  1. It's not the preorder that saves money. Rather, it's the fact that buying the DLC Pack is cheaper than buying each DLC map individually.
  2. Well, the most practical build would probably be +Str with a speedy sub class like Samurai or Ninja, but that's a different discussion. Dragonstones are pretty situational tbh. The extra bulk is nice, but the inability to double limits your ability to ORKO. Maybe +Mag with a Felicia pair up would help? IDK. However, the dragonstone's damage in attack stance is great, if that's your thing. And going +HP would make you more bulky than going +Def.
  3. Would a +Mag/-Lck Diviner Corrin prefer Felicia or Jakob? Felicia gives more magic and speed which is nice, but Jakob's personal is better and gives more bulk and move.
  4. Breaking Sky isn't that good on Felicia because most of her combat comes from the explosive shuriken that can't proc skills. Ninja is a better class for Corrin anyway, but go +str because ninjas are fast enough.
  5. Yes, unless the two units share the same primary class, in which case they take the secondary. For example, Camilla gets fighter by Buddy Sealling Beruka. The beasts, Mozu, and Azura also give their secondary classes.
  6. So are the C-A bonuses the same as Awakening's? And do daggers give +might like swords do? iirc, the formula is (Child growth rates + non-required parents growth rates)/2
  7. I'm certain that this has been asked before, but what are the weapon rank bonuses in this game? Do S ranks give a significant boost over A?
  8. The class itself is alright, and it's the only class outside of DLC that can hit S tomes. However, Nosferatu is the only dark magic, and it can no longer double or crit or proc skills, so it's much less broken useful than in awakening. The real problem is that two Dark Mages that you get just aren't great units. Shura is good for Hayato for the bulk, not really for the strength. Even if his strength grows, he'll still be stuck at E rank upon promotion, which is no bueno. Just stick to tomes for the most part.
  9. Having Dark Mage as your secondary is fine. You regain your sword rank upon promotion, and 1x seems like a good place to grind up your tome rank. Buddy Sealling any of the other DMs isn't exactly practical, because you'd be reclassing later on, and being stuck at E rank during midgame seems bad. Plus it means that you'd actually have to use and build up a support rank with Odin/Nyx. Dark Mage's biggest problems seems to be speed, but that can be rectified with tonics and a +Spd pair up. Having Diviner as your secondary gives you more speed at the cost of some bulk, but in that case you'd want to end up as a Dark Blood for the sword and tome access.
  10. Samurai is a good choice because you retain your weapon rank and Yato access, get second proc skill with Astra, and you become really dodgy between Swordmaster bonuses, Yato bonuses, and Jakob's personal skill. Ninja is also good because daggers are just really great for 1-2 range (apparently late game Hoshido gets really dense with enemies), and you keep your Yato post promotion. For both samurai and ninja, you probably want a +Strength asset. Magic can work too, you'll need a +Magic asset of course. I've seen people post about how Diviner works well. I'm going to try a Dark Mage build, mostly because I just like Dark Knights. Apparently, +Magic Cavalier is also a good option for Levin Sword use (which isn't available in Hoshido).
  11. Supports work like Awakening's. A+ isn't really a support rank, for there are neither stat bonuses nor conversations. A+ simply allows the unit to reclass into the other's base class using a Buddy Seal. Also, A+ supports are not mutual. For example: Selena can A+ Camilla, but Camilla is still able to A+ Beruka. And no one can A+ the avatar, and the avatar only needs an A support to use a buddy seal (it only works for same gendered units).
  12. I assumed you throw around the term "Mary Sue" too easily, because you threw it around too easily. History time: "Mary Sue" was originally a term used to identify self-insert characters in fanfiction without any flaws. Athena is neither a self-insert character, nor is flawless (she suffers a trail-threatening panic attack merely ten minutes into the game, for starters). In the spoiler text, you just cherry-picked character traits. If you give that arbitrary treatment to any character in any form of fiction, the result would be that every single protagonist is a "Mary Sue". Thus it's a meaningless term. [spoiler=Dual Destinies, and just plot holes in general] Question: if a plot has holes in it, why does that automatically make it bad? The logical flow of a plot is only one ingredient in what makes it good. They didn't reveal the relationship until the last case, so that they could have a point of high suspense and drama at the end. The reveal raises the stakes, and good stories have the highest stakes in the climax. Furthermore, there was no point in the earlier cases where they HAD TO reveal their relationship. Revealing it earlier would've just muddled those cases, resulting in a poorer story. I'm not sure how the last case tying up all plot points is a criticism (plots shouldn't have loose plot points in the end), and the dark age of the law crap is poorly done. But neither of those matter, for those are criticisms of AA5's plot as a whole, not Athena's arc. Oh, and the thing about her not identifying the Phantom earlier: she was never in a situation where she had to analyze Fulbright's emotions, so it's a reasonable that she wouldn't know about his condition until the end. She's still a well-developed, positive example of a female character in fiction, which is still important.
  13. Eh, the writing is all subjective. I felt her arc and personality were endearing, and she definitely has flaws. The term "Mary Sue" is thrown around so much that it has lost all meaning. It now pretty much means "any female character I dislike". EDIT: After reading the OP of the original thread, quality of writing has nothing to do with this, so your comment was unnecessary. To recap the qualifications:
  14. I'm unfamiliar with the previous thread, but Athena Cykes from Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies appears to qualify.
  15. Hard/Classic for all three routes, followed by Lunatic/Classic for all three routes. Hopefully I'll be able to manage playing six FE campaigns in a row lol.
  16. Favorite: The weapon triangle. It adds a nice bit of strategy, and makes certain units better in certain situation. The magic triangle was alright, but most of the time you'd just use a physical unit. I like how Fates expanded the triangle so that more weapons are included. Least favorite: Biorhythm. I hate it when units randomly have low hit for no reason. It's not that bad in FE9, but just awful in FE10.
  17. Is this really true? Everything else that I have seen indicates that you can buy this after reaching chapter six of version that you bought.
  18. Your response ignored the question. I didn't ask how the third path is better than the others, I asked how it invalidates them. Each path is still it's own separate experience. People don't always play the best version of something. You could argue that FE12 is a better version of FE11, but FE12's existence, in and of itself, is not a reason to no longer play FE11. At the end of the day, each route has enough content to be it's own separate entity. Because some content is shared, the other routes are offered as DLC at a reduced price, as opposed to offered as a whole retail game.
  19. It baffles me that people claim that Hoshido/Nohr paths are incomplete because you can't access the other shop. That's such a tiny, insignificant thing! What a weird place to draw a line in the sand. Is a game like Shadow Dragon incomplete because it doesn't have reaver weapons? Can someone explain to me how the third route invalidates the others? I understand that it has more characters and better shops, but that doesn't mean that the other paths are irrelevant. Lastly, what is the alternative? What would a "fairer" option look like? It doesn't matter if you think that this current method is unfair, if it is still be most fair option.
  20. The easiest thing to do in the world is to shit on something someone likes. Don't do the easy thing.
  21. Remember that this is the guy who cut his pay in half when they failed to meet their fiscal goals. We lost a great man.
  22. Does make FE: Fates the last Iwata Asks? Brb crying
  23. I was just about to start a topic about this. This is incredibly sad. I know he's been having health problems for a while now, but I didn't this coming. Who's going to take over now?
  24. lol, they have to be separated because they are separate games. Packaging them together is selling two games as one, and as I previously said, is basically giving away a game for free. It's only fair if they are separated. However, that's not the point of this thread. The point of the thread is whether or not the third path is fair. And it is fair, or at least it is the most fair option. It is designed to be the bonus route that you enjoy more after playing one of the others. It's only natural that it should only be available after you play your first route. Who knows, maybe in a few months time they'll pull a New Super Luigi U and give this it's own physical release, but it makes no sense for them to do it right after the other two routes released.
