  1. If she quads, then she'll take down her foe, regardless of what stat she mains. It's not like everything on the map has Lethality+(although that would have made Apotheosis actually challenging).

Sage!Gerome was not an outrageous idea for the fact that the defense/resistance gap is pretty significant(Pavise+, Helswath), meaning his lower magic stat is more preferred than his higher strength stat. Makes you wonder why physical classes even exist.

While there is a notable discrepancy in Def/Res in Apotheosis, it actually isn't very big. On average it's like a 5 point difference, with some enemies actually having higher Res than Def. The most notable case is the Wave 2 Sniper boss who has 70 Def and 46 Res. There is also the opportunity cost of optimizing a Sage Gerome. There are only 3 dads that give a positive Mag mod IIRC. Libra, Henry, and Ricken. While Ricken would make him into a notable Sage, you end up losing out on the much more superior Ricken!Owain. Libra and Henry leave Gerome a +2 Mag for Sage. But Henry also gives Gerome Axefaire and Henry!Gerome would rather be a 62 Str Zerker with a 17 Mt weapon than a 53 Magic Sage with a 9 Might weapon. Libra!Gerome can do 55 Mag Sage and that's it. There's not real opportunity cost for Libra!Gerome, but Libra!Gerome isn't on par with a Physical Gerome for damage output on most enemies.

And in spite of that, you see everyone and their grandma recommending Vaike!Gerome as a Berserker...

Stahl!Gerome is the way of the future. :P:

  2. I didn't... you thought that I thought my personal reasons influenced my gameplay reasons which... they do not. And I thought every female has to be a Dark Flier because of how overpowered Dark Flier x Sage couples are?

Easy there, we're all friends here. I've seen some people conflate personal preference with game play and I thought you were doing it so my bad. I've seen things like "Inigo is cooler as Chrom's son and optimization doesn't matter so Chrom x Olivia is Chrom's best pairing" as an argument for Chrolivia being optimal before, which is a contradicting statement. Anyway Sage access is important for Tomefaire Dark Flier. But not every girl has to be Dark Flier. Dark Flier x Sage is powerful but not to the point where it is the only thing you should have. The point is Sumia!Lucina can compete with Olivia!Lucina in the Physical department with Sumia!Lucy's natural Paladin and Sniper access but Sumia!Lucina blows Olivia!Lucina out of the water in the magic department so Sumia!Lucina's got much more versatility on her side.

For Physical, Olivia!Lucy > Sumia!Lucy but not by a large margin.

However for Magic Sumia!Lucina beats Olivia!Lucina hard.

Sumia!Lucina simply has more positives than Olivia!Lucina does, that's all.

This also addresses your second point about Sumia!Lucy having to go magical. She doesn't, Maribelle!Lucina does. It's just that Sumia!Lucy can compete pretty well in the magical and physical departments with Olivia!Lucina and Maribelle!Lucina while having the option to switch between them at will. Neither Maribelle!Lucina or Olivia!Lucina have that luxury. All of this is coupled with the fact that Sumia!Lucina grants you Chrom!Cynthia, who is Jesus on Wings.

  3. ^Her moves inspire soldiers to work just-stand-there-and-watch-her-dance-for-200-turns twice as hard.

I always dance abuse with Olivia. Characterwise, I love her and Inigo, and having a discreet assassin with lots of bright pink hair flowing about is an opportunity I won't pass up.

Haha, that's totally fair. But who was stealth? Behold the pink hair of silence. Even funnier is that since female assassins have the waggly hips it is as if Olivia couldn't contain the need to dance.

  4. Of course ChromxOlivia is canon. "Inigo" is a corruption of "indigo". Chrom has indigo hair. Chrom's offspring ends with Chrom's hair colors. Chrom is, thus, the only parent who gives Inigo indigo-colored hair. So, Chrom is Inigo's canon father.

Who cares that his name in Japanese is "Azure" anyways, that's only a technicality.

    Hoenn confurmd.

♫ You can Dance if you want to,

If you have Second Seals to spare,

'Cause if you can Dance and begin a romance,

Then Inigo will have blue hair. ♫

    This.... this is genius.

  5. *One hour.

It also depends on who Azure/Inigo's father is. If it's a unit you've been using, it saves you a long while.

Olivia can also dance abuse on the level you get her. 200 Turns is enough for her to be a dodge tank for hard mode.

I meant that with Rey as the exception. We all know Rey is Inigo's canon dad but other than that Inigo isn't worth the recruitment, lol.

.... I can't picture Olivia shaking her hips for 200 turns. The poor girl would get burnt out!

  6. Why does everyone do so good with Olivia and Inigo?

The correct answer is they don't. Olivia has crap combat abilities and by extension of being her son Inigo has crap bases. Inigo's also got the hardest kid paralogue in the game. The only way Inigo and Olivia do good in main game is by taking them into EXP Growth DLC and grinding for hours, lol.

  7. Olivia!Lucina > Sumia!Lucina. To get to that magic 75 needed to double like 7 enemies in the game, just use a Speed Tonic.

Chrom x Olivia family is honestly better than Chrom x Sumia family. I've always liked the idea of Inigo being Chrom's son and their parent convos fit well, despite being generic. The offensive perks of the latter don't really matter much because Pair-up breaks everything already.

Although apparently the Apotheosis hype hasn't worn out yet even after a year...

It's cool if you like the family dynamic of Chrolivia more, but you shouldn't conflate it with gameplay. By virtue of have Sage access alone Sumia!Lucina beats Olivia!Lucina.

  8. Male Morgan is so chill and down to Earth, and he's quite the humble little one. He's so cool and level headed about everything, I could see this guy wanting to become a Tactician. He's also quite the dork, AND he was in the Justice Cabal with Cynthia and Owain! I could only imagine how epic the Justica Cabal was.

Female Morgan's a cheeky little cunt who trolls all the guys. I can't picture her being a Tactician, but man does she crack me up.

I like Male Morgan more because he's just so damn cool.

  9. I have tried this pairing a few times. In general I prefer Sumia to be paired with Chrom, primarily because Sumia is a better combat unit that can utilize Chrom more effectively (100% Dual Strike).

    However,

When I use the ChromxSumia pairing I never seem to know what to do with Olivia. I've tried OliviaxStahl, OliviaxLibra, OliviaxRicken, OliviaxHenry and OliviaxLon'qu, Stahl honestly felt like one of the better pairings because I tended to like having Inigo be physical (the only problem is Stahl is in high demand for many of the children). Inigo as a physical unit needs very little to be effective (Olivia gives him most of his tool box) adding Luna and a positive str modifier is enough. Chrom easily gives Inigo what he wants to be a physical unit. Utilizing ChromxOliva lets you use SumiaxHenry which arguably produces a better Cynthia (but Henry is another parent that has multiple uses and is a surprisingly good father!).

You can do some silly things with Dancer Olivia and Paladin/Sniper Chrom. Example: Give a maxed out Olivia boots and put her in Dancer with Limit breaker, Astra, Swordfaire, Galeforce and All stats+2 or special dance and have Chrom supporting with Limit breaker, Dual Strike+, Aggressor, Sword/Bowfaire and all stats+2 or Dual Guard+. Have Olivia lead the attack (this needs boots, movement 5 doesn't cut it), with a brave sword and Chrom supporting she can easily take down most enemies, trigger galeforce but don't use her again just yet. Follow up with your other units and as your battle line moves up Olivia can fix an attack that went wrong (by getting that unit to act again with special dance) or just let a completed galeforcer go again. Is this optimal? no... but it is pretty amusing.

I guess I'll answer this. Any dad that gives Inigo Luna is a winner. Stahl, Freddy, Ricken, Kellam, and Chrom are all good for Inigo.

  10. Are we talking about optimization or the pairing?

People like the pairing because FE4 reference, right? Out of the blue Dancer wife and what not? It's why I put Tyrfing in Chrom!Inigo's inventory when I did it.

For optimization? Basically for Chrom!Inigo and the gimmicky RFK Lethality. It's for Streetpass trolling. But honestly, Chrom x Sumia beats Chrom x Olivia in just about everything.

    Better second kid. Chrom!Cynthia >> Chrom!Inigo.

As a combat unit, Sumia >> Olivia. Luna + Tomefaire + Galeforce Sage/Dark Flier beats Swordfaire + Astra + Galeforce Assassin pretty easily. So Sumia makes better use out of Chrom's Dual Strike+ and you get to keep your only dancer. Outside of highly specialized Skl builds, Chrom is your only other source of easy 100% Dual Strike that isn't Lucina. No way you can let that go to waste.

By virtue of having access to Sage alone Sumia!Lucina > Olivia!Lucina.

Let's not even forget how much of a pain in the buttocks it is to pair Chrom with Olivia. R.I.P. Lucina's base stats.

There's like, zero reason to pair Chrom with Olivia when Maribelle!Lucina and Sumia!Lucina exist.

This is before I even mention the opening movie

  11. I have quite a few. Off the top of my head.

Chrom. Yes, Chrom. He's basically the best hard support in the game. Aggressor + 100% Dual Strike is the bee's knees.

Sumia as Chrom's wife. She's the best non-MU gen 1 for post game.

My +Spd/-Def Assassin FeMU. Goes without saying. She laughs at Apotheosis. Double (4x) everything with Brave Bow all day every day.

My FeMU's Husband, Freddy!Inigo. Hits like a truck.

Chrom!Cynthia. Aether + Luna + Galeforce. Enough said.

    Sumia!Lucina. It's Lucina. Enough said.

Freddy!Inigo!Morgan. 3rd Gen Morgan. God tier.

    Lon'qu!Severa. Enough said.

  12. Actually, regarding Lucina, not physical attacker-wise. Olivia!Lucina beats Sumia!Lucina in that area.

Sumia!Lucina is more versatile in different roles.

    They're about the same, really.

Agreed, for the Lucina variations it goes like this.

Physical - Olivia (+3 Str mod)

Magical - Maribelle (+3 Mag mod)

Mixed - Sumia (+0 Str, +1 Mag mod, highest Skl and Spd)

God - Avatar (custom mods, every class)

y u do dis - Sully (Skl and Spd are her perks but Sumia does the same thing with better mods, better classes, and with Galeforce)

    Ya fuck'd up - Maiden

It usually boils down to Chrom's second child when picking a pairing for Chrom, and seeing as Aether beats Aggressor, Cynthia is basically superior to all of Chrom's sons and she beats Kjelle because Geylfurse. Also worth noting that Chrom!Cynthia gets the skills, classes, faires, and mods to perform like a beast in any class at her disposal (Lancefaire Paladin/Bowfaire Sniper for Physical,Tomefaire Dark Flier/Sage for magical). Chrom x Sumia optimizes itself. Chrom x Sumia OTP for life

  13. Walhart

Olivia's and Sumia's are cute, as is Stahl's. I also like Tharja's in a kind of morbid way. Henry's is funny. Chrom's and Priam's are kind of boring and generic. Libra's is overblown (I think it has the most animation). And in actuality, Walhart's is terrifying.

Walhart's is not terryifying, it's glorious. You take that back right now, you heathen. I didn't realize how amazing Walhart's hair was until I saw his confession. And once again, it's still one of the best supports in the whole game. /rant

Why do I even try with these kinds of people...

"These kinds of people"? Really? Was that necessary? She doesn't like pair, so she won't do it. Simple as that. I don't think not doing something because you don't like it is a foreign concept.

I mean, Awakening takes a lot of flak for this.

Sure, the point to make money was to appeal to *that* side of people... but man, I haven't seen this extreme of waifu/husbando-ism since... browsing forums with Visual Novels, really.

...Besides confessions that are fully voiced scenes in those kinds of games are much more worth if you're going to go that dark road.

It's like people expect praise for having a "2D family" in this game.

The explosions of Awakening fanfiction at FF.net...

And it's not even the smut that's bad... just the fact that people take the vision of their lovely spouse from the confession image and voice work... they become so OOC being so madly in love with their MU... man.

Self insert character + a pool of characters of the opposie gender you can marry + making a kid with said character of the opposite gender = a strong recipe for Fanfics and waifu/husbando loons. It's something that can be pretty fun, but there will always be the group of people that take it too far (which applies to just about everyhing).
