  1. That actually makes a whole lot of sense. But the way she's portrayed in official art and her class, something tells me she would be this divine, goody two shoes. I can't really see her hating anybody. at best, she would have some resentment.

I agree completely. I keep picturing the trailer, where everyone is calling out for Kamui... "Nii-sama!" and I was like, what about Aqua? Nobody seems concerned about her.

And while she looks innocent, this is the guy who wrote bloody monday. Everyone who looks "good" is a traitor.

    Anyone remember this part?

Boom. Capped in the head. And Aqua has a lot of similarities to her character.

  2. Here's how I understood it, from both the mangas and the games:

Dragons seal their power into their own personal dragon stone, however, they can use other dragon's dragon stones to transform. When they use another dragon's stone, they gain that dragon's abilities, instead of their own. This is why Tiki can use Bantu's dragon stone, but when she does, she is accessing bantu's power, and turns into a fire dragon, instead of a divine dragon. This is why the abilities of a manakete change based on the kind of stone they are using.

In the various mangas, the manakete frequently refer to certain dragonstones as being "theirs," but others as just being "dragon stones."

Half-manakete who can transform are therefore dragons and have their own stones, but can use other stones too.

  3. This guy did Bloody Monday? This is both good and bad.

The original Bloody Monday was great had fantastic plot twists, but the sequels were absolutely terrible.

The main flaws with the sequels were: too much nationalism and too focused on the love interest, who was extremely poorly developed and didn't make much sense.

  4. I'd like to see druids be made a separate class, instead of just replacements for sorcerers.

It might be interesting to see a sort of Templar character. Basically, the equivalent of a paladin, but on foot instead of mounted. Maybe using swords and spears.

  5. The Arcadian dragons, Sophia is one of them. According to the Elder you meet shortly after the desert chapter from heck, the dragons of Arcadia, with the exception of Fae, cannot transform anymore.

Sofia is half dragon, not full dragon. I think Fae was the only pure dragon in Arcadia. This is both from the game and from the manga.

Additionally, the pictures of Arcadia from Athos' description show several dragons in the background. Fae is simply the only true dragon that is encountered.

  6. I'd say start with 4, casual mode will help you get a feel of what you need to do.

and as for persona, start with the handheld ports as they are better than there console counterparts

seriously, start with SMT IV, as it seems the hardcore persona fanbase wants to distance persona from the other smt games as far away as possible and they lack appreciation for the mother(not EarthBound) series. You'll be better off starting with SMT IV.

Yeah, fair warning, SMT IV lacks a lot of the... bells and whistles, I guess, of the other games. The core game is really good, but the production value is a lot lower. Seriously, Nozomi (one of the fan favorite characters) doesn't even have a character portrait.

Unlike the spin offs, which have a lot higher production value, but arguably less gameplay.

If you like Seisen no Keifu, you'll love IV. If you prefer the Tellius series, go with one of the spin offs.

  7. I think the point Random Person was making was that it would be naive to think surrender should be the first option for a "peace loving nation" because your nation will still be lead to ruin. (what country are you from, btw?)

"Speak softly and carry a big stick"

You don't need to start conflicts, just have enough military strength to let your neighbors know you shouldn't be messed with.

True. I mean, just because you're "peace loving" doesn't have to mean that you don't have a military.

It's just that, historically speaking, most "peace loving" nations have not had militaries. The most obvious examples of groups that never started conflicts would be native americans (although they had warriors, they had no formal armies, and most tribes were the essence of peace loving) and monasteries (although they were frequently attacked, monasteries never employed any sort of military protection).

I'm just saying that generally speaking, I've never heard of a historical example of a group considering themselves to be "peace loving" and actually having a military. In the past, "peace loving" was generally considered to be a bad thing. Can you imagine the Romans calling themselves "peace loving?" Or the Germans? Or the Greeks? I mean, many Greek city states didn't even have armies, but they still didn't call themselves "peace-loving."

But if anyone has an example, feel free to share.

BTW, NekoKnight, I keep reading your tagline as saying "Lovely tities... what else do you claim to be?"

  8. The text seems to emphasize "Even among the royalty, the blood of dragons runs especially deep in the veins of our protagonist" or something to that effect, referring to how all the members of the royal family have some amount of dragon blood but only Kamui has enough of it to obtain Manakete powers.

If the royal siblings on both Hoshido and Nohr sides have (minor) dragon blood, maybe they are all distantly related to the same ancestor from which it originates. The Hoshidan queen (knowingly or unknowingly) did things with an unknown man of Nohrian noble origin and the major dragon blood offspring Kamui was conceived. Garon, blinded by his lust for power and conquest, is being manipulated by whoever is behind the eugenics master plan when it comes to kidnapping the child. Presumably the parents are far enough removed from each other on the family tree that it doesn't automatically SCREAM incest, but it is more or less a rehashing of Julius and is what the Dark Prince class is referencing. Could also explain the age rating of the game.

Is this is what you guys are getting at?

Basically, just to reiterate, the point I was trying to make is that Kamui is not a manakete in the sense that Tiki, Gotoh, Xane, Nowi, Nah, etc. are manaketes. In those cases, they are dragons who have assumed human form to avoid going insane. Their true form is a dragon.

Kamui, on the other hand, I think, is either a distant descendant of a dragon human merger,

Or, as I suggested originally in this topic, has never had a dragon ancestor, but rather that his ancestors made some sort of pact in exchange for draconic power, as is the case in the Jugdral arcs.

None of Yurius' ancestors ever were dragons themselves.

Similarly, the avatar in Awakening, I believe was referred to as having "the blood of Grima" but this does not mean that he was literally descended from Grima having a child with a human, but rather that his bloodline made a pact with Grima.

To summarize, it is not that Kamui's family is literally descended from dragons, but that their ancestors made a pact with the sacred dragons and inherited their power.

  9. We can guess that MU's class is obviously a reference to Fire Emblem 4.

There could be even a reference to Altenna just with MU's character.

You were raised by someone else than your family ( Trabant / Nohr ) which wanted you because of glory/power ( Altenna got Holy Blood that allowed her to wield the Gae Bolg / MU can transforms into a dragon )

Yeah, that was one of my favorite subplots, would be interesting to see a shout out to that.

    The others were RNG-screwed.

    Lol.

  10. This again... sigh...

If you love peace, you must disband your army, right? And watch your home burn in the next month. If you love peace of your home, you need to protect it. And large army can help with that.

Also, ninja's not always killers. They are spies too. Information about your potential enemy is useful, if you didn't know that.

I didn't mean to repeat something already said, sorry about that.

Just calm down. I'm not saying that it's weird that they have an army, I'm just saying that its weird they have such a big army.

  11. Given that Kamui's own class is Dark Prince (Julius' class), I could see this perhaps being an extension of that idea.

I didn't even think of that. You're right.

Jugdral had Manaketes in its backstory tho.

Also, Awakening rehashed this concept already thru the Ylissean brand being what gives Chrom access to Falchion. Yet Marth didn't need said blood bond

Also, Robin has the mark of Grima which gives a certain Julius-esque ability.

That said, it's possible, but use of dragonstones = manakete regardless of bloodline.

I'm not saying there are no manaketes, just that dragon blood doesn't mean Kamui is one. Remember, Manaketes are dragons that have turned into humans, not the other way around. They use the dragonstones to turn into their "real" forms.

On the subject of dragonstones, have we seen any images showing Kamui using one? If so, is the word used for dragonstone the same one as usual?

  12. So, with all this talk of bloodlines, and the images of Kamui half-shifting, or whatever he's doing, I think this may just be an expansion of the ideas found in the Jugdral series.

Basically, Kamui has a bloodline which lets him either be possessed by or use the powers of one or more dragons.

So, if after being possessed by Loptyr, Yurius could actually then turn into a dragon, instead of just accessing his power.

I don't have any proof of this, but it would answer some questions.

    Thoughts?

  13. I was under the impression Persona wasn't SMT?

    The official title is:

    Shin Megami Tensei: Persona.

So, yes, it is part of the Shin Megami Tensei series, which in turn is part of the larger Megami Tensei franchise.

It is not, however, part of the main line of games, which goes:

    Shin Megami Tensei

    Shin Megami Tensei II

    Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne

    Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey

    Shin Megami Tensei: IV

So, it is an SMT game, but not one of the main series, it's a spin off.

Point of reference, there are about ten times as many spin off games as there are main series games.

  14. I'm not familiar with Atlus localization but maybe this means we could see SMTxFE this year? It's holiday 2015 for Japan and TBA for everywhere else... Would keep me distracted while we wait for if... But probably won't happen either D:

Unfortunately, I doubt it, because that's the exact same time Persona 5 is coming out, and they just announced today that it's going to release in both NA and Japan in Q4 of this year, so they're probably going to focus all their efforts on that.

That said, if SMTxFE comes out this year, and Atlus handles the localization, we will definitely see it in either January or February. If nintendo handles the localization...... who knows.
