  1. I'm partial to Cordelia because I can have an entire family of four whose members all can use the Armsthrift skill and that it's one of the few romantic supports that Cordelia has that does not involve her or her potential partner speaking about Chrom. (IIRC, only with male Avatar and Donnel does Cordelia not speak about Chrom at all during the supports). Cordelia also gets the sweet kiss scene in the Summer Scramble DLC map if her significant other is male Avatar -- and she's the one who "traps" the male Avatar and initiates the kiss!

Yes, I am aware of the level up quotes and the barracks/event tile stuff -- that's pretty much a case of gameplay and story segregation.

My other favorites for male Avatar are Lissa and Sumia.

For the female Avatar, I'd ship her with Chrom -- it's a very fitting pairing in the entire game IMO, and allows Lucina and Morgan to be proc-spammers. Heck, in the event that female Avatar is not married to Chrom and Lucina is already recruited, Lucina seems to implicitly ship the pairing of ChromXF!Avatar -- she wonders why the female Avatar didn't get together with Chrom in her support with male Morgan and in her support with female Avatar, she seems to alternate between not wanting female Avatar seducing Chrom or wanting female Avatar to fall for Chrom.

  2. First off, check enemies' skills as early as possible. Make sure that key mooks don't have skills that can ruin the battle plan (like in Prologue, reset if the northern most mage has Luna+ if you intend to use the Water trick).

You also have to hope that you get some good level ups, namely in HP, Def and Spd. Any Asset-Flaw combination can work, but +Def/-Skl is a very reliable one. +Def/-Lck is also good, but MU can be liable to be hit by a crit. I went with +HP/-Lck for guaranteed HP level ups (it worked pretty well, though I could've been lucky with the level ups; I still had to reset because of skills, deaths or enemy AI not acting the way I want it to act).

HP, Spd, or Def flaw can make the early game VERY difficult. Frederick, from Prologue to Chapter 4, is mostly going to act as a Support bot for MU.

And I did not actually attempt Lunatic+ Casual. I only played Normal Casual, Lunatic Classic and currently on Lunatic+ Classic.

  3. Try Lunatic+ difficulty, especially in Classic mode. Not only do the reinforcements act immediately upon arrival, you also do not know what randomly generated skills they have on until they actually engage your units, or until the next Player Phase starts.

That means that any one of the enemy units can have Counter equipped which can be very dangerous especially if the targeted unit can retaliate at 1 range and cannot OHKO them. Not to mention the possibility of Luna+ and Hawkeye mooks running around that can potentially finish off your units.

This screenshot was taken from my Lunatic Classic file. Units used are Chrom, male Robin, Sumia, Cordelia, and a bunch of legacy characters. The legacy characters are maxed out while the first 4 characters I mentioned have reclassed after going through promotion.

In Normal Casual, using a bunch of promoted units (preferably those that can attack at 1-2 range using weapons like tomes, javelins or hand axes) should be enough as long as they're healed and have some Rally support.

  5. It is a pain if Tharja doesn't have a partner that can attack at 1 range. Also, good snipers and perhaps other bow users rule on Lunatic+ difficulty especially on no-grind runs.

Not that Tharja is any good to begin with as a bow user.

  6. It's tempting, but I don't give new names for my forged weapons for simplicity's sake, especially if the weapons of the same original name are upgraded with the same statistics. (ie. 2 Celica's Gale tomes both forged to have +5 Mt and +15 Hit)

There's also the slight issue of how there is a limit in the number of unique forged weapons allowed in a singe save file.

  7. For simplicity's sake, just reclass her through all classes just so she can pick up the entire extent of her skillpool. For my case, her final class was Sorcerer and I had Noire inherit Pavise from her just to save on grinding time -- grinding as a low-movement unit is not fun.

  8. While I don't mind Robin as a character -- heck, I plan on maining him/her along with a few others on Smash Bros -- he/she is pretty much a Canon Sue. However, this is justified given how Robin/Avatar is essentially a self-insert character. That much can easily be seen in how he/she can be customized to the player's tastes, is a main character (insta-game over if defeated just like Chrom [and Lucina in Classic mode]), is able to support every story character in the game, has massive class freedom and the fact that he/she can become OP very quickly (why is there the Veteran skill on him/her when he/she still has amnesia?).

Also, protagonists that have a LOT of love interests are usually practically Sues. Not really helping Robin's/Avatar's case is that the whole Support system is similar to a dating sim.

  9. I find Kellam pretty funny, though I don't use him very often due to the fact that he has low movement and no Armsthrift access despite having a solid skillpool -- Luna, Pavise, Renewal, Acrobat, Limit Break, Resistance +10 and Movement +1.

I'd use him at least so he can be a good dad for Nah.

  10. I chose to marry Cordelia on my first/main file as well as in my Lunatic and Lunatic+ files. Not only is she beautiful, but I can relate to her because of the unrequited love scenario. She's also great unit IMO, having access to Armsthrift and Sol on top of Galeforce. Plus, I get to have Severa as a daughter along with Morgan.

There's also the neat gimmick of a pair of best friends marrying a pair of best friends if ChromXSumia is one of the pairings used in addition to RobinXCordelia.

  11. Depends on the character and if I plan on using statboosters. On Lunatic+, and since I'm not counting on getting a lot of statboosters, some characters, especially several of the male gen. 1 units, take a while even if they have a small class pool since maxing out Magic and Resistance is often difficult, even with the Dread Fighter class. I think even MU takes a shorter time to completely max out in his final class if grinding for all skills since s/he has good growth rates all-around.

  12. 858 hours, 21 minutes. Grinding a crapton of legacy characters as well as a couple self-designed MUs from scratch really adds up along with support grinding and Renown grinding. My main file's got more than 700 hours clocked on it, spent more than 40 hours filling out the support log, about 30 hours completing Lunatic Classic and have more than 50 hours on my Lunatic+ Classic file (still on Chapter 16).

  13. The main thing I did to celebrate Robin's entry into Smash Bros. was to give him a forged Levin Sword (the usual +5 Mt/+15 Hit) as part of his main inventory (+5 Mt/+15 Hit Celica's Gale, +5 Mt/+15 Hit Brave Sword, Book of Naga, Elixir). If s/he's already maxed out, and has a good Pair-Up partner (Cordelia or Chrom for my case), the weapon works well even in Lunatic+. I also have forged Thunder, Elthunder, Arcthunder, Thoron, Arcfire, Elwind, Nosferatu and Bronze Sword for the occasion as well.

I also posted a screenshot on Miiverse showing him with capped stats in his Tactician class with forged Levin Sword, Thoron, Arcfire, Elwind and Nosferatu and with the skills Swordfaire, Tomefaire, Counter, Acrobat and Pass.

  14. For my Normal Casual file, anybody who does not get Armsthrift will get benched almost immediately after being maxed out.

In my Lunatic Classic file, it's easier to list the units I've actually used: Chrom, male Robin, Sumia, Cordelia and some legacy characters. Frederick got benched not long after he did his job from Prologue to Chapter 4.

For Lunatic+ Classic, that's TBD, though I only use Robin+Cordelia/Chrom and logbook characters in Risen skirmishes.

  15. 1. Fire Emblem Awakening

    2. Team Fortress 2

    3. Rhythm Thief and the Emperor's Treasure

    4. Kamidori Alchemy Meister

    5. Kid Icarus Uprising

    6. Senran Kagura Burst

    7. Pokemon X

    8. Cave Story

    9. Kirby Super Star Ultra

    10. Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky

  16. Rating is totally unimportant. Period. The stats that make up the rating along with the skillset matters.

I can have a rating of 400 using a stock +HP/-Lck male Avatar in the Dread Fighter class and equipped with the weapon, Book of Naga (+5 to Def. and Res.) and the following skills:

    • Limit Break
    • All Stats +2
    • Defender
    • Tomefaire
    • Resistance +10

His rating can be boosted even further to as high as 553 given the following conditions:

    • He is paired up with a promoted/Dread Fighter/Bride unit (that does not provide a movement bonus) that he has an A or S rank support with.
    • He used all Tonics beforehand.
    • He was hit by Rally Strength, Magic, Skill, Speed, Luck, Defense, Resistance, Spectrum and Heart.
    • He used a Pure Water or was the recipient of a Ward staff use.
    • He got a barracks event in which 2 of his stats got temporarily raised by 4.
    • He was a recipient of Olivia's Special Dance.

https://miiverse.nintendo.net/posts/AYMHAAACAAAYUKlTzE-IkA Here's a screenshot of him having 545 rating (since he did not have a barracks event that temporarily boosts 2 of his stats for one battle).
