  1. 1. Yes 2. You can buy any class skill the character has, not just the equipped ones. Note that this only applies to characters that you yourself put in the logbook; characters obtained from other players' castles will only have their equipped skills available. 3. If the types of castles available on the english online servers are even remotely like the ones in Japan, everyone and their mother is going to have a Midoriko with all the Luck% skills to buy from plus just about everything else. You could save yourself some effort that way, but if you insist on doing it yourself, something like this might work. Hoshido: F!Corrin!Oni Savage x Kaze to get Hoshido and Draconic Shield (making sure to pass down Smithy), marry Hisame to get LoD, buddy Kinu to get Flamboyant and Fortune. Nohr: Buddy F!Kanna!Priest to get Renewal/Miracle. You could make Luna her mother to get Stubbornness as the last Luck% skill if you want, but it's useless since you'll have Renewal. Those two files alone should get you what you need.
  2. I've purchased quite a few things since my last post here, so I thought I might share some updated pics (of mostly the new stuff): Making of FE book that came in the mail today. Group pic including both the Nohr and Hoshido keychain sets, the making of book, Fates 2016 calendar, and Sakura card sleeves and a pin from the 25th anniversary. Hoping to expand more next year, provided I have funds leftover from grad school tuition payments lol
  3. I've always interpreted it as gameplay incentive to use certain characters (mainly Lords). Why should a player bother using the scrawny lord character when they often come with christmas cavaliers, Jeigans, and more specialized foot units? Giving them a cool personal that can mow down both horse and armor units is one way to do it. Meanwhile Sigurd, perhaps the only lord who isn't statistically suspect at the start, is one of the few who doesn't get a starter personal lol
  4. Glad to see someone else is training up Senou, even making him into a Dread Fighter to boot! Make sure he learns Copycat Puppet, he's the only capturable boss who has access to that skill.
  5. Name: Undecided, perhaps Josephine. Gender: Female Route: Revelations Secondary Class: Samurai Asset/Flaw: +Speed/-Luck Spouse: Kaze!Shigure Appearance: A lot of things went wrong and poor decisions were made in my Japanese grinding file, and I hope to rectify those mistakes with the English release. All the marriage and buddy support planning is done for both generations, just need to decide on the Avatar's name lol
  6. You appear to be correct; I was going on first chapters where all enemies and reinforcements are promoted, and didn't take into account exceptions that show up later on (Also didn't help that my mind was thinking Nohr 19's enemies were a special, non promoting class, oops). Sorry about the misinformation there.
  7. You will be fighting nothing but promoted and special-class (Faceless, Golems, etc) enemies starting in Ch. 18 on all three routes.
  8. This one's probably not too bad, but I've nearly completed grinding out every character's primary, marriage, and buddy class skills in IK, as well as getting gold statues for every character. What's actually bad about this is that I have every intention of doing it all over again for the English release. Please IS, just release Paragon already ;_;
  9. Alternatively you can save the Draw use, instead pairing up your Pass user (who you should be training anyway) with a strong combat unit to rush up the second stairway from the left, bypassing the enemies and taking out one of the Basara blocking the stairs on the right. Staff accuracy is shaky on the them, and Draw is quite expensive.
  10. I, for one, will be furious if I can't fondle my child-bride imoutos in the localized version.
  11. Ah, I missed that. I guess that's what I get for not checking beyond the first page of topics. Doesn't seem like anyone knows what causes it, I suppose it's just something the localization team will hopefully catch and fix for the international release. I'm really hoping it goes away eventually, it just makes me have to scroll more lol
  12. My file is currently experiencing a glitch where the Hoshido Fields map is taken up by two separate skirmishes on the map menu. This is odd as they should just be combined into one, and when I try engaging them I'm presented a blank map devoid of all enemies where I can't select my own units and all I can do is go back to the menu. This is the case for both skirmish slots. Normally these random encounters will disappear after a while but these have persisted for several days now and it concerns me somewhat. Here's a video taken with my potato that may help better illustrate what I'm talking about here: https://youtu.be/yEYcvGnHWvs Interestingly enough I can still spend gold and have another skirmish show up at Hoshido Fields for a total three slots of the same location. Though unlike the other two this one works as expected. My 3DS and game have never tampered with by any kind of homebrew or codes, and I avoid all online castles I suspect may not be legitimate. Has anyone else here experienced something like this or know what may be causing it?
  13. I don't have any regular logbook characters worth showing off, but here's a few of my captured and amiibo units I've saved: My two amiibo units, Marth and Ike. I have Lucina as well but she hasn't been trained. Still waiting for a Robin amiibo restock so I don't have to pay scalper prices. Boss of Ch. 9 Nohr, he put in some serious work in my Lunatic run, either fighting or simply providing support with his Defense Rally. Senou, my favorite capturable boss. I even used him in PvP for a while, but as expected that didn't work out too well lol My file just wouldn't be complete without a representative from Fire Emblem's resident underdog class. It was a pain to find a Lancer with the skills I wanted, but I eventually lucked out with this guy who had Lancefaire, Defensive Formation, Confined Defense, and Cut Through. I want to raise a few more of the captured boss units, namely Nacht, but they will have to wait until I'm done with all the regular characters' level and skills, and grinding for renown online has kept me quite busy as well.
  14. If you're trying to create a bond unit remember to get the other player's card in addition to the usual accessory swapping, castle visits, etc. I'm not 100% sure if you actually need it, but based on my experience and from lurking convos on Japanese message boards it seems like a safe bet. I never got a single one before I tried getting the cards of those I'd been regularly swapping with. Facial features seem random, but hair colors appear to be based on one of the players who created the unit (No hard data though, may just be coincidental). Six class skills is nice, but you have little control over what the sixth one is and they lack supports and therefore class and skill options.
  15. I think you're the first person I've seen who actually liked the wind in Ch. 20. Nohr's difficulty is pretty fair on hard. While it doesn't really feel like any game that came before I'd say it's comparable in difficulty to FE7's HHM. Just don't try Lunatic if Ch. 21 Hard had you pulling your hair out; you'll be bald by the time you're done with Ch. 25, 26, and the final.
  16. I really wanted to like Nohr, but all things considered I enjoyed Hoshido the most. It wasn't as adventurous as the other two routes in terms of story and gameplay but maybe that's why I liked it. I found many of the map gimmicks present in Nohr and IK to be more frustrating than they were fun, and I knew things weren't right when I began to rush through my first playthrough of Nohr due to sympathizing more with the Hoshido cause and annoyance with Kamui seemingly being able to do nothing but stand and watch helplessly as any "good" thing he/she did be undermined by Macbeth and Ganz. I'll give Nohr some credit for its Lunatic difficulty; fair for most of the game, but soured somewhat by Ch. 21 and Endgame, which crank the dial just a little too high for my liking.

  18. Group shot of all the games I currently own; missing the Famicom games and Thracia: http://imgur.com/2eZiAgY Now I kinda wish I had bought the special edition of Fates, I even had it in my cart at one point when it went up for pre-order. Oh well... Here's the actual merchandise I own: http://imgur.com/YIov9qe Included are the Marth, Ike, and Lucina amiibos (still waiting on a Robin reprint so I don't have to pay scalper prices), two boxes of Cipher series 1 cards, one box of series 2, both series 1 theme decks, Tiltyu figure, a Tellius map from Nintendo power, and an NP with Path of Radiance featured. Hoping to expand my collection when I can get a better job that will pay for it.
  19. You can buy any skill your own logbook characters had access to, not just the equipped ones (except DLC skills, ofc). Your lobster's Copycat skill is safe.
  20. Crono/Marle/Anybody(usually Lucca) Marle keeps Haste cast on everyone while the other two go ham with powerful magic and techs. Never bothered much with double/triple techs, as most of them seemed gimmicky and not worth it. I'll have to experiment with them more next playthrough, which may be sooner than planned thanks to this thread lol
  21. With a series 2 booster box on the way, I'm looking to sell/trade my extra R and SR cards. For now I can only ship within the United States.
  22. Seems like two of the enemies in the new map are carrying scrolls that allows a unit to learn the Steel Blade and Veteran's Intuition skills, allowing female units to have access to them. An Aether scroll can be found as well.
  23. I think skills are in desperate need of an overhaul. Fates did a decent job of focusing more on skills that are always in effect, such those based on positioning or debuffs, but my issue comes from the proc-based skills like Luna and Astra. How they function has been fundamentally unchanged since their introduction in FE4, and they add an unnecessary luck factor to the game I'd rather have done away with. One solution I came up with is have them function similarly to how Defense Stance works in Fates, where it involves a bar that goes up during each stage of combat, so you always know exactly when your partner will jump in to take a hit. Just apply the same principal to mastery skills so their activation can be controlled somewhat. Or maybe even have them be command-based once certain conditions are met.
