  1. This is why I prefer Pent. Gave Erk a chance, only had 9 magic upon promotion and had roughly 14 at 20/12. Inexcusable.
  2. Canas looks the coolest. Obviously, my reasoning is profound and intricate. Except not.
  3. In terms of Baron viability: Lukas > Forsyth > Valbar. Lukas had no trouble taking hits since his defense was the second-highest on my endgame team (second only to that of Alm's, but I overleveled him by a fair bit). His speed became somewhat of an issue in the late-game, and his resistance needs a massive amount of work (though I mitigated this somewhat with the Hexlock Shield). His strength is high enough that he seldom needs to carry a named weapon and his bulk is best utilized to tank volleys from distant bow knights as well as frontal assaults on chokepoints. Compared to Forsyth, Lukas had better defense, skill, and strength, and his speed became less of a problem when fighting monsters since revenants and bonewalkers are often slow as molasses anyway. Forsyth had more balanced stats overall, but I feel this actually detracted him from his usefulness as a tank, whereas Valbar had lower stats than both Lukas and Forsyth to begin with. Judging from my experience with Lukas, I would give him a 6/10 without an item to combat his low resistance and a 7.5/10 with one. He has a niche against physical units, and his weakness to magic is correctable. Gray is excellent, but as stated above, he's only sensational in the mercenary class line. His high skill and speed was a boon to his utility as front-line fighter and his poor resistance was vastly improved when he promoted to dread fighter. However (and I don't know if this is just me or not), his strength turned out rather low, which seems contrary to his high strength growth. He'd often have to rely on critting to secure kills against most late-game enemies, and I feel that Kamui made a better dread fighter overall when looking in terms of raw stats. However, Gray's supports with Tobin and Kliff provided him with better staying power and utility than Kamui. Overall, I'd give Gray an 8/10 as a mercenary and no more than 5/10 as anything else. He really only thrives as a dread fighter.
  4. Zeiss is better for Ilia since his slightly higher strength and defense growths will serve him better against the pegasi. Sacae is full of bows, and I don't think I need to elaborate as to why bringing too many fliers there is a bad idea.
  5. I hadn't thought of Invoke. Thank you! Also, I do have two mage rings, so hopefully that could serve me well.
  6. I figure that the solution to this would be just a classic case of grinding and better planning, but... Postgame (Act 6)
  7. Local albino sans red eyes has a pet bird that turns out to be a dark goddess whose sister's alarm went off a few centuries too early. Also, some people get turned to stone because they waged war against the furries.
  8. I'd say figurines and a prop of Falchion. Yep, I'm that extra.
  9. Enjoy poetry? I write it. It's been a significant fixture in my life for quite some time now.
  10. I'm currently on Act 4. Favorites Python: He's hysterical, if a bit lackadaisical. He definitely has an ulterior motive that I've yet to figure out. Kamui: He's just so... cheery. I don't know. That cheesy grin he cracks when the battle forecast is in his favor always puts me in a good mood. I can't describe it. Mathilda: She's beautiful, badass, and compassionate. Also, that voice is silky-smooth! Est: God, she's so adorable. She desperately wants to impress her sisters and peers and her unwavering devotion to them is best represented through her supports with Palla and Catria. Saber: Dad!Merc is a bit of an oddball. He struck me as aloof and indifferent at first, but he quickly became one of my favorite characters due to his rationally-oriented thinking. He seems like he has the coolest head in the army. Gray: Real laid-back fella. I'd have a drink or two with him. Alm: I genuinely enjoy how he oscillates between being dry and sardonic yet serious and loyal to his army. He carries a heavy burden on his shoulders, and I suspect that his sense of humor helps to minimize the stress, even if only a little. Deen: Arguably a more controversial choice seeing as he's surly edgelord material dialed up to 11. But at the end of the day, he's wed only to his duty, and I find that to be an admirable quality in warfare. The less you're able to be receptive to, the easier it is to focus on the objective goals of war. Least Favorites Clive: You're real boring, man. Sorry. I'd say you're a good unit, but Mathilda outclasses you badly on my file, and she looks a hell of a lot better when kicking ass. Outside of combat, Clive is as stale as they come. The game makes it seem like he has such a significant role yet it feels like I hardly know a thing about him. His character just isn't memorable. At least Forsyth has a sense of humor. Genny: I'm kind of put off by her excessive humility and quietness. Feels like a trope that's been done and redone over and over - the quiet cleric with impeccable manners. As with Clive, nothing is really revealed about her judging from the supports she has in my game. Fernand: What an insufferable, haughty prick. He's a royal boot-licker turned coward if I have ever seen one. Berkut: Same as Fernand. Spoiled commander who clearly is only after his own self-interest. He's also rash, which is perhaps one of the worst character traits a commander could possess. Delthea: I hate that she's such a good unit, because she's a bratty shitchild. She bears the telltale signs of a future pathological narcissist, though I will tentatively give her some brownie points for her enriching supports with Luthier.
  11. As early as possible. You'll soon find that growth rates in this game are much lower than in previous ones, and you'll want to reap the benefits of new class abilities sooner rather than later.
  12. I met my s/o on Tumblr last year. I thought her art and reblogged content were both interesting, so I sent her an incredibly dumb pun as a conversation opener, and it rapidly evolved from there. We'd Skype for hours and hours, but eventually we migrated to Rabbit because the latter platform enables you to watch a TV show or movie with someone else on a shared browser. Initially, my intent was only friendship, but we quickly realized we had a staggering amount in common, ranging from our favorite TV shows and movies to the games we like to play (ironically, FE is the exception; she's never played it!). Hell, even our birthdays are nearly aligned - I'm exactly 364 days older than she is. We're currently 2,200 miles apart, but since we've both recently graduated from college, we're looking into moving closer together within the next year. I second the notion that an ideal partner should also be your best friend. Relationships aren't exclusively about romance and intimacy, though in my experience they are indeed crucial components to successful ones. At the end of the day, you can come home to them and relish the fact that they're simply there in your life. You don't have to be doing anything as long as you're together. And while long-distance relationships complicate the notion even further, the advent of internet-based dating and social media have all but made this trend commonplace. Really, if you put yourself out there and be nobody but yourself, someone will surely find their way into your life, and they might one day consider it to be one of the best highlights of theirs.
  13. My s/o hates how I look with facial hair, so I shave on the regular. Mine never comes in evenly and it gets unbearably scratchy after a while.
  14. Hoenn. I'm well aware that someone will make the oft-quoted "too much water argument" somewhere down the line, but the geographical diversity of the region coupled with its overall beauty and decent route design render it an exciting adventure time and time again. My favorite route is Route 113, where the ash falls like snow. Also, you can catch Skarmory on it.
  15. FE6: Zeiss. He turned out exceedingly well, though I do wish he had a couple more points of speed. The one time I used Fir she turned out to be an absolute monster, but I'm unsure if she's typically considered a "guilty pleasure" in the community. FE7: Canas, Nino, Rath, and Heath. FE8: Ewan and Marisa. FE9: I always use Ilyana no matter what unless she truly begins to lag behind. Her only deficit is her speed in my experience. FE10: Refer to FE9. FE13: Virion. "T'was a thing of beauty!" FE14: Saizo looks epic, so I always feel compelled to use him.
  16. FE6: I like using Jerrot/Zealot over Marcus (though the latter is definitely useful in his own right) as an auxiliary mounted unit for the early-midgame since his bases aren't bad, though his low growth rates make him suffer later on. That's about when I replace him with Percival, since he does everything Jerrot does but far more effectively and efficiently. Plus, his resistance is respectable for a mounted melee unit. On normal mode I sometimes use Echidna and Igrene for a few chapters as well, though neither turn out to be as good as their unpromoted counterparts. FE7: Pent and Harken are excellent units. The latter is a panacea to an RNG-screwed Raven whereas Pent already comes with impressive stats fresh out of the box. I also use Jaffar for the few chapters he's available in, since his offensive capabilities are decent for a class that doesn't often hit too hard.
  17. I like my lords to err on the arcane side of things. A dark-magic wielding one would undoubtedly encourage some intriguing backstory, especially if that particular brand of magic was as rare as it was on Tellius. That being said, light and anima would prove to be fairly redundant in my opinion - I'm looking at you, Micaiah - but a lord with a foundation in dark magic shrouded in mystery would interest me. One caveat, though: no edgelords.
  18. I always have to grind at least a little bit before Chapter 14 in FE6. Fog of War, a time limit (for the gaiden chapter), limited movement, and having to keep a certain unit with terrible stats alive in order to unlock the gaiden chapter. If you haven't trained up or promoted at least a couple of good flyers and/or mages, you're toast. Chapter 21 is also a headache because of the sheer number of wyverns that spawn. Also, in FE10, the penultimate chapter in part 3 (13 I think) is a nightmare on any mode higher than easy for me.
  19. FE6: Oujay and Zeiss, in my experience. Also, I don't know if Fir counts, but on my most recent playthrough I had a Fir with great stats. 17 strength, 16 defense, capped speed and skill at 20/12, I think. Her only real flaw was HP. FE7: Legault, Fiora, and Heath. I had a solid Rath once too, but I'm biased due to my love for nomads. FE8: I guess Marisa? Anyone is salvageable (for the most part) in this game if you throw them in the Tower. FE9: Tormod turns amazing if you elect to train him. I also like to use Muarim. FE10: Aran tanks like no other. I had a couple of good runs with Leonardo as well, despite the fact that Shinon is better by far in this game.
  20. I know that Legault mentions in a support with Nino that he's in his 20s (most likely in the ballpark of 26-29), but that's about the extent of my knowledge on confirmed character ages. Some of them were altered when the game was released in the west.
  21. If you're not using Kent, I'd use Lowen. Sain supports well with Kent, but if Kent got the short end of the RNG stick, then Lowen complements Sain's lack of defense well, though the two don't share a support. Personally, I'm not a fan of Sain's growths, but he's definitely serviceable. Lowen's bulkier but slower.
  22. I think Lot makes the best warrior in the game, but that isn't really saying much since you have better axe and bow users alike. I've found that Gonzales, Dieck, and even Geese almost always turn out better than Lot. His speed and offensive capabilities don't really cut it, and although he isn't axe-locked, having bows as a secondary weapon renders him unable to counter until he switches back to an axe. That being said, as mentioned above, he'd make a good unit to bring into Chapter 21 if you elect to train him, since axes and bows are a boon in this chapter.
  23. Lalum's route nets you an extra arena and a much better Gonzales. I wouldn't recommend going with route B unless you really want Elphin and Bartre. The downside is that I've found the A route to be a little more difficult, but not unreasonably so.
