is most likely a rumor since they're 3rd party. (Even so, how awesome would that have been? Banjo & Kazooie are so iconic for the N64 era and would have had shittons of potential before Rare was bought by Microsoft, making it basically a non-possibility for all time now lol.) As for Fox VS Falcon, I can only imagine that it was because Fox was simply a more iconic, more popular character. Characters like that are naturally bound to be on the main roster, rather than secret characters. Ever notice how a bunch of the new characters in Brawl are mainly starting roster members? I think that's moderate evidence of the principle. As for the Jigglypuff thing, I think you had it pretty solidly; regarding Luigi, I'm inclined to think that it was more for the same reason as Jigglypuff in terms of being easier to work off of since he was a Mario clone, and less due to his popularity. In the later games, his popularity is absolutely the main factor, but I don't think Luigi had much of a popularity situation before Luigi's Mansion gave him a more concrete personality. Either way, I prefer to think that Luigi and Jigglypuff existing as clones in the first game were a clever solution to a lack of budget that would have been needed to add a character like Meowth in. They were certainly well implemented enough, and while no one will question that Luigi undoubtedly belongs in the series at this point, at least Jigglypuff was popular at the time. (As I said in the main SSB4 thread I could argue that Jigglypuff stopped being relevant around the time of Melee if it had any relevance to begin with, but that's a different discussion). Anyway, I'm sure it wasn't out of blatant laziness or anything, it probably just seemed like a clever solution at the time, assuming my hunch is correct. That's probably why there are so many clone characters in Melee as well; the period of development for Melee was a LOT shorter than that of Brawl, so it makes sense that variety would be a bit thin in the cast.
  19. Whoof, lotta replies happened while I was gone. Guess that's what happens when I'm at Legoland all day ~3~ @ Randoman: I think Takamaru would make a great character, and I'm sure he still has a decent shot of getting in. I don't think Balloon Fighter HAD to be relegated to references though, y'know? Balloon Fighter is probably more prominently known than Ice Climber is anyway, but maybe that's just me. Either way, crying over spilt milk and all that, no point, BF will almost certainly not be playable. *shrug* Oh well! (first of all I was joking but I'll assume you knew that lol I actually haven't played much Star Fox myself TBH) But Metroid is SOOOO GOOOOOODD It's not about the 'space stuff', it's about the gameplay and the atmosphere! (...the aesthetic kind, not the space kind) Have you played Smash 64? Because if you have, (or if you remember it), I have a feeling we wouldn't be having this disagreement right now. Whether or not the moves were similar between games, it's pretty blatant that Jiggs was a Kirby clone in the OG SSB; practically all of its non-special moves were very similar if not outright the same, and between 64 and Melee, Kirby is actually the one who had more of his moves changed to be different from Jigglypuff, whose overall feel was changed to the more floaty style we know now to differentiate it. This is all IIRC of course, but if I might be so bold, it seems as though I'm recalling more of it than you if you're really not noticing these differences between the two games. o___o _ _ _ _ _ _ I agree with KingDD's suggestions as well, they're pretty solid ideas. Regarding Pikachu's Thunder Jolt, I believe it's actually a reference to the original Pikachu Pokemon card from waaayyyyy back in the day. Those of you that also collected the cards may recall that Pikachu's attack on the card was Thunder Jolt. As far as in-game attacks go, its next closest analogue is probably indeed Thundershock. We HAVE seen that the playable Pokemon characters tend to have more than 4 standard attacks though, of course. Headbutt was already mentioned for Pikachu, and then there's attacks like the various electric-melee moves it uses, which I suppose could be interpreted as Thundershock or maybe variations on Wild Charge or something. Similarly, Charizard has Wing Attack for its up-tilt/up-smash, probably Earthquake as its D-smash, and Bite for its D-tilt, while Ivysaur's Dash attack looks like Take Down/Tackle/etc, and its U-smash/U-air/D-air resemble what I can only imagine must be Seed Bomb. So yeah, the Pokemon having more than 4 moves is nothing new/not much of a surprise. It's funny how eager you guys are for a new character reveal LOL. I'm sure there'll be another one soon, just be patient eh?
  20. I'd wager that Lon'qu's parents were just emigrants from Chon'sin to Ferox if I had to guess. They're obviously of Chon'sinean descent, but it's entirely possible that they were born in Ferox and such. As for Ricken, there's evidence that he isn't in fact the youngest in the army; in Lissa's supports with Donnel she mentions that he's the youngest one in the army, just under her. Also, Ricken is stated to 'look and act like a child', implying that he's actually older despite his immature appearance. EDIT: Allright so I have a dumb question. How is Cherche's name supposed to be pronounced? Since the romanization of her Japanese name is 'Serge', I'm guessing that it's similarly pronounced as like a French thing, but really I have no idea. Is there any way to know, even?
  21. Ohmigosh you're totally right. .__. I'm so sorry, I didn't even think about that. /)~~~(\ Nonono, your friend is absolutely right and please thank her for calling me out on that for me. I'm with her, stuff like that without permission is not cool, I agree. Personally, if I'm being completely honest, I don't think something like this is TOO harmful if you're crediting someone, but as an artist myself (bit of a stretch to call myself that though lol) I can imagine how annoying (at the very least) it'd be for something like that to happen. Personally, I actually do stuff like that a lot but I NEVER post it publicly or anything of the sort if I know it's someone's personal art. .__. EDIT: That green Ridley picture I posted was someone's art... .__. I just don't know whose... SHIT
  22. I'm in stitches over here about the 'Radiant Hobo' thing.
  23. Heh, good ol' Andross. For shame, Anacybele, so uncultured~ >w> Not in Melee or Brawl, sure, but in the original game, they were VERRRRY similar. (True to form, it was basically just a worse Kirby, same as how it's basically just a worse Clefairy in the Pokemon games. >3>) As I said, Jigglypuff has diverged a lot from its roots as a clone, but that IS how it started off.
  24. So Staffbots are no good to double as Rally-bots? Hmm. Interesting. Is there anyone in particular who's recommended as a Rallybot? Ladies like the regular Pegasi class-sets from gen 1 maybe?
