Jedi's Playthroughs: Bleed 2 S Rank run & another game too.
Darrman replied to Jedi's topic in Let's Play/Streams
Also, that sniper that you had Merric attack at the start of the chapter? He doubles him. You had 4AS, he had 7AS, and 3AS is the doubling threshold. If you didn't crit, he would have been one rounded. -
An Issue with the Mystery of the Emblem Translation
Darrman replied to Pogohg's topic in NES and SNES Era
SNESTool is a DOS application, and is not compatible with Win10. I believe the patches require headers. To check if there is a header, open the rom in a hex editor and the first 0x200 bytes or so should be zeros. To apply headers, you can download DOSBox and run SNESTool within DOSBox; drag SNESTool onto the DOSBox shortcut.- 7 replies

Death Counter: 2. RIP Abel, he died to a crit... or something. Technical errors demand we do not know the true causes... -
I remember testing an FE4 Powerpoint presentation for school. It worked fine at home, but then I changed a theme and the projector showed white text... on a white background. The results were me adlibbing through the text, looking like a nervous wreck, and then afterwards, we had to fill out some form. My response went along the lines of "What did I learn? Check your presentations before you present them." No-one really noticed any of the questionable content as I labelled the incest "Crazy Enemy Plan".

Will we ever see the old games get localized?
Darrman replied to Harvey's topic in General Fire Emblem
Probably not. But we can dream, right? I'd love it as much as anyone if a discussion in Nintendo was like... "Let's put the SNES FEs on VC." "But the translation isn't commercially viable..." "Some fans put up translations for them, just use those." "Alright, it's not like those pirates care if we steal their stuff."* *Everyone knows Nintendo and their opinions on emulation, after all. now if they stole the fe5 translation... :D -

"Death" counter: 1. But honestly, who cares about Mattis anyway? -

You nearly finished the chapter, but then you got critted. I'll just clean up the hair lying around here. Might buy you a wig while you're at it.- 290 replies

General Fire Emblem fanart: what is hotlink???
Darrman replied to Thunderfox's topic in General Fire Emblem
^Search is a bit glitchy when the terms are under iirc four letters. The search used to outright block sub-four letter terms, but now it glitches out instead. For example, searching for Marth gave me over a hundred results, searching for Sigurd gave me around 50, searching for Ike got zero. -
http://imgur.com/a/6Zehp The status screen text when displaying dead people is garbled. (To access, open the Valkyrie menu at home, but instead of pressing A to revive, press X to view status. The Condition field displays gibberish. Names are also cut off on the are you sure screen.

If you're playing on a computer, just post the .srm file for the game up on a file sharing website and link to it.

The simple names are fine. If they were changed to fancy names, I'd probably wonder what they were, before figuring them out and just calling them by their old names anyway, though I'd revert all the Fates class renames. What was wrong with shortening Pegasus Knight to Peg Knight anyway instead of renaming them to Sky Knights?

I watched that highlight. The speed differences are crazy: sprinting saved so much time. It's strange seeing top-level Pepsiman play compared to "casual" Pepsiman play.

I was watching it. PEPSIMAN!! And he did it without any deaths, too!

Sorry. I just fixed the link there.

Formatting report time! http://imgur.com/a/yxZyK Pic 1: misplaced comma, should be full stop. Pic 2, 3: text overflows. Both in same house in Ch4. Pic 4: No full stop at the end of the sentence. Pic 5: I guess the Devil Axe village will always be awkwardly worded. I'm at the start of Chapter 5. Haven't found any garbled text yet.

How are win/loss counted in the game?
Darrman replied to Illiterate Scholar's topic in General Fire Emblem
Battles: Get in a battle. Wins: Kill an enemy unit. Losses: Die. They persist through saves, so you know how many times you reset to save someone. I remember save-scumming through parts of FE4 and the losses for some units were massive at the end of it all. -
Run NUPS. Click the first option, "apply UPS patch to file." Another window should pop up. Put the rom in the top box, and the patch in the bottom box. Check the backup box just to be safe, set the invalid setting to ignore, and click the patch button. It should look like the picture below. http://imgur.com/VI5gLpk

Just finished Chapter 1. I might actually play the game legit instead of just having ManaketeMarth destroy everything with 99 move to playtest. Anyways, that seems fine. It's almost surreal seeing "Caeda attacks" instead of "Sheeda attacks" now. Congratulations! (Secret playtester's tip: press select on the sound test to jump straight to the ending. Everything works fine: missed chapters just have a zero for turncount. LTCers, take note!)

Fire Emblem Genealogy of the holy war basic guide
Darrman replied to Harvey's topic in NES and SNES Era
Yes: even if everyone is dead, they give you a way of dealing with the final boss.
