  1. Gematsu is too stubborn to admit that he was misinformed about Chrom (as I had predicted), as well as Shulk, it seems. lol Chrom's clearly part of the Final Smash of one of the two.

Also, Banryu is going to freak when he sees all this. He was SO sure Avatar wouldn't get in. XD

So was I, but eh. Gotta deal with it. Not happy about Lucy being a clone at all. She better be a costume, she has her own animations for Chrissake. Robin looks a bit on the boring side

Looks like I'll be sticking to the fucking horribly nerfed Marth in this game too RIP Forward Air. Marth, Pit, and Shiek go go go.

I just can't shake this nagging feeling that that this is the reason for the delay. I have no doubts Chrom was going to be the rep but since that leak was killin' it Sakurai went into horee sheet mode, scrapped Chrom, and added Robin/Lucy instead. The trailer seemed more like a big middle finger to Gematsu than a simple deconfirm of Chrom.

  2. I plan on having Stahl has Severa's father because she gets Luna that way with a decent Speed mod, something Frederick tanks. While the Skill and Speed mods from Lon'qu are really nice, he doesn't give Luna.

Severa has Vengeance out of the box, she doesn't need a proc. Lol why is this missed so often.

Vengeance has 100% activation and if you play with your head on straight you won't die.

  3. Would it be possible for Lon'qu!Laurent x Sumia!Lucina to act as a toned down version of the VVDS+ Morgan and Lucina that people use to run through Apo with the minimum amount of characters possible?

Evidently he wouldn't be soloing it, but doesthe same premise apply?

Yes it is possible. At least it should be. LQ!Laurent has the exact same key mod spread as a +Mag/-Def Avatar (+4 Mag/-3 Def) while also having a +5 skill lead over +M/-D Avatar meaning he shouldn't need Skl +2 to hit 100% DS. In the absence of skl+2 you can put Anathema on Laurent himself.

What I am curious about is if Gregor!Laurent can do it. He has +3 Mag and +0 Def but I am curious to see if he can offset his lower magic and higher defense with HP +5 to increase his HP threshold for Vengeance.

Edit: Gregor!Laurent doesn't have HP +5. Silly me.

  4. Hmmm... To be honest, when it comes down to it, I find the merits of proc stacking kinda questionable. Personally, I don't see the appeal of running another attack skill when you already have one, in large part because most proc stacking combos come off to me as rather iffy (and about the only one that DOESN'T is rather limited in terms of who can use it anyway).

Almost all proc stacks of primary procs are viable.

    Ignis/Luna (Luna is checked first)

    Astra/Luna (Astra is checked first)

    Aether/Luna (Aether is checked first)

Proper proc stacking does wonders for your average damage output. The only ones that could be considered iffy would he something retarded like Lethality/Sol or stacking with Vengeance.

  5. His examples all involve skill. You can't teach yourself to make your heart beat faster..

The faster driver is obviously the more skilled driver.

I'd hate to get in a car with you behind the wheel. The better driver can afford to drive above normal pace because they are good drivers and can minimize the risk associated with fast drive. But a fast driver is not instantly a good driver. That is a terrifying thought.

  6. I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this, but I noticed something interesting about procstacks the other day. Occasionally I see people putting Sol and Luna together to make a "pseudo-Aether", but since Sol has priority over Luna, triggering Sol becomes very common and Luna becomes very rare (the highest possible Luna proc rate is 25%, when you have exactly 50 Skl). This is fine if you want healing with a side of damage, but not so fine if you want damage with a side of healing, or both in even amounts.

Anyway, what I did was swap Luna for Astra. Since Astra has priority over Sol, at 50 Skl your chances of activating an offensive proc are still 25%, but once you go over 50 Skl your chances go up instead of down (your Sol rate will be a lot lower though). It's not -too- hard to get a lead unit to 80 Skl with all boosts applied, which gives 40% Astra and 48% Sol- which is a lot more balanced than 80% Sol and 16% Luna.

Astra/Sol Proc stacking? Sounds pretty nifty.

  7. Depends on what you mean by creator. If you are talking about the Director and designer of Xenoblade, he worked on a lot of the old Square games in the graphics department like Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 7 but directed all the Xenogears, Xenosaga and now the current Xenoblade.

You've mentioned some of the greatest games of all time. I knew he did the Xeno series but I didn't know he worked on the first half of the games you mentioned.

  8. Virion!Severa can be a very good Tomefaire Dark Flier, but the reason she's so amazing is that she isn't restricted to it. As a Lancefaire Wyvern, her stats are (for all intents and purposes) identical to Lon'qu!Severa- she perfectly hits 75 Spd with LB, All+2 and a +8 pairup (Berserker). She can also be a Sniper with a very good 100% DS potential, an AT Nostank for maingame/RaR3/anything but Apo, or a Sage for a little more power over DF. Essentially, she can fill pretty much any role- the only things other Severas have over her are Faires that Hero can use, Luna, +2 in either offensive mod or more dodgetanking skills.

My favorite pairing for Virion!Severa is Henry!Gerome, who is able to compliment her diversity fairly well.

As for Fred!Ingio, let's look at his Avo. I'll make him an Assassin with LB/Avo+10/OF/Tantivity/Patience, holding an S.Bow. He can be paired up with another Assassin (I know SM is better, but Assassin has more utility outside of fighting Snipers).

    Spd: 46(base) +10(LB) +10(Rally) +9(pairup) +2(tonic) =77.

    Lck: 45(base) +1(mods) +10(LB) +14(Rally) +3(pairup) +2(tonic) =75.

Avo: 153(base) +40(+Avo skills) +10(pairup) +50(S.Bow) =253. NS has 249 Hit, so Inigo can dodge him 100% of the time.

So since Inigo can meet the threshold for dodging the highest Hit non-Hawkeye enemy in the game (which is also the only one that can't be physically tanked reliably barring extreme setups), he joins the best Avo tank in the game club. Who cares if Severa can go a few points higher if there are no more thresholds for her to meet (outside of some Streetpass teams, of course)?

Wouldja look at that. Nice calculations, man. Didn't realize his dodge tanking was that good. Could you fit bow breaker into Inigo's skillset? Or does Bow Breaker clash with S. Bow?

  9. Ha. A year ago, I was actually using Virion!Severa for the first time because I liked Virion and Cordelia's supports (now, I can't even remember what they were about) and trying to figure out a way to make her useful. Lancefaire Wyvern was actually the first thing I tried to "salvage" her (though it actually wasn't as impressive then as it is now because Apo wasn't out in the 'states). Funny that now she's one of the most versatile non-Avatar/Morgan units in the game.

I probably have a ton of other ideas that are still ahead of their time.

Fred!Inigo is an interesting case because his greatest strength is very counter-intuitive. At first glance, he looks like a decently strong but fairly slow GF/Luna skirmisher- but actually, despite being slow he has one of the biggest portfolios of +Avo skills in the game (including all Breakers except Tome) and makes a great dodgetank. Depending on your playstyle, turning one of your double Galepairs into a single one is worth it to free up Severa for maximum offense while still having a unit with 100% survival against the Nightmare Sniper.

Virion!Severa is better as a tomefaire Dark Flier and Lon'qu!Severa a Lancefaire Wyvern, right? That was a good find.

I was actually going to bring that up about Freddy!Inigo. He's strangely got some pretty decent dodge tank potential because of the breakers he has access to. I wouldn't necessarily call him "slow" considering he is only 3 points behind in speed to his commonly accepted best iteration (Chrom!Inigo). But as a dodge tank he definitely isn't touching Lon'qu!Severa anytime soon. Still, I think the dodge tank utility can make him competitive with the big 3 Inigos (Chrom, Stahl, Ricken)

  10. If there's anyone who can actually be called "best dad in the game", I'm voting for Virion. Yes, Virion. It took me a while to realize how to use him, but it really payed off in the end.

If you said this a year ago you would be banned from this site. Lol.

Also, Freddy x Panne is good, but I rather put Freddy on Inigo since in my setup of Ricken, Chrom, and Stahl are all taken. Freddy produces a monster Inigo. He's not god tier like the 3 dads I mentioned but man he is solid. He doesn't even mind the speed penalty and gets +3 Strength and +4 Skill out of the deal. It's probably my personal favorite Inigo.

I just stick Kellam on Yarne because eh, it's Yarne. I know I'm a horrible person.

  11. Conservative Republican. I'm often met with a lot of surprise at this fact because I'm African American. However, the GOP has become a hub of idiocy, so I rather not put it out there in public.

Being progressive is good, being progressive to the point where we have to be sensitive to the needs of everything that breathes is not.

  12. I'm also curious as to where you draw the line between convenience and abuse, Chiki. I don't think you've made it explicitly clear yet.

    For instance, let's take Jack.

Jack is a player who makes reliably sound strategies that don't depend on luck. He has made all the right moves turn by turn and is now on turn 5. On turn 5, he fucks up and makes a grave tactical error by underestimating the range of a Wyvern Lord or something. This mistake gets a character killed. Rather than wasting like 20-30 mins repeating the same turns 1-4, he simply loads a save state for turn 5 and works around his mistake by altering his strategy. Even if the EP doesn't go his way, he'll work around it and only loads the save in the event that a character gets killed. In Jack's case, he is a pretty decent player who simply doesn't want to waste time repeating actions. Convenience or abuse?
