  1. @Rex Glacies Do you find Roman or Norse mythology more enticing?
  2. Realistically, we'd probably all be villagers. I'd probably be a druid or a sage. If I felt exceptionally daring, mage knight.
  3. Quiz 11 dealt me Hawkeye. I'm blind in one eye, so that can't possibly be right...
  4. Likely the Mage Knight from FE8 for me, which is comparable to the Dark Knight from FE13. In my opinion, mounted casters are about the raddest thing ever conceived, with Dark Fliers coming in at a somewhat close second.
  5. Favorite: A three-way tie between Hectorcopter, "What happened to Dorcas?", and "Disgusting." Least favorite: Thotmila and anything to do with Arthur or Faye.
  6. 1. Brave Lucina (lead unit, S-rank summoner support) 2. Ike 3. Julia 4. Roy 5. Hawkeye 6. Merric 7. Elincia 8. Seliph 9. Oscar 10. Katarina 11. Soren 12. Black Knight 13. Cordelia (upgraded from 4) 14. Azura (Performing Arts)
  7. I usually play during off times at work. Tack on 12, I got BK!
  8. If I get any more of Henry and Florina, I'm charging them for rent.
  9. Started playing just under a week ago. I haven't started upgrading 4*s yet as I'm focusing all my stamina on the trials, but here are the 5*s I pulled: 1. Brave Lucina (lead unit, S-rank summoner support) 2. Ike 3. Julia 4. Roy 5. Hawkeye 6. Merric 7. Elincia 8. Seliph 9. Oscar 10. Katarina 11. Soren I'll update this when I receive more cough Black Knight cough!
  10. I recently began playing just a few days ago, but my ID is 3588087195. Nickname is Moogle. Obviously, my team is nowhere near serious, but I have a tanky Brave Lucina as my lead unit. I'm mainly just looking to fill my friend roster up and gather some build ideas.
  11. Sigurd, Lyn, and Ike are all up there for me. Sigurd's impulsive, but I like his strength and admire his resolve. He's fit to be a leader despite his shortcomings. Lyn remains humble and kind despite the inexplicable hardship she faces. Not many lords can say the same. Finally, Ike is a favorite of mine because he eschews the stiffness of nobility and prefers to seek out valor on his own terms. His loyalty seems more out of gratitude rather than obligation, and his sense of independence is strongly palpable. His common upbringing also enables him to know the value of hard work.
  12. Seeing as I just played through the game once again, here's my two cents. Feel free to disagree: You really could do worse than Micaiah, both character-wise and stat-wise. Nolan and Boyd are about even for me, with the former being more balanced. Don't bother with Laura, Meg, or Fiona. The latter two should go without saying. Gatrie is probably the better marshall out there, since his speed usually seems to be somewhat passable once the endgame rolls around. I agree with the low usefulness of Tauroneo, and I haven't really cared to use Brom. Mounted units. Titania, Oscar, Kieran, and Geoffrey have all been pretty good for me, as has Makalov. Astrid's not that great and Fiona is garbage. Nephenee... hoo boy. I know the consensus seems to be to not use her, but she's honestly pretty incredible if you want a sentinel that functions more like a trueblade. She's solid on normal mode, though you'll need to be sure she can avoid more than she can tank, since she doesn't do the latter very well. That being said, I have had a defense-blessed Neph to great results. Moreover, she comes with Wrath straight out of the box, which is a useful failsafe if she's ever out of healing range. Sadly, Vantage + Wrath isn't quite what it was in Path of Radiance, since the former skill procs at a percentage equal to your speed stat. This roughly translates to one in three fights where Neph is defending as opposed to all the time. Aran's good, but his speed causes him far too many issues near the endgame. Haven't used Danved. Speaking of trueblades, Zihark and Mia have given me the best results. Lucia is trash, Edward's too glass cannon-y for my taste. His speed doesn't come through as well, either. Stefan's alright but that luck really hurts him, plus his availability is low. Haar's an aerial warship. Slow, but bulky. He's usable in the endgame, but Jill will trounce him in speed, and speed is useful to have in the Tower. I would say that Soren is objectively the best archsage, but personal bias usually has me using Ilyana. She's incredibly useful against the dragon laguz in the Tower. Tormod is only decent in Part 1, but when you get him back in Part 4 he's so vastly underleveled that it's not worth trying to salvage him at all. I don't typically use Calill. Bastian is lulz bad and should change his name to Badstian. I agree with the above on laguz. The royals, Skrimir, maybe Mordecai. I've had a pretty solid run with Ranulf too but that's about it. The hawks are very hit or miss for me. Mordy's a total tank, but that speed is torturous. A personal intrigue of mine is to use at least one marksman even though they suffer from can't-retaliate-while-defending syndrome and don't have the best stats or class skill. Nevertheless, I like their offensive capability - being able to attack from three spaces away essentially gives you a free kill (stats permitting) unless the foe is using a longbow. Shinon is definitely the best marksman, though I had a solid Rolf one playthrough. Leonardo is a joke. Don't use the dragons for combat; use them for their innate skills. White Pool and Blood Tide are both very useful to have, as is Night Tide if your defenses are lacking.
  13. Mine usually ends up in the ballpark of... 5) Marcia 4) Kieran 3) Jill 2) Oscar 1) Ike Pretty predictable imo. Sometimes I'll have Soren or Ilyana competing for #5, but I tend to shift mages to healing duty after promotion. They still blast the shit out of whoever they face, but they don't typically see the front lines due to me shifting them a little further back.
  14. I forgot how much I like Lucius. He's not just a glass cannon. He's a glass nuke. I also forgot about Merlinus in FE6. Without a reliable way to level up, he's just a waste of a slot.
  15. Going strictly by the chronology of the series, Genealogy should be up next. I need a remake of those continent-sized megamaps sooner than I need a reminder of my age via a remake of a GBA game that I practically grew up playing.

    Hello

Welcome, welcome! I'm a pretty casual player myself. I grew up around the series with the whole GBA-era permadeath feature, but it's refreshing to play casually when you're trying to relax. I hope you enjoy it here!
  17. It's no small wonder I call Moulder Swolder.
  18. Yes. Spectacular. You amaze me, Mangs. In all seriousness, I've been looking for something new to play. Perhaps this will tide me over.
  19. Best FE6: Rutger, Miledy, Dieck, Alan, Lance, Percival FE7: Hector, Raven, Oswin, Kent, Pent, Sain, Ninian/Nils, Athos (for the one applicable chapter he's in) FE8: Seth, Ephraim, Gerik, Tana, Cormag, Duessel (on Eph's route, otherwise he's pretty lackluster) Worst FE6: Roy Wendy, Sophia, Dayan, Juno, Ward FE7: Karla, Renault, Wallace, Isadora FE8: Knoll, Amelia, Syrene, Rennac
  20. Moulder's high CON helps him wield heavier tomes without penalty as a sage. He also makes a passable bishop, but I think anima takes better advantage of his low magic growth.
  21. The issue with politicians is that they tend to be inherently self-serving. The U.S. is a superpower, and as such, the natural inclination seems to be to pass legislation that emphasizes that position. There are a lot of things we don't need to be doing, though. For starters, we don't need our nose in everything that happens under the sun, among plenty other issues. The country isn't perfect. No country is. Yes, the government does possess the most direct power, and I do believe that their decisions mostly border on inane and selfish. However, it's also at the behest of our citizens - we elect these bozos into power, and we have to face the consequences. But there's a lot you can do in the U.S. that you can't do elsewhere in the world. I can think of a few countries that try to prohibit their citizenry from even the most fundamental of freedoms, such as press, speech, and peaceful public protest. That doesn't mean you should take the country at face value, though. Our politics are usually lolitics, sure, but we do have some bright, intelligent, decent people in this country. They're just underrepresented because the majority power right now is rooted in principles of conservatism and antiquity. I honestly don't think this consciousness is going to last. Most conservatives in this country are older people who grew up during the Boomer and Gen X generations and earlier. The general attitude towards young people, I think, is more on the moderate or liberal scale, because we're all but realizing that this agenda isn't tipping in our favor at all. So, come 2020 or later, I think we'll see a general shift towards progressive ideas over the course of several years to decades. It'll be a slow burn, and of course the overall consensuses of the people are subject to change overtime, but that's just my take on the subject as someone who has participated in every election since 2012 and makes a usually concerted effort to educate himself about the political climate. I could be wrong about everything, but as with any other country, we're continually in a transient state of change.
  22. I wouldn't worry too much about what units to use for a first playthrough. The only surefire way to weed out your favorites is to try them all and see how they fare in the long run. Your first playthrough of the game isn't that difficult as long as you're playing defensively. I don't believe any chapters have time constraints (at least in Eliwood's story), so unless you want a good tactics ranking, I would take the time to familiarize yourself with everything and take things turn by turn. There will be some instances where moving quickly will be ideal (such as when recruiting a certain character), but overall you don't have to rush through the game. If you want advice on what units tend to turn out the best in my experience, I would go with any or all of the cavaliers, obviously all three lords, the pegasus knights, Raven, and a few others. Just about anyone is viable if RNG is in their favor. Enjoy your experience! FE7 is one of my favorite games in the series.
  23. I don't tend to wake up until noon when I'm off work/grad school so Breakfast: Cereal, yogurt, or fruit. Often I chop banana and granola and put it in my cereal. When I was doing my undergrad I often went to coffee shops for lox and cream cheese on an everything bagel and coffee. I always drink black coffee. And of course, sometimes I have eggs or a pancake. Rarely bacon, though I do like it. Lunch: wut Dinner: I love seafood, so it's usually that or chicken with a vegetable and rice or potatoes. Recently it's been turkey or tuna sandwiches, though. I'm too lazy top cook some nights. xD
  24. I've always wondered how I'd respond to topics like this, but in spite of the vast amount of OCs I've come up with over the years, this hasn't yielded much fruit. However, if I was personally a character in the franchise? I'd probably say dumb, ironic things like: "Oh, good mourning." "Squeal now, rodent." "Hey, your wounds match your armor!" "I must axe you a question..." "Dinner for crows, coming right up!" "Was that your jugular? ...Oh well." "Hello, corpsie!" Yeesh. I'm worse than I thought.
  25. This is why I prefer Pent. Gave Erk a chance, only had 9 magic upon promotion and had roughly 14 at 20/12. Inexcusable.
