  1. I doubt they would make the same mistake twice with leaking characters via sprites on a special edition box, awesome as it would be to have these characters. I wouldn't want them leaked anyway. I want to be surprised by official confirmations. I wish leakers would understand that. That every single amiibo is compatible is no surprise at all. T'was the same case with Hyrule Warriors, giving materials and money while series-related give something more unique like weapons. If Fire Emblem amiibo unlock the respective characters, they should be unlockable alternatively in the game itself. By the way... Does anyone else feel the official art used for Chrom and Tiki amiibo are just placeholders? I'm guessing they will change it to match their already-nigh-idential Warriors artwork after Tiki is revealed. Otherwise it seems a little weird to me to see Tiki's Shadow Dragon artwork not matching up with her amiibo (same with Chrom's. I can tell it's his Awakening art, but at least the figure's in the same pose.)
  2. Ah. Thank goodness, something to tide us over before TGS. Any new FE Warriors info will slake thine thirst. 45 is a pretty good length. But there have been longer directs in the past, haven't there? If rarely.
  3. Well well, so the OC twins won't be wielding just swords it seems. What was that about "too many swords, but the OC's have swords anyway"? Now I laugh in your faces. X) HAHAHAHAHAHAAA! *ahem* *regains posture* That said, the reason for making the OC's start with swords being the WT was sort of dumb, I won't deny it. Although we still don't know what weapon Darrius/Darios will use or if he's even playable. They can save him for release for all I'm concerned. I like the concept of History Mode. It's like a SoV dungeon in reverse; start on a traditional 2D grid, then when fighting enemies, switch to 3D and engage in Warriors-style combat. All the more hilarious given the way dungeons are coded in SoV, as demonstrated in Vincent's "Out of Bounds" videos. With this, I think we finally have most if not all the obvious character choices out of the way. Seeing as this is release month, they have to show more Shadow Dragon characters sometime. Hopefully they throw some our way before TGS.
  4. That was just....epic. Don't think we've had a live action FE commercial since Genealogy (not counting the operas or FE7's memetic US commercial). Improvements a hundred fold. If I had one little gripe, it's that while we see Ike showing up as BK kills Greil, Lucina fighting the assassin that slices her mask in half, and Lyn walking in the winds across the plains (hehe...); all Roy does is walk towards a cliff as we see the shadows of two wyvern riders circling him overhead. Oh it does look awesome, don't get me wrong, but if they showed a past fight for Ike and Lucina (I understand why Lyn didn't get one), then why didn't they like... show Roy fighting Zephiel? I'd love to see that battle reenacted, and not just with sprites.
  5. Pretty nice so far. Pics and trailers are there. I still crack up over Xander's delivery of "We must trust each other!". One curious thing to note: I'm very happy that single-system multiplayer (and potentially co-op) is 100% confirmed. But would we actually need a Pro Controller/a second pair of Joy Cons, or can we just split one pair of Joy Cons? I would presume the latter is possible since the Wii U version of Hyrule Warriors could be played with the Wii Remote + Nunchuck, and a single Joy Con could more or less be considered a hybrid of the two. And if it's not possible, then shouldn't it say that "Addional controllers are required"? Guess Nintendo was always funny with how they phrase things.
  6. Well yes, but...I can tell you that on my 3DS I always see the Spotpass notification icon over the Miiverse icon, and I've never understood why it would do that if it doesn't use Spotpass. Unless my system is just screwy or something...
  7. It doesn't surprise me too much that Miiverse is shutting down, given its recent state. Trolls, hacked screenshots, supposedly users reporting genuine troublemakers only to receive warnings themselves or even be banned*, complaints to this day about the 2015 redesign**, the sudden emergence of "In-game" sections in communities that never had them that users could exploit to post screenshots from other games (seriously, wth was up with that? And why did Nintendo never try to fix it?). Hate to say all of that probably played a part in this decision. That, and I have often, and still, randomly get an error on my 3DS when changing pages or posting (thankfully the post always went through) and I have to either close Miiverse or get booted back to the top menu. I don't know if it's because my 3DS is nearly as old as Miiverse itself, or if Nintendo wasn't doing proper maintenance (not likely, as I occasionally needed to perform a system update before it let me access Miiverse again). *If this was true, then I really have to question Nintendo's admin practices for Miiverse. I was actually hesitant to report troublemakers because of this; I just blocked them instead, but you could still tell if they posted. I wish blocking would've made them outright invisible to the user. **The redesign didn't affect me at all, since I don't post tons upon tons of posts everyday. Now please don't take this the wrong way, but I feel like myself and so few other people used Miiverse the way it was intended. For on-the-fly help, spur-of-the-moment commentary, drawing, and small-scale discussions. Imho Miiverse was never meant to be a full-blooded forum or social service (I fully supported the redesign because I felt it was done to emphasize this). I tried to tell people not to treat it like such so they wouldn't become obsessed or dependent on it. But nope, I've seen several users on Miiverse act as though their life is over because Miiverse was the only social service they've ever used; one even considered getting rid of their Wii U. I can understand if the majority of those are kids who've only used Miiverse; but surely, surely they'd at least already know about Facebook, Twitter, and other social sites--if not any dedicated forums like our very own Forest--especially since just about every kid this generation has a smartphone. That's why I only used Miiverse a little bit every day if I felt like it. It was a good way to start the morning before getting on with my day. After a good ~4 years (Miiverse was added to the 3DS in winter 2013. I didn't get a Wii U till later), it was fun while it lasted. But we can't dwell on the past. We must move forward to the future, to bigger and better things. Miiverse (2012-2017), Rest in Pii-ce. *cough* sorry... One last thing, though. in that GameXplain video, they mention that the Miiverse icon will still remain on the system menu. W-why? Why not just remove it like they did with the Nintendo TVii icon? They should at least darken it or grey it out so it's easily indicated that it will no longer function. If nothing else, at least I won't ever have to see the blue Spotpass icon over it on the 3DS ever again. It showed up even when there was no reason to, which became a personal pet peeve.
  8. I don't. I told you I knew it would be redundant. Did the second suggestion at least sound decent? I wanted to throw the ideas out there, even if they were redundant and have little chance of happening. Don't worry, I'm not setting myself up for disappointment. I know what I can expect from this trend of reveals. I'm hyping myself up for the game itself, not the roster within, even if said roster is not preferable to me. The mere existence of this game suffices. And if there's still doubt on the possibilities, well let's be real. How many of you thought there was absolutely no way someone like Bayonetta would be added to Smash before she was revealed? Even with the ballot in mind? I was one of them. I thought, Pfff no, no way Nintendo would put a highly sexy, handgun-toting, F-bomb dropping lady in Smash Bros even if they tone her down. Lo and behold, Bayonetta is in Smash. Sakurai fed me my words with a spoon. If that's any indication, anything is possible.
  9. October 20th in NA as well? Ngh... rotten luck. I was hoping the NA release would be a little sooner. Can't throw us a bone, can they...? Well I suppose the Special Edition is a little bone. After Japan and Europe got an SE announced, I would certainly hope we in North America would get one too. So we've got two more months to go, then. I'll have to try very hard not to watch too much gameplay of the Japanese version after the next month. No one in the current roster really stands out to me in terms of favorites. But that's ok. I always hold on to my hope for Zelgius, even if that chance is 0%. I even still hope for the Morgans. "But Baron, Morgan is pointless when Robin is already in." Yes, you're right. I know it's completely redundant. With that in mind, I thought perhaps they could be: A reverse Robin--as in, use a Sword; be it normal, Levin, or an unlockable selection of "ancient weapons" from Awakening (i.e. Alm's Blade, Seliph's Blade, Roy's Blade, etc.) (because for instance, Male Morgan's official artwork shows him holding Alm's Blade) for regular attacks and combos; while using tomes for Unrivaled Musou Attacks, other specials, and combo finishers. Or... Make Male Morgan a Sorcerer and Female Morgan a Wyvern Lord (with a lance instead of Hauteclere, especially if Minerva shows up), like in The Future Past DLC, for the sake of not being a Robin clone despite being their child. I would really prefer the first option, but I would be happy with the second one if they went with it. It's sketchy and unlikely, but a man can dream. A man can hope. Buuuuut the hope discussion's already run it's course so I'll leave it at that. Too true. The dang irony, the game I've been most hyped for in a very, very long time has some horrible PR, and the complainers that have risen from it have made some of the worst comments I've ever skimmed through. The idiot ball is so colossal, it's horribly degrading to see. There's so many dimwitted people who still complain about the roster (naturally), say they refuse to buy the game because of it (understandable, but really irritating when you've heard it a thousand times) and some who even wish the series had died after Awakening. Hoo boy, that third bunch of people are the worst. They clearly aren't Fire Emblem fans and they're probably mean-spirited gamers in general. Utterly sickening, they are. I've never seen such ridiculous tomfoolery over a freaking game. Oh I'm sure there's been worse, you don't have to tell me that. I know it's not all their fault, but I can only take so much tomfoolery before I blow my casket. So I take it upon myself to avoid comment sections about FEW aside from this here Forest until the game comes out. It's the only way I'll be able to preserve my sanity. And let's hope Zephiel never learns of all the bad people on our planet. He would hit the roof in utter disbelief that our world has even worse filthy humans than Elibe, then proceed to obliterate the whole planet with his war dragons.
  10. Man oh man. Quote Berkut, "DAMN IT ALL!!!" I hate having a crappy phone that can't play FEH. And now I'm gonna miss out on a free 5* CYL Hero. Of which I would've picked Roy.
  11. Well by the Goddess, this was unexpected. Assuming they got permission to use Marth's likeness, that is freaking awesome. I like that this red Marth has gold trim as opposed to the dark brown/black trim in his actual red costumes in Smash. ...Gold-trimmed red Marth costume for next Smash, please? Ehhh......personally I doubt it. She doesn't look that much like Mario. If anything, I think she kinda resembles a recolored Alice from Balloon Kid, sans the bow and cowlick in her hair, and of course the balloon. Now I'll give you that she has a pink shirt to oppose Mario's red one, and a blue skirt with a pair of yellow buttons like those of Mario's blue overalls, but I think it's plenty subtle enough to avoid any sort infringement towards Mario. It's not like Mario owns the overalls look anyway, even if it's a defining part of his appearance. :P ...Now I notice she has Mario's hair, complete with tufts going up and to the right. Maaaaaaybe it's not subtle enough after all...
  12. My physical copies are Blazing Blade, Sacred Stones, Radiant Dawn, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, and Shadows of Valentia. My digital ones are Awakening {because Awakening 3DS; so far I count at least 3 of us have one :) } and Shadow Dragon (no luck finding a physical copy, even when the Wii U VC version finally came out in the US. I won't let Nintendo live that down).
  13. Having grown up with Yu-Gi-Oh!, power of friendship plots don't faze me much. I'm just taking FEW's story as run-of-the-mill. Let's face it, we're here for the gameplay. No sour plot will ever stop beating down hoards of enemies overdramatically from being fun. Also, I'm indifferent to the recent, predictable reveal of Fates characters. Didn't play Fates, not really planning to.
  14. Ngghhhhhh.... I feel ya, man. Every neighbor within hearing range of my house seems to own a dog, and those dogs. Never. Shut. Up. And it goes anywhere from half an hour to a whole hour. The people across from me have puppies (I think), and they whine very often, plus the big one howls whenever paramedics drive by. Along with their damned squawking parrot, they're the most annoying things on the planet imo. And to top it all off, just about none of my neighbors ever shut their dogs up. When they get obnoxious like the one in your vid, not a single owner comes out to shush them or discipline them or anything. My neighborhood is seemingly full of idiots, and I hate dogs because of them. Granted, I've always preferred cats over dogs even when I was little. The worst part is not being able to do a thing to put a stop to it all. I'll cherish the day I move out... And to think all you had to do was stand at the freaking door to get their attention. The moment anyone sets foot on our street, the dogs go ballistic. ...So yeah, I sympathize with you 1000%. I am so glad I'm not alone in this.
  15. Well folks, we've finally got our Sacred Stones banner. And they have chosen: Guess that puts this thread to rest for now.
  16. This is just wishful thinking, but they could do us one better and show another full-on Fire Emblem Direct with FEW as the main focus, like how Heroes got the main focus in January's direct. (Quick wishful prediction: FE6 remake, some info or at least a teaser for FE Switch, then the rest is FEW info). In any case, these little spoonfuls of info just aren't enough anymore to tide us over for the remaining two months. We can only hope a FEW Direct is on it's way. I'd dare say it seems inevitable at this point.
  17. Sword Generals need to be a thing again. Marshals did the weapon tool shed job far better than great knights could. Yes, returneth thine magic of divine light, please. And perhaps we could have classes that mix weapons with the trinity of magic, i.e. Sword + Light, Axe + Anima, etc.
  18. Being as Swordmasters are my second favorite class and red is my favorite color, I always use Edward. And he turned out fantastic every time I used him, pretty much capping his stats. Alondite always goes to him.
  19. *Sees poll* You're making me choose just one? Honestly I'd like all of those characters. But I will vote for Joshua. I imagine a somewhat deep voice for him and quotes about lady luck and *Spoiler* his Jehannan lineage. Now if we have a Magvel banner, I would pick Joshua, Seth, L'Arachel, Moulder da Boulder, and Myrrh. I pretty much expected Valter would be the first GHB for Magvel. Can't wait to hear how the wyvern pedo sounds. Even Narcian would be disgusted by this guy. Wonder what would happen if they got in a fight... X)
  20. I often enjoy what an arranged soundtrack does. Adding new (and sometimes better-fitting) instruments and new verses akin to what a remix would do, sometimes putting a new take on it (like a change in tempo and/or genre). Works especially well for 8-bit, 16-bit, and other retro game soundtracks. (Re)arrangements* are just a joy to listen to. *Say, uh... is there a difference between arranged and rearranged soundtracks?
  21. I long for the day Zelgius come back for one of these, if not both. Where is my Zelgius, Nintendo!? Granted the Black Knight got a Cipher card early on, but still nothing for Zelgius? What gives? If he comes back for Heroes (though BK would probably come first. Watch as he gets the hardest GHB in the whole game XP), I hope his Radiant Dawn VA reprises his voice. For how much crap the Tellius voice acting gets, Zelgius probably had the best voice in Radiant Dawn's FMV's, along with Ranulf and Skrimir.
  22. Good to know. I think I'll have to walk away, though. If I weren't still living with my parents and were more familiar with how to do long-distance transactions, I'd be much more willing. Probably wouldn't be a big deal; I'm an adult, after all. But as much as I want that Roy, I can continue to wait and hope for another restock. I'm sure someone else in this thread will be more willing to buy your extra Roy from you. All the same, I thank you for the offer.
  23. Ooooh..... I'll gladly take it. No charge?
  24. I started off not caring much for the amiibo since at the time [2014] I didn't have a Wii U, and the NFC Adapter for 3DS wouldn't be out for another year (which I still think was really stupid to deprive old 3DS users of amiibo support for so long. I bet there's still people that think they have to have a New 3DS just to use amiibo on it). Then I decided it would be nice to have one or two Fire Emblem amiibo just to have some sort of FE merchandise. I got a Wii U and Smash 4 in summer of 2015 (pretty late, I know, but I don't care) and then I received an Ike amiibo for my birthday. Granted, given the choice among the base roster at the time, I would have preferred Marth. But nonetheless I was overjoyed. Then unexpectedly, I received 5 amiibo for Christmas that year. All common ones though: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Link, and Zelda. Nice to have some common ones alongside my rare Ike. I didn't expect to get any more amiibo--especially Fire Emblem ones--after this, but the following years things started kicking into gear. [2016] I've been on the lookout for a Roy amiibo since it came out in March. Sadly I had no luck and I didn't get any amiibo until my birthday, when I received a Captain Falcon amiibo as well as an NFC Adapter for 3DS. Awesome. On a sort of unrelated note, that summer I went to an anime convention. Knowing that Fire Emblem had greatly grown in popularity since the last convention I went to, I'd hoped to perhaps find some non-amiibo Fire Emblem merchandise. I got me a Marth nendoroid figurine for $40, plus some Fire Emblem pins. Makes me feel better about not finding a Marth amiibo. [2017] My Wii U library was, and kind of still is, on the small side. So a few months ago, in the hopes of hitting two birds with one stone and finding a Roy amiibo I went and got a few more games [Super Mario Maker and Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE). There were several uncommon amiibo at the Gamestop I went to that day. There was Megaman, Sonic, Ness, 30th Anniverary 8-bit Link, Gold Mario(!), and more. Of course what caught my eye were two Robins, so I got one. It worked out even better because I got Codename: S.T.E.A.M. used for a mere $8! I kid you not. I've gone to Gamestop a few times since then, and the crazy thing is I always see at least one or two Robin amiibo every time I've gone since buying my own. Oh, but of course it gets better. When they revealed the Alm and Celica amiibo in the Fire Emblem direct in January, I was ecstatic. Not only for the amiibo themselves, but also that it was possibly the start of a Fire Emblem line of amiibo, which has since come true. I bought Echoes on launch day, which I rarely ever do for a game and never for a system. I searched a few stores for the Alm and Celica amiibo, but unfortunately Gamestop still had them on preorder-only, and I couldn't find them elsewhere. I did, however, find 4 or so Lucina amiibo at Best Buy (seems to be a trend now), so of course I got one. 3 of 4 FE Smash amiibo ain't half-bad. And then...about a month later my sister says she saw the Alm and Celica figures one day. The next day I check Gamestop online and it said it was in stock at one of our nearest stores. So I went, and asked for them at the front desk since they weren't on the racks. They checked storage in the back, and sure enough they came back with one in hand. Dunno if it was their last one, but whatever, I finally got Alm and Celica! And ironically they're my only non-Smash amiibo. I am definitely getting Chrom and Tiki in the coming months. Still on the lookout for Marth and Roy. Don't care as much about Corrin, but I may pick him/her up when they come out in a few days. TL;DR-- In order of obtainment I have Ike, Mario, Luigi, Peach, Link, Zelda, Captain Falcon, Robin, Lucina, Alm & Celica, and Male Corrin. Someday I'll find my buds Marth and Roy... UPDATE: Got Male Corrin yesterday.
