  1. So I heard about how they made a reboot of Digimon Adventure. I was skeptical to that, and I haven't watched it just yet, but... it just made a very convincing point for itself. Two, actually. Point 1: This song is awesome. Point 2: MetalGreymon looks absolutely vicious in this thumbnail. I found that thing to be rather silly-looking in previous appearances, which is why I always preferred RizeGreymon from Savers (which is basically blasphemy for Digimon fans, I know). Now the only question is... can and does this reboot match the excellent character writing from the original four series? Or does it go the Xros Wars route where each episode is basically all fighting and next to zero character exploration? Guess I'll find out, eh?
  2. When I say "best", I actually mean she's one of the least worst ones. As in, one of the few I actually do like. Along with... like, two or three others? Maybe? If Conquest has anything over Birthright is that it has more characters I can tolerate. Even though the tally on those on Conquest is, like... five or six, depending on my mood that day. Regardless, I hope you'll enjoy yourself!
  3. Let's see... There's the original Sakura Matou from Fate/Stay Night The AI Sakura that is based on the original, appearing in Fate Extra And then the "Sakura Five" that spawned from AI Sakura in Fate Extra CCC (although only three of them actually appear in the game): BB (actually, only BB spawned from AI Sakura, and then she went on to create the other four... who all hate her xD), Passionlip (don't look this up), Meltryllis (don't look this up, either), Kazuradrop, and Kingprotea Legit the best character in Birthright.
  4. That is also very true. Though you could in theory make the argument that they did it to save storage space, at least as far as the reused assets are concerned.
  5. As I have not played previous arcs, I'll take your word for it. But I honestly have my doubts as to them being that much better in those games, I'll be honest. That is correct! Though in the cases of the characters you mentioned, it kinda sorta makes sense, as they are supposed to be parent and child, haha
  6. *high five* Not just FE4, but FE in general kinda likes its derivations. xD For example, Priscilla is red-haired Nanna, and Eirika is blue-haired Lachesis (heck, their sprites in their base classes are practically the same), Erinys/Ferry/Fury/Erin is Palla without the headband, and Fee is a green-haired Est, Rody and Luke are Sain and Kent, Cecile is Wendy with a headband, and Leif is brown-haired Gaiden Alm minus the unfortunate groin armor. And don't even get me started on Morgan and Katarina... or how you can turn Kris into a discount Ike. FE be rippin' itself off. xD And then there's Sophia, whom fanartists have made practically indistinguishable from BB (a Fate character) recently, to the point where I get severely confused whenever I look up art. It's like... THE most basic FE story you could get. It takes absolutely zero risks whatsoever. Ironically, that makes it the best of the three, and the only one I can tolerate as a story... (main) characters are still dog poop, though. Also, basically every map but one is rout or kill boss. I mean... I did. XD That entire series really is not my thing, as I discovered after attempting Trails in the Sky. That, and the story bends over itself to make him look good. On top of being a boring black hole. Everything Ouroboros does. They are seriously one of the worst parts of Trails for me. I'd spoil Cold Steel for you if I went into detail, so I won't, since I don't want to ruin your fun, but, for me, every time they appeared, or were the center of the plot, the story took an absolute nosedive into the pits. I'd seriously take any generic FE cult over these guys any day of the week. And King Arthur. And Nobunaga Oda. And Okita Souji. And Nero. And Jack the Ripper. And Frankenstein's Monster. And Attila the Hun. Along with probably some others I am not aware of right now. XD
  7. Thanks! ^^ If not for the name, I would have legit thought they just made a different art of Brigid or Clarisse/Kleine. Also, a girl named Ullr is heckin' weird, knowing the Norse origin of that name. xD The darkest timeline, because now she's part of the "here's what NOT to do when making a villain/villainous organization" organization.
  8. Hehe, thanks! But this is not something I wrote! ^^;
  9. Same here! Looks like Germany and Latin America have (or had) pretty similar approaches to anime dubs! I'm still sad over no German version of We Are Xros Heart and X4B The Guardian. Weaker than preceeding seasons though Digimon Xros Wars was, perhaps, the music was amazing as ever, and these two songs are definite standouts to me. But Germany decided to go with the American dub for that series, which... was a bit sad, for me. That is a mystery for me, too, as Germany, again, did the exact same thing. Imagine me, sitting there, waiting to hear the greatness of Break Up and Brave Heart on the big screen (I was actually in the cinema), only to get really, really bad rap music instead. As well as a movie with a really confusing plot. It wasn't until I actually watched the three original versions that I knew what was even going on. xD
  10. Sad thing is, Digimon Adventure tri. was so full of missed opportunities. Just to name one example: the first movie peaked in what could potentially be the hypest thing ever. Alphamon vs. Omegamon (Omnimon in the west), two of the strongest Digimon out there, both part of one of the strongest groups of Digimon, the Royal Knights, and both said to be their leaders. And it lasted all of two minutes. I was disappointed. I see! That's interesting! Oh yeah, this version of the song is amazing! Definitely! Germany had this for Savers/Data Squad, too. All they did was use the names from the English translation for the characters and Digimon, until in Data Squad, they decided to go with the Japanese names for both Digimon (so Gallantmon went back to Dukemon, and Omnimon to Omegamon) and their attacks. Human characters stuck with the American dub names, so Masaru was still Marcus. for us. They did keep and dub the music from the Japanese version, though I am sad we never got the opening version of this: We did get the song in an episode, when they used it as an insert song, but... sadly, never the opening version, haha!
  11. ^^ This stuff was part of my childhood. Well, the German version was, at the very least. But I really like the original, too!
  12. Sorry to hear that. I hope your mom will be okay! That is the translation to Brave Heart, the evolution theme for Digimon Adventure. To this day one of my favorite songs in all of anime. And one of the few I can actually sing along to.
  13. If given a second, anyone can give up and run So just keep on walking There's something only you can do So that this blue planet doesn't lose it's light Seize the dreams you had! Protect your beloved friends! You can become stronger Unknown power dwells in your heart, when its fire is lit Any wish, it's true Will surely be granted...show me your brave heart Not every day is sunny, so sometimes Even though a cold rain is falling, just open your umbrella There's no map of how to live, that's why we're free You can go anywhere Run faster than the wind! Aim farther than the skies! You can meet a new you Unknown courage sleeps in your heart, and when you realize The downpour in your heart Will surely stop...show me your brave heart Seize the bright tomorrow! Protect the ones you love! You can become stronger Break that weak self! Destroy the walls blocking you! The warm beat of your heart will be your weapon Believe in your heart
  14. @Shrimperor, I wish you all the world's enjoyment in your travels, and I hope you'll stay safe, friend! If he was depicted as being 28 and not 280, I would have had to sue the creator of this for putting me in the game without my knowledge. They even made him a fire dragon. In any case, I have had an unfortunate encounter yesterday. Or rather, someone whom I thought I had removed from my life decided to intrude again. I got an e-mail from someone I have not talked to in six years now, someone I once called a friend. Best friend, even. But we had a falling out, and, well, we haven't spoken to each other ever since. I don't know what prompted them to message me yesterday, and honestly, I do not really want to know. Their message wasn't exactly apologetic, either, which caused some rather... unpleasant feelings of years of being taken for granted, feeling used, doing favor after favor after favor only to get no thanks for them, instead, the only thing I got were even more favors, sometimes even those that went past what I was really comfortable with, and favors I asked of my own were either met with complete silence or increasingly flimsy excuses for why that person could not follow through. Now, I am really not someone who only does things for others for rewards. I really am not. But would a simple show of gratitude and the really have been so much to ask? I really do not know why I put up with that person for that long, and I probably should have ended the friendship much sooner than I ended up doing. But at some point, I just could not put up with it anymore. I felt like I was being taken advantage of, neither my health or well-being was of any concern. I was just there to do stuff for that person, whether or not I was actually willing or capable of doing it did not matter. In fact, I was being coerced into doing it regardless. And when I really said no, that person would actively get pissed off at me. And that was finally the point where I told that person to their face all they had put me through, and ended the friendship right then and there. I was stupid, in retrospect. Stupid for not ending the friendship sooner, but I am also the kind of person who, despite all cynicism, longs for friendly contact with others. I want friends, and so I might sometimes get a bit desperate in my attempts at keeping them, no matter the damage to myself. But I also remember that this was the incident that made me not want any friends anymore. I've been stepped on one time too many... at least that's how I thought back then. It's a little better now, but the anxiety of making friends, and it turning out the same way as all my other "friendships" (either people pretending to be friends so they could shame me in front of the entire class, or, well... this) did is still lingering in the back of my mind. *sigh* Sorry to vent about this all of a sudden. I... really don't know why I burden you guys with this kind of crap.
  15. That might be true, but even in video games, seeing the things makes me squeamish. *shudders* --- Vaccination, eh? I haven't had mine yet. Because I quite literally CAN'T. I was at the doctor's a few days ago because of a stomach thing (again), and they said that I am someone who is at risk for severe side effects to the vaccine, so now I am proud owner of a certificate that marks me as someone who cannot be vaccinated under any circumstance, due to health concerns. How very ironic, isn't it? I am at risk of severe effects from the virus, and I can't be vaccinated against it. Beautiful. Maybe I'll say hello to my grandpa again soon. Would not be the worst thing ever, in all honesty.
  16. Sad that she leaves right after that dungeon. Though on the other hand... it might have been for the best, considering I was seriously thinking about just using her from now on. XD
  17. Probably. XD "This game's plot is garbage, anyway. Might as well make it weird!" XD Oooh, Falcom needs more than just cold water for THAT burn! Speaking of Falcom doing shitty things that are shit, here's something good they did! Ayy, that rhymes! xD Best girl! Without having seen all the characters yet, haha! Also, she is very, VERY strong. See this incredibly terrifying thing that set off my phobia of wasps and hornets (spoilers in case someone else here feels the same way, because this thing... *shudder*)? No damage clear, because Karna is based! *insert Vasavi Shakti joke here* But seriously, gameplay-wise she's like a fast Hummel from Ys 8 fused with Wang Yuanji from Dynasty Warriors 8. Who thought that was a good idea? Because I want to give them an award! xD
  18. Happy 21st birthday, @Armagon! Hope it'll be a good one for ya! Let's just hope her personality holds up to that promise! And she isn't relegated to non-important side character role. xD --- Also, I got around to actually finishing Ys V yesterday, so the only games I have yet to see/play in that series are IX, Seven, and Celceta (the latter of which I will be getting back to next). And what do I think of it? Well... Atelier Sophie, Tales of Symphonia Dawn of the New World, and Fate/Extra (kinda, in this game's case) are all considered to be not great, even black sheep of their respective series, but I enjoyed them all, so to almost no surprise, this game that was so badly received it almost killed its own franchise (alongside internal problems at Falcom at the time, afaik) is one that I actually enjoyed playing. It does have some glaring flaws, which I already went over in my impressions (wonky to useless magic, weird combat that lacks fluidity), and the difficulty is all over the place (the final few bosses are, like, earlygame Ys VIII tier in difficulty, whereas there's an early-midgame boss that is much harder), however, but those didn't exactly cause me to throw the controller in rage or quit the game. Heck, I finished the game, which should tell you something. Granted, it's only 8 hours long, but I have quit games for incredibly petty reasons before, so... yeah. xD Also, something I found quite hilarious is the Isios Sword, that thing that appears for all of one fight in Ys VIII and is then chucked into the ocean, never to be seen again. Here, you find it in a treasure chest without fanfare in the final dungeon, and the description reads "strongest sword ever"... which is very blatantly untrue, as Ys VIII shows (there are plenty of swords that are stronger than the Isios Sword in Ys VIII). Still, I think it's overall a pretty solid experiece, and certainly not the worst thing in the world. Story was pretty good, gameplay was enjoyable, if odd. I also liked the music quite a lot, even if it is different in style compared to the other games in the series. Different does not mean bad, however, and I feel like the bad rep this game gets is... vastly overblown. It had some neat ideas that I would not mind returning to the series someday, especially the "craft your own magic" part. Balance out the elements you get better, don't make everything need Fire, and make magic actually worth using and we're good! Make a remake of this game, Falcom! It needs one!
  19. I imagine their faces might range from utter shock to bemusement. But the whole enter a word to create a spell thing does sound like an interesting concept nonethless! So... first Ubisoft, now Activision-Blizzard. I am surprised by how not surprised I am. I mean, why stop at tax evasion, right? They've been on my list of companies I would never buy games from for years now due to their shady and predatory business practices, but even if they weren't already, now they would be. Ubisoft did the same shit. But yeah, I agree. Hopefully. I'm not holding out much enthusiasm, due to precedents where it was just quietly swept under the rug by the time their next big game came out (Ubisoft), but hope dies last, as they say. Anyway, this gif is funny! Also, that girl's design is neat!
  20. Especially early on, where you can only stab with the sword. Though the hitbox on that... has its own will, so to speak. xD It gets slightly better later when Adol actually swings his sword (though you need a different sword to do that), but it's definitely a far cry from the gameplay later Ys games have. Not bad, like I said, just different! Yep. Some magic looks impressive for the time the game was made in, but the range and/or damage output is actually pretty pathetic on most of it. xD
  21. It is! xD --- Also, @Shrimperor: I did the thing. Out of sheer... I don't even really know the reason... I started playing Ys V yesterday! The SNES version, even. xD Almost 6 hours and I think I might be at the end, or close to it. And I gotta say, this game is... different! Very, very different from every other Ys game I've seen. It's almost a Zelda 1 gameplay meets Final Fantasy 1 story (with the crystals and everything) kinda deal. And the magic system needs some SERIOUS work; most magic is utterly useless, and the animations take about as long as your average FE9 enemy phase to go off (Disclaimer: exaggerated for comedic purposes), but I do like the underlying concept of crafting your own magic out of different combinations of elemental stones. It's just a damn shame you are not allowed to use any magic during boss fights, the one time you might actually want to use it... But the story is interesting and the gameplay is kinda fun (once you get a different sword, that is), so I wouldn't call the game 'bad' by any stretch of the imagination. I have most definitely played worse!
