SF's "Write Your Butt Off" Competition HD II.5 Remix
Parrhesia replied to AnonymousSpeed's topic in Written Works
We weren't blind at all. It's a bold claim to make from someone who can't see warn histories. -
She's a terrible person in a way that I'm fond of. Extreme Mother Gothel vibes. Don't think I'll +10 her - I already have Ethlyn - but I figure I'll merge every copy I get.

Should I give up and redo my entire HHM save file?
Parrhesia replied to Hanes's topic in Fire Emblem
It will be quicker to finish the map than it will be to play the past ~28 chapters through again and buy more javelins. -
There is no algorithm, but shaming someone and calling them an intrinsically terrible person Unless they repent and convert to your way of knowing and being is literally never going to work and literally always going to make you look like a cunt.

Your opinion on FEH evolution from 2017 to now.
Parrhesia replied to FireFenrir's topic in Fire Emblem Heroes
The game's got better with time, this showing especially with the writing of newly added characters. There hasn't really been a dud mode added - I'd even argue that Relay Battles were a good concept, just too overtuned. They've since, of course, been replaced in spirit with Mjolnir Strike. Powercreep isn't a real thing. Numbers and skills have to get larger to avoid stagnation and productively explore new design space; do you really want to go back to the days where everyone ran either Fury/Desperation, Fury/QR or DC/QR? -
How do you think avatars should be handled?
Parrhesia replied to Ottservia's topic in General Fire Emblem
Byleth was basically perfect... and was a viewpoint character, not an avatar*. Which I'm entirely fine with, and benefited the game. Honestly I'm not even convinced they should've been able to be renamed, though, like, this is absolutely not my hill to die on. I wouldn't mind seeing them go a more RPG direction, if they lean into it more. Also wouldn't mind them removing avatars as a concept entirely; FE15 showed it was fine to just put a thing entirely from the lord's perspective even from the more 3D, just-behind-the-camera perspective. * Sure, you could pick Byleth's lines, but always from a very limited palette and emotional range. They have an established background, personality and deep, deep flaws. -

I stand corrected and have some shouting to do at misinformers on SFcord. Or possibly at you. EDIT: Yes, at you.- 201 replies

March's Mythic Hero - Bramimond: The Enigma
Parrhesia replied to NSSKG151's topic in Fire Emblem Heroes
There'd be no point releasing Mark, save maybe as the backup in a Duo unit. But they have literally no personality, and are canonically a non-combatant. Hell, they (correctly) haven't even released Kris. Being the mirror for Bramimond is the only use for them. Reminder that this is a guy who can literally just be removed from the game without serious effect. Alfonse's, not Roy's.- 201 replies

Parrhesia replied to NSSKG151's topic in Fire Emblem Heroes
The fourth voice is either Alfonse or Mark. It's not Roy - not only does it make no sense, the JP VA is Alfonse's but not his.- 201 replies

Do you gravitate toward a male or a female Byleth?
Parrhesia replied to lecongvu's topic in Fire Emblem: Three Houses
I pretty much always go female when the choice is offered. Byleth is no exception. Thematically, it doesn't make much difference; save I guess you could argue it's subversive for a female protagonist's main weakness to be that she isn't that good at nurturing, that she doesn't get people, that her sense of emotional intelligence is... fumbling, at best. I love Byleth a lot, okay. -

That's fine and fair, it wasn't targeted at you. Just a general pre-emptive warning so nobody has an excuse to complain past this point. -

This is a first and final warning: rejoice victory to your heart's content, but antis will be purged. -
VGs are mostly about the characters you like. Some of the characters I like are terrible units nobody actually wants more of in their barracks. The VG I still remember is when fucking Shanna somehow fluked her way to victory (and I'd backed her since the start!) - do you really think she'd get a single backer if there were actual stakes on the line? You're already incentivised plenty to participate for the massive feather bonanza, and picking a larger side likely to win is adequately counterbalanced by the ease of climbing the ranks of a smaller side. The current multiplier system is working well. It's a good vessel to give a free unit, it's a better system than last time (which still worked very well and was a nice thing, and I say this as someone who only got a Lawn merge out of it). But let's not remove what makes it special.

What are some pointless achievements you are proud of?

I have the uncanny ability to instantly recall any embarrassing thing I've ever publically said, done or had happen to me. -
Hold the phone- do levels carry over?
Parrhesia replied to Benice's topic in Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones
Savestates aren't supported by the game itself, anyway. They are literally just 'the game takes you back to the point you saved at; anything that happened past that was not saved, there is no way for the game to know what happened'. But it won't do that with usual in-game saves, either. Not in any game in the series, as far as I'm aware, besides Heroes. -

A lot more people will want bonuses while not wearing the attire than will want their unit to be crippled on the vague off-chance that they'll be used for a GHB guide. -

Reminder for anyone sending feedback to FEH about the excessive Pass advertisement (or sending feedback to anyone, about anything): 1) the random intern who will read your feedback did not make the rules. 2) if you're a dickhead, they won't listen. Be courteous. -
Good luck 'paying to win' with fucking vanilla Lyn lmfao

A Hero Rises 2020 - [UPDATE: Midway results are in]
Parrhesia replied to Johann's topic in Fire Emblem Heroes
The impact of a Mythic hero won't exactly be groundbreaking when rewards are so reliant on rank. If you get one, so does everyone else. Though it will make going through tiers easier, and strengthen a one you have; and the rarity point is legit. Voted Igrene anyway. I love her a lot and figure I can piggyback off those who just want the fodder lmao -
