  1. It's far too early to judge the reception to the children this time around. It could still be received well by the larger western audience.
  2. If the two versions were complete, then why do you say that Hoshido and Nohr should be packaged together? What you suggest is basically IS giving you one campaign for free. They have no reason to do that.
  3. I wouldn't blame it on it being rushed. Balance issues are not unique to this game. FE4 and FE10 are also horribly imbalanced. Character imbalance is just something you have to accept.
  4. Yes, yes, and yes! Tearing Shadows and Dark Emperor Hardin are also fantastic. FE12 has some amazing tunes.
  5. I don't know why the title says "miss" when they aren't gone. Ballistae are best when they are actually useful. The Tellius games really dropped the ball on this because of the fixed might, as ballista barely did any damage to your party. Thracia did ballistae the best because of fatigue. You really didn't want to put you units in their range if you didn't have to. The Ballistician class was cool, too. 1-2 range bows really should be a thing, so that archers are useful on enemy phase. However, FE10's crossbows were terrible. I understand why 1-2 range bows should be weak, but at least have them run off of the unit's strength. This will let them be mildly useful, unlike FE10's crossbows. Edit: Oh, and onagers can go and stay gone.
  6. How is this unfair to the buyers? It is hilarious that anyone would think that the Hoshido/Nohr paths are unfinished. How is buying both versions pointless? Yes, you can get most (not all) characters on the third route, but the character balance is different. Most of the maps are different. The story is different. So many people have cried and said that this is unfair, without saying why it is unfair. Furthermore, my earlier point still stands. What is the alternative? It does not matter if you think the way this was handled was bad, because this is still the least bad option.
  7. What exactly is the alternative to having the third route be DLC? Have it free included with the game? That's not fair to the developers. They put work into a whole other campaign, and they should get paid for their work. Give the third route have it's own physical release? That makes no sense. It's designed so that you enjoy it more after playing one of the other campaigns. Furthermore, if it truly is better than the other routes it would cannibalize their sales. So how should have it been handled? This seems to be the fairest way to me.
  8. Best: Genealogy of the Holy War. You have to admit that it sounds cool. It also reflects both story and gameplay, which is cool. Worst: Blazing Sword. Not only is it predictable for a medieval game, but FE7 is barely about Durandal. It doesn't make sense.
  9. Pieri and Lazward, who come alongside Odin, come at level 16 with decent bases. They'll still be underleveled, but it isn't nearly as bad. I also think it's strange that in chapter 14 you get both Arthur and Charlotte with Arthur at 9 and Charlotte at 10. It's weird that they would dump two underleveled of the same class together. It's like the game is telling you to only use one of them.
  10. If there's enough gameplay content to warrant dlc or an increased price, there should dlc or an increased price. Period. So, the story was unsatisfactory? That's a separate issue. It would be false to claim that each route is incomplete. There is zero reason to complain that IS made three games for you to play and are letting you play two of them for a reduced price. Don't cry when someone buys you ice cream. And it's natural that the third route should be enticing. They want people to buy their product, after all.
  11. I don't see the appeal of Adventurer either. Bow Knight gives him more strength, which he needs, and having a Bow Knight with Move+1 seems cool.
  12. Escort missions are always a pain in the ass, but I didn't find the SS one to be that bad. If you upgrade the bow all the way you can kill every enemy long before they can get you. And if you fail in the volcano, you restart in the volcano, so it does have at least one checkpoint.
  13. I'm not sure why people are hyped about making sets around Defensive Formation. Yes, it's good for sets that can't double, but why would you want to build a set that can't double in the first place? The dragonstone isn't that good. My first build for Kamui will be +Spd -Res. I'd rather not do minus luck because the luck penalty is pretty severe. The loss of res won't be felt because Kamui doesn't have good res anyway.
  14. I know that this was asked a few pages back, but I don't think it got an answer. How exactly are the pair up bonuses nerfed in this game? Does raising support level raise the pair up bonuses like in Awakening?
  15. People need to stop complaining about character designs. It's fine to not like a design, but you don't need to tell the world that you dislike it, and it is unbelievably petty to boycott a game or a particular character because of their design. Unless it is something actually offensive (like a character decorated in swastikas or something) you can ignore it, and it by no way lowers the value of a game.
  16. The Ace Attorney series features spirit mediums and people very special eyes and ears. It isn't really concerned with realism. The point of the game isn't to simulate real life investigations, it is to tell a story. It only makes sense that the games are mostly linear.
  17. Don't be afraid to press every statement in a testimony. Even if you don't get any useful information, you will probably get some funny dialogue. However, there will be times where you are penalized for pressing, but you will be told so by the judge ahead of time. Oh, and avoid spoilers, obviously.
  18. I'll give a couple: 1) Final Fantasy IV is the best Final Fantasy: I love having characters that do their own thing and are not customizable or interchangeable. The story is good, and not "out there" like many other FF games. 2) Skyward Sword is the best Zelda game: The controls are fantastic, and it has the best dungeon in the series. 3) X/Y are the best Pokemon games: You can get nearly 450 pokemon before the elite four. Enough said. 4) The Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games are good and fun: The moves and type matchups makes them still feel like pokemon games, which is good because main pokemon games have gotten very stale. These are a nice change of pace. 5) Mario Kart 8 is the best Mario Kart game (not sure how unpopular that is): The tracks are fantastic, 200cc is amazing, and the item balance issues are exaggerated. 6) Final Fantasy VI is overrated: I dislike the magicite system, and midway through the game everything stops and becomes sidequests. 7) Nothing is better than the Ace Attorney series: Does this really warrant an explanation? 8) Majora's Mask isn't fun to play: Dungeons are boring, and the three day cycle is annoying.
  19. Yeah, the kids in this game were added for pure fanservice this time around, instead of have pseudo narrative merit. There's nothing inherently wrong with that, unless they really skew the character balance, so there's no point in over thinking it. Just accept it as it is.
  20. How does support rank affect attack stance and guard stance?
  21. This probably better classified under "inconsistent character writing". It makes her a hypocrite, and I would never try to put a positive spin on it. But if calling it "character development" helps you sleep at night, go right ahead.
  22. I'm not a fan of FE10's plot at all. It's as laughably bad as Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, which commonly makes me refer to FE10 as Path of Radiance: The After Years. The blood pact is the elephant in the room. Not only does it give no explanation for its existence, but it makes me wonder why wars even exists in the first place. Begnion has, for all intents and purposes, a chemical weapon that can be used to destroy a country. It's obviously easy enough to dupe people into signing it, considering that it happens three freaking times. If Begnion really wanted to destroy the laguz alliance, why wouldn't they just trick them into signing one? It's too convenient for them not to use it. But no, it is only ever used for blackmail purposes, which is really squandering its potential. The idea in general is incredibly stupid, and it seemed like they just wanted to make up a reason for Ike to fight Micaiah without regarding quality. Next, the villains are cartoonishly evil. They have no depth at all and are assholes for the sake of being assholes. The senators are a major step down from Ashnard, who actually thought that he was making the world a better place with his actions. Furthermore, they trivialize Ashnard by reducing him to just a pawn of some complicated and ill-contrived scheme, which is never fully explained. At the end, it felt like they just randomly decided to put all of the blame onto Sephiran just to have a surprise factor which didn't work. They also take Naesala, a gray character, and trivialize his grayness with the blood pact again. Micaiah's actions in part three also make no sense to me. She was put in a lose-lose situation but for no reason chooses to take the morally wrong path (instead of fighting Begnion), and is never really punished for it. For the whole of part one she always makes the morally right decision regardless of the negative consequences that my occur (sparing Jarod in 1-9 is an example of this), and she is furiously determined to protect innocent Daein citiznes. However in part three she is perfectly fine with dumping oil on the apostle's army, supposedly killing hundreds and nearly killing the apostle. The apostle's army has done nothing wrong, but she's perfectly willing to sacrifice those innocent lives to save innocent Daein lives. The worst part is that nothing bad occurs to her because of this. Yes, Tibarn pretends to kill Sothe, but how is this punishment? Hell, (correct me if I'm wrong) she doesn't even feel regret for any of the horrible things that she does. And this is supposed to be the protagonist! Ugh. Of course all of this could have been prevented if the apostle's army was smart enough to travel to Begnion through Begnion, rather than taking a detour through Daein. Pelleas is also annoying. Everything bad happens because he is unbelievably dumb. It would have been infinitely more interesting if he was actually in the senate's pocket, and the whole liberation effort in part one would be for naught. That would make a much better and more believable surprise villain. Furthermore, it would teach Micaiah the flaws of blind loyalty, which is sorely absent from her arc. I could go on about how they portray laguz as crazed killers, or how Zelgius' arc make no sense, or about Ike's unbearable Mary Sue-ness, but what's the point? Oh well. The plot is not entirely bad, though. I liked Skrimir's arc. Part one was generic, but there was nothing inherently wrong wtih it. Part two was decent, though rushed, but it was disappointing when it was not relevant in the big picture. It's easy to compare this plot to FE13's as both are poor, but the main problem with Awakening's is that it doesn't explain any crazy thing that happens. It makes absolutely zero sense, but at least it is enjoyable on the first playthrough due to sheer surprise factor. FE10 hits you on the head with it's long-winded and flawed plot that it feels like a chore to sit through. But probably the worst part is that I could excuse all of this if the game was fun to play; sadly, that is not the case.
  23. I don't think anyone here was comparing Mario Kart 8 and Smash to any FE game. Of course those games sell better, and they will probably always sell better. People were bringing up MK and Smash as examples to prove that the Wii U is selling well, which it isn't.
