  1. I'm surprised no one has pointed this out, but I'm curious why Seliph is in there. Unless that was supposed to be Marth. I know they are uncannily similar in appearance.
  2. Oh for goodness sake, enough with this ridiculous figures vs cards quarrel. On one hand, I understand full well why Ana prefers an Ike figure over a card. His pose is awesome, and he looks great as a figure. Personally I want a Marth amiibo someday because dang it all, I love his heroic SSB4 pose. A mere card just won't do it for me, as the figure looks much more enticing to me. I lean towards Ana on the printed art vs official art. Yes, an official card is more genuine, but it is still just a card with a picture on it and the amiibo function built into it. And that is perfectly fine. Granted, I might get an actual Marth card too anyway just becuase FE merchandise is so rare outside Japan (and I hate that scalpers take the only FE merch we've ever gotten so far. That had better change soon...). On the other hand, as Jave said, it is good to have the cards as a second option for unlocking amiibo-exclusive content for those people who don't care about the figures and just want to unlock that content, supposedly at a lower price. I'm sorry you don't want amiibo-cards to exist, Ana. But I'm afraid that's too bad; they're gonna exist, and you're going to have to deal with that. Why is it even a big deal, anyway? You have your precious Ike figure, so let people have cards if they want. You don't have to like them, but for your sake I hope you don't shun people just for having cards instead of figures. On the middle ground, you two are thinking way too far ahead about the longevity of amiibo figures and cards. Just stop. It is too soon to tell how long figures will last. You can only speculate. We'll have to wait and see what actually happens. Also, how well you can take care of a figure or card, that is not important in this matter. You both make good arguments on what can happen to them, but I don't think it holds that much weight on deciding which one you're gonna get. Yes, there are people who take exceptional care of their cards, especially rare and unique ones. Given what amiibo cards (will) do, I'm sure many of us will take good care of them. I feel I should give my opinion on the OP topic, so... I would be happy if the amiibo worked just the same as in Codename: S.T.E.A.M.. A random item each day would be nice too, so that covers both the exclusive and the random non-exclusive content.
  3. Of those three, I like prefer Aureola. Nergal got nothin' on that. But honestly, of all the S-rank or otherwise "ultimate" (should've called them legendary) light magic in GBA FE, my absolute favorite is Luce. You're more or less launching a supernova at the enemy. That snazzy 25 base crit certainly helps. Suddenly enemies fading away into oblivion when they die makes sense......
  4. Now you're just spewing nonsense. You can't apply a concept like "games being taken hostage" to something like Fire Emblem, or Mario. It's called console exclusives. And you know full well why Fire Emblem is exclusive to Nintendo systems. It's a second party series made by Intelligent Systems. Who do they work for? Ohh that's right. Nintendo! And unless IS should suddenly decide to go third party and/or be bought out by Nintendo's competitors, you won't be seeing them on any competing systems anytime soon. As far as Serenes is concerned, this is elementary knowledge, so please get your head out of the gutter and see the facts clear in front of you. Now then... I don't mind seeing some minor features that are N3DS exclusive, as long as they're just that. Minor. I want to be able to enjoy the bulk of the game like everyone else on my FE:A Special Edition 3DS. And there ain't no way I'm giving that up for a N3DS, even if they release a FE: If Special Edition system.
  5. ~Sword-wielding generals. Bring. Them. Back. FE10 imo was their best outing. High strength, sword-wielding non-Lord/special classes have always felt like a far cry to me. The only reason I don't make my Avatar a Great Knight is because I prefer to be on foot. ~Ranged swords from FE10 (Wind Edge, Storm Sword, Tempest Blade). Not that it has to be those particular ones. Still, when you have javelins and hand axes and variations thereof, it's nice when swords aren't left out. Two things about them that need to change, though: Don't make characters throw them like they did in Awakening, except maybe the thief classes. Otherwise, make them launch shockwaves or blasts of wind like in FE10. Should the particular ranged swords from FE10 return (and even if they don't), for the love of Naga please buff their hit rates. I know ranged weapons typically have slightly lower hit rate than 1-range ones do, but they were just messed up in FE10. I mean; 60, 50, and 55 hit respectively for the ranged swords. What the heck!? They are swords for goodness sake, they should never have such low hit rates. In Awakening,.Amatsu had 60 hit while Ragnell had 70. For Ragnell, that's not bad given it formerly had 80 hit in its glorious Tellius days. I'd say, don't let'em dip below 70. If this looks like FE10 bias, you should know that Radiant Dawn was my favorite FE game (and still is in the gameplay department) until Awakening came along.
  6. I think we could technically count Alondite (FE9), as it was exclusive to the Black Knight in that game. Yeah, it's functionally and visually identical to Ragnell save for color. I prefer Alondite's white blade over Ragnell's gold.
  7. Kirby's Dream Collection (contains Kirby's Dream Land 3 and Kirby 64, among others): Rated E10+ for Animated Blood. So they did take note of that, at least. I don't mind either way if they started showing a bit of blood. The fight with Navarre and Ogma in the OVA actually had them spilling a few small drops.
  8. I'm not the best at explaining things like this, and I'm probably getting some of it wrong, but... There's some English words that are adopted into the Japanese language (or just happen to sound similar, if not the same), just like vice versa, and as such are kept in romanji letters instead of kanji; such as "for Nintendo 3DS", "F-Zero", "BGM", "3D"; or even certain character names like "Wii Fit" Trainer and "Mr." Game & Watch. As for Smash itself, it's presented in the style of a huge event at a metaphorical stadium with an everchanging stage layout, all "hosted" within the Smash Bros. universe, and of course topped off with an epic enthusiastic announcer. A very popular concept in English countries, and the Japanese seems to like to keep it in its native language, thus the announcer is always English even in the Japanese version (but he still says Japanese versions of character names that are different in the English version), and the names of the fighters are in English (er, romanji) text in most cases. It's something along those lines. If someone can explain it better and in a more simplified way, then by all means. Anyway, about the Ice Climbers, I just can't fathom how making a character with another (near)-identical one mimicing its every move by a split second delay is suddenly difficult to do on a handheld. Rosalina & Luma works great, and yet IC's have trouble? I'm just not seeing it. Yes, I know Sakurai has mentioned the difficulty and limitations. Yet still, it baffles me that the 3DS, which is at least as powerful as the Gamecube, is being stingy with wanting to properly make the IC's work when they worked just fine in Melee. I'm probably reading too much into it, but frankly I just don't buy it. Now, whether they get added to the Wii U version, I don't care either way. The fact that we even got a handheld version in addition to the usual console version is well worth the sacrifice, should there be one in the matter.
  9. The only other time I've seen his last name used was in a few Awkward Zombie comics. (1st and 5th panels, respectively)
  10. Apocalypse. Ereshkigal and Balberith are my runner-ups. Will you do polls for light and anima magic too? (unless it slipped under my radar somewhere)
  11. I can't believe there are arguments over something as trivial as series representation. In my eyes, a series can't be "overrepresented" unless their playable characters exceed that of all the other playable series in the game by a long shot, which none of them do. Oh sure, there's been tons of pokeballs and assist trophies, but playable characters are the focus here. We've got four Fire Emblem characters now. I'm extremely happy seeing Lucina and Robin in the game. I don't see why FE having 4 reps makes any difference. Oh, Lucina's a clone? I couldn't care less. It's another Fire Emblem rep, I'm happy. Heck, they could have more reps, go right ahead. I'm an Embemier. Aren't you guys Emblemiers, too? I would've expected nothing but praise and excitement from most if not all of you, not petty arguments about one of your favorite series being "overrepresented." I can understand not liking the fact that Lucina is a clone, but then I hear arguments about the likelihood of certain characters getting in or not getting in, being "replaced," cut, or "(not) deserving of a 'slot'." ...Seriously, guys? There is no such thing as character slots (nevermind the fact that Sakurai himself has used the word "slot" in a Miiverse post. Just hear me out for a moment). You don't replace a character for another one. The roster is decided from the get-go. And we don't even yet know how many "slots" there are, so how can anyone say a character is replaced? Now, I know characters can get cut or added late in development, but that's not a matter of them "deserving" a spot or not. It's simply a decision that Sakurai made. How do you know veterans like Ness, Jigglypuff, Roy, Mewtwo, or whoever haven't returned? We'll never know what goes through Sakurai's mind as he makes these games, and we shouldn't try to act as though we do. We'll never know the whole roster 100% set in stone until the game releases. So, just wait for the dang blasted game to be released, ok? You can argue to your heart's content afterwards. I'll be enjoying myself in my indulgence of SSB4 3DS all the while. If you wanted a (good-hearted) opinion about any possible returning veterans, I think Roy and Mewtwo could be returning, as they are two of the Forbidden 7 which were planned for Brawl, but were ultimately cut. Who's to say Sakurai didn't decide to actually bring them back this time around? Only time will tell. I'm excited with just the current announced roster so far, but come release day, it'll be a blast no matter what happens. As I said before, be grateful that Sakurai posts pics and info for us on Miiverse every weekday. Just enjoy the ride.
  12. Before I got a good look at Mario in the PotD on Miiverse (or read the post; I look at the pic first), I thought, Referee Mario from Punch Out? That fits perfectly alongside Little Mac! It would, wouldn't it?
  13. It wasn't aimed towards just you (though I wasn't being specific anyway). It was for those of you who've been making heated arguments just over a pic being "irrelevant" or whatnot. Of course, I needn't bring up the ding dongs on Miiverse. Oh goodness gracious, Miiverse. The intelligence (or lack thereof) of those people boggle my mind. I concur. I love this new main theme already. I get hyped just listening to it.
  14. Putting it bluntly, I find it rather pathetic that people complain (vocally, at that) about Pics of the Day. Sakurai and co. have been going through the effort to bring us these sneak previews of the game every single weekday (really, what other developers are known to do that?) just like the Smash Dojo before it, and this is how you repay them? Granted, some complaints do have truth in them and there are things that I myself would prefer to see, but there's no use in complaing about something I can't change. I'm not saying you gotta like every Pic of the Day. What I'm saying is... Would you rather have no Pics of the Day at all? You should be grateful that they do this for us. I certainly am; I'd be bored from old hype and waiting without these daily tidbits of info. And I don't give a rat's ass if it's aesthetics, something obvious, or something we already knew. I'll take it, each and every one, anything to quench my thirst for the game until it finally releases. I honestly didn't expect Sakurai to do a successor to the Dojo with these daily pics. That ain't something you see everyday. Take it for what it's worth.
  15. For the sake of being reasonable and not OP, I will refrain from using FE10 mastery skills and enemy exclusive skills. To put it in perspective, I'm an FE8/FE10 General/Marshall ('cause imho we really need more sword-wielders with high/max strength caps. Axe-wielders have all the fun. Please, IS? ; [) Armsthrift (FE13) Can't have my forged/preferential weapon breaking on me now can I? Swordfaire (FE13) 'Cause that's how I roll. Renewal (FE13) Natural healing factor so I don't linger after a tough fight. Conquest (FE13) or Nullify (FE10) Armor-piercing, what's that? ; ] Also, I laugh at your hammers. Luna (FE9/13) or Ignis (FE13), depending on my magic growth. Hey, a tank's a tank. Gotta tear the foe to shreds.
  16. Play the games you love, and love the games you play.

  17. Going back to Marth for a moment. It would be great if I can make Ike's counter have it's frames occur immediately like with Marth's. But no way would anyone do vice versa. Yep. When I saw it, I was disappointed that they didn't revert SB to his Melee version. Here's hoping that it's his other alteration. And even if not, I'm still curious what that third alteration will be. For his Up-B Dolphin Slash, I'm predicting the alterations will be: Slow and powerful but doesn't carry him quite as high (like Roy's); or faster execution and carries him higher, but no invincibilty frame at the start like the normal version. I have no idea what they might do for Side-B Dancing Blade. Since we're talking about customizing moves, we can't forget about the Mii Fighters. Though actually, while I am excited about customizing their entire moveset, I'm more interested in the fact that their page on the main site shows that their series symbol is Smash Bros. This made me wonder (and I've pondered this many times before) if we might be able to choose a series symbol for each of our Mii Fighters to tie them to a particular represented series, which in turn would have them adopt that series' victory theme. Or otherwise, keeping the Smash Bros symbol for your original and/or personal Mii's if you wish (unless you want your personal Mii to be tied to a series. I know I'd tie mine to Fire Emblem in a heartbeat And if it weren't obvious, mine will be a swordfighter, hands down). Which seems like it'll be a possibility either way. In any case, we actually have playable Smash Bros series characters (though technically not), probably with a Smash Bros victory fanfare for the first time in the series. Unless they recycle the "ending" fanfare for Classic/All-Star/ (Melee) Adventure Mode. But I'd be fine with that.
  18. The way I see it, the einherjar are just a whole set of "what if" and "mix-and-match" characters. "What if these past FE characters were playable in Awakening with its pool of classes and skills?" Sure, their starting classes and skills (mostly) make sense for them. We can change them to whatever we'd like, regardless of it makes sense or not." I wouldn't have wanted Black Knight or Zephiel to be removed just because their starting class (General, which does make sense for them) can't wield swords, or that their models don't show anything unique like BK's helmet. Can't do anything about the models, but I simply changed BK to a Hero and Zephiel to a Grandmaster (Hero at first, but I picked GM for it's purple robes. Plus I like to think it alludes to his Prince class in Blazing Sword), then giving them Armsthrift and Limit Breaker (as their original weapons had infinite uses); all in all, just getting as close and faithful as I could to their original classes the way I thought fit best. Could've done anything else with them, but that's what I wanted to do with them. And I enjoyed every minute of it, and I kept going, eventually forging an epic legacy army full of characters I always liked/wanted to play as in FE. Nevermind that they're overpowered, it's still pretty awesome, and I had an awesome time making it. (This one's aimed more at the OP) And the DLC's that have you killing the legacy characters? To me, they're just dream battles. A fixed set of "what if" scenarios. "What if all these characters split into teams and fought each other, with Chrom's army as a third party?" I don't think they truly die, given their nature as einherjar, for one thing. And another, you can essentially resurrect fallen einherjar you've recruited by paying a large sum of gold. Lastly, the fact that you can repeat these "dream battles" as many time as you want, meaning all those beloved legacy characters that were killed are brought back to life to play out the scenario again, your army's actions determining how different or the same the scenario play out, though ultimately the legacy characters will die by your hand (or the NPC's) once again. But they'll be back again next time, and everytime after. They're immortal. In short: While it is painful to kill your favorite past FE characters, it's all just-for-fun and "what if" possibilities with a fun little collection of character cards, as it were. You know, when you think about it, it's sort of like all of those fan speculations behind the concept of Smash Bros. And the Smash Brethren DLC was made as an allusion to Smash Bros. That ties it all together for me.
  19. I'm not sure if I have the right explanation for this (I've never used an emulator myself), but some tome animations (and probably other attacks) seem to go at a faster rate on than emulator than on an actual GBA or GB Player. For me, it is most noticeable with Fimbulvetr and Ereshkigal. Watch Ereshkigal in this vid... and compare with this vid I'm sorry if this has already been known about for a long time. I wanted to bring it up 'cause it's something I myself immediately noticed a long time ago when I started watching emulated FE vids on youtube.
  20. Apologies, I meant R&R3. But you're right, why would anyone grind on there? The only time I'd ever actually grind there is to bring an already maxed Sorcerer to lvl 20, with the appropriate skills one would equip for farming Limit Breaker.
  21. I have all of the DLC, but I actually just summon appropriately leveled Spotpass teams and grind off those. Even a maxed Limit Broken unit could risk death fighting LB3 R&R3 by themselves (especially due to Jaffar and his blasted Lethality and Swordbreaker ). So instead, I just summon Lloyd and grind off his team, being all physical and no ranged weapons. Only takes about 30 min. to an hour to max out a weak unit. Yeah, it's slower, but safer. It helps that this method also helped me to max out my renown.
  22. I've been wanting to throw in this impossible character and moveset in a forum discussion for a very long time. Let's assume Sora from Kingdom Hearts was playable, and one other KH character was playable. Who I would choose? Not Riku. Not any of Organization XIII. I would pick Donald Duck. ...Yes, Donald Duck. For his moveset, here's what I had in mind. Standard A moves: Simple enough, considering what can happen when he's in a rage. Rapid punches, kicks, maybe use some magic like in Kingdom Hearts. Up B: Probably Gravity magic to make him levitate upwards for a few moments. Neutral B: Bug Gun ("What? A...bug gun? Since when?" Don't worry, I'll get to it). While still holding Neutral B, Donald can aim it anywhere around him, except downwards (if you press down, he'll crouch while still aiming forward). Here's the kicker: you press the basic attack button (A) to fire. You can hold A to charge the gun, up to 3 charge levels (think UFO Kirby's three lasers depending on charge length). Uncharged is short range but fast semi-auto (slower than Fox's blaster, but faster than Falco's), not sure if it would stun. Half-charged has more range, and of course due to waiting for it to charge mid-way again, refire is considerably slower. Fully charged will fire a boomerang bug, which goes farther than a mid-charged shot, then comes returns to you. If you fired it to the right, it always goes in a clockwise arc upon returning, and vice-versa. If you aimed straight upwards, it'll depend on which way Donald is facing. Side B would be one of his offensive magics like thunder, fire, blizzard, or maybe a toned-down Ultima if non-elemental attacks are preferred. Now for the best part, and honestly the main reason why I've wanted to post this. As this next move is a transformation, it could be either Donald's Down B or his Final Smash. For the sake of simplicity, I'll will treat this as his Final Smash. So what do I think Donald Duck's Final Smash would be? I know just the one. Cold Shadow. Donald's ninja-esque alter ego. For those of you who don't know, in the 90's there was a Disney game for the SNES and Genesis called Maui Mallard in Cold Shadow (Donald Duck in Cold Shadow outside the US. So that is indeed Donald Duck), a nifty platforming game which starts out with Maui/Donald out solving a mystery, armed with the aforementioned bug gun . In the second level he gets the ability to morph (yes, they use that exact word) into his alter ego Cold Shadow, a ninja armed with a bo staff. As a Final Smash, he would play much like he does in his original game. Unlike some of the more... bulky transformations, Cold Shadow would move fast, hit hard, and jump high. His standard A attacks would be swinging that staff around like nobody's business. His dash would be his "teleport" (that's what the game calls it), where he runs with wheel o' feet a la Sonic, but arguably faster. His taunt would be twirling his staff so fast that he decides to play hula hoop with it. The only thing I couldn't think of are what his new B moves would be during this state. But I think the gist of it is there. If Donald Duck were playable in Smash, I would want him with a Maui Mallard in Cold Shadow-themed moveset like this one. 'Twould be epic. Sure, we have 2 ninjas already, but this one's got a bo staff. Whew, I'm so glad I finally have that off my chest.
