Self-reflection is good, and articulating it in writing helps. Just make sure you follow it up.

Tier List Ideas, and why they fail
Parrhesia replied to tacticsfan999's topic in General Fire Emblem
I've always thought of efficiency as basically how to reduce the time of the playthrough most. That means going quickly, but above all avoiding resets. -
Extremely Frustrated with 2-1 BEXP. Need Help
Parrhesia replied to Chopstickwarfare's topic in Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
Just give up on the BEXP. It is not worth the stress it is causing you, and everyone but the Dawn Brigade get more than enough anyway. -
Please keep low-effort threads to FFTF, and in general try only posting threads that other people can interact with in some way.

Deirdre/Diadora was a horrible Mom to Seliph/Celice
Parrhesia replied to LyonDidNothingWrong's topic in NES and SNES Era
And like... it was in a castle. This is FE4, not 5, your 'face' units do not represent your entire IC force. There would have been guards. Manfroy's just written terribly and has complete agency over the plot, which he only sporadically decides to use.- 20 replies

I fairly directly warned you to cut down on topics like this. The next in quick succession will be a warn.

Who are your top 10 dlc picks you want
Parrhesia replied to kirbyrockykid3724's topic in Super Smash Bros.
Re: Kiryu of Yakuza, I've heard it's canon that he'll never be added to any fighter just because the series director feels it's incredibly important he never hits a woman, in any IP, anywhere, under any pretext. Of course, if you don't care and want him in anyway, hey, more power. Was just interesting trivia. Re: this thread's existence, while I'm going to leave this and the others up because I feel, well, we're here now - there really didn't need to be four separate threads on the same approximate concept in a very short space of time. Please try not to crowd the discussion board with further topics on the same concept. -
Moved to Let's Play / Streams. Also, as an advisory, the way you've formatted it has ended up with a white background that shows up starkly against the dark theme. It's still readable, but just looks a little off.

If the streamer directly asks for help, sure. But backseaters are insufferable. Especially like. I watch a lot of TheViper, who is the best Age of Empires 2 player in the world. He's done playthroughs of all the campaigns, and people backseat him during that. When in any doubt, just... don't.

Is this game still worth the install?
Parrhesia replied to DarkSage861's topic in Fire Emblem Heroes
FEH is in a better place now than it's ever been. -
Given that over half the replies to the thread have been reported, the desired topic is evidently too narrow to warrant discussion, and thus a place on the board.

As ever, there's an AZ comic about it. Still. When it's a crit, that's tough luck. But if you're setting up your enemy phase to destroy swathes of enemies, you need to take into account all the attacks coming your way. The only issue is that enemies are weak enough that the player even thinks that taking on everyone at once is gonna go fine - I give FE15 zombies a pass for this because they're just so reliably weak and reliably murdered, so the calculations do work out pretty clearly. But no, it doesn't bother me at all, and I don't think it's a problem.

I adore Byleth, but she's really not much of an avatar. I'd rather you weren't able to set her name, speaking as someone who's changed her name every run. It sets up expectations she isn't designed to meet. Nah, if they do avatars here on out I'd rather they lean into it more with more RPG Decision Making (tm). But if not, I'm entirely at peace with just having a viewpoint character with a settled personality.

Would they be allowed to live in The UK?
Parrhesia replied to James Marshall's topic in Serious Discussion
A low-effort closed discussion. Please keep higher standards in mind for Serious Discussion, especially given the context of your posting history. -
Yeah I'm not sure why this thread exists today, given that the talking points are from 2015.

Please stop making topics that don't extend past 'how good / shit is this particular instance of a unit'. It provokes no discussion besides 'yea' or 'nah' or 'check the average stats on the site'. The next will come with a warning for spam.

Rebalance by taking away something's identity sucks. It's like when hacks try to make armour knights good by giving them good resistance and normal movement speed. If you get hyperfixated on that then every unit will just feel the same. So, no - Close Counter was okay, and I'm actually okay with FE2/15 since bows were more specialising in range generally (high strength and versatile range at the expense of all your other stats sucking was actually a great way to handle archery), but 'bows are just good handaxes' (or 'bows have a handaxe', for that matter) is not only trash design, but boring. Make them better within the bounds of their limitations. I like universal 2-3 range, and FE7x's idea of 'WTD at 1-range, WTA at 2-range, WTN at 3-range, and promoted foot archers have 2-3 range with everything' felt like a good solution.

Are you at a point of the game where you need the power boost now just to survive? Does the game go long enough that 20/20 is a realistic goal? Going in blind, I'd probably still say promoting around level 15 is right in most cases. 10 for healers, obviously.

Grey tomes are special in large part because they are rare. It's Bramimond's and to a large extent Xane's selling points and fits in seamlessly with their character. Hell, being a green bow was meant to be Legendary Lyn's thing - what, honestly, does she have apart from that and nice art? And that's been diluted now. Longer grey tomes can keep special, the better. As for the weapon: 1) Stone/Atlas are filler names for irrelevant tomes. No unit is going to come in at 5* with Atlas+. 2) Look at the animations of Stone. It's throwing rocks at people, not petrification, which has always been and continues to be associated with dark magic.
