  1. You don't get the Magic Sword until the final History Mode map, so yeah. And I totally overlooked the fact that Lianna has higher magic than strength.
  2. Just a guess, really. But skills require programming to some extent (as opposed to just data patches; even though skills in this game are things like "ignore enemy defence" which don't take much effort), which I don't see that often in character/skin DLCs.
  3. New weapons? Prf weapons, I suppose. And I guess the new supports are just for the newcomers, which is too bad since I'd have liked to see Caeda and Chrom or Lucina. Also, please tell me we still are going to get Oboro, Niles, Navarre and Owain. Do the newcomers come with skills? I doubt it, but it's not impossible.
  4. Pretty much, at least as far as first impression is concerned. He's not that bad later on, but I wish he didn't have those intro and victory animations, which do highlight the idiot hero aspect. Maybe the supports would make him look better. I didn't see all the supports (I prefer seeing them in-game), but I did like the one he has with Lucina.
  5. To unlock Anna, finish any of the illustrations and beat the extra map unlocked with it. There are 5 illustrations and you only need to unlock 1, so for example, you can get the first extra map by getting the second of Anna's Mementos in chapters 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 12, and getting all 10 of Anna's Mementos in the first History Mode map, and you can get the extra map. These extra maps have level 80 enemies, and at that point you're way more than powerful enough to beat Story Mode's final chapter at Lunatic. Still, you aren't actually required to beat the later chapters again to get Anna, so the simple answer to your question is no.
  6. The screen looks really cramped. I was wondering if I'm missing out not having a second screen for the map because I got the Switch version, but it seems not to be the case here. No content difference, although the New 3DS version has a different S-rank time requirement in History Mode (20 minutes instead of 15 to hit S, or 10 minutes instead of 7 to reach S in the "get 700 KOs" missions). I'm guessing it's because the New 3DS version has fewer mob enemies.
  7. You can do that in the battle preparation screen. Select マップ・配置 in the main menu (the large menu that appears in the middle of the screen with the background blurred), move the cursor to a character you want to change, press ?, then select 入れ替え to swap position or キャラクター変更 to change character.
  8. I actually have quite some high hopes for this game. I'm not one to get too excited about a game until it's out, but everything seems to point to a high-quality game, at least in technical terms. I expect: Voice acting. FE10 had narrated story text, FE13 and 14 added voice samples, ♯FE and FE15 have full voice acting for major conversations (as opposed to NPC dialogs), and FE Warriors has complete full voice acting. Everything points to FE16 following suit. High quality graphics. I don't know how good it will be, but the game is said to be beautiful. I prefer 1080p60 at the expense of having fewer models onscreen at the same time, lower polygon count and worse lighting and shadows. But even failing that, it's still the first main series Fire Emblem in HD, and the first home console game with 16:9 screen output in Japan (Japanese Radiant Dawn was 4:3 only). Good 3D models and animations. IS has gotten far better at 3D during the course of making those 3DS games (relatively), and hopefully external games (♯FE, FE Warriors) can serve as a guide to them. Here's a prediction on the game itself: ledges from FE10 will return, done to accomodate the better graphics. Wall-piercing arrows and magic won't happen, as was the case with FE9 and FE10. Will it include shipping? Can I pair Princess Eclair with someone else?
  9. Background: I've played most of the FE games, missing only FE1, FE3, BSFE, FE11 and FE Heroes, but I've never played a Warriors game before. I'm kind of nitpicking here, but I think the UI feels… not perfect. Not that I'm dissatisfied overall; it's just that some parts feel weird. I also don't know if I'm actually looking at features of Warriors that just happen to not match FE. The first of these issues is the save mechanism. The game never asks the player to confirm saving (except when saving from a suspend point to a main save file), and autosave takes place after the player leaves the shop or item menu, or after a battle. The weirdest part is that when you quit from a battle, all changes made are lost, including changes made in the battle preparation screen. Oh, and there's no way to save from battle preparation, either. This threw me off at first, since this means I can't easily reload a save and make small changes from my last set of battle preparations. It's also weird that the game doesn't seem to always remember my units of choices. Did the game try to restore my character choices to when I first played the chapter? This is especially apparent when I skip to a previous chapter or go to History Mode. Again, this threw me off for just being so different from what I'd expect in a Fire Emblem-themed game. And picking units itself takes time to get used to. Instead of picking units and then deciding their placement, I now do both at the same screen. And I have to call out a submenu using ? while ? is used for issuing commands that I don't even think they'd follow when the battle actually starts. I cannot swap items with units who can't use it. If I want to give Frederick's Elixir to Elise, the game won't let me unless Elise unequips her staff first. This unnecessarily complicates the item preparation process, and I think a better way would be having the game prompt that Frederick can't use staves and offers to send Elise's staff to the convoy instead. And this really is unnecessary nitpicking, but I can't get over with how the game uses the wrong sound effect for menu cursor movements in Lyn's map. Yeah, I know I should be glad that they added this nice little touch to include Famicom and GBA sound effects in the first place, but it still feels somewhat weird. Still, for the most part, I can see a genuine effort on Omega and Ninja's side to make this game easy to pick up by FE players, so kudos to them.
  10. Drat. That makes me wish they're playable even more, if they're this close to having full sets of data.
  11. A somewhat pessimistic prediction here, assuming that there will be no free updates that unlocks the NPCs: Navarre, Ogma (since we have Navarre), Minerva (popularity, I suppose) Owain, Severa, Inigo (to complete the time travel trio; also, everyone uses swords and swords are all the rage in FE Warriors, right?) Niles, Oboro (paid unlocks of existing contents! Yay!), Azura If the NPCs are available as updates, I'd say Camus, Tharja (maybe 3000-year-old Tiki?), Felicia and/or Jakob, and maybe Kaze. Nothing too exciting for me (besides an entire new weapon type), but I don't think I'll ever see most of my favorite characters in a crossover other than Cipher.
  12. I see. I'd actually have liked to see sacrificial magic working in this game. If they make Nosferatu among the moves available to her, it might change her strategy from "conserve magic at all costs" to just "watch the HP more carefully than you would other characters". The HP costs in Gaiden/Echoes are mostly minimal to the point I can barely feel it's there, anyway. Maybe they could make it the case here as well.
  13. I would like to know whether there are any actual clues that might indicate these characters might be unlocked via updates. Just to avoid getting my hope too high. (And seriously, whose idea was it to have them not playable when they are fully working NPCs with full story involvement?)
  14. 1. Kris 2. Kris 3. Just give this poor guy three votes Seriously, who knew they were serious about Kris not leaving a trace in history? Even in collections that do involve FE12, he's still completely omitted while Robin and Corrin are prominently shown. Even Katarina has more screen time than Kris now.
  15. I'd take Niles, Oboro, Owain and Navarre over Anna, Cordelia, Celica and Lyn. Actually, having both would be better, and I can't think of any reason that they'd "replace" characters who are already there as NPCs. What is this, Kirby (around 25 regular abilities most of the time) or Puyo Puyo (always 24 playable characters)? Having only fliers as the only lance units is weird, and I can't think of any good reason that Celica would prefer sword over magic. She doesn't even have the Beloved Zofia!
  16. If they release it in the timeframe of Fates, we'd end up with only Emma and Shade. …Or do you mean a Fates-themed DLC in Echoes? That wouldn't be bad, actually. Besides having a bunch of fans complaining how they're pandering to Fates and wouldn't let it die off. But I guess most players don't mind. And now I wonder what's the relation between Archanea/Valentia and Hoshido/Nohr. Are they supposed to be in the same time period? Both worlds predate Awakening, but we don't know how far in the past is Fates in, and we don't even know if they're physically in the same realm. Are the Cipher characters time travellers? (They do mention they travel across continents.) And thanks for the tip on Subdue. I've completely forgotten about its existence here. And now I remember forgetting to remove Elincia's Mercy when I played Radiant Dawn, ultimately leading to a reset because having less enemies not dead is generally more desirable.
  17. Got the Cipher DLC. Not bad, but it's a bit underwhelming. This wave of DLC comes rather late. They also didn't release any extra gifts from Mila. I wasn't really expecting anything, but I'd love to see infinite pitchforks to make up for those horrible level ups. The map BGM is great. Actually, all of FE15's music is great. Yuzu is a... priestess? I guess it suits her, since it gives her magic while still retaining the ability to use swords. I have to hit Shade without killing her? How to do that if Yuzu refuses to fight her? What if I have previously made everyone overpowered!? In my case, I managed to find someone outside of my usual team, but I wonder what a player with nothing but overpowered units can do. I guess the player can recruit Emma and Randal first, but what if the player makes those two overpowered as well? I guess I'm overthinking it… The maps are not unique. I'm disappointed. On the overall DLC, I'm glad that they didn't copy the same pattern as Awakening and Fates, but it feels much shorter this time. With the earlier games, the DLC seem to have dragged for longer, but this time, it's all over in just two months. Even shorter if you don't count the Cipher DLC.
  18. FE11 ended up being the only FE I didn't buy, because who wants a game that requires you to kill your own units to get the new characters? I don't know about FE12. Reviews favour it much better than FE11, but sales weren't great. But I guess that is to be expected; it looks like FE11, and it's out at a time when the next system was already out for a year. (As someone who held off 3DS purchase, I ended up buying a few of the last DS games, including FE12. Loved it.) FE15 didn't do much to improve the game mechanics, but its presentation is far better than any of FE1-14 (awful 2D cinematic with compression artefacts aside). I guess it contributes towards a generally better reception than the DS games.
  19. Do use Invoke. The enemies will almost always target them if they can, even if it means missing the opportunity to kill a player unit. Alm should be at least decent enough to withstand Duma's attack. Just keep using him to attack and have healers use Physic from outside the range. And you probably know it by now, but Duma can move.
  20. I base my choice on whoever I liked (or found powerful) at earlier stages of the game, regardless of what their theoretical potential. I ended up with characters who don't have a 3rd tier class. The only compromise is Tatiana; I didn't like her specifically (with her being a prepromote with awful growths), but she has Fortify and Warp. Faye (Exemplar Lv 20/20/20/20) with Mage Ring (main cannon) Alm (Hero Lv 20/20) with Falchion (shield + Faye support) Celica (Rigain Lv 20/20/11) with Beloved Zofia* Kliff (Guru Lv 20/20/20/5) with Grimoire Boey (Guru Lv 20/20/7) with Angel Ring Mae (Enchantress Lv 20/20/11) with Mage Ring (2nd cannon) Genny (Exemplar Lv 20/20/15) with Sage's Shield Tatiana (Saint Lv 14) with Speed Ring Delthea (Priestess Lv 20/17) with Keepsake Ring Est (Falcon Knight Lv 20/14) with Silver Lance (unimportant member; I also trained Silque and Tobin who can easily replace her) I also kept retreating and re-entering because I'd end up using up the Turnwheel (for undoing undesirable level-ups) before I could reach the bottom. There isn't really any tactics to speak of. Even without counting on overclasses, Alm's defence should be enough to handle most situations. I'd just put Faye and Alm in close proximity and have Faye counterattack all the enemies. Nosferatu with 80 hit and 50 critical is incredibly useful. Oh, and the final boss is defeated after 3 fights. For the other enemies that aren't busy getting fried by Faye, there're Mae with her raw power output and Kliff with his incredible speed and still decent defence. And being able to get a bunch of simple villagers and clerics to clear the dungeon like it's nothing is why I did all the previous grinding in the first place. It's not needed, but it feels great to me.
  21. I finally cleared Thabes Labyrinth, so I decided to take a look again. And this happened: This is exactly my case as well. Same shrine, same issue. So thanks for letting me know! It turns out that I missed the cog on the bright floor. I also missed the Coral Ring from the other treasure box. And I somehow managed to miss it in my previous re-check.
  22. To clarify: If I don't get the level-up I want, I rollback my move and don't use that unit for the rest of that battle. And then I'll try again in the next battle. Sometimes I'd also send all units with near-100 EXP (the exact threshold varies) to see what their level-ups would be like for that battle, and then roll back and have the ones who were shown to have good level-ups fight.
  23. I've had units killed by witches this way. They don't seem to pick particular targets (and I've also seen witches essentially suicide this way), but they can just happen to pick the same low-RES unit twice. It looks at first that they find random targets before warping, but I've also seen cases where they don't actually reach player units after warping. I've also seen witches warp to two spaces in front, and then walk to my side's frontier units. It's weird. Just have your units prepared enough for them to not die after one witch battle, and leave the rest to the RNG.
  24. Just go to the nearest available shrine. If you have access to the Secret Shrine, use that. There's only one secret location and it's only available for Alm's side, but you don't really need Celica's side to be particularly powerful. For post-game, the two teams are merged so Celica can use the Secret Shrine too, but by that point you're probably better off just grinding in the post-game dungeon itself instead. I don't usually care about how many levels can I get per trip, since I like to fine-tune level ups. Enter a cave, fight once, keep using the Turnwheel until I get a satisfactory level up, save, and repeat. That'd be an overkill for Act 6 preparation, but I love myself some overpowered magical cannons.
  25. Not long after I posted this from the Thabes Labyrinth thread… It just happened. The game just stops abruptly, and returns to the 3DS Menu after two seconds. I'm also having another problem with it, but I'm not sure if it's my problem or is it the game: My Turnwheel cog count does not match what I've collected. Cog locations: Serenes Forest link / gamesp.net link I've collected everything except the Forest Village one, and I actually went back to those locations to check. Yet there are only 7 cogs (should be 8) in my inventory, and I can only undo 10 times (should be 11) in battles. Is it possible to miss items like this if I open a chest and leave the room without collecting it? I think I did make sure to collect every treasure box items, but I can imagine it to be easy to miss the cogs, thinking those are just the very common silver coins.
