  1. I honestly thought having a discussion exclusively about Fates characters here was fine 'cuz... well, it's the Fates boards, and Fates is no longer the most recent FE game. Anyway, favorite girl should be obvious: the glorious fashionista Oboro. Not only is she actually a well written character, but apart from her racism, she's a very warm person who isn't quite as vain as you might initially believe. Being surrounded by relatively gimmicky and tropey characters, and the fact that she isn't perfect and the narrative doesn't treat her as such, she almost seems like an actual human. Aside from her, I also like Mitama, Mozu, and Flora. The Best Dude crown goes to Takumi. Again, he's a character that feels more "real" than a lot of the cast (at least the BR cast). And that's also where his humor stems from; why he gets all the memes. You can compare him to real-world radical racists because he talks exactly like them. But again, he has a genuine good side to him, which is expressed in his A supports with Leo and Corrin. My other favorite dudes are Saizo, Arthur, Leo, and Forrest, among others.
  2. Not too long ago, I pulled my first five star... and it's the one focus character everyone seems to crap on, Roy. Though, I mean, he is pretty excellent. Probably my best sword user, if I can get him to level 20 or so and compare him to some other sword users. So far, he has some fairly balanced stats that allow him to take on any foe within five levels. He's certainly better than his Binding Blade counterpart, and already has an attack rating that rivals some of my best units.
  3. Shanna! Really, Shanna has been pretty good. Her chatter is fun, too. I've also been warming up to Palla more. Catria's my favorite of the Whitewing trio, but Palla's becoming more appreciated. You trickster you. Serra is love, Serra is life. Takumi's being a scum because he isn't joining me, so all his appearance in this game is doing is making me like him less. Pretty soon he'll be less likable to me than Garon.
  4. After all the hype and first impressions faded away? Revelation has bad plot, the same characters from both paths, and really dull gameplay; it hardly holds a candle to either in anything other than giving me access to more support lines. CQ is challenging, has numerous great characters, but a plot that makes me hate much of the main cast. BR isn't too challenging, but isn't tedious like Revelation. BR has a plot that's enough to genuinely entertain me, and has some really great characters. Really, it's close between CQ and BR. BR has an edge because it has my absolute favorite characters there and because it was the first I played, thus there was novelty when I played it. Plus, while I have a balance of enjoyment for both gameplay and story, the story side has more weight.
  5. For the sake of staying true to the original, I wouldn't mind if they kept the promotions as they were. Of all the mechanics in this game, the promotion system doesn't need improvements. Except maybe the whole "loop back to villager" exploit with the merc line. We might get playable witches, though. Of course, witches having the ability to teleport is a pretty broken ability in the hands of the player, but I think that they can find a way to balance it... maybe. I do think we'll be getting difficulty modes. They did it with Shadow Dragon and Mystery, and for all its gimmicks, Gaiden wasn't a particularly difficult game. Difficulty levels might entail implementing a time limit, making enemies tougher, and/or adding more foes. A choice between Casual and Classic might also be planned, though casual mode would render the revival shrines completely pointless unless they did something about that.
  6. Got some news for you... I think that from a certain standpoint, it makes sense. You give your lifeforce so that you can cast your magic, since one would suspect you'd need more than words and paper to fling all that energy and holiness about... It especially makes sense when you summon monsters, since you're literally giving form and life to empty husks (or are calling them from another world), all of which I'd assume would be taxing on one's body. Though we'll have to see if it'll be frustrating in Echoes. My real beef was with the summoning, specifically the kind certain enemies do. All I really want is if they're gonna keep these gimmicks, they'll also make an effort to balance them and... well, just make the game fun instead of a chore. It helps that we'll be getting a more developed story, but even games with the best stories can feel like chores if the mechanics are bad enough.
  7. I'd assume Shanna and Oboro might be good 5* units since they're pretty much my best units, but I wouldn't know since I have absolutely no 5* units. I got her as a 3* unit, and she already started with 15 defense. She also has almost as much resistance as my Nino and somewhat close to as much speed as a few of my 15-20 level units. I say her one real crutch is only being able to move one space per turn.
  8. When you give Oboro a skill, her line captures one of the things I truly love about her: "For all my talk of fashion, it's what's on the inside that matters." I'm sure the FE Wiki will have them all up eventually. Be sure to follow that if you want to get a full list... maybe even submit some there. Maybe we could settle on "Fateslandia", since I think "Emblian Empire" is probably supposed to be puntastic as well.
  9. We don't have people yelling about how Tharja, Camilla, and Female Corrin shouldn't be in FE Heroes/Warriors. We don't hold a candle to the Smash fanbase in terms of saltiness. I think the reason why some people complain about fanservice is because they don't like it when it's obvious that the writers are pandering to them. It isn't even necessarily about disliking sexualization; it's the fact that the writers are trying to excuse what might be bad writing by treating you to a menu of desirable things and special treatment so that you might not be mad about consuming their potentially awful content. At least that's how I feel when I talk about fanservice. I could list a hundred female FE characters that I think are stronger, more personable, and all around better characters than a number of the top female picks. But that would be pointless because that would mean I missed the point of the poll, which is that it was all in good fun. Also, a lot of the good female characters aren't major characters, and thus are naturally less notorious. But rest assured, I and probably a number of other guys think that a lot of those characters are little more than shameless pandering. I'm fairly indifferent to sexualization as a whole, but I definitely am not a fan of Camilla and Tharja, not even design-wise. I am inclined to like modesty more, though. Either that, or non-sexualized flashiness. 'Cuz I'm not sure you could exactly call Oboro or some of the other nobles/royals "modest" in their clothing choices. I'm pleased with the top 10 males, though. At least, I don't think any of them don't deserve it aside from maybe Robin. But then again, I think I just have a thing against Mary Sues in general, and honestly... Robin isn't nearly the worst.
  10. I'd say probably... six or seven. - Grinding my characters up to be strong and powerful is fun. Grinding for feathers and orbs... not so much. On that note, needing so many feathers for 5* characters... I mean, I get it's a "rarity" level, but 20,000 is utter BS unless there's some other way to more efficiently collect feathers than there currently is. Badges are just another seemingly pointless pain. - Story leaves a lot to be desired. I mean, it's not particularly dumb like Conquest, but instead it's very dry. I know it's to be expected with a mobile gacha game, but I don't always like when things go "as expected". Come on, surprise me, devs! - The simplified mechanics work, but they don't feel like FE. Without skill and luck, all events are certain; you know your units will receive this amount of damage, and you know they'll deal such and such damage. Some say this is a good thing, but uncertainty makes for an on-point strategy game because let's face it, nothing in war is certain. I also like strategizing around the RNG; it feels so much more fulfilling. - People are complaining about no permadeath, but I honestly think keeping it would make this game so much more annoying than it already is unless they did something to really balance things out. I mean, can you imagine you grinded for 20,000 feathers or got really lucky and got a 5* rarity character, only for them to die because of a cheap bow user? I'd be absolutely livid, knowing I'd have to go through all that pain again. - Shanna and Oboro, best waifu warriors, 10/10, even though neither of them are 5* units (not yet, anyway) - That last point isn't even relevant, and neither is this one... what am I even doing anymore? I know... they remind of a badly animated cartoon or whatever. Like if you took a random still during an action packed scene and happened upon a frame where the artists just said "f**k it, let's see what we can get away with". Okay, that's an exaggeration, but that face makes me feel legitimately uncomfortable.
  11. Yeah, I was a bit surprised she wasn't in this game. She was the first ever wife for any avatar I made in this game because screw canonity. Okay, really, I just felt pity for her in the C support, and I thought "Someone who enjoys books can't be too bad". lol, I ended up screwing Chrom and Lucina over, 'cuz guess who Chrom ultimately ended up marrying. The literal worst option. All of these are good options. It'd be nice if every character had a 4* variant. Those who are stuck strictly at 5 stars are next to impossible to get unless you literally roll a hundred times.
  12. My biggest mistake was underestimating a 5* Takumi. Of course he had close counter, but I didn't realize until too late. I killed everyone else, but that memetastic PoS killed everyone but Oboro, who was destined to die in any encounter with him. I still don't hate him; I'm just disappointed in him. I'm not counting "not re-rolling" as a mistake because A) I like to actually be challenged instead of abusing a system like that so that I can breeze through the game and B) I actually got some characters I like and some good 4* units. But that's just me... I understand those who got a bunch of crummy 3* Stahls or whatever wanting to reroll. It could've been worse; you could've accidentally tapped the icon on the top right of a character's screen and had them say something that might be a little NSFW. That being said, if I were in your situation, I might've curled up in a corner out of sheer embarrassment. Still, imagine your phone just bursting out with Niles saying, "Now now... be gentle"
  13. Generally speaking, I want some Tellius and Sacred Stones characters. If I had to pick one male character and one female character... Well, I'd say Soren and a female beast unit of some kind; probably Myrrh or one of the Laguz. This way, you get A) more representation from across the series and B) you get more characters to fill underrepresented classes (there are few green mages and even fewer beast types). Yeah, I suspect they'll do some kind of event either leading up to the release or on its release date that'll celebrate Shadows of Valentia. I'm talking new characters, special maps... what one might expect from such an event.
  14. I guess it's another reason to hate Mondays. Why did we need another reason to hate Mondays? But seriously though, there has to be a reason for this...
  15. "Bold direction" implying that a mobile spin-off cash cow is gonna be a real game changer for the mechanics of the mainline games. I think it suits the more simplified "play on the go" style Heroes was going for, but it's hard for me to see it being implemented into the main series. Aside from the fact that skill and luck have a wider application to the mechanics thanks to skills and whatnot, they have always had a substantial effect on your battle stats. They add a complexity to the game that results in it being more than just numbers because it gives you a lot of "what-if" scenarios. What if this attack doesn't hit and the enemy and his buddies attack my unit? What if this guy crits my unit? What if I crit this guy? What if I don't crit him? So you have a layer of "risk versus reward" strategizing. Without that, you will always know exactly what will happen if you pay close enough attention to the enemy AI patterns. In essence, the randomness deepens the strategy element of the series.
  16. I'm really hoping to get my 4* Oboro up a rarity level, so I'll save up for that... She and Tharja are my best units. Others in consideration include this 3* Shanna who's really goddamn good, and perhaps my 4* Est. If I get Hector, Takumi, Catria, or maybe a Tellius character (if and when they hit the game), they'll be lined up to receive some juicy feathers as well. Aside from that... maybe Gwendolyn, Cherche, and/or Cecilia. But they're at the backlog of my considerations.
  17. A 3* Gunter, a 3* Shanna, a 3* Henry, and a 4* Oboro are my most defensive troops, but Shanna's the one with the most balanced stats out of them all. As of right now, she's my best, though that could change. Oboro's seal defense and rally defense are very useful for helping others to tank hits for multiple reasons, and she hits like a truck. I have a 4* Tharja who is pretty much a glass canon. Same goes for Hana. I also got a pretty decent 4* Matthew. He's got good defense, which is very odd. He also has the best speed out of all my troops, naturally. I have yet to get any 5* units, but I'll obviously keep pulling for more units. There are still many more I want to get.
  18. I had the same problem myself when trying to start the game in Bluestacks and after the third Prologue, but I went into the app settings of Heroes and hit clear data (though didn't uninstall) both times. Though I think that still means your progress is deleted if you're not linked to a MyNintendo Account, so you might just need to do as Rox says and make an alternative Nintendo Account if you can. Also, even though I didn't uninstall, I still lost the 400+ mb of data you install while in-game. I hope this doesn't become a regular occurrence for me...
  19. When Frederick says "Pick a god and pray," none of us figured that he was an option to pick from. Seriously though, since he's known to be a pretty useful Oifey, it doesn't surprise me that he's at all good. I know he was a real team player in almost every playthrough I've done of Awakening.
  20. To people arguing about whether legs or arms are more important... I honestly should've predicted this argument would happen, but that wasn't the whole point of my post. I was trying to argue that it isn't totally senseless fanservice to see cuts on the legs and torso, places where "aesthetically pleasing" clothing tears are. Maybe the arms are more important, but you see tears in the sleeves as well. And legs still are very important for a soldier; if they can't move, they can't really continue with an advance or retreat. Also, I agree with @moxis on this as well; you don't see more gory and bloody details because they're trying to keep it T for Teen.
  21. I mean, I'm hardly offended? Seriously, it just seems like such a small thing... Though then again, I'm also not the kind of guy who is overly offended by the sexualization in Fates or Awakening. Also, like it or not, actual warriors would probably strike at those "aesthetically pleasing" parts. Because those are also either sensitive areas (best way to temporarily stun someone) or are vital parts (women have the same vital organs in the same places that men do and legs are probably more vital than arms are in combat). If anything, the travesty is in that the heroes' foes are too incompetent to properly wound their opponents, or that they for some reason refuse to strike at some men in the same places.
  22. A superior tiebreaker, I suppose... I'm glad someone voted for Mozu in my stead. And that someone else got behind Catria (yeah I know my battle ballot doesn't show her, but I swear I voted for her). I think when the tallies come, they'll pool together the votes of all the characters with multiple iterations. At least that's assuming the pollsters even care about there being multiple iterations of some characters. That being said, I understand some distinctions between different character iterations. SD Tiki is very different from Awakening Tiki. And some would argue PoR Ike is different enough from RD Ike to warrant two separate places on the poll. However, I think most would agree that Marth's number one fangirl hardly changes between SD, Gaiden, and MotE.
  23. Yeah, thanks for the heads up. I looked just to make sure, but all I have is a ton of music and pictures, all of which combined with the other data used amounts to only around 10 GB of my 60 GB phone. Yeah, I know what you mean. Most of my family and friends have lots of gaming apps on their phone, and I just have FB and all the default apps. I think I oughta at least dip my toes into the mobile gaming market, as there are games there that I could end up liking.
