  1. [spoiler=Chapter 5]I don't think using numbers inthe example is a good idea, since you get a note with numbers on it (thus leading to potential confusion). Avk's example is for Chapter 4, but you're in Chapter 5. Basically, you should look at the numbers on the screens before you enter the maze. You then enter the six rooms in order as the note says. Remember to look at the GamePad map to confirm your current position after each time you enter a door.
  2. I made it a policy to keep Itsuki downed so that the team can have more evened out levels in my first run. In my second run, I pumped everyone with DLC level ups since my ultimate goal was the secret boss. [spoiler=Rare enemies / Savage enemies]Savage enemies depend on the highest level of your group, and is independent of the place they're found. Rare enemies appear at the same locations over and over, and can be easily farmed. Since they always drop the same Performa, they're actually easier to farm than the other Performa types. [spoiler=Rre enemies locations]South of 1-13 in Illusory Shibuya area 3 At 1-5's location in the west treasure room of Illusory Daiba [spoiler=Mamori 3]Set B 1/F, near treasure box 3-1 in this map.
  3. By going out of the way to help people, he has to go through all the training and practice on an industry he wasn't even interested in at the beginning. That's quite some dedication. No one can say "I fight for my friends" louder than this guy.
  4. It's an enemy drop. You can find it in the 2nd and 3rd areas in Illusory Shibuya, though later enemies may also drop it. I just ignored that quest and played naturally until I got enough, keeping in mind that I should never consume those.
  5. Magic affects EP. Defence affects HP. Skill determines the chance of triggering Dual Art in addition to determining hit rate. (And yes, it is possible to miss.) Speed is a factor in determining the attack orderin addition to determining avoid rate. These stats also work as they do in Fire Emblem, determining attack power and hit and critical rate.
  6. One thing I suspected was the class (promotion branch) affecting level ups, but I think the effect is minimal, if existent. I am unsure. My playthrough's Eleanora has decent stats despite having bad luck. Itsuki is supposed to be an average character. Lord/Great Lord should have slightly higher magic, but Overlord has considerably higher strength.
  7. I did, but only in Lunatic. In my case, it turns out the reason I kept getting beaten was because I forgot to go to the jewelry shop to upgrade my rings. It makes a huge difference.
  8. Oh, my bad. I meant the Dia series, so advanced versions of Dia will count towards this.
  9. I don't know about the localised names, but here is the chapter listing in the Japanese version: [spoiler=Japanese chapter names]序章:リインカーネーション 第1章:スタア誕生 第2章:あの子に首ったけ 第3章:ネクストジェネレーション 第4章:ザ・オーディション 第5章:トゥルー・カラーズ 第6章:ファイアーエムブレム 終章:ロング・グッドバイ Prologue: Reincarnation Chapter 1: Birth of a Star Chapter 2: Crazy for her Chapter 3: Next Generation Chapter 4: The Audition Chapter 5: True Colours Chapter 6: Fire Emblem Epilogue: Long Goodbye The epilogue is actually an interactive ending which features no fights.
  10. Mirages being companions is actually the reason they gave for having only a small selection in this game. There is already multiple classes in this game (it uses a branched promotion system), but they they don't bring any fundamental changes like weapon types or class weaknesses. Most of them just sway their stats between offensive and average.
  11. There is a prologue plus 6 chapters. The later chapters are a bit longer. There are also 27 character side stories and 48 NPC requests (plus 2 extra requests in later playthroughs). If you're a slow player like me, the game should last 50+ hours.
  12. Dang, my browser died when I was typing this. Now I have to type everything again. One implementation I can think of is that instead of recruiting the extra mirages like they're demons/personas/Pokémon, have a single recruitable mirage for each character's side story. Playable mirages rarely talk to humans that aren't their master or Itsuki (like the subordinates and royals in Fates outside of supports), so this shouldn't add too much to the story and steal screentime from anyone. And there probably shouldn't be too many mirages; I can imagine 2 or 3 per human. "Tokyo Mirage Sessions" sounds like a bunch of random concepts in the game slapped together. I'd have liked it better if it actually abbreviates to SMT; TMS doesn't sound obvious enough to me.
  13. That launch trailer is really well done. The spoilers aren't too bad there. When I saw the Japanese site, for the most part I had no idea what's going on. To those who don't follow the Japanese version, they couldn't really tell what's spoiler or not. I'd still prefer if the trailers don't show much late-game contents, though. And like with the Japanese site, I wish they wouldn't show Yashiro at all.
  14. One thing I can think of is the use of multiple mirages and a possible Triangle Attack. Maybe you can have a chance to launch that if all three of the main cast use related mirages. Depending on the situation, having all of the main cast being the same type isn't advisable (bringing three fliers to fight snipers is asking for trouble, for example), so this shouldn't break the game too much. Story-wise, I wantto see an extension of the original more than something somplete new. [spoiler=Ending]The character endings of this game interestingly don't talk about the far future, as you'd expect from the FE character endings. It's almost like they want to make Itsuki and Tiki meet again.
  15. I checked this thread every day I woke up. Great job for finishing this!
  16. I went physical, because I always do. Advantage includes the art book and the CD in the Fortissimo Edition, and if you don't have any external storage device, the DLC from popular games (like Smash and Mario Kart) and built-in games (like New SMB U and Wii Party U in the Family Pack) alone will consume almost all of the 25GB storage space. The loading time issue isn't that bad. And I don't think a mechanical hard disk plugged to a USB 2.0 port will help that much.
  17. No. Play records like getting all outfits and visiting all Idolasphere maps exclude DLC. You'll need the grinding DLC if you want an easy (not too easy) time getting the secret challenge done, though.
  18. Pretty much what Avk and Nintendoentersoft said. I'll add a little personal experience and add that certain bosses, like the Chapter 4 boss and the Chapter 6 first half boss, give little breathing room for mistakes. If you have managed to spam attacks to win up until Chapter 4, you may be a bit surprised by the difficulty spike. Later enemies also start blocking and reflecting attacks, although you can actually take advantage of the enemie's reflects. [spoiler=Names of bosses]Exceli and Garnef respectively Post-game grinding, on the other hand, is all about spamming attacks. If you're sufficiently powerful, the Megido series is actually useful for not triggering Sessions and save time, which is good for getting arena prizes. EP at this point isn't a concern at all.
  19. I don't know anything about ATLUS, but the experience you get do dimish. You're supposed to fight enemies at your level. If they're about 10 levels below you, you'll get very little experience from winning. I can't say there're many FE elements in the battle system other than the weapon triangle and general effectiveness (bow and wind are generally good against fliers, and there are skills targeted towards armoured, horseback and dragon enemies).
  20. Update: I have modified this post a bit to clarify the specifics of getting certain play records. Also added information on DLC and fighting the secret boss. (Names are not the localised versions because I don't know what those are at the time of writing) I originally just wanted to post the image, but I thought this would be a good opportunity to talk about 100% completion of this game. In Fortuna's office, there is a trophy corner where you can view a a list of records of things you have done. Most of them are hard to miss, but some of them require specific actions or are otherwise hard. I'll cover the specific ones here. List of play records (Japanese) You won't get the followings in the first playthrough as certain outfits and challengs cannot be unlocked during the first playthrough: Get all of Itsuki's outfits Get all of Tiki's outfits Complete the Legendary level of the arena Complete the request "Battle! Mirage Dojo Masters" Complete the request "Descend of the Demon Dragon God" Finish the game at Lunatic difficulty Finish the game 2 times Finish the game 3 times Other tricky play records: Obtain 15 of Virion's Carnage Forms Obtain 10 of Draug's Carnage Forms Obtain 10 of Nabarl's Carnage Forms You need to have to Class Change to both branches to have access to enough Carnage Forms in the first place. Everyone gets 3 additional forms when changing class (6 total for both options), but Nabarl only gets 2 per class. Visit Uzume training centre 30 times You don't visit it that many times. When there is no mission linked to it, it's just an empty room, so there's no reason to. The visit count (like all counters) carry across playthroughs, so if your aim is 100% completion (which requires 3 playthroughs), you don't need to do anything special. [spoiler=This part shows dungeon names and gimmicks]Reveal the dungeon map of Illusory Studio There is one area you can't reach even in Chapter 5. You gain access to it in an even later request. Reveal the dungeon map of Illusory Doluna There is a hard-to-find floor, height 226m, accessible from 232m. It's hard to describe the way to access it in words, but you can refer to this map (select the appropriate height first). Get caught by Illusory Shibuya's camera 30 times You may think you should avoid those cameras since they teleport you back, so you may miss this. Win 1000 battles You don't have to hit 1000 in a single playthrough. One playthrough had me fight 500 battles, so this should add up easily. Counter 10 times Use Yashiro's Counter 10 times. It's easy to miss if you don't rely on this move. Use Dia-based spells 300 times during battle Easy to miss if you use other ways to heal. Any Dia viariant will count towards this. Have 6 of the 7 characters downed and win a battle Have 6 of the 7 characters downed and the remaining almost downed and win a battle In the panel area of Illusory Studio there is an enemy that has the Megido skill. That serves as an easy way to kill your party (provided you play without inheriting level from the last playthrough and your party aren't overlevelled). Flee if you think you're dead enough, then go to the earlier dungeons for an easy win. Defeat 100 wild enemies If you have the wild enemy DLC, use that. Otherwise, Yashiro has a skill that attracts both rare and wild enemies. Wilds can kill you easily even when you're at level 99 (they get stronger when you do), so it's advisable to avoid this task until you have all of Eleanora's special skills. [spoiler=Outfits]Win a battle with all of the main cast wearing lesson clothing Win a battle with all of the main cast wearing casual clothing Win a battle with Itsuki, Touma and Yashiro wearing school uniform Win a battle with Itsuki (Blue Straight / Dark Argyle), Kiria (Black Cat), Mamori (School Life) Win a battle with Itsuki (Lord Form), any two of Eleanora, Mamori, Yashiro (apron) Win a battle with Itsuki (Lord Form), Touma (Raiga), Yashiro (Schraube) Win a battle with Itsuki, Tsubasa and Eleanora wearing school uniform Win a battle with Itsuki (Lord Form), Tsubasa (Cocktail Dream), Eleanora (Cocktail Dream) Win a battle with Itsuki (Lord Form), Tsubasa (Seaside Wear), Eleanora (West Ocean) Seriously, there's no way to tell which combination is valid. I got the casual clothing one without consulting guides, but all of the rest escaped me. Try to buy a drink with less than 160 yen in hand By the time you find out there is a play record like this, it may be too late for you. You can't reduce ten million yen to nothing easily. Go to the department store roof and move the camera to show the lens flare for 5 seconds Seriously, who would have done that!? Have 30 unread messages in Topic Actually, you can ignore all non-story messages. There is no option for you to reply back anyway. Stare at Tsubasa, Kiria or Eleanora in as exposing outfit for 3 minutes with no inputs during battle ...Seriously!? (As an aside, this is a completely out of character thing for Istuki to do.) Note that DLC is not required to obtain all play records. Challenges that involve getting all costumes and visiting all locations do not count the DLC. The costume DLC serve as little more than eye candy (but Fortissimo players get those for free, so ou may as well redeem those), but the grinding DLCs (for levels, weapon levels and shards) will be very helpful for preparng for the secret boss fight (described below). The most difficult task is obviously the secret boss (one of the extra requests in the second playthrough onwards). He has no weakness unless he has summoned other enemies (at which point the boss's weakness changes), and has a devastating move that gets stronger as the number of rounds, number of times you get KO'd, and the number of times the summoned enemies sacrifice increase. (Oh yes, those enemies can sacrifice themselves for heavy attacks, so you need to take them out first.) If you want to defeat the secret boss under Lunatic, you have to spend an unholy amount of time to gather Shards, exchange them for stat-raising items, and repeat until you have about 150 in all stats for everyone. My team have stats in the 110 range, and this happened after 1/4 of the boss's HP is depleted. [spoiler=Boom!] (Link to my Miiverse post showing that dramatic moment) I haven't tried, but this walkthrough suggests that at my current stats, I should be able to take out this boss at Easy without much hassle. That will have to wait. I am at the end of my 2nd Lunatic playthrough and grinded a long way to get all the arena prizes while hoping to defeat this boss. Looks like I still can't. This video suggests that the important thing is to get everyone's speed to above 150, and use skills like Randomizer to make the attacks more powerful and make the boss miss more often. (Link for users without Niconico account) And here's what prolonged DLC abuse can do to that boss. (Link for users without Niconico account) At least this is better than grinding for all parent-child support conversations in FE Fates (which involves beating the paralogues 11 times, or 19 times for the common children). And one last thing: speaking of Lunatic playthroughs, I strongly suggest that you do this as soon as possible (preferrably the 2nd playthrough), since you can't transfer levels and items when starting a new Lunatic run.
  21. It could be an effort to show that this game is Fire Emblem-related, and showing those parts is the easiest way to do so. I suppose showing nothing but Prologue and Chapter 1 all the time would be boring too. Firm Resolve originally has the effect of instant-killing all dragons (not counting bosses), so it's more than just being effective. Now that I think of it, since ad-lib skills inherit weapon effectiveness from the base skill(Firm Resolve's dragon effectiveness is an exception), that clip could simply be the result of Itsuki selecting Dual Killer (armour + horseback) and triggering Firm Resolve (dragon), even though I think keeping Dual Killer in late game (you don't get Firm Resolve until before Chapter 6 IIRC) is rather silly.
  22. Whoa. Spoilers everywhere. Of course it makes total sense to showcase near-endgame cutscenes and attacks. The Firm Resolve skill has effectiveness to armours and knights added. Interesting.
  23. I'm glad to see the voiced dialogs being redone. This age change reminds me of an unrelated case of a Nintendo character aging up: Yu Ayasaki. In her case, though, she ages in real time, meaning that she debuted when she was 18, but is now 20. I was actually wondering if Tsubasa would continue to claim to be 17 for the rest of her career. I wonder if the age change has to do with Canadian regulations. Or Mexican ones, or those of South America (NOA operates there too). Or maybe Australia (which is infamous for their violence-related censorship, but I don't know about sexual ones), and they want a single base copy across NOA, NOE and Nintendo Australia releases. But regardless of the reason, I think this is handled quite well. It's much better than going for the rather awkward "Yeeeah, let's pretend Tsubasa is slightly older and she just passed her 18th birthday." (It is realistic, but it would feel very blatant.) [spoiler=Late side story]In Maiko's 3rd side story, the fact that they're underage are brought up when Maiko happily suggest that they drink to celebrate Fortuna's 5th anniversary. I wonder how will this be handled: the Japanese legal drinking age is 20 (so no further change is actually needed here), but how many westerners know this? Regarding the Illusory Shibuya photo change, it's not even very noticeable at all. And the loss of a purely cosmetic DLC pack isn't a big deal, either.
  24. I see. I just think it's somewhat unusual to see "Sword-Lunge" — is it a sword or lance attack? Yeah, the age isn't really a big deal. I suspect it has less to do with the usual censorship reasons and more to do with potential child labour issues. ("You're giving your underage staff this much work to do!?") Just a random guess, though. And I'm thinking more of something along the lines of whether they'll change the Japanese voices because of these (potential) changes. The game's voice actors are going to attend functions related to the game in the future (= no contract-related difficulties), so it shouldn't be too hard to have them re-record a few lines. I suppose they could do what PXZ2 did (whenever characters speak of Vega, the dialog box shows Bison), although I do wonder if inappropriate voiced dialogs in a foreign language is acceptable by ESRB standards. I'm not suggesting that it should actually use Japanese text. It's an example of how the Japanese version handled it: X追のY撃 - It makes it clear that the attack's nature is Y, and X is what the attack follows. X is also named after FE attack categories, so for example, an attack that follows Force would be 風追の~ and not 衝追の~ (exceptions are Ice and Death; the former was never a proper FE weapon type and the latter is enemy-only and uses ATLUS-style 肉, short for 肉体). But I have no idea how to effectively communicate this in English. Maybe add a "to" in between. Elec-Lunge could be "Thunder-to-Lunge". (I don't think it's a big deal; the naming scheme used in the game isn't that hard to figure out.) I'm not upset at all about all these. It's a far better job than what NOA would have done without ATLUS.
  25. Mostly because of FE3, I believe. When you ask the older FE players to name the one pegasus knight, most of them will say Shiida (Caeda), for example.
